The Best Restaurants In Burien - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Think about the best meatball sandwich you’ve ever had. Was it assembled behind a glass wall and toasted in an industrial blast furnace by an angsty teenager? The one at Vince’s changes the game. This spot from the same team behind Pizzeria Pulcinella has been a Burien staple since 1957, and offers some pretty predictable Italian food in a pretty predictable setting. But among the too-salty carbonara and bland eggplant parmesan is a true star—the meatball sandwich. This thing just has perfect meatballs, marinara, and provolone on flaky, soft homemade bread. Eating it with family members squeezed into a vinyl booth with red checkered vinyl tablecloths is just as crucial to the experience. " - Nate Watters

I’m not sure what happened here. I hadn’t been to Vince’s in years after frequenting regularly when I lived in the area. It wasn’t good at all. Bottled blue cheese salad dressing when they used to make in house. No breadsticks. Frozen meatballs. Nothing like I remembered. Not sure if ownership changed but they need to go back to freshly made food. The bread was the only thing that was good.

Best italian food I've had in Seattle so far. The spaghetti sauce is nice and savory and rich, and not watery, just the way it's supposed to be. The meatballs are good and the desserts are really good, and they always give me extra topping when I ask. The chicken mushroom pasta with cream sauce is good too, just wish the chicken was chopped up upon order and it needs some added salt and pepper but with those things it's great. That would be my only critique is some things need some added seasoning, at least salt and pepper. I get that they might want others to add salt to their liking, but some plates come off bland where you have to add salt everytime. Like the shrimp/tomato pasta and chicken mushroom pasta. Still my favorite Italian place in Seattle.

Haven't been back here in 13 years and so much better than I remember. Had the tortellini, amazing! Also ordered the calamari, best ever! Cooked to perfection. Not chewy or greasy. I will always recommend! I hope I can make it back here at least once a year.

Ordered on Doordash... wow! I loved everything! The Side 2 Meatballs are amazing! Best I've had ! Loved the flavor of the sauce! Mixed Green salad was good and the Italian Sub was delicious 😋

I've been to Italy, I'm picky, I'm a foody. Nough said. The menu is big enough to offer something for everyone without being overwhelming. The same can be said for the food. The marinara sauce is so flavorful without the typical acidity or sweetness. I have a terrible stomach (so bad I had surgery recently), and it didn't give even a hint of heartburn! Amazing. The bread...I just can't. You're gonna need to try it for yourself. That's bottomless, free, and they are very generous. They even send a little more with your leftovers. Did I mention that the server packages your leftovers separately per plate!?! Incredible. I just can't say enough good things! Here's some more... The pizza is as traditional as traditional gets. Straight out of an Italian in Italy pizza oven. It's flat, the cheese is fresh sliced - yes, sliced off a fresh ball of mozzarella. The basil is whole leaf. The dough doesn't make you feel like you sucked a bunch of gas in with every bite. It's just simple and yummy in its simplicity. All the food is that way. The only ingredients added are what is expressly needed to bring the food to its best flavor; period. No more, no less. I can not tell you how refreshing Vince's was. Im so tired of going to the supposed Italian restaurants, paying double what we did here, getting less food, and less flavor. Vince's blew all of my expectations out of the water. I will absolutely drive farther from home to eat here again and again! We were celebrating my niece's high school graduation, so we were at the restaurant for 3½ hours. No one ever glared at us or bothered us again after we paid. Incredible.

Google
I’ve heard the name and visited gfs restaurant many times over the years. They were very good and seemed true to an east coast style of Italian food. It was spot on. We went there today and don’t remember this to be the same place. It was good. It didn’t really impress as it has in the past. Hope they can get back to their original flair food food. A fresh coat of paint would help too. I will be back again and give them another try.

Google
We ordered on the website and picked up our pizzas. They were delicious and the salad was fresh and crisp. The only thing I would say is if you have a complicated order with toppings only on half, it may be best to call.

Google
Friendly staff. I ordered the chicken basil lemony pasta it was pretty good except that the sauce was way too oily/greasy like the pasta was drenched of oil it looked like soup on the bottom 😝, the side of French bread was non toasted or warm, it was like a French bread loaf you get at the store and just sliced(Safeway French bread loaf is way better especially warm). My husband had a pizza, it was good but nothing special, I've had better.

Yelp
Denice waited on us this time. Great personality! Fun, efficient and friendly! Had Tortellini with broccoli and Vince's special pizza. Service amazing! Food amazing!

