Vinaigrette - Review - South Congress - Austin - The Infatuation

"Vinaigrette actually makes you feel excited about eating a salad. A New Mexico import, this place is the best thing to happen to your lunch routine if you live or work anywhere nearby. Whether the word “raw” is a word you use to describe your diet, or you just like to do not-terrible things for your body once in a while, you’ll be able to find something you like amongst the giant salads, tasty snacks, and freshly-made fruit drinks. Unless it’s over 95 degrees, you have no excuse not to eat on the glorious back patio under a big oak tree. photo credit: Travis Hallmark" - Katherine Lewin

Best Salads in Austin Restaurants | Eater Austin

"It’s a salad wonderland at the New Mexico import in Travis Heights, where the leafy bowls are divided up by flavor like sweet, savory, and more. Add-ons range from simple (lemon-herb chicken, cilantro-lime shrimp) to fun (grilled-marinated artichokes, panko-crusted goat cheese). Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

Austin’s 14 Most Underrated Restaurants

"Fancy salads? Yes, fancy salads. The New Mexico import offers well-crafted salads chock-full of bright vegetables, sweet fruits, and substantial proteins. It doesn’t hurt that the space is also stunning, from the airy building to the tree-filled patio. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury, Erin Russell

Best Healthy Restaurants in Austin | Eater Austin

"Vinaigrette takes the traditional salad bar to a new standard. The salad bistro offers a variety of savory, sweet, or balanced salad entrees made from locally sourced ingredients, including the owner’s own farm out in Bastrop. Pair the salad with healthy soups, side, or opt for a hearty sandwich instead." - sommer-brugal

I had the beet goes on, goat cheese, arugula, and beets ... can never go wrong with that combo! The pepino was a very delicious refreshing drink, very light flavor which I particularly enjoy. I wouldn't recommend the mushroom stew, and some of the foods can be on the spicier side so check ahead of time. Tried all 3 desserts, the chocolate torte was really rich and delicious. The atmosphere was the best part!

Google
I ordered out! They were very quick & friendly. I ordered the Asian salad with tuna. You get 3oz of tuna with the order and my total was $35 for just the salad & meat add on. It was a great salad but not any better than the others around that have very similar items for a much lesser price tag. I don’t think I’ll be coming again for a takeaway lunch but definitely want to come back to check out their cocktails. The menu looks amazing.

Google
This place was amazing. The salad was big and filling. It is pretty pricey but it was worth it. I ordered the beet goes on salad with steak and it was great. I also order the liver lover drink. There was a lot of cayenne and it was a bit spicier than I would have liked but if you like a spiced kick then you’ll love that drink. The staff was wonderful and so friendly. We sat outside in the grass area and it was beautifully arranged. I would definitely recommend and I hope to go back soon.

Google
Such a great spot! The salad was fresh and delicious, and the Pimm’s Cup was one of the best I’ve had. The patio is spacious and comfortable — perfect for relaxing on a nice day. Even better, they’re dog-friendly, which made it even more enjoyable. Great food, great drinks, and a great vibe. Can’t wait to come back!

Delicious lunch experience while visiting Austin once again. Healthy and natural ingredients blended to pop in your mouth. So yummy!!

Google
Visited Austin for a concert with my boyfriend and was craving a salad/sandwich combo. One of my friends recommended this place, so we decided to try it out. Food was good, kale fritters (i think that’s what they’re call) were really good!! But the customer service was so bad. :/ We got sat, our waitress (white Female) took a while to come to our table, but I understand that sometimes you get busy since I am a server myself. Once she got to the table, she did not introduce herself and just asked us what we wanted to drink, we both said waters since we were still looking at the menu and it was our first time there. She then proceeded with “any kale fritters?” I politely declined and said we will keep looking at the menu, but thank you. She then rolled her eyes at us and turned around. I looked at my boyfriend with my eyes wide open and so did he, we were actually in shock since we are always so polite to our servers, and this was the first time this happened to us. I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day. But, right behind us was were two girls (white F), and they were politely greeted, and receiving good customer service throughout their visit. It was obvious that the audience were white customers, and we were the only hispanics there. Since I am a server, I know other servers stereotype latinos to be really bad tippers, so they tend to give bad customer service. It’s really disappointing to think that, but that’s usually how it is. We still tipped 20%, but due to the customer service we had, we will not be going back, which is unfortunate because we actually enjoyed the food and drinks.

