Operating since 1964, this family institution now focuses on takeout and delivery—think lasagna, subs, and New York–style pies. Covered by the Winston-Salem Journal for its transition, it remains a touchstone for old-school Italian in the city.

We have been getting pizzas at Vincenzo’s for a couple years. All of a sudden it seems the ingredients have been changed. The sauce has been changed and is not as flavorful. The crust is pre-made and taste and texture is not the same as it was a year ago. The owners should consider going back to their old sauce and make their own crusts again. In today’s world of cutting corners, a restaurant with a good reputation cannot afford to change the product that made that reputation

Had a great meal. The lasagna and chef salad are excellent Thank you James and staff for a great meal.

The food is great and the service is excellent. Just a little FYI, ever since covid, they no longer have dine in. Take out and delivery only.

The Vincenzo's Experience ( Curbside Edition)... I called the restaurant old school style and placed my order over the telephone. I was given half an hour for a pickup time, and upon arriving, I called and notified the inside of my arrival. I ordered pasta with meatballs with extra meat sauce and a caesar salad. (I guess I am biased since I have been eating at this restaurant since a kid.) Someone came out and took my payment while another person brought my food, so it was a fast transaction. The food here is consistently good and taste as it did years ago. I truly enjoyed my food.

If you like greasy burnt pizza, this is for you. If you want to get charged for extra cheese and get nothing, this is for you. Cheap cheese, nothing but grease.

Google
Pizzas and meatballs are always a hit. Reasonably priced and pretty quick for pick up, there's a reason these guys have been around for so long

I can't rave about this place enough. We've gotten so bored of takeout during quarantine, but this restaurant we could order from again and again and be happy. For ~$35 today we got a MASSIVE 20" pizza, an order of cheesy garlic bread to split, and a slice of THE BEST chocolate cake I've ever had. Their pizza sauce is really good on its own, not too bold or overwhelming with acid, they never skimp on the toppings, and it's real sloppy, messy, delicious pizza. The garlic bread was a sliced Italian loaf, not soggy or too crispy, topped with melted mozzarella. The cake HAS to be made with pudding mix -- it's definitely homemade, not the frozen kinds of cakes that stores normally buy. It's covered in chocolate flakes on the outside, filled with creamy chocolate on the inside, and finished off with a rich chocolate ganache drizzle and a light spray of powdered sugar. Perfectly rich, and always moist. This restaurant has the best food!

Google
Excellent food , service & ambiance . Enough parking behind building . Food took time but that seems to be a common problem in every eating place and I will not hold it against the establishment if they can't get decent kitchen help. Steak, shrimp, pasta, meatballs & sausage, chicken & fries were enjoyed by all. Minestrone soup and sauteed mushrooms in olive oil were perfect. Wine available.

Yelp
We got takeout from vincenza's tonight. Their pizza is really really good. I got the Pasta ala Vincenzo which is a baked pasta that has their marinara and meat sauce. It was very very tasty.

Yelp
This neighborhood Italian spot has been around for over 20 years now. Unfortunately, Covid resulted in the restaurant stopping dining in in early 2022 because they were not able to employ adequate staff. They still offer take out and deliver from a much reduced menu. I wanted a Stromboli, but this Italian classic is no longer offered. So instead I took a lunch special - 1/2 Italian Sub with a salad and fountain drink for $8 and some change. The order was available quickly and I was on my way. This was a nice lunch - the salad was fresh tasting and flavorful, bolstered by the house Italian dressing. The sub was quite nice as well, well filled with ham, salami, pepperoni, and cheese, then topped with lettuce, tomato. & mayo on nice crusty roll. A good lunch at a very good price!

Yelp
I would give more stars if I could. Not only was the food delicious but they delivered it in the snow. Fast, friendly service is an understatement. We ordered a pizza, garlic knots and a kids spaghetti. The entire family was happy!

Elisabeth M.

Yelp
I got the small pizza and salad lunch special and it was a perfect sized lunch. It was easy to order inside and the gentleman who helped me was good. Made me miss eating in there just because it's such a long standing institution! Food was good and fresh.

