The 9 Best Vietnamese Restaurants In London

"It’s hard not to get very comfortable very quickly at this BYOB spot in Deptford. Whether you’re settling down solo for a lunchtime bowl of soothing bún bò huê, or piling in with friends for sticky mock ‘pork’ ribs (the vegan menu is extensive and excellent), Viet Alley has got you covered. The dimly lit room is comfortable without being anything fancy, but is the kind of flavoursome cave you can hole up in for an hour or two with no problem at all." - jake missing

The 14 Best Restaurants In Deptford

"A meal at Viet Alley brings our blood pressure down and the bún bò huê has us gazing into the glistening broth like Narcissus. Drop down into a seat and feel your brain switch off as cave-like black walls envelope you and rich, deep bowls of phở soothe you. We like to spend an undisturbed lunch hour or two sitting under the convincing fake blossom tree and people-watching through the front window. In the evening, this BYOB Vietnamese spot fills up with groups of friends making the most of extensive vegan menus and shareable ‘duck’ summer rolls—which are a must-order—as well as satisfying, sticky ‘pork’ ribs." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, sinead cranna, daisy meager

Wonderful staff, delicious food, generous portions! Absolutely loved their veggie Bánh Cuốn.

Note that any reviews older than July 2025 were from when they were under different ownership (it was previously Viet Alley and Pho Hanoi before that). Unfortunately it seems to have gone downhill since they've changed - the food I had (bun thit nuong cha gio - vermicelli with pork and spring rolls) was fairly mediocre. The nuoc cham (dipping sauce) was heavily watered down and the noodles were all stuck together in a clump. Maybe their soups are better...

Lunch at this place was a delightful. The menu featured a variety of delicious vegan options, great price point. Dining partner had a meat dish which he really enjoyed, the spring rolls have to be the best ones we’ve both had! The service was both friendly and efficient, ensuring that we will be returning in the future.

Great new restaurant in the neighbourhood. Very friendly service throughout - genuinely so impressed. The food was also really delicious! I love how they balanced out hot spicy meals with a small plate of salad which isn't common practice for a bowl of Bun Hues. They also serve a wide variety of fresh fruit juice which is a nice touch. The place is nice, clean and cozy and location is perfect as it's just at the Greenwich end of Deptford High St. Will definitely go again!

Simple place, good quality food and generous portions, I’ve been here twice now and ordered different things all really good quality, tough competition in the area and this place holds its own. Drinks are too sweet for me but food is well seasoned and will be back many times. Good service.

Spectacular!!! The food was vibrant, fresh and great portions. I wanted to eat everything on the menu and was jealously looking at the food on everyone else’s table. An amazing selection of vegan options. Pay in cash or bank transfer. The owners were lovely and the whole place had a buzz. It’s a big big recommend from me!

Google
Usually quite buzzing, mixed with locals and new customers it seems which is a good sign! A much larger menu compared to other restaurants, more choice and even a separated vegan menu. Lots of seating is available including more seating downstairs, BYO is also allowed. The food arrived after 20 mins or so, hot and fresh. Portions are generous as seen and the staff are super friendly though usually quite busy.

Yelp
Great authentic Viet food! Try Vietnamese steamed pancakes which are addictive and delicious. They are the reason I keep coming back. Also vegetables with garlic (called morning glory...)are delicious. Their spring rolls are crunchy and different from the crappy packet spring rolls that other places have. Put that on the list as well. I had wonton soup there and the broth was delicious and you can taste the spices. They always provide with fresh herbs and chilli with your food. We go there for dinner all the time. if you order the steamed pan cakes, some veg, spring rolls and another dish to share between 2 you should be sorted. That comes to £23-27 so very good deal. It is a small place, but the food is amazing just need to know what to go for.

Yelp
The food used to be good here.. this is not the case anymore regrettably and the prices are now crazy. We asked tap water and we've been served warm water (super when it's a hot summer day..) On top of that, the waitress wasn't smiley at all Anyway, this place is now awful.

Yelp
Busy place and with good reason!!! The food was delicious, beautifully presented and super fresh! Service was cordial and fast. The establishment was pristine and people from all over come to gather. We had summer rolls, prawns with asparagus and soup. Wonderful! Get there early or wait in line. It's that good!
