Lakefront-adjacent, family-run institution known for ultra-thin pizza from stone ovens and broasted chicken. A Kenosha standby noted by Travel Wisconsin and loved across generations.

Interesting establishment. Italian cuisine, very decent and original especially to specific regions in Italy. An extensive list of wines and cocktails! The atmosphere is dated, which probably influences the great number of long time customers from the area. The clams and linguine were pretty good but the linguine was not drained enough so there was a lot of water on the dish. I just had the broasted chicken, the green beans were fantastic! The dinner salads we had were delicious. There was a mountain of blue cheese on my wife's salad which she appreciated. The staff was tremendous, extremely efficient. The entertainment was one of the Chefs in the kitchen kept calling one of the Hostesses (Irene), reminiscent of Marlon Brando yelling Stella (S Street Car Named Desire!) It was pretty hilarious! I would recommend this establishment, it definitely is a step back in time and not a sanitized vision of something.

Came here after reading some decent reviews but we will not be going back. We chose this place due to being a halfway point between Chicago and MKE for a birthday dinner. We ordered calamari for appetizer and it was kinda sad; first off it was gummy and cold as if it sat for a while, there was absolutely no flavor in the breading. We ordered our meals, I got a shrimp scampi and by God those shrimp were massive, unfortunately the flavor was not massive...there was no flavor. I added a bunch of salt to bring out the flavors that were hidden and had to ask for lemons because this dish requires lemons for the bright flavor to accompany it, and added red pepper flakes to round it all out. Only then was it decent enough. Others in my party got fish and another got the pasta with clam sauce which wasn't too bad just needed salt but the sauce was alright. I would absolutely skip this place if I wanted something Italian that was good. idk about Kenosha but there are plenty more flavorful location in MKE and Chicago; go there instead. Service was good. Note that they automatically charge 20% gratuity even tho the menu states 18% and for a party of 8 or more..we were 4 people. They also charge a 3% credit card fee. The high cost is not worth the lack of flavor and tacked on fees and forced tips.

The pizza was great as always. The waitress was on point. We never even had to ask for anything as she took care of us. The booth was terrible. It was extremely lumpy and all taped up with tape that was coming off. It was very uncomfortable.

****Update**** After our initial experience, we decided to do a little test. The whole story about the wings did not make sense at all. We decided to order the wings for takeout to see if we would still get the same "hot" wings that were tossed in Buffalo sauce and BBQ sauce. We were right. The wings we had during our first experience were not their typical hot wings. Our take out order had the correct wings, the traditional wings tossed in Buffalo sauce. I am adding another photo so you can see the difference for yourself. The worst part of this experience was the LYING. Why lie? Why make up an elaborate story as if we didn't have any common sense? We were enjoying ourselves, and we were totally fine waiting for a fresh order of wings. We were willing to pay for the hot wings and the BBQ/Buffalo combo wings. We are still confused by the service we received. If you plan on eating at this restaurant, just know that you might not get new food in the event your order is messed up. Original Review: Tonight was a huge disappointment. We ordered hot wings, chicken dumpling soup, and 3 different 9-inch pizzas. First and foremost, we ordered the hot wings with a side of BBQ sauce as an appetizer. The server came out to let us know that the cook accidentally tossed the wings in BBQ sauce instead of putting it on the side. She told us they were making a new order of hot wings. We told her it was no problem, we were fine waiting. 30 seconds later, she brings out the "hot" wings. I asked her if the wings were the hot ones or the BBQ ones and she told us they were the hot ones. I took a bite and they were 100% tossed in BBQ sauce. When she came back, we let her know they were BBQ and asked if we could place another order of traditional hot wings with no BBQ sauce. She said absolutely and she would ask them to remove the BBQ ones off the bill. (We were fine paying, we just wanted an order of traditional hot wings.) And one minute later she comes back and told us that's how they make their hot wings. She said their hot wings are hot sauce mixed with BBQ sauce. I asked if I could just have hot sauce and she told me no. Needless to say, her story made zero sense at all and it was very disappointing. (Picture below, you be the judge) I ordered the chicken dumpling soup. I wasn't impressed it didn't have homemade dumplings, rather, they just dumped some gnocchi in the soup. Lastly, the pizzas were okay but overall mostly flavorless. They lacked any seasoning or flavor. We sat outside and it was nice at first, then there were a ton of bees. We had to leave because I am allergic to bees and there were at least 5 hovering over us and our food. After tonight's experience, we will not be returning.