Yelp
The last we went to Vince's in Burien the experience was not good. However we decided to give them another try last night... They were great!!! We walked in and were greeted and seated within the 1st 3 minutes. The server was wonderful and the food was great! I almost wasn't going to try again but am very glad I did!! I even stopped and told the manager how great everything was... We will be back!!!

Yelp
Great place for a casual dinner. This place is clean with hints of nostalgia around. Service is good and food comes out quickly. We enjoyed everything we ate here. Bread was fresh!

Casandra L.

Yelp
Vince's in burien is really good, they have the best Italian foods between pizza and their pasta! The walk in service is amazing but we had a little trouble with our server Denice... She was helpful but she would come to our table talk about personal life and open everything up about her life and how her husband is in the Navy just giving to much information to us while me and my family were trying to eat . Personally not my type of service I would want for a family dinner, but food was delicious and the restaurant left a cozy homey feeling while eating. Would definitely recommend going if you want great Italian food!

Yelp
The food was VERY GOOD and it came out piping hot! The service was great and our server made great recommendations. He remembered everything we asked for. Warm bread, glasses topped off, great wine selection, friendly service. Delicate music playing in the background. Clean restrooms. This was my first time visiting the Seattle area and as we headed towards the airport we stopped by. This was a GREAT choice. I'll see you the next time I'm in the area!! Thanks guys!

Jenna B.

Yelp
Denice is the best server. Every time we come in, she's always on top of her game. She's beyond nice, so polite, courteous, and always willing to give recommendations. She gave excellent and fast service, even boxed up our meals for us. I highly recommend coming into Vince's for a meal. I got the spaghetti all'arrabiata and it was fantastic. Definitely enough for dinner and a meal for leftovers!
google avatar

Cecille L.

Yelp
What a nice restaurant! The service was amazing. I loved my server, I forgot her name but she was super sweet and fun. This seems like a mom and pop restaurant and the decor is super cute. Everyone knows each other here, which I loved. The food was ahhh-may-zing! The gnocchi and the pizza with the garlic was to DIE FOR! I will absolutely come back to this place when I'm in town and recommend my friends here.

Monica L.

Yelp
The family pasta and large salad was plenty for 3 hungry people and more economical. The sauce is on the tart side - liked it. The bread and butter good too. We had 3 desserts - the limoncello, profiteroles and the cannoli. All excellent !! The San pelegrino bottles were tiny and way overpriced at $4 each. Gouging for an Italian restaurant!! They should offer the large bottles like in Italy. The service was good as we would definitely return.

Yelp
I can't believe I went to the Burien location after such a poor experience at the Renton one. But there I was and I have to say, it was better? I think? So I came here with a big party for a birthday celebration and apparently they wouldn't let us order individual entrees for a big party and asked us to order the family style options instead because they had a small staff at the time. I wanted to be considerate and follow that rule, but the rest of the group pretty much said "screw it" and had the waiter take our individual orders. I shared a tortellini bowl which was recommended to me before. I thought it was a solid dish. Definitely better than their spaghetti with meat sauce in Renton. I'm pretty sure for future trips to Vince's I'll avoid any of the red meat sauce dishes and get tortellini or something else with white sauce. That seems to be the key. Service as I said was understaffed. Hostess had a tough time handling the front I would say. Server managed to do his best to accommodate. There was definitely zero communication with him and the managers regarding the big party limitation. Guess we lucked out there. Parking is a bit limited with their small parking lot. It's a tight lot, but there's somehow enough space for all their customers. Go figure.

Yelp
We tried the place more than once just to see if maybe the first time was not a good day because the food wasn't good. After our second time, I ordered chicken fettuccini and it was so dry that it was disappointing. Also, the waitress forgot our table and never refilled our drinks. The service was awful. We will not be coming back to the place.

Yelp
This is our regular go-to Italian Love the creamy carbonara (try with penne!) Vince's Pizza w/ Bell Peppers also +++ Ask for Denice - she's got you covered!!
google avatar

Yelp
Just a run of the mill Italian restaurant. I had the lemon chicken and it was swimming in oil. I probably won't be back
google avatar

Erica C.

Yelp
Monday night special is a good introduction to checking out the basics of the restaurant. And I'd say they are A-OK! Monday night special dinner for 2 for $26 includes a choice of soup or 2 pastas (choice of meat sauce or just red sauce), and dessert. Great deal and will get you full. We also ordered the garlic bread and though it was good, it was not worth the price.
google avatar

Kai C.