Yelp
I really enjoy Vincenzo's! Here's the stitch Lilo, I'm lactose intolerant so I cannot have a lot of dairy so I still indulge but at a level I can handle, so with that being said, I order the kids lasagna. That comes in a 4x4 of awesomeness! It's fresh & homemade. It comes with garlic bread which odd not handy in garlic but it's perfect for dipping in the extra sauce with you get plenty of. The lasagna: it's light meaning it's not heavy on the guts coming from a no dairy girl. However, I still suggest to be cautious for those that are lactose. It's flavorful but just the right amount. You can add more flavor and it's still bomb but this was just right for me. I love the sauce, it's not salty it's sweeter which I prefer. The meat is crumbled but not fine so you get texture. They provide extra sauce which I love. The atmosphere: there's a drive thru if you want that, however, if you go in, there's no dine in. You come in and see a wall of men (celebs) that have visited the restaurant .The staff is always nice & welcoming! Try for yourself!

Yelp
Food was amazing!!! Some of, if not the best pizza in Winston!!! Quick service! Fresh and delicious! Thanks Vincenzo's!!!!

Yelp
I've tried nearly everything on the menu and it's truly a 10/10 place to eat. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in WS.
google avatar

Tessa B.

Yelp
I've only been to Vincenzo's a handful of time, but it's one of my favorite Italian restaurants. I love the atmosphere. It feels nicer than most sit down restaurants, without that uncomfortable feeling. The food is pretty good. I usually go between the tortellini, lasagna and stromboli.
google avatar

Yelp
I've always loved Vincenzos food. Last night was a different experience. The subs were great but they burnt my pizza so badly it was inedible. The crust was so hard i thought I'd break a tooth!
google avatar

Ben S.

Yelp
Solid old-school Italian place with an old, dark atmosphere. Good red sauce and nice New York style pizza. I enjoy the bread service and pasta dishes as well. Good eggplant parmesan, too!
google avatar

Vicki C.

Yelp
I always buy a meatball sub as extra in case the pizza isn't good and boy am I glad I did! First pix you can see the sauce is about at a 5% ratio. It's was dry and disappointing. I usually don't say anything unless it's good but even my 24 year old dtr wouldn't eat it and you know that age eats anything. Sadly to say never again. There are so many other great places out there. Just wanted to try this place to take a chance.

Yelp
Like Jennifer C., I also had a Groupon for Vincenzo's. It's an interesting place. The ambiance and low lighting would indicate an upscale, intimate environment but the service doesn't match that level of expectations. Our server, while friendly, was very laid back and not terribly attentive. We started off with a bottle of red wine that was served with wine glasses that were frosty like they were straight from the cooler. Cold glasses aren't exactly what I would serve a bottle of red wine with. Our salads were standard fair. Iceberg, two tomatoes, cucumber. . yawn. I got the Penne a la Vincenzo's which was basically baked penne with meat sauce on top. It was pretty good. The portion was a bit skimpy I thought. I'm used to huge portions and leftovers from Italian places. All in all, dinner was fine. I hadn't been to Vincenzo's in years but I'll probably return again in the not so distant future.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this family owned Italian restaurant. Party of 8 dining at 6:00 on a Friday night. I was concerned the restaurant would be crowded, but it was only half filled. Service was a bit slow. It took 45 min. for our entrees to make it to the table. Restaurant did begin to fill up later. The salads were prompt, but I was a little disappointed. The salad consisted of ice berg lettuce, 2 cucumbers, red onion & 3 - 4 tomatoes which could be elevated by a great salad dressing. Unfortunately, the home-made blue cheese lacked flavor. Other diners were more pleased with their dressing choices: thousand island & Caesar. On to the entrees. We had chicken & eggplant parm. with a side of spaghetti with marinara sauce. The chicken parm. was a little bland & not as tender as I would have liked while the eggplant was great. The marinara sauce was good, but tasted as if it would benefit from cooking longer to develop a deep dark rich red sauce. The lasagna was good but need a little more spice. Same situation with the sauce. A nice rich sauce could have pulled this dish together. We also had the daily special - salmon, fettuccine & fresh broccoli. Salmon was very well prepared. This restaurant is reasonably good & the prices are average. With a little work, I think it can return to prosperity! Give it a try. I love local restaurants.i

Yelp
Here's the order we placed for delivery. 2 orders of calamari 1 philly cheese steak sub + grilled mushrooms Side salad 1 cannoli First off the calamari was what we would call frozen, pop in the oven calamari. The portion size was about a big handful of breaded calamari and no piece was bigger than a quarter. The sub was cold. Poorly constructed, all of the meat which was about 4oz total was on one side of the 8-10in sub, we added grilled mushrooms for $1.00 and ended up getting maybe 5 slices of it. There was a total of 3 pieces of bell pepper and very few onions. Very very disappointed in the flavor in all. We added black pepper and salt here. Salad was very small for $4. Just 3 croutons. Hardly any dressing, it was about 6 bites worth of a salad. At least the cannoli came in semi-mediocre. Our company will NEVER order from here again. Enjoy.