I reserve the room downstairs all the time and they do a great job for large parties. Food is amazing as usual.

Held up on 5 stars for the pizza alone. The service was timely but hectic. The place could use an update for the atmosphere. The pizza was fantastic and someone else in my party was paying so I was happy 😊. Some said the pizza was overcooked, ours was perfectly crispy delicious.

We went on a Saturday night. We got seated at a really cool vintage banquet booth. The place was decorated for Easter it was quirky fun. Although I didn't get her name are waitress was absolutely amazing. Tables all around us got food it took them about 45 minutes to bring us a pizza sadly the pizza was burned there is no pull on the cheese and it wasn't even very warm. I hadn't been there in about 15 years because I didn't have a good experience last time. A friend suggested it and I wanted to be agreeable I am in no hurry to go back

Google
Have gone here several times and always enjoyable. This time we came on Mother's day so the place was busy and every table was seated. Our table had the veal cutlet, lasagna and spaghetti with meatball. The portions were huge and had to take boxes home. They start you off with bread, pasta and red bean salad. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food.

Yelp
Friendly staff, outdated dining area, and decent food. The complementary bread was very fluffy and tasty. We also tried the meat ravioli for an appetizer, which were quite massive. However I think a blend of meat and cheese would've been better. For our main course I ordered the fettuccine chicken Alfredo, the chicken didn't have much flavor nor did the sauce but the noodle were yummy! I'd say adding more seasoning to the chicken and sauce would make it much better.

Yelp
Always delicious food! We love their pizza and salads. Moscato wine is very good. Atmosphere is older but cozy!

Yelp
The waitress was extremely rude and would yell at us when we asked questions or placed our orders. She also never came back when we asked her a question--she yells back to us, "Not now, I am busy. I will be back." But that never happened. The food was mediocre and way overpriced for the portion sizes. I couldn't believe the cost of the salads considering their small portion size. This used to be a good place, but we have come here twice in the past two months, thinking that the first experience was just an off day. It wasn't an off day. It IS the way they operate. We will never go there again.

Yelp
The service was great! We sat outside on a beautiful day. Pizza was very good but the fried ravioli was a bit dry. It's a cool restaurant inside with big retro-type booths and they decorate for every holiday which is nice. I've been here several times and recommend sitting outside if it's a beautiful day. Overall, good place and solid Italian food.

Yelp
Spent over 2 hours without getting food for 3 out of 4 in our party. Was told food was coming and then waited 30 more minutes to be told another minute. Then, that minute turned into many more minutes. If your kitchen and staff can't make a pizza in less than 2 plus hours, you shouldn't be offering pizza. Thankfully, the food we didn't get was removed from the bill (considering we didn't get the food, it was the least the restaurant could do).

Yelp
My husband and I have been enjoying pizza at "The Villa" (as we called it in high school) for over 50 years. When in the area, we go out of our way to stop in and enjoy. Last night was a first -- we were severely disappointed. Gone are the fresh-tasting corn meal crust, the cheesiness, and the deeply flavored tomato sauce. We ordered sausage (among other toppings), which we could barely taste or see. It just isn't the same pizza at all, and I think these changes have happened fairly recently. Sadly, we will not be back soon.