Google
One of my favorite types of restaurant atmospheres. Fresh, delicious food. Wonderful service Focaccia bread 5/5 - only $2! Fluffy bread with the perfect crunch Soup of the day 5/5 - baked potato w/ bacon & green onions. I liked how straightforward it was, add your own touch of salt La pepita salad 4/5 Mac n cheese 3/5 - the cheeses are a bit bland for my taste Grilled artichokes 5/5 - cooked perfectly, loved the lemon on them Black bean & kale nachos 5/5 Such a cute austin find 🥰

Lydia Bravo

Google
I’ve had a bunch of people recommend this place, so I really wanted to love it—but honestly, it was just okay. The kale nachos were the only thing I actually liked. I also tried the mushroom soup, which was way too salty, and the tuna melt, which had barely any flavor. Super bland. The biggest letdown was the service. The three women working there looked like they didn’t want to be there at all. Not friendly, not helpful, just kind of cold. One of them, with curly blonde hair, had it down and kept touching it nonstop—not very sanitary when you’re around food. I don’t think I saw any of them smile the whole time. I might give it another shot, but I'll probably order a salad to-go.

Yelp
What a beautiful, airy and bright space! Loved the fresh and organic feel when you walk in. I noticed they even had a bin of books about plants near some chairs at the entrance to lounge. Came in for lunch and it was perfect to have a healthy and not super heavy meal. We all loved our meals. We shared one of the specials of the day which was the Mexican Meatballs. Had a chorizo flavor to it and we all agreed it would taste amazing in some queso! For my meal I had the Tuna Salad Salad. It comes with albacore, but you can add the Seared Tuna Steak for a total of $26.50. The portions are large. I couldn't finish it all. I really enjoyed the different flavors. The artichoke gave it an occasional bite of caper like tang flavor that I loved. Our waitress was beyond attentive and making sure our drinks were always filled. I can't wait to explore more of their menu and patio on a cooler day!

Yelp
Been coming here for a couple years. The food has always been really good - consistently so. That's the good news. However... I came for a to go order tonight. Apparently they have added an automatic gratuity of 15% to any order over $100. Not crazy about that (note that whenever I eat in, I always tip at least 20%), but hey - I guess that's their new policy. My order came to $98 and some change. With their automatic kitchen surcharge of about $2, that brought my total to $100 and some change, which brought my total to $115 and some change. What??? How is an added charge (which I have no issue with, btw) factored in a to go order to bring a total to the point that an automatic gratuity is incurred?? Again, if I was eating in the restaurant, where I was being served, I have no issue at all. But a to-go order? I was told that "it's their policy". Well, my policy is that I don't patronize places that I believe are attempting to nickel and dime me. This experience tonight genuinely makes me never want to come here ever again. It's a shame, because I really liked this place.

Yelp
Good: Great salads here. My favorite is the Cherry Tart and Asian. Bread was great. Lime cheesecake was fabulous. Waiter brought it out with a candle, so nice. The service was superb, and there wasn't a huge crowd. Nice place to talk and visit. No rush for us to finish and leave. Bad: But the Rueben disappointed me today. Oh well, I'll just not order it again. Not a true Reuben and has a lot of drippy sauce. The music track was a bit irritating as well. You couldn't hear the music except for the constant boom boom of the drums. Must be the acoustics. The track changed and it was better.

Yelp
Vinaigrette has always been one of our go-to restaurants for our of town guests. We visited recently and it is possible the quality is a little reduced than it once was. Still hit the spot and I always enjoy the omega salad with champagne vinaigrette (made vegan that way). I do feel there could be more vegan options, such as vegan cheese. The green drink is quite good too! I recommend sitting outside under the big tree, weather permitting.

Yelp
Decent healthy salad choices and refreshing drinks. I had the kale apple spritz. The interior space is spacious with lots of parking. Nice half booth seats. The service is great. Try a seasonal salad, all very good. Peach prosciutto & Burrata or the regular Cobb salad.