Yelp
We are not sure what happened at our last visit. It was our 3rd or 4th time going and this was our favorite Italian joint in the neighborhood. The front staff seemed to be exactly the same people as usual yet they couldn't seem to get things figured out - service was very disorganized; and the pizza did not taste the same - tasted more tart, more vinegar, not sweet enough. Very sad turn of events.

Yelp
I've been coming to Vince's for a long time so I wanted to write a review after seeing some of the comments on Yelp. First of all, if you are thinking of an old school Italian restaurant then this is is the place and you won't be disappointed. There are a lot of "complaint" reviews that are really unwarranted. If you are looking for really high Italian presentation for the food, this is that kind of place. The food here is simple, fresh, and tastes great. On my last trip here, had the Pesto Gnocchi, and my party also ordered spaghetti with clams and a cheese pizza. The gnocchi was soft and I loved the sauce. Clams were fresh and flavorful. The pizza was crispy and tasted great. Would recommend this place to anyone. 4 stars only because the menu and the presentation is on the simple side.

Lisa B.

Yelp
So good! Every dish was done well. I loved the pasta primavera. We were seated right away. Our waitress was friendly.
google avatar

Tamela W.

Yelp
The pizza here is really good. I just tried the gnocchi for the first time and loved it.

Marilyn Y.

Yelp
I rarely write reviews, but this was really overdue -- Vince's food is fantastic! Their sauces are the best I've ever tasted and I am absolutely addicted. I have been using delivery, so I don't have any valid feedback about the service or ambiance, but if it's anything like the food, I'm sure it's great. The cannoli is my favorite, followed closely by the lasagne, and either gnocci dish. Treat yourself to the best Italian food around and go to Vince's!

Lisa Y.

Yelp
We dined at this location last night, the food was delicious! Our waiter Nathan was polite, friendly, delivered our food quickly. Nathan is very personable, and an asset to Vince's. I ordered gnocchi all's Sorrentina, which eas delicious. My husband ordered the calzone, popping hot and delicious, very generous portion. Our daughter ordered gnocchi pesto, delicious as well. I highly recommend Vince's.

Laura L.

Yelp
I ordered a pizza to go, and when I picked it up, the staff at the front desk was very friendly. When I got home to eat it, the dough was nearly raw. I called the front desk and they said the manager would be in touch with me to make things right. However, I did not hear back from anyone from the restaurant. The toppings on the pizza were delicious, but the dough was disgusting.

Yelp
Ordered a few items from this location because this place had good rating on DoorDash however when received the food there was someone else's hair in Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and Calamari Fritti was spoiled based on the smell/taste. Overall the only thing that we could eat is Fresh Baked Breadsticks but really didn't feel like eating anything from them after discovering safety concerns and poor food quality. It's really sad because you'd want small businesses to do good during this time but this isn't just a "bad tasting food" this is a real safety risk.
google avatar

Julia M.

Yelp
DELICIOUS. I read the reviews on here about the service complaints recently. I guess it's fortunate that I ordered Vince's through Door Dash tonight, (delivery to my home). We chose the spaghetti alla carbonara, so fresh and SO tasty. We also ordered the French bread and a 2 topping pizza. The pizza was definitely quality. I do have two complaints. They need to adjust their menu on door dash because I was shorted/item not as described. The French bread was two slices, when on door dash it says 6 inches, "serves 2-3". It's cheap so, oh well. The pizza was a mini off the kids menu and on the door dash menu it states "Includes a small mountain drink or milk". I listed the fountain drink desired. If you're not going to send items as described, please edit your menu advertised. Overall, I STILL couldn't give Vince's a four star rating. Based on what we DID receive, it is absolutely quality and value and DESERVES a 5 of 5. Yum!
google avatar

Isabel R.

Yelp
Never EVER get Carbonara from here. I Love carbonara and if you do too don't try to attempt getting it from here. It was nothing but oil and bacon grease with a side of noodles. VERY disappointing. Wanna be "Spaghetti Alla Carbonara"
google avatar

Jojo M.

Yelp
Seattle, Washington Vince's A favorite Restaurant for years. I've received consistently great service and they have the best chicken Marsala in the world. Tried their pizza and it was good as well. The restaurant was clean, the service is timely and the food was delicious. I will continue to dine here.