Yelp
I ordered a pizza at 4:01 for delivery and was told it would be 35 minutes, which I thought was fast but they had just opened at 4:00. At 5:06 they called and asked if it was for delivery. I said yes and they said they input it wrong and would send it out. I asked if it was going to be hot and they said yes, it had only been sitting for about 10 minutes which didn't make sense since originally they said it would be ready in 35 minutes. . At 5:32 I called back asking where the pizza was since I'm only a 10 minute drive away and was told the driver was on his way. I asked him twice to be sure if they made a new pizza and he said yes. When the driver finally came, I also asked him and he also said that it had been remade, though I'm not sure he knew what I was talking about. He even claimed the pizza was "smoking hot"! Holding the pizza on the bottom it felt warm so I trusted them and accepted it. When I opened it up I discovered that the pizza had been definitely been sitting around for awhile. Even though I ordered extra sauce, the whole pizza, especially the outer part was extremely dry. I ate some barely edible pieces in the middle and threw out the rest. A complete fail on all fronts.

Yelp
The small Cesar salad was a small hand full of lettuce with more croutons than lettuce and a container of capers on a small plate. my cup of soup was like warm, and the grasshopper pie was a scoop of mint ice cream with a couple of crushed Oreo cookies around it. No refill on my coffee. was not worth the cost. Will not go back.

Yelp
I have been eating Carl's pizza since the 70s. Back then, it was like the pizza in the pic. I moved away over 20 years ago. At some point, they started over browning the cheese for my tastes. It didn't taste as well as the pizzas I remembered growing up. I ordered one extra light cooking but still the cheese was brown. I finally said, "Please pull out of the oven before turns brown," and they did. It tasted perfect. If you want to taste the legendary pizza like it tasted 50 years ago, then ask them to cook this way. Back then, they all came back that way.

Yelp
I'm from out of town and heard about the pizza and we came and we picked up 3 pizzas (pepperoni, cheese, and a sausage. The place seemed nice inside and it had a cool atmosphere. While we waited for our pizza the bartender was really nice and helpful even though she was really busy. I loved the pizza. It was thin crust with cornmeal on the bottom which gave it a texture that I really liked. I loved all 3 pizzas and I definitely will come back when I visit Wisconsin again. Great pizza and I love the people in Kenosha.

Yelp
I was in town for my sister's birthday and we decided to have a low key dinner to celebrate. So we headed over to this Kenosha classic for some tasty Italian grub. I love this place. Still classic. Still warm. Still welcoming. The first room which is the bar area got a bit of an update, but still matches the rest of the restaurant. The main dining room flanked with big, round booths reminiscent of a classic supper club, welcomed is in. Dark and sultry, the room calls for an Old Fashioned or a Tom Collins. Our server, JC was fantastic. She was friendly and patient as we laughed and celebrated. It took us a while to get to the menu and she didn't mind. The food is as good as ever. I love the house vinaigrette on my salad. Mojos were spot on. We also tried pizza, fried chicken and fettuccine. Everything was perfect. I was disappointed that the relish tray is only available for purchase off the menu, as it used to arrive on your table complimentary. Salads are also ala carte now too. We dined just after Halloween so the dining room was super decorated like it is for every holiday. I love the energy put into the festive flair this restaurant has always given. Holiday decor is everywhere!! The bottom line is this: Villa D' Carlo or Carl's as the locals say, is the real deal. Great food wrapped in wonderful memories!

Yelp
Great gnocchi! Great service. Cheese soup a bit heavy for my taste. Plenty of parking.

Yelp
Hey, folks. Unfortunately, a big miss at Villa D' Carlo tonight. I rarely write reviews, but mom and I came in this evening for my birthday and were sorely disappointed from the start. I ordered a beer-mom ordered a Mai Tai. Not sure what they brought her, but it looked like a vodka tonic-completely clear and definitely *not* a Mai Tai. The waitress took it away, but came back empty handed after some time, saying the bartender didn't know what we wanted, which is kind of odd. I assume most bars would have some sort of drink guide behind them and, if not, there's always google. So, mom is asked if there's anything else she'd like and orders a margarita. That drink arrives looking dodgy. We both try it and agree that it definitely tastes of whisky and not much like a margarita. At this point, we kinda gave up on the drinks, but didn't say anything else as things were busy and the waitress said she'd take mom's drink off the bill. So...food. I ordered a bowl of soup--got a cup. We ordered a fried cheese ravioli appetizer and an Italian sampler to split (w/ meat ravioli). Mom likes the fried meat variety, so we asked if it was the same ravioli on both (was told yes) and which had more ravioli, the sampler or the side (was told the sampler) and ordered accordingly. Turns out it's the side that had more (of the type she doesn't care for) and the (non-fried) ravioli in the sampler was rather tough. The gnocchi was tough/doughy and the lasagna was rather bland. An unfortunate surprise, since we thought both were really good last time we came in. Pretty disappointed all around, but at least the soup was good. Wish I'd had a bowl.