Yelp
I live within walking distance of Vinaigrette so I've been here a few times and keep coming back! It's a great, healthy option in the South Congress area. Food: I almost always get the Kale Caesar, I just switch up the protein I pair with it. My favorite so far is the lemon chicken, it blends so well with the lemon caesar dressing. I've also gotten the steak, which is great too, and the seared tuna. The tuna was a little fishy for my taste but the rest of the table really enjoyed it so to each their own! Service: Everyone at Vinaigrette is always so helpful and ready with suggestions if you need any guidance. The food always comes out pretty quickly as well. Ambiance: The restaurant is very well-designed! It's very bright and airy and the patio is super cute as well. It's great for a quick lunch, light date night, etc. Parking: There's a full lot at the restaurant and street parking.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and really enjoy it. It's a great place to eat if you want something healthy but still satisfying. I love their salads, which you can add a protein to any though some are so hearty that you don't feel like you're missing anything by opting to go without. The mac and cheese is very flavorful and delicious. My sister in law ordered some for my nieces and like Kix cereal, it was kid tested, mother approved. Also not to be skipped are the cocktails. The Kale Mary cocktail is delicious - essentially a bloody mary but herbacious with being more kale and celery forward, making it one of the rare times that you feel healthy imbibing.
google avatar

Elle K.

Yelp
My salad was really good! The juices we got were okay. Inside is pretty with a lot of natural light and there's a cute outdoor area to sit as well. Good place when you want a healthy meal, is a little pricey.
google avatar

Tammy H.

Yelp
What a wonderful place for dinner did you close early but one of my favorite things is there chimichurri on steak. If you're looking for the best cocktails, that's fresh. I recommend a cucumber, Peppino and grapefruit juice here make it interesting because the cocktails have seltzer and even apple cider vinegar. The salads here are delicious and particular the Caesar salad they grilled the Romain hearts and make homemade dressing, very very happy with this place!

Yelp
We were in the mood for something healthy and this place was nearby so we decided to give it a try! Beautiful space, bright and airy with a fun crowd of all ages! Service was fast and friendly. Went with a couple of specials from their menu - a fabulous carrot and micro green salad that was so good, I want to try and replicate at home and loved the peppery olive oil dressing ! On the side we got the healthy- ish jalapeno poppers which were phenomenal, best I have had and they are better for you than the traditional version! Will definitely return as the weather warms to enjoy that outdoor patio!

Yelp
Although the salads are superb (the Asian Cop Salad with flank steak $25), the service was terrible. It took us ten minutes to flag down a passing waitress to take our order. We only saw her twice afterwards: when lunch was delivered and when she brought the check (again after flagging her down). The dining room is airy and comfortable and looks out on a magnificent oak tree in the patio. Getting good service shouldn't be such a challenge.

Tommy S.

Yelp
Food was great. Service could improve a bit. Being able to find a parking spot on Congress was awesome. Inside the restaurant was clean. Having a large patio area with a large oak tree seemed like a great place to be when it is little cooler.

Yelp
What a treat, excellent new-to me restaurant near SoCo! LOVED IT. Clean, fresh and hippy Austin nature vibe. Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Mostly salads but inventive and not the norm. Check out the menu. I had the cherry tart with shrimp salad, it was excellent! Light and healthy - just perfect.

Yelp
This week, I returned to Vinaigrette with another couple as a double-date. We were all in the mood for something light and healthy, so naturally, Vinaigrette was a great option! We quickly found parking in the lot out back, which was covered (car ports) and free. We were seated inside immediately, which was such a relief given the high temps outside. The outside area looks so aesthetically pleasing, so I look forward to sitting there when the weather is a bit cooler later this year. Service staff was attentive throughout our time and knowledgeable about the menu, giving excellent drink and food recommendations. I ended up ordering the lamb salad, which was superb! The salads are all around $18-22, but the portions are quite large, so I personally believe it balances out. I had to box up almost half of the salad and take it home. Highly recommend if you're looking for a healthy, no-resy-needed spot in town!

Yelp
Pretty large place. Nice outside environment. Cool drinks - non-alcoholic too. Lots of gluten free and healthy choices. Great desserts too.

Yelp
A meal you can eat and not feel bad about afterwards The service is always top notch, and the food and ingredients are fresh healthy and full of flavor. The decoration both inside and out are awesome. A great place to take friends for a healthy meal.

Yelp
Great lunch spot! It's spacious and lots of seating available indoors and outdoors. Love all the salad options - makes me feel healthy!

