"We have long bemoaned the fact the LA’s Eastside is surprisingly short on hotels and extended stay residences, Villa Carlotta slides stylishly and seamlessly into that much-needed space. The concept is clever and contemporary. For the multitudes looking to do a stint in the city that’s longer than a holiday but not long enough to merit a committment, Villa Carlotta delivers the local experience of rooming in the heart of Franklin Village (it’s one of the few zip codes in town that feels neighborhood-y, with restaurants, ice-cream, and an actual magazine kiosk, all on one street), supplemented with the conveniences of a luxury hotel. There’s a concierge to pin down elusive reservations, a rooftop for kibitzing with friends, a laundry service, a pool (a pool!), and adorably, a spot to park your bike: The tree-lined streets of Franklin are made for cycling to the bakery for your daily sourdough. Smorgasburg’s Porchetta Republic Sandwich Vendor Goes Legit in Downtown - Eater LA

"Franklin Village neighbors have long had issues with the owners of Villa Carlotta. The onetime low-rent apartment building was flipped into mostly Airbnb rental units and now ownership is seeking a change of use to turn the property into a hotel, complete with a coffee shop and all-day cafe with alcohol." - Farley Elliott

Staying at the villa carlotta was such a dream. It’s so old hollywood and it’s history is so inspiring!! When you walk in, you’re welcomed with good music, candles flickering, a beautiful piano, roses in the lobby, and an amazing, friendly staff. Everyday here was so beautiful and I miss it already. The area is amazing too — the hollywood sign is always peeking around, the hollywood bowl is close by, & franklin village has everything you need. If you’re thinking about staying here, I highly recommend you do. Staying at the villa carlotta has been one of my best overall experiences in LA and it introduced me to Hollywood in such a unique way. Forever grateful for this beautiful, electric place and hope to revisit soon 💌💌

I stayed at Villa Carlotta for a month, and I can’t say enough good things about my experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was stepping into a blend of old Hollywood glamour and modern comfort. The building itself is stunning – full of charm and character – and the furnished apartments are beautifully designed and thoughtfully equipped. A special shout-out to Vanessa, who went above and beyond to make my stay seamless and enjoyable. She was incredibly helpful, responsive, and genuinely kind – always making sure I had everything I needed. Her hospitality really stood out and made my experience even more memorable.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Villa Carlotta as a guest, and I was incredibly impressed! Every corner of the villa exudes a blend of classic and modern touches, making it feel both luxurious and cozy. I would like to take the time to recognize Vanessa, the manager. She deserves a special mention for her hospitality. Although I was only a guest, she made sure I felt welcome and valued. Her attention to detail, professionalism, and friendly demeanor truly stood out and made the experience memorable. I can see why Villa Carlotta is so well-loved – they’re doing a fantastic job, especially with someone as dedicated as Vanessa leading the way!

A Hidden Gem! Stayed here for 45 days, while in town for work from NYC. Such a cool vibe with a super chic design. I stayed in a studio and it was more like a suite, than studio. The staff are divine and super helpful. My only negative feedback would be that, it does not have a bar or restaurant but the team offered me complimentary rose in the evenings:-) Will directly be back.

Hello to all planning to stay at the Carlotta- enjoy your stay, but you may be interested to know that you are staying in the former apartments of a long term and beautiful community of artists, musicians and old Hollywood performers- a community that was ruthlessly evicted, price gouged and intimidated out when the current owners bought the place. Many had been there decades. One old actor with HIV who was spending his last days there was forced out, it broke his heart. The corridors used to be full of generations of paintings, photos and plants, and the residents gathered at the weekend for big fancy dress parties in the lobby, which was full of old Hollywood props- some furniture was from classic 1940s and 1950s movies. They would gather around the lobbys grand piano and sing, some would dance or enact scenes. One old Hollywood lifer would set up a bar and make us all fericously strong cocktails. The courtyard was crammed with statues and exotic plants, and residents would gather there by candlelight, huddle on the benches on long Summer nights and tell stories and anecdotes. The roof was accessible then, and had palm leaf gazebos, paddling pools, and a Tiki bar. On a hot afternoon you could float in a cool pool and sip a margarita. It was MAGICAL, and the new owners destroyed the place. As soon as they took over, they began forcing people out, they stripped the corridors of the art and threw it in the trash, they threw all the old prop furniture in skips, they chainsawed much of the courtyard vegetation, and they set about forcing the rest of the people out. Once they had done so, they GUTTED the place, and turned it into the soul less shadow of its former glory that it is now. Enjoy the Carlotta, maybe an echo of its magic may still reach you.