Yelp
Great pizza place the crust is very good and the cornmeal on the bottom just adds to the flavor of the pizza

Yelp
The singular best pizza in Kenosha -- or all of Wisconsin. Eating on site can be a bit frustrating on a busy night -- service can get rough and finding a table can hard. You can order at the window and take out and the pizza is just as exceptional at home. Kenosha is famous for mostly crappy pizza -- very doughy and thick and without much flavor (other than doughy). Villa D'Carlo, though, offers thin crust with solid sauce, fresh toppings, and just the right amount of cheese. Of the 100+ different pizzas I've eaten in my life, all over the world, a sausage pizza from Carl's is among the top on my list.

Susan D.

Yelp
Every went well. Our waitress was amazing. The food was excellent as always. I always like the decor and it is especially fun at Halloween!!!

Yelp
So im gona start with the food this time. Everything we ate was all on point. I had the pesto pizza which was cooked perfectly. All the elements were just right, crust, cheese, pesto, toppings. I ate the small by myself and it was filling. We also got the fried combo basket which was good as well. Everyone enjoyed their food no matter what they got so that speaks to the quality. My issues were that the space is a bit cramped and it's definitely loud. Trying to communicate with the others at my table was a challenge. Service took a while... I'd say some of us waited for an hour for our entrees (not me, the pizzas came out first) but they do say on the menu that everything is made fresh so take that as your warning that if your in a hurry this might not be the spot for you. One serious issue was that the creamers they served with the coffee was expired. Thankfully we noticed before anyone drank it but out of 6 mini creamers they were all expired. They resolved it by bringing fresh cream and they were apologetic but it's concerning that no one caught that for over a month... how many people had expired cream before we noticed? Overall, very good food with some other issues bringing down the score.

Yelp
We just had my son's college graduation party here in their private room in the basement. The room was old and could use some sprucing up but the space was perfect for our group and worked out very well. The staff from the time I called to reserve to the end of the event were wonderful! Everyone enjoyed the food that was plentiful and very well priced! I would definitely recommend!!

Yelp
I've known the Griskoviak's for a short period of time. I started working at Villa D Carlo early October 23' and after finding better opportunities I requested my 2 weeks. I worked 6 of 7 nights every week 90% of the time. My first week of my requested 2week notice I was scheduled one day, Tuesday. After showing up to my shift and performing as usual, awaiting next weeks schedule to see I was not on any days that week. I worked very hard for this company and went out of my way to do many things that were not asked. After putting my two weeks in the respect instantly changed. I was scheduled one day after performing averages of 30hours a week previous. I went into the office to meet with Jake to discuss why I was not placed on the schedule this week as this was my second weeks notice. After he explained to me that I did not show up to work that night, (Tuesday) I accepted that is the case and moved forward with the situation. While I worked for Villa, I did live in a building that was ran by the Griskoviak's. And when they read this and know exactly who I am they will say they don't see me in their records, this is true, I was not ever in their records so don't fall for that nonsense that had been posted on previous reviews. The conversation escalated quickly into the manager telling me how I need to take advantage of my life and get it together. How I'm quote "stupid f***ing idiot who needs to take responsibility" Let it to be known I'm 18 hold 2 jobs and am renting, living alone. It saddens me to see that people will treat you well when they offer you something. They wanted to keep what I offered them at work and renting in future. However when other opportunities arise and they cannot use me anymore, I am fired for not showing up to work when I was present. When there are managers willing to testify that I was there that day. There are cameras at every angle of that building inside and out and they are refused to be looked at. I have found myself better landlords and employment and am doing better for myself. in the process of finding better I had looked back to analyze what had happened and see if I was the only one feeling this way towards this name. I have been sharing this experience with others around town including other landlords and jobs, they all have had similar if not exact relations with the Griskoviak's. This saddens me. As I have friends still renting and working for and from the greskoviaks, I am updated constantly on outstanding unprofessional acts performed by the landlords and Jake himself. This includes physical altercations with tenants, abusive verbal communication, and defaming of people who have found better This review is to prevent you from going through what I experienced . I'm not writing this to make Griskoviaks look bad because in the long run that will not happen. Money talks and they worked there way up to run this town. They ran me for a while but I got control and you should too. There's better out there, don't settle