Yelp
We came here on a Thursday right at high noon and we were able to find parking in the rear. Many yelpers have commented on the light airy open interior with calming music (which adds to the vibe) and enormous Live oak outside. On nice days, the outside fills up faster than the inside (we wound up inside). You can bring your dog here, but it has to be outside. You'll be happy to know there seems to be plenty of parking behind the restaurant. They do have a good list of mixed drinks, wines by the glass or bottle, 3 TX craft beers on tap and even frozen drinks. We decided on the Greek and Caesar salads, although mine came with a side of flank steak. I'm glad they do offer you choices of protein, because for me, greens and veggies are not enough. Keep in mind, that side of protein is probably going to be smaller than you expect. However, the salad itself is very generous indeed. There's definitely a group of dedicated servers here who keep the service on point. When it comes time to settle up, you'll notice your bill will have a 2% kitchen appreciation fee added. At least they don't add a credit card fee to the bill and no hand held device with tip recommendation. They have a great business model going on here that keeps you coming back. Plenty of photos for added insight.

Yelp
Got here at aroung 1:50pm ish on a Saturday, and got seated right away. Ambiance - the space felt kinda open, good spacing between tables. Good for small groups gathering and conversations. Service was average, not a whole lot of interactions or conversations and employees there don't seem to be super friendly. Food - I got to try the All Kale Caesar salad with Tuna steak, and a side of the biscuit bites. 1. All Kale Caesar with Tuna steak - This is the first time I had a salad with a very generous amount of anchovies (not blended within the dressing). I would say this Salad is definitely savory, a tiny tiny bit too salty for me but overall good flavor but it does have a decent fishy taste. Tuna steak was a little more cooked than a traditional seared but well seasoned. 2. Biscuit bites - came with 5 pieces of buttery and warm bite-sized biscuits, along with butter, apricot jam, and a berry jam (I think), they were perfect combo.

Yelp
Salads... but fun! If you're like me, you like eating healthy but can sometimes get in an idea slump after too many boring salads. Little did I know, Vinaigrette is the secret to curing to all of your salad woes. With an almost overwhelming amount of salads on the menu, although the restaurant technically deals in only one main item, there is something for everyone. I ordered the Eat Your Peas, mainly because I was intrigued about the warm white mushroom sauté, tart vinaigrette, and bacon. This salad did not disappoint, and left me fuller than I ever thought possible from a salad. You can tell that everything was fresh, with high quality ingredients that left me thinking about how soon I could return. My friend ordered The Beet Goes On with added chicken, and also enjoyed his meal. Our service was fast, the open air almost atrium-like feel of the restaurant was refreshing, and the food was unique and delicious. Don't sleep on Vinaigrette!

Yelp
Stopped in around 11:30 for lunch. Was seated promptly and had great service throughout the meal. Fresh flowers on all the tables and a really warm inviting space. The menu is fresh with lots of great options. The table went w 3 different salads and all of them looked amazing. We had the single serving of guacamole and chips and it too was tasty. A great spot w great food!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm giving this place 3 stars because the salad was extremely underwhelming. The caesar really came out with 5 large pieces of lettuce and some cheese shredded on top. very confusing. These salad places need to be stopped
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
Vinaigrette is a great healthy spot in South Austin with a large patio. It is an expensive salad spot but the flavors were excellent. The servers are friendly and took care of our table. I'll be back.
google avatar

Shane L.

Yelp
First time here and I can't wait to go back with more people! The menu looks amazing and I look forward to trying a lot more dishes here. The service was excellent! My server suggested this salad and it was perfect! The vibe is good and the place is clean! Some tables are pretty close to one another so, don't plan on having a private conversation here. Besides that, give this place a shot! You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Sat outside on a mild February night and it was a very pleasant experience. We had a fantastic server who was fun, engaging and knowledgeable about the menu. The table tried 3 different salads and the wings. Everyone was pleased with their choices and hubby's decision to try the wings was a solid choice! The sandwiches that we saw being delivered to other tables looked good, so if you have someone in your group hesitant to go to a restaurant known for salads, please convince them to give this place a try. I doubt anyone in your group will be disappointed. We also tried several cocktails plus the carrot cake and cheesecake for dessert. The desserts were very good! It was a unanimous decision that this is a place worth returning to.

Yelp
Overall one of my partners favorite places to get a salad. She usually gets the beets salad and I have to admit even though I hate beets I enjoy it as well. The last time I was there I had the chopped salad which really did not hit the spot for me. The celery overpowered everything else in the dish. The drinks are fine but I wouldn't order again. Overall they have a big selection so I would give it another try - or I'll just stick to beet salad.