Yelp
Locally owned, family run and delicious. I have always enjoyed very personal service here. My first choice for Italian dining in Winston-salem.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Oh yummmmmmmmm y'all! Excellent and authentic Italian food served up here. I had the lobster Alfredo fettuccine with a great side salad (the Italian house dressing is amazing). Hubby had the chicken eggplant parm and he devoured it. I'm picky about my red sauce- there's is killer! Steamed broccoli done well. Both the salad and the broccoli were larger than average too. I've been meaning to go to this place for so long- so glad we did as it's now my favorite Italian spot in Winston! Ps I've only had takeout so I can't comment on the service or ambience but their food is all thumbs up!
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
Ordered on Uber Eats. Long story short, the food was pretty tasty and arrived warm but a little on the oily side which isn't a bad thing as long as you believe it's all EVOO. My biggest problem was the amount of food provided for the price I paid. The portion size for the chicken Marsala was piddly at best-a cup of cooked noodles with perhaps maybe half a chicken breast in the marsala. Not at all worth ~$30 with a $5 app, tax, and tip. Maybe it's better sitting down in the restaurant?
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
There's a reason I have eaten here or had delivery one to two times a month for the last 22 years. Consistency and delicious Italian cuisine.
google avatar

Karl K.

Yelp
Vincenzo's has a simple but cute exterior, a very cozy and inviting interior, and a friendly, helpful staff. I had high hopes. Unfortunately, these attributes did not translate into the pizza experience I was hoping for. The biggest problem with my pizza was the crust was soggy-- it stuck to the cardboard in the middle. Badly. The outside of the crust tasted fine, but the sauce was a little too salty. The rest of the ingredients just did not impress--mediocre. I was sad.

Yelp
Arrived in a hangry state after a play ran long. We showed up about 15 minutes to closing on a Thursday night thinking we might be lucky enough to score some breadsticks to go. To our surprise, the head of the house seated us with pleasure and the wait staff never rushed us. The full menu was available and came out quickly which was extremely appreciated by the little kids in the group! The large classic and hearty Italian dishes were in keeping with the high red leather-backed booths and dim lighting. So for those of you who want a clean, never trendy but always reliable, delicious dinner out this is the place. Now they just need to get a Sinatra impersonator to perform and a "leave the gun, take the cannoli" sign and I will be there every night!

Yelp
We have been going to Vincenzo's for years and our experience there keeps getting better as we get to know the staff and they get to know us. Our service has been consistently friendly and prompt, and food is always well prepared. This is not a luxurious restaurant, but a nice one where you can feel comfortable with friends and family, enjoy a very good selection of wines that won't break your wallet, and order from a selection of entrees that should please every palate that will always be prepared well. I'd particularly recommend the Norwegian salmon.

Max C.

Yelp
My go-to for pizza delivery. Really nice people and good food.

Yelp
It's my favorite restaurant of all time. Love the food and enjoyed my first job working under the Patella umbrella. Richard and James are class acts. Worked here as a high schooler as a "salad technician" and later as a waitress in college. I'd order their chicken Alfredo nearly every night of the week I worked. And I certainly make a point now to eat their food whenever I'm back in town. Delicious food and great people. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This restaurant has been here since 1964. It's a very comfortable family Italian restaurant. Not fancy but solid on traditional food at a reasonable price. We usually bring a bottle of wine. With a $10 corking fee, it makes having wine with dinner very reasonable. We had two appetizers, the spicy shrimp and fried raviolis. Both were great. The shrimp weren't as spicy as normal but were tasty. For dinner we split the special Shrimp Scampi. Mary was our waitress and did a great job. When she brought the Scampi, I said "No salad?" She had forgotten but we didn't mind. She felt bad and did the right thing offering a dessert. We had the Lemon Cello cake and it was great. Looking for a nice place to take the family for a nice Italian dinner? This is the place.
google avatar

Jocelyn M.

Yelp
Vincenzo's marina sauce is excellent and I enjoy the quality mozzarella/Parmesan that they use on their pizza, and shrimp Parmesan. The servings are large, I can stretch my favorite dish, the shrimp parm into 3 meals!! (It's really that big) Negatives, house salad is weak (iceberg lettuce and few toppings) and most notably the decor, it is very dark and looks like a vintage basement, complete with wood paneling. I care more about food than the restaurants decor, so I will continue to eat here, wood paneling and all!