If I could live at the Villa Carlotta forever, I totally would. It’s a perfect blend of Hollywood history and modern amenities, in the coolest location in town. The residents and staff are friendly and kind, and Vanessa is the absolute BEST. She has every answer and will solve any issue, immediately and effortlessly. I definitely plan to return in the future, there is no better place to stay in LA!!

Stayed two nights in corner suite. Although I'm slightly wary of public spaces due to the current covid global health scare, the Villa C's grounds and room were immaculately appointed and reassuringly clean with staff going beyond the call of reassuring aid without any uninvited imposition. As to the lobby area, although quiet (as expected during Cali lockdown) -it was both gorgeous and restful; so spent some much needed holiday time reading & relaxing by the outside fountain. Though my absolute favorite spot in the entire space was the beautiful (secret-shhh) pool area, so well designed with the perfect mix of tropical ambiance and European comfort. Think a French Riviera poolside counterpart to the Chateau Marmont. My new go to, will be back!

The whole crew here works so hard and takes such care of the whole apartments at multiple properties. Walter is always there for us. Sharia is the most kind. Lizzete is awesome. Mina is amazing. Love this place. Move here. You will adore it.

Yelp
Being in the hospitality industry and an interior designer specializing in vintage styles, I am seldon impressed, but I have to say from day one to now four months in, I am constantly impressed with this building + team running it! Now yes of course, it is expensive that much is for sure, but the value is there in that its stunningly renovated, has unmatchable historic charm, clean from any environmental issues after a multi year restoration (unlike most other similar historic landmark buildings, yes I've Iived in my fair share of them). The parking is not ideal but honestly in four months Ive never had to walk more than a few blocks, there is a lot of parking around... The units are charmingly furnished, quiet for the most part (center courtyard), and stay cool even in the summer heat wave. I am lucky to have an amazing first floor courtyard unit- its the hugest studio on the property complete with a little staircase entry and gorgeous beamed high ceilings :) The public areas are epic beyond words, pool, lobby, courtyard and rooftop truly make your stay so inspiring and uplifting. They will make you feel so at peace and grateful. There is a small gym which Ive yet to use but hey its included :) They also go out of their way to provide cool experiences like wine and piano nights, sound bath/ meditations etc The ppl stay stay here are generally all high end, thoughtful, friendly, interesting etc- I also love that they are pet friendly and have night security The location is awesome it's so walkable (hello Kreation!). And lastly Mauricio and Vanessa that run the sales and on site mgmt are gems: smart, chill, responsive, friendly, and truly on it for anything you need - they helped inspire me to come here as well as stay~ I feel that they really care and make you feel special day in and day out! Overall CGI/ bread & salt hospitality did an immaculate job here. IF you have any questions you can msg me- I dont check this a whole lot but I am on insta at @jennlaskey I give this place 5 stars, its worth the price tag- you get what you pay for :)

Yelp
I've lived here for just over a month, and in that time, the building has fired their security because as other residents have said, the owners are "cheap." I was told there would be security when I moved in and now there is not. They didn't give the man a notice of more than a couple weeks and he had sent money to pay for his two siblings funerals and didn't have time to put any aside. so they are essentially sending him out onto the streets. I am appalled at how a building owner could behave this way and can't move out sooner. There's also a witch I've been told that lives in the guest or clubhouse, but I think she's just a mean lady with a dog who keeps talking to me, I think just trying for an autograph. Strange place man.

Yelp
Villa Carlotta has wonderful amenities & a great ambiance. Also the most amazing pool which fells like a villa in Italy. Staff is super nice. Maui was so friendly and gave us a detailed tour of the property. Love it here

Yelp
I've been very content at Villa Carlotta, staying while my house is being renovated. It's lovely, Vanessa and Mario have been so helpful, and parking (so far) hasn't been the nemesis I feared. A great temporary home!

Yelp
Hello Fellow Yelpers, save yourself time, and look elsewhere, Argyle House is incredible, has parking, even in house Tesla's you can borrow! I sadly stayed at Villa Carlotta. Looks gorgeous right? But extremely disappointing, as I discovered to my expense, (was charged $6,000 for 3 nights!). No Parking, (yes, NO PARKING, in LA??), no pool, half finished building, rooftop unfinished, I could go on and on, urgh. Lovely Staff, but Management is inept, under experienced, trying but running around like a headless chicken, no clue what he's doing. Brian Mccrory, nice Guy, wrong job. I feel really bad for Gidi and Andrew at CGI Stratagies, they invested many, many Millions of Dollars in this project, but it has turned out to be a very poor investment. Admire the Building from the outside, don't bother staying, Hello Argyle House. I hope this helps any curious minds/potential Customers.