Yelp
Had a great birthday dinner for my son and extended family and Denice was exceptionally, running her butt off to make sure we had everything we needed. Really enjoyed.
google avatar

Kristal R.

Yelp
21st birthday celebration for our son, there were ten of us, and to say that we were a needy bunch is an understatement, but Denice handled us with laughter and patience...I mean she ran her butt off and took such great care of us...oh and the food was good too.

Yelp
I know why I went here and I knew it was a bad idea but I did it anyway. I WANT Vince's (or someplace) to be a good, affordable old-school Italian-American casual spot. So far what I have come to know in the Seattle area is if it isn't pizza (which is finally being done well here), it's high-end or modern Italian for a decent meal. If you want mama's "gravy", you go tell mama or you make it yourself. I don't desire to eat Italian out that often, but Spouse does and he likes the kind of food I mentioned above you can't get. We were in the West Seattle/Burien area and he proposed a place that is good, but expensive/more upscale and seems like a waste if you just want pasta and meatballs (his fave). I proposed Vince's. I can't believe an Italian-American fam puts their name on this food. It just wasn't good. Watery marinara, weird tasting meatballs and sausage, and some of the worst eggplant parm I have ever had. It was literally 3 tiny slices of (maybe?) roasted eggplant, watery sauce and a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella. A side of pasta was extra. The restaurant was dead, we should have left while we could. I am giving Vince's 2 stars instead of 1 because our server was sweet. Some say the pizza is good, but I am not planning to find out. I felt so bad for Spouse I made him my mother's meatballs and sauce a few days later, redeeming myself and scoring some major marital points.

Yelp
Went here because Angelo's across the street was mysteriously closed. The service was poor, the ambiance is dated and the food was oily and lackluster. We ordered an antipasti plate for an app and it was just ugly. Canned mushrooms poured on a plate. Whole cloves of garlic and artichoke with a perimeter of meats. I could've made a prettier plate myself w/ items out of my refrigerator. Our food was delivered shortly thereafter. I ordered the chicken limon. The chicken was inedible and dry and the pasta (not homemade) was bathing in a pool of olive oil and pesto grease. Oh, and don't forget a few canned mushrooms on top. My son was a big fan of the calzone and it was massive...but he's also never had a calzone before...so can't really judge based on that. The server checked back only once...when we were done. Next time I'll head to Angelo's!

Debbie S.

Yelp
The rest of my lasagna!! SO GOOD!!! Highly recommend the lasagna, the Chicken Marsala and their pizza!! DEFINITELY give Vince's a try if you haven't been recently. I noticed all their poor reviews were mostly 6 plus years ago. I love this place waaaaay more than Angelo's.....not to say anything bad about them. These 3 dishes hands down blow the one down the street away!!

Michael E.

Yelp
This place is great! Really think it should get some more traffic. We had the spaghetti carbonara, stuffed pasta tubes and breadsticks. I really loved the carbonara, and our server was really helpful - even gave us an extra side of marinara for the breadsticks we were taking home. The carbonara was delicious

Michael B.

Yelp
Good poor very good got the salad with the pizza got the ice tea very late poor service

Yelp
One of the best pizza places in town. I've eatin Vince's since 1982 and I still eat it til this day

Yoshi K.

Yelp
Shared a pep and mushroom pizza, the tortellini special of the day, and the arugula salad and everything tasted great! Denice was wonderful and very attentive. Looking forward to going back!
google avatar

Toby F.

Yelp
This place became disgusting. I came here looking for a decent meal and what I recieved was slop, literally. The pasta I got was undercooked and extremely greasy. When I scooted all the pasta to one side of the plate, I noticed that my plate was completely filled with oil. The only thing that I was able to enjoy was the cheesy bread but it was 6 dollars for 3 pieces of toast, amazing deal. I hope my review helps you guys decide if you guys should eat here.

Yelp
Authentic and delicious! I've been to this restaurant about 6 times now and each time is fantastic. The staff are friendly, the food is fresh and really delicious, and they have great lunch specials and Monday dinner deals. I love that I can count on this local restaurant to have consistent and authentic Italian food, good service, parking, and usually no wait times to be seated. For COVID safety, they are following state mandates. The restaurant was clean and the staff were all wearing face masks.