Gabrielle S.

Yelp
I've been here plenty of times and have been remiss in. It leaving a review until now. The salads are flavorful, varied, and hearty. Love trying out the seasonal offerings. Had the corn appetizer and the peach, prosciutto, and burrata salad off of the seasonal menu--both were hits. Also, the mocktails/virgin drinks are great and love trying new ones each time. Today I did the Earth Bite. Service always includes good vibes. Outdoor seating is great when we get classically great Austin weather. I will say that a few months ago in early spring when it was a bit cool and we sat inside near the door, it was a tad uncomfortable, but that's really been the only instance. Definitely plan to keep coming back. Brought my coworkers here a few months ago and now they are introducing oth

Yelp
Best salad selection in Austin. Cool waitress, and nice outdoor patio with big oak to sit at. Also great for healthy delicious inventive takeout lunch. Higher tier than sweetgreen but "you get what you pay for" holds here (not that it's fine dining either, still feels justifiable to pay for a to go lunch). Every salad has been great and their tuna melt is divine

Yelp
Austin's hottest restaurant is vinaigrette (it's been around for a long time lol) I came here not expecting much, just a good salad, but I was truly blown away when I entered this fine establishment. I mean really, I was ebullient at the sight of the mid century modern light pendants and the lavish green tile. I ordered the Cuban torta, sadly only a side Caesar salad, but this sandwich was downright dangerous!! If I had one more bite the staff would've had to roll me out of there! My brother ordered the Mexican medio litro coke, which I had the honor of sipping from, and when I tell you that it tied the whole meal if not restaurant together, it did just that. No dessert for us sadly, but we did have an amazing time with the amazing staff! We had reservations for 5:30, but it was not needed as there were only 2 tables booked! Feel free to come in at any time of the day, I'm sure you will be able to enjoy this amazing gem located just off of south Congress! I have told every single person I have come across in the last month about this place, that's how good vinaigrette is.
google avatar

Emily E.

Yelp
Just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the busy strip we know and love as South Congress, Vinaigrette has convenient parking lot and adjacent street parking. The restaurant boasts both a large indoor space with beautiful green tiling on the walls and a clean, modern interior, as well as a South Austin kinda vibe outdoor space with plenty of seating surrounding a magnificent, giant oak tree. The service was friendly and attentive, and the vibes were positive throughout evening! For drinks, I tried the Pimm's Cup, a gin and ginger beer based cocktail with orange and mint. The flavor was great, but the alcohol seemed to be missing...Perhaps they're very stingy with their pours? As a result, I didn't order additional cocktails since it was essentially overpriced soda water. For dinner, I ordered the Cobb Salad. I was honestly expecting Flower Child sized portions (IYKYK), but they actually provided a very healthy helping of salad with a great balance of leafy greens with meaty protein. Presentation wise, I do wish they didn't mix the salads for you. I like to see everything nicely plated before being mixed, and to have the option of portioning my own dressing. Maybe something to be requested in the future. There were some ingredients that were a little "warmer" than I would have liked for a cobb, but all in all, not bad! I truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the plants, and the friendly service. Definitely recommend for a casual night out!

Yelp
Loveeeee this place. Had amazing apps, drinks, service and salad. We sat outside on a lovely fall day and the vibe was a+ Wish they had one of these in Philly (open one please!)

Yelp
10/10 experience! Delicious food. My friend had the Asian Chopped salad with chicken & I had the Beet Goes On salad with marinated artichokes which were incredibly filling and tasty. And the carrot cake, CHEFS KISS!!! Our server, JerBear, was very pleasant. Will be going back ASAP!
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
This restaurant has a fantastic menu especially if you are interested in salads or plant-based options. Of course, you can always add protein but it's nice to see so much creativity with salad options. They have a fantastic outdoor seating area with gorgeous trees too! All juices are squeezed in house and truly delightful.
google avatar

Chilly P.

Yelp
vinaigrette is a bit pricy but their salad portions are huge. the ambiance and service is top notch. the outside is such a gorgeous space to relax and enjoy your meal. oh and the drinks are great!
google avatar

Lianna T.