Yelp
Despite the many bad reviews, I've seen this place touted as the best Italian restaurant in Kenosha. It's right across from the hotel we were staying in, so it was very convenient and my daughter and I decided to give it a try. They have a lot of options and very reasonable prices (especially coming from Chicago.). They start you off with warm bread and what our server called a relish try. It was a delicious cold pasta salad. You have your choice of soup or salad with an entree. We had the cream of mushroom and chicken vegetable soup, both of which were very good. Our server was a young girl who couldn't explain what their "mojos" are. (It's their signature potato dish which are potato wedges.) She also didn't know the difference between their French fries and American fries. Shouldn't a server be able to answer questions about their food? My daughter chose the pasta combo which was ravioli, knocci and lasagna. It was lathered in heavy red sauce. Once she scraped most of it off, she enjoyed it. I chose the 1/4 rib, 1/4 chicken platter with the mojo potatoes. My ribs also were bathed in sauce. It was tangy and good, just too much. I scraped also. I was expecting broiled chicken, but it was fried. I guess I didn't specify, but our server also didn't ask. I'm not a huge fan of fried, but it was good. My meal came with green beans which were crisp and very tasty. Portions were very generous. The only real problem we had was that I told our server we could get a free slice of tiramisu with Yelp checkin. She hadn't heard of it, but I showed it to her and she said no problem. A few minutes later she came back and said her manager told her they "weren't doing that anymore." I told her if that was the case they needed to take it down from Yelp, but since it was still there, they needed to honor it. She didn't say anything so I asked to speak to her manager. A few minutes later she came back and said her other manager said the other one "didn't know what he was talking about" and they would honor the offer. That manager then came to ask if she could see it on my phone. Because we had already checked in and clicked the offer as used, I couldn't access it again. She said ok and they would still honor it. The server brought the slice in a to go box per our request, and when we were leaving, the female manager was explaining it to the male manager who had said no. He stared at us, making us feel like we were freeloaders. If it weren't for this experience they would have gotten another star.

Yelp
The BEST thin crust pizza hands down. Love Betty, and her staff. Great service. It's a staple in Kenosha. I just wish I lived closer.. I would go every week!! Homemade soups too!! YUM.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a busy Saturday night. We started out with the garlic bread, which was ok, just wish their was a side of olive oil/seasoning to dip in. The pizza we ordered was Beverly's Favorite...which includes "Olive Oil, Cheeses, Garlic, Red Pepper Flakes, Tomato, Onion, and Basil." Although we did talk to the waitress beforehand about the red pepper flakes, she assured us that they were on the side, with the parmesan cheese. When the pizza came and we tried a slice, it was obvious the red pepper flakes were definitely IN the pizza, and the hot flavor outweighed any of the other ingredients listed. I spoke up, and we then ordered the Garden Pizza as a replacement. As pictured, you can see the abundance of (crunchy) vegetables. The crust is of the crisp, cornbread variety; a nice thin crust style pizza. I was able to redeem my check-in offer for the Tiramisu as we left.