Yelp
I can't believe Vincenzo's doesn't have more stars. I've been coming here all of my life. It's been in the family for generations and my parents remember fondly of coming here while dating. It's a place that gets in your blood. It's easily the go-to restaurant for special events like birthdays and graduations. While the decor isn't hip by any means, it's cozy and clean. To be honest, it's a hidden gem. My favorite is their specialty: the eggplant parmesan--it's absolutely amazing. It's served with a side of spaghetti but is easily swapped out for fettuccine alfredo. Hello! Mix the white and red sauces and hog the bread basket. It's incredible. Some other goodies from the entree list: manicotti (my sister's favorite), chicken marsala (mom's), and chicken parmesean (dad's). You really can't beat their sauces either. Go on and order that extra basket of bread cause you're going to need it. My dad highly enjoys their spumoni ice cream--the only Italian restaurant around here that has it. It has chocolate, pistachio, and cherry swirl in it. Tastes like a wonderful Christmas. For starters, calamari hands down. Just try it. Dip in their sauces. Let it linger. So good. If they weren't closed right now, I'd be ordering some of that calamari. So if you're digging the food like me (or want to try it out) but maybe not digging the decor, order out. They deliver! Keep doing what you're doing, Vincenzo's. :-)

Yelp
Reviewing because I think it deserves more stars. Don't get me wrong: this is not a high end restaurant. It is a very nice neighborhood Italian restaurant. Red check tablecloths, garlic sticks in cellophane wrappers, dim lighting, overstuffed booths, old people until 7:00 kind of neighborhood place. The food is excellent, the prices are fair (not the lowest, but Vincenzo's sustained me through college and grad school in the 70s with its spaghetti). We love the chicken parm, the various pasta dishes, the cannolis. The hostess/cashier is always a cute Wake Forest coed ;-)

Yelp
I really wanted to have a good experience at Vincenzo's. The restaurant is almost within walking distance from our house; and who doesn't want a good Italian restaurant in their neighborhood? Here's Vincenzo's biggest problem--one that plagues many Italian restaurants in America: It's dated. The decor and menu are both at least 40 years old. With it's dark lighting and dark timbered wood, I felt like I'd stepped back in time to about 1970. The menu is also equally dated, with emphasis on few basic traditional dishes. Based on the menu prices, I was really surprised that instead of fresh bread we were served a basket of crackers and hard packaged "bread sticks." The salad lacked any color and presentation, and the red sauce on my pasta was heavy and dull. As we left, the owner's son cheerfully thanked us for visiting. This told me that there's potential there at Vincenzo's, but until the father/owner can see that this restaurant needs a makeover and update, I don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
Amazing food great prices great staff great atmosphere this place is the best kept secret of Winston-Salem
google avatar

Yelp
Love it. The service is always excellent. The consistent quality is great. It's my go-to place where I can also bring a large group.

Yelp
We purchased a Groupon and went at lunch time. Obviously the happening place for senior citizens. The place was dingy and dark and smelled musty. That in itself is a major turn off. The waiter was nice enough. The salads were basic cafeteria standard. I asked for house dressing, which they did not have so instead got food service italian. Whatever. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce, it was fine. My son got pizza, fine also. Nothing spectacular but the place itself is in MAJOR need of a facelift and cleaning. Won't be going back...

Mike L.

Yelp
I have been eating at this restaurant since 1977, 41 years. This restaurant has been family owned and operated for many more years than that. I think they originally opened in 1964 at a different location. The restaurant never fails to impress me with the quality of the food and the terrific wait staff. It is a "must visit" for our son whenever they come back to Winston-Salem. My personal favorites are the Lasagna or the Veal Marsala with the Fettuccini Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce is the best I have ever had. The Eggplant is also very good. If you are more in the mood for a pizza, you can't go wrong here. Dining on the weekends can involve a wait if you don't reserve a table and so that is recommended. I highly recommend this restaurant for the quality and price of the food.

Yelp
If I could rate a 10 I would!! They have a wonderful dinning area and awesome food. Oh, on the plus side awesome art to enjoy with the great wine selection. We had Laura as our server and she was amazing and very informative about the menu. MIST GO!!!

Yelp
Best Eggplants Parm in town, family loves cheesesteak. Looks like 1964, but service fast and food delicious. Will try Hispanic menu net time.