Yelp
Filling, high quality, fresh ingredients with a menu of any type of salad you can imagine. While prices are a bit high - the salads are creative and flavorful. Our table ordered the Asian Chopped Salad and Greek Salad, adding protein of shrimp as well as griddled tofu. All was delicious. The restaurant itself has a modern, industrial vibe and is in a perfect spot right off of Congress that feels both activity-adjacent and secluded at the same time. The outdoor area is shaded by an impressive and beautiful tree - and is a perfect spot to gather and enjoy a healthy meal.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
I've had Vinaigrette many times to go but have eaten in their outdoor area a couple of times which is like a cute little mini park. Service is always good but hate the parking. The salads are delicious but holy cow are they expensive! I almost always get The Beet Goes On with Chicken. It's the perfect blend of savory and tangy with a hint of sweet. I'm not usually a fan of beets and this is probably the only thing I will order that has them. Another thing I'm usually not a fan of is kale, but their kale fritters with sriracha aioli is definitely worth trying. For cocktails, the Vinny Margarita is tasty and refreshing.
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
I was looking for something healthy. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. Love the vibe inside and outside. The thunder storm rolling in only added to the ambience. I had the Brussels and grilled chicken salad that is currently their specials. The Thai Brussels were stupid good. 10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
The building has housed many restaurants, but the space has never looked more attractive. It's bright and airy, lots of windows with views of the lovely patio and historic old oak that anchors and shades the outdoor space. Very nice. The menu has many interesting salads that cover all taste palates: savory, sweet, meatless, and many with meat or options to add meats, chicken or fish. it was difficult to decide on one. If you're not in the mood for salad, there are also several choices of hot sandwiches and soups. My Asian Chopped Salad was a bowl full of goodness. I added grilled tofu, and it was quite filling. Vinagrette is a great choice for a meal or a drink in the full bar.
google avatar

Daphne L.

Yelp
Beautiful building and ambiance- attentive staff! I had the beet salad with shrimp added- excellent choice. We shared the zucchini queso- needed a bit more salt but didn't stop us from fighting over finishing it all. The show stopper was the carrot cake- freshly made and healthy, right?!
google avatar

Rachelle J.

Yelp
Cozy spot for a Friday night date with plenty of healthy and creative salads, soups and sandwiches. Great quality ingredients and an attentive staff! Would definitely recommend for anytime of day for a bountiful serving size. I couldn't finish my salad it was so big so come hungry! Lovely outdoor space for the summer months as well!

Rick L.

Yelp
Horrible service and poorly kept restaurant based on the following: 1. Got seated and table had a dead mosquito right in the middle with crumbs all over the side of the table where condiments were placed. 2. Menus were dirty and sticky to the point that I found myself trying to minimize touching it (and I'm not grossed out easily). 3. My wife noticed a roach walking on the floor under the table behind me. 4. A server never came by during the 15 minutes we sat there experiencing the previous 3 items above. (The silver lining here is that it made walking out before ordering anything.) If I had experienced any single item above, I would have easily disregarded it as a one-off, but to go through all that in one sitting is simply unacceptable.

Yelp
This is my go-to place for salads in Austin! There is plenty of seating and it has a nice vibe. The waitstaff is also usually friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is that it's a bit pricey. I'd recommend this as a place to go if you are visiting or live in Austin and enjoy eating healthy.

Yelp
Remember when Treehouse Grill was here? Cozy little Italian joint with cheap wine deals and the absolute best cannelloni? Those were the days! But I digress. I'm not here to give 5 stars to the now defunct Treehouse Grill... I like salad. I eat it all the time. Grilled Caesar was a hit with child #2. I thought the Pepita was bland. Just bland. Hubby thought the Cobb was okay but also a bit bland. He regretted not getting a sandwich. Portions are large. So are the prices. $15-25 depending on your choice of protein. That's a lot for a salad. Apps and cocktails are also memorable only for their prices.

Yelp
We have a monthly girls dinner together, and this was the place one of the girls picked. It has a nice little setup off South Lamar built around a large tree in the patio space. It was a nice day last night, so we all sat out on the patio under the string lights hung from the massive tree. The interior of the restaurant is more industrial and modern! The specials change periodically based on what is fresh and available, however, the main menu seems to remain the same. We all ordered salads and I got the Beet Goes On, the earthy taste of the beets with the pistachios, arugula, and spring mix was really refreshing and just what I needed for a Wednesday evening. If i'm ever wanting a lighter dinner this will definitely be a spot on the top of my list!

Yelp
The hours posted online aren't correct. I went to the restaurant on Sunday at 2pm and there was a sign taped to the door "we are closed at 1pm for a private event." Call before you go, because if you don't, they may not be open to the public when you arrive.