Yelp
Best place to get a thin crispy cornmeal crust! And can't beat the location and view of the lake while you enjoy your pizza

Yelp
Romantic date, special occasion or just a nice cozy dinner, Villa D'Carlo is the epitome of a small, cozy, old-school Italian restaurant. Excellent ambiance with dark lighting, seasonal decor, smart pricing and homemade recipes just like Nonna used to make! We loved the 5 minute sauce over spaghett - simple, fresh ingredients and tasty. The ravioli were pillows of perfection. The kids love the pizza (from original owner Carl's special recipe) and Tiramisu for dessert is our favorite. The location can't be beat. After dinner walk it off along the lakefront walk by the marina. It's an old school, old time Kenosha favorite - like eating with family.

Yelp
Came in from Houston, Texas and my grandfather wanted to bring us to a restaurant he would eat at in his younger years. We got into town at about 7pm, so we called to MAKE SURE the restaurant was open until 9. Left our hotel a little before 8 in order to make it in time. Walked up to the restaurant before 8:30 and we were turned away because they were "closing up". When we called we were told as long as we were there before 9 we would be served. Wish we could've tasted the food since we are only in Kenosha overnight, but if the service off the bat was horrible I could only imagine how they serve you as a customer there..

Yelp
I haven't been to this place in years because the food was always below average ex runny marinara sauce and cornmeal coating the bottom of the pizza. Today we went there for a birthday party and I will never go back. I was pleased to see the pizza did not have any cornmeal on the bottom so I thought it was going to be better. It had no flavor and was the texture of chewy cardboard. This I can deal with but what came next really just gets under my skin...... My husband went up to the bar for the 3rd time since the restaurant opened to the public to see if there was finally a bartender to serve drinks. As he waited for my Bloody Mary, a female staff member with glasses came out from the back and said "Another f***king Bloody Mary are you kidding me?" Right in front of my husband and other people sitting at the bar. How completely unprofessional! I wish I would had been the one that ordered the drinks so I could have said you know what never mind I will save my money!! I couldn't believe it when he came back to the table and told all of us. I will NEVER be supporting that business EVER again!!

Yelp
Arrived tonight during busy time(approximately) 5:45 pm. Was advised it would be around 30 minutes to be seated. We're sat in back room around 6:30. Other than the 2 smaller tables by windows all tables were being used. Ordered 2 large pizzas. First one arrived ok but when 2nd pizza arrived, it was incorrect. By the time we received new pizza, entire back room either everyone was gone except 2 tables which were done eating and had bills on tables. Waitress never apologized at all...then once I gave my credit card to pay it was taking some time. Another waitress walked by and noticed I wasn't pleased and I mentioned it seemed to be taking a long time to obtain my card back and bill so we could leave. Received the bill, signed it and was finally exiting when I was informed the system didn't charge correctly so the needed my card again to void previous transaction and bill me again...finally left after 8:30. Why if an error is made on pizza order is that not solved first? Other pizzas should take back seat to original order where mistake was made. Had same waitress back in July..restaurant was not busy at all and we had 4 in our party. We ordered 3 smaller pizzas(1 cheese/sausage) for 2 of us, and the other 2 ordered their own. Our table received one...2 of us ate and by the time the 2 of us were completed eating, the 2nd pizza arrived. So now, 2 of our party were done eating, 1 person was eating and 1 still waiting for food. Only after the 2nd person finished did the 3rd pizza finally arrive. So now we have 3 people done eating watching the last in our party eat. Never an apology or anything...fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me. Embarrassing to say the least.....also very unprofessional of bartender to be snacking in front of packed restaurant many waiting to be seated or served!

Yelp
Went here last night to celebrate a birthday party. I couldn't believe how bad the service was. Our waitress was running around manic trying to figure things out. Pizzas were cold when they were brought to the table. No one came around to refill drinks or to check how things were going. 1 carafe of water for 6 people. When the water was gone it was gone. One person ordered a side spinach salad and that didn't show up until the end of the meal. We ordered additional sides that never showed up. Terrible experience. Disappointing!!!!