Yelp
Family owned Winston Salem tradition! Good basic Italian pasta house. Fast and fresh. Monday all you can eat pasta is a big hit with my teenagers. Fill s them up but doesn't cost much. Kids love the mozzarella bread

Donna S.

Yelp
Family own business since 1964.Even though the building is old,it's a great place for spaghetti.lagazne ( my favorite) and pizza. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. Today I had the lunch special. They even gave me a senior discount.

Larry R.

Yelp
I seriously think people in Winston wouldn't know good food if they ever had it. The fact that anyone would give this place an above average review is incredible. This is the worst example of an Italian restaurant I have ever seen. The thing is, the owners know this. They know it's bad food and don't care because they know many folks in Winston can't tell. My 8 year old son cooks better food than this. Canned tomato sauce, pasta bought at food lion, lance Italian breadsticks, etc. And $20 + a plate on top of that. Come on people! Don't be this foolish. Avoid this place unless you're over 75 years old and have no taste buds left.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to dinner here with a group and being Memorial day we were able to get a reservation. Our server Allison was super friendly as was the rest of the staff . I had the white clam sauce pasta and it was good. For desert the cheesecake with chocolate sauce was awesome. Everyone was pleased with their choices

Yelp
Great food for a great price. There is nothing extremely extravagant or cutting-edge, but the food is tasty and the prices are unbeatable. The lunch menu is especially affordable, $7 for a large serving of spaghetti (I recommend paying $0.50 more for meat sauce), garlic bread, salad, and tea! However, the lunch menu is small. I definitely recommend trying this place. My only complaint is that they close in the middle of the day. This is fairly common and understandable, however, it's inconvenient for people that work irregular hours like myself.

Peter S.

Yelp
Very nice place for lunch with a limited but pleasing menu. The chef's salad is hearty but delicious. Those in my party who chose pasta enjoyed it as well. We'll be back again!

Susan A.

Yelp
Decent food. Not a great salad and nothing spectacular about the spices/flavorings. Grilled bread is brought with the meal.

Daniel A.

Yelp
Here's the shot: There's nothing inventive or creative about this place, but it's also not particularly bad. It's just a classic, old-school, "red sauce all around!" kind of Italian joint. Vincenzo's is the kind of Italian place that every town in these parts had back in the '80s -- standard salads and pasta dishes and pizzas and assorted whatnot. It's certainly not the best Italian food you're going to get in Winston, but it's fairly solid as long as you understand what you're in for.
google avatar

Tracy M.

Yelp
Im not a huge fan of Italian food but Vincenzo's is one of my favorite places to eat in Winston Salem. This is my "birthday" restaurant of choice. While the inside could use a little more lighting and a makeover (it looks like it hasn't been remodeled in at least 20 years), it is clean and the service is awesome! My favorites are the french onion soup, the eggplant parm, and the canoli. They can't be beat.

Mike C.

Yelp
This place has the best pasta with meat sauce in the state !! My family has been going here for over 20 years. It's just a family type restaurant. The decor isn't all that great. The service is always good. Of course, we're one of the regulars so we get petted a bit. All of our regular servers know our order and just verify that's what we want. I know, there are some snobs out there that look down on places like this. All I can say is, if you want some good basic Italian food and very reasonable prices, this is the place to go.
google avatar

Diane P.

Yelp
Great weekday Italian trattoria. Try the Eggplant Parm, and the meat balls are great...tender and well seasoned!
google avatar

Cin R.

Yelp
Waaaay too dark inside, food was whatever, aka I could have made it better myself. Service was fine however.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
We had a Groupon to this restaurant, and had heard that it was voted the best Italian in Winston-Salem, so we went with high hopes. The menu offers the basic Italian-American fare. We ordered the fried calamari but found out that they were out of the calamari, so we ordered fried mushrooms. The batter was fine, but the mushrooms themselves were soggy, and there weren't many mushrooms on the plate. I ordered the eggplant parmesan, which comes with spaghetti marinara (you don't get to choose) and it was only OK. The eggplant was a bit masked/overwhelmed by all the other flavors. My husband ordered veal scallopine. We have never seen veal scallopine cooked this way - cut up in little pieces, no golden crust, no bacon/prosciutto, and a weird sauce, so it was a letdown. The service was much better than the food. Summary: a mediocre experience. Having lived closed to Chicago's Taylor Street (read: Little Italy), I had greater expectations for Italian food. If I go again, I will order the pizza.
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
We had a Groupon so we tried this spot. Decent southern Italian - good sauce. Had the eggplant Parma - good! Lasagna was decent. Onion soup was ok
