Vila Komoda

"Originally built as a summer house for one of the grand Lithuanian Dukes, Vila Komoda sits within a tree-filled park, just minutes from the beach and the Baltic Sea. After a full restoration it opened as a small hotel and restaurant, with Chef Martyn Meid having spent time in London before returning to his native country. His cooking is thoroughly modern, with touches of creativity and a subtle nod to Lithuanian culinary heritage; the super dark, slightly sticky rye bread cooked to his grandmother's recipe is particularly notable. In summer, make for the rooftop terrace to enjoy a cocktail as you watch the sun go down." - Michelin Inspector

We visited Komoda many times over the years, but the first time in six years it felt natural. No forced service, no arrogance , just warm welcome and simple and more affordable and understandable menu. Great selection of fine wines and cocktails. Worth a detour 🥇

Really disappointing dinner at this restaurant. Had high expectations but the evening was ruined by flies everywhere in the dining room, and even more flies whilst having food and drinks at the table. Waitress even didn’t notice that fly was floating in a flute glass when pouring champagne which we had to stand up and prompt our server for a drinks service as our glasses were empty. Service, although polite, was very basic, lacked knowledge starting from greeting to wine/food introduction and recommendations. Food in general was ok but all above mentioned circumstances didn’t allow to fully enjoy it. If other guests are spending 1 hour or less in a fine dine restaurant, that is not a good sign. It is quite obvious that this place is in need of good leadership and management.

We came to the restaurant at 21:30, more than half of it was as empty, considering that restaurant closes at 23:00. The waitress was polite, asking if we have a booking and said they are fully booked. That is ridiculous.

Rating for the restaurant only, although we did stay in the hotel as well - it's small, cozy, but nothing special. Their restaurant though used to be one of the most unique restaurants with an amazing chef. We visited multiple times both for the tasting menu and a la carte dining. It blew us away and I truly rooted for them when Michelin was visiting. Yet the Chef Martynas seems to have left and during our recent visit we were seriously disappointed with menu presentation, food quality, service and fairly extreme prices. Ended up paying 150 EUR for two, left hungry and sad. "Toda" remains the only place then I can truly recommend in Palanga...

Staff was not fully aware of the food they were serving. Many flies in the dining room: even jumped into wine glass.

I regret that we rented a room in this place. If you want to get a good night's sleep on your vacation - not here. Hotel guests slam the door here as if they were living in a barn. Noisy, breakfasts poor, constant noise from the stairwell.... never again.

An amazing place, should receive a michelin star asap. And the dessert. Yes the prize winning one. Its like art, visually but even more tastewise. My goodness, that would be 2 stars for me.

Amazing place. Very bright and clean interior/rooms, amazing breakfast (beware: you can pick two dishes per person, but that does not mean that the portions are small!), and super friendly staff. EV charging from a wall socket is available if you ask nicely (and park closer to the building, or bring your own extension). Oh, and the location - it's perfect too, lots of points of interest within short walking distance