Yelp
Really great thin crust pizza! We're from New York and we didn't expect to eat a whole pizza and we did. It was so good. We got half pepperoni and half olive. Probably didn't even need toppings it was so good. Always busy so if you can pick up, I say do so. But super tasty!

Yelp
Ordered a Caesar salad. Was told they were out of croutons. Then received 2 baskets of bread. Bread, butter, broiler. Voila. Crouton. Anyway. A solid 3.

Yelp
So disappointing. Used to be a great supper club and had a nice atmosphere for any type of dinner. Changed drastically over the last year. Service has gone downhill, and they removed the tablecloths - they just put a piece of paper on them with crayons - more like a diner. We ordered steak dinners and as the server was dropping our dinners in front of us (and I mean dropping them like in a diner), my husband asked which one was medium-well... she said, "just cut it open and see" and she walked away. Seriously? They used to be marked and the waitress was told which was which. The steak dinner used to come with a salad, potato, fresh long green beans. Then they would give you (pre-dinner) several small bean salads, pickles/olives; really nice. Now you just get the steak, potato (and by the way, she forgot my husband's potato completely), green beans (which, instead of all fresh, they chopped up fresh beans and mixed in canned green beans with them - yuk), and the salad is an upcharge. Only pre-dinner is a small loaf of bread. At least the steaks were done as we ordered them - and smaller than usual. The help they have is more suited for a roadhouse bar & grill (no manners). This same thing happened when we went there a few months ago - waitress forgot everything, rarely checked on us and acted like we were bothering her just by being there. After frequenting this place many times over 40 years, we won't go back. Think they should just serve pizza and make you pick it up at the window - it'll save their customers the headache of dealing with people who don't like to work. I guess the days of a good supper club are gone.

Yelp
We went for dinner here Saturday 12/18. I am in a power chair, they were able to accommodate my needs. Our reservation was for 5:00pm my parents who were coming from out of town were a little early and were seated right away. As we went in the smell of fresh pizza cooking was a great way to be greeted. The holiday decorations were spot on. The food was great! From the petite filet, chicken parm, Villa pasta. My father's complaint was his ribs were "too meaty" is that even possible? Nick was our server, he did a great job, very knowledgeable and attentive.

Yelp
Updated review - the last few times I've picked up from Carl's, the service has been on point. I'm so glad they stepped it up because they still have the best pizzas in town. I can't get enough of that cornmeal crunch on the edge pieces!

Yelp
I tried this place for the very 1st time tonight. I called my order in over the phone. I get home and they forgot the salads that came with both of the meals. I ordered a steak med. rare it was over cooked. My daughter ordered spaghetti and ravioli it had absolutely no taste to it. She could not even eat it. I called back and let them know and the guy said that is hard to believe. He just offered to give me a credit for the missing salads I asked him to talk to a manager he kept me on hold for 10 min and then just came back and said we can 50% off on our next order. I said, I would not be ordering from there again. He was extremely rude and arguing with me. Over prices for very low quality food. zero stars

Yelp
We started with a PHENOMENAL appetizer which had a variety of meats and cheeses. I felt honored to try it out as at the time they just started the dish a few days prior! Besides their Pizza, their Pasta dishes are incredible! Rob talked about each of those traditional pasta dishes are made right at the restaurant (along with the HOMEMADE sauce). Yelp
On the search for a great Italian joint?? Well you found it! The location could not be better since it's across from the Lake inlet and Simmons Island featuring the old Kenosha's Southport Light Station & House. Whether you choose to sit outside at the side garden patio, the sidewalk in front (hope you don't mind all the roaring Harley bypassers), or the plant-shop interior, they start you off with delicious pasta, red bean salads and bread. You can't go wrong with their thick Lasagna layered with ground Italian sausage, mozzarella cheese, sliced hard-boiled eggs and topped with red tomato sauce or meat-filled Ravioli. Enjoy both at a great price with the Italian Combo Plate (1/2 Lasagna, 2 Ravioli and Mostaccioli served with red tomato sauce). Remember: The parking lot behind is a plus. Best Italian place in Kenosha!