Yelp
Price to Taste Ratio = Moderate Great place for a salad lover. It seems healthy but it does seem that these salads might have higher fat content then leads on with dressing added. (I would ask for dressing on the side for next time personally) Salads are a great portion size you definitely will be full after one. Cherry Tart Salad - great taste, chicken on the side was dry. A lot of dried cherries and nuts. Chop chop - would order again. Great safe option if you like chopped salads. Macaroni Side - too watery, not a lot of flavor in this. Would pass. Veggie Sandwich - great flavor - awesome taste for this great for veggie lovers. Very cool Austin ambiance, very clean and awesome outdoor space! Overall a great spot for a lighter lunch in Austin!

Yelp
Upscale Salad! Upscale Decadence! Get plowed in a museum quality modern building! Stuff your face with chocolate! And its ALL healthy because ! You are having salad ! ! You are having salad ! ! You are having salad ! What is the downside? * * * Vinaigrette is an absolutely first rate salad restaurant at the Southern tip of Soco. Being at the Southern tip means that the seven hundred thousand six million tourists that swarm over South Congress have largely dissipated by the time you get down to Vinaigrette. Hallelujah! Tourists, thanks for throwing all those bucks into the Austin Economy. I am aware that I couldn't be eating in all the wonderful Austin restaurants I love if your hard earned vacation dollars were not being spent in SOCO. Your credit cards pay the rent on my city. Thank you for everything you do and spend. That said, I am glad my city's financial sponsors are busy buying cowboy boots and drinking margaritas over by Guero's while I enjoy the peace and quiet farther South. Vinaigrette is far enough South to guarantee tranquility. * * * Vinaigrette is not only tranquil but gorgeous. The building itself is a mid-century style triangular season tribute to modernism with massive floor to ceiling windows. The windows look out on one of the nicest sideyards in Austin restaurant. The side yard features a massive ancestral Live Oak that must be 6000 years old. (Okay, it is really only 400 years old - but it looks like it is 6000 years old.) It is one of those awe-inspiring magnificent specimens of dendrology that shamans worship. They perform rites under trees like this to unlock their wisdom. When my wife wasn't watching, I too went under the tree. I performed ancient prayers beseeching the Live Oak for its profound wisdom. The Live Oak said "Get the flourless torte." The Secret of Enlightenment Was Finally Revealed. * * * The flourless torte was everything advertised. I would come back to Vinaigrette again and again and again just for that flourless torte. That said, don't forget that you are here for the salads. The salads too are everything advertised. In my visits, I have had a Caesar Salad with sauteed scallops on top And a Traditional Cobb Salad. Both salads look small. Both salads are filling. I was completely full and satisfied after every one. The scallops on the Caesar salad (or whatever salad you put scallops on) are SPECTACULAR. Everything else I had was really good as well . My wife's gave a strong thumbs up to her Asian salad with tofu. * * * The bar here is also high quality. They do a Pimms Number 1 Cup. Their Pimms is substantially heavier on the vegetables than is a traditional Pimms Number 1. Cucumber abounds. So does a powerful celery taste. They make the same joke about their Pimms Cup that I would have made if they hadn't beaten me to the gag. Their version is a salad in a glass. I do not mind getting drunk on a salad. Jews traditionally have drunk Celery Soda. Jews like celery in all sorts of beverages. Celery stalks were prominent in the Bloody Marys of my youth. A celery alcoholic beverage is not as decadent as some of the other beverages you know such as White Russians or Pina Coladas. But if you are going to follow your salad with an orgasm generating chocolate torte ... You can afford to be a little more restrained on your cocktail. * * * Eat your vegetables.' Look at and listen to the Tree. Life is good at Vinaigrette Whether you are 20 or 6000 years old.

Yelp
My wife and I came by here on a Sunday afternoon. The whole menu is pretty healthy, though I managed to find a Cubano and some Mac & Cheese while my wife had a huge pretty salad. All excellent, but our drinks were what stood out--my health-conscious green thing is something I could drink everyday--and yes it was alcoholic. I loved the patio outside which is sunny and shaded. Our server was very friendly and helpful as well. 5 stars.

Yelp
Great spot! Come for the tree, stay for the salad! Visiting from out of town and found this place. Nice option away from some of the more comfort food offerings.