Yelp
The food in the restaurant is terrible. We still have pizza delivered from them because my husband is a "this is what I've always done" kind of person. They have become so hit or miss in their quality, I cannot give more than a 2 rating. I honestly would have had a better pizza from Domino's tonight; believe me, I'm not a Domino's fan.

Yelp
I've been eating at Villa D Carlo since I was a kid and I'm just sad at how bad it's become. The food is passable, but the service has become abysmal. Our last few visits, the servers are either overworked or just don't care. Aside from the pizza (which is the only reason why it gets two stars), the food quality is mediocre at best and don't order a steak or prime rib.....Not good. If you visit this Kenosha institution, stick with the basics...Pizza, easy appetizers and beer and you'll be okay as long as you're not in a hurry.

Yelp
This was this worsts experience. The waitress just about threw the water on our table and then gave us a terrible attitude. I spoke to the manager and his attitude was even worse. He didn't apologize or try to make things better. I know a lot of people in the service industry and I've never seen anything like. To top it off, he made racist innuendos to my family. I suggest never go here unless you Luke to be insulted by the staff. There must be better places in Kenosha to have a pleasant dining experience.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never experienced such a horrible restaurant experience in my life. The women slammed the water on our table (with plastic cups on top, trashy). Then we explained to the waitress how uncomfortable that made us feel, then we got rushed to order our drinks, apps and entrees. She said we had only 8 minutes left for us to order food. This was at 8:30 at night as well. But then a couple next to us sat down 15 minutes after and ordered no problem. They are racist here. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT come here. Horrible service, disrespectful manager, disrespectful staff and racist staff. Absolutely disgusting!

Yelp
There were 12 of us that stopped in last night after our cousins funeral. We got there about 645 which was a little earlier than our reservations so it took a bit to get us seated. Not a big deal as we anticipated this wait. What we didn't anticipate is what came next. Our first round of drinks came out fairly quick. Then we waited at least 30 minutes to place our order. 30 minutes after that we got bread and we were fine so far but getting hungry. Since the bread came out we had expected our food to follow shortly after. Another 30 minutes went by and the first of the salads and soups come out. We are now at an hour and half and the waiter finally offered us our second round of drinks. Still no food. After 2 hours and a now almost completely empty restaurant our food came out. The 2 pizzas were mediocre. EXTREMELY thin crust but tasted ok. 2 of our members order gnocchis with meatballs. The meatballs were just ok and kinda edible while the meat sauce was absolutely burnt and disgusting. We had to send those orders back. To the restaurants credit, they did take the food off the bill and replaced with something else that wasn't very good either. The rest of the orders were not very good or appealing either but the family did manage to eat enough but probably left more than they ate. Overall, I would NOT recommend eating here. Between the wait time and the food quality you'd be better off at Fazolis (not a fan of their food either). It's quite sad I would even need to write this kind of negative review about a Kenosha staple. Unfortunately their quality of food doesn't stand up to previous reputation. The only plus side is we now have a story about how terrible experience we had and had a good laugh about it.

Yelp
Drove from Antioch Illinois for supper and good service but another so so Italian restaurant! Kenosha seems not to have any real good Italian restaurant!

Yelp
Happy to report that I've tried Carl's twice since my negative review. That must have just been a bad day. Had pizza again and it was great. Like the good old Carl's. Tonight we had shrimp and eggplant parmesan. Both were outstanding. Great relish tray and soups too. Took 1/2 home portions w9ere so big. Great dinner for sure at a fair price.

Yelp
The restaurant and the outdoor seating is adorable I love the colors. We checked out the menu online and thought it was right up our alley. Such a pity though we never were able to try their food. We were soo turned off by the woman server that was setting up the tables and her attitude that we decided not to eat there. As she was setting up for the shift we stopped by and asked her about the style of pizza they serve. She never once looked up from what she doing and answered on a one word answer NO! And that was it..... Too bad maybe next time