Yelp
This is a local Italian restaurant that has been here since the 50's. My husband and I used to go eat here weekly, sometimes twice a week since we live so close. We knew all the waiters/waitresses and got to know their families through just conversation. One waitress was widowed and she reminded me so much of my late sister. She was fantastic! We've celebrated many birthdays and such with our kids and grandchildren here too. We always had WONDERFUL service. Dino was a great talker and he was on it! I would order a glass of vitiano wine and he would fill it up. I like good service and people who make the difference. Their pizza is handmade crust. HOWEVER, the last 3 times we have been here sine they opened back up after Covid, the service has been terrible. They're all young kids working there with a few seasoned ones. Our first time back, we thought, well okay maybe they're just getting back into the swing of things. So we let it slide. Our waitress came around twice and I had to get up to go find her in the back. The second time, we got awful service too. My husband's favorite is the Prawns Premivera. It always was made with fresh vegetables and this time you could tell they were frozen veggies and way overcooked. They were soggy. We both seemed a bit quizzled by it. And it was not flavorful at all. Their pasta is very good though! Cooked just right! So okay, it was my oldest son's birthday who would have been 32 so again our kids and 2 grandchildren went after a little emotional day. We made reservations for 5:00. We get there and we're seated early, same table back by the window and brick wall. The young waitress gave us 3 paper menus when their is 6 of us. She didn't come back to take our drink order so I got up and grabbed 3 more menus. It's hard to all be on the same timing when you have to share menu's. The waitress comes back and forgets my hot water with lemon. No big deal. Well, I didn't get it until my pizza arrived. And the kicker is, there's a bunch of kids standing around talking up front. There was no salt or pepper so I had to ask. Twice. For a party of 6 she came to our table 3 times in an hour and a half+. And then to bring the tab. That's not cool. I asked if Dino still worked there and she said he works one day a week in the front. Oh.. Oh.. and I mentioned when she brought my 1/4 cup of wine that, "WoW what happened to wine"? She said, "Vince came in and gave us a talking to and he marked with a pen where to fill it up to"! REALLY?? The owner has to upcharge and limit wine at a local Italian restaurant? Geez. And this may not be a big deal, but little things go a long way. My husband is a WONDERFUL tipper. Sometimes doubles the bill, or pays for another table and always gives a minimum 30% tip. If this establishment wants to have quality business, they need to to get their game back on because it has sucked the last 3 times. We're going to Marlaina's Mediterranean a couple blocks over weekly now where their service and food is superb. Service and quality has gone WAY DOWN at Vince's. They lost a valuable customer.
google avatar

Ellen C.

Yelp
We ordered pizza on DoorDash for pickup. The pizza did not disappoint! Was on the smaller side but you can tell the quality is better than a normal pizza franchise like Domino's (and we eat a lot of pizza). We don't normally splurge on gourmet pizza but this one reminded us of our favorite pizza joint in North Carolina. The bread had that wood fired gourmet taste and you can tell the pepperoni was quality. Overall glad we tried this restaurant out!

Yelp
I'd like to report the following about my recent order from Vince's Italian-Burien: * Al Limone: Undercooked or overcooked, Did not like taste (Comment: Pasta and chicken are overcooked and dry yet sitting in a puddle of oil and lemon juice. It was awful.) * Choose Side: Missing Item
google avatar

Rosa D.

Yelp
Omg this place was so awful. I'm thinking legit kitchen nightmares and Gordon needs to save them ! The pasta wasn't done, poured ragu on top, no flavor or salt. Chicken Parmesan just as bad. (I can just hear Gordon right now, why is her all the parsley on top?) Mussels were way salty and way over cooked , pizza was tasteless, potato croquettes? You can actually get really good ones at tutta Bella, and that's saying something. The Italian soda literally made me sad. It was all bubbles and no flavor. And the prices for all of this is not fair to call this Italian cuz now you just made Italians sad too. Oh so sad! Bill is $100 for basically nothing edible. People work really hard for their money this is just not right to charge these kinds of prices if this is what you're going to serve ....

Jackson S.

Yelp
Food was excellent, service was so fast and so friendly. Such a family friendly vibe. Our server Denice took great care of us!
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Vince's is my new favorite Italian restaurant! The house salad, house red wine was delicious. Their Sicilian pizza is my favorite. You know your in an authentic Italian restaurant when you can get Spumoni ice cream. The service was excellent in spite of only having one server for the entire restaurant. Vince's is old Seattle.

Duc Huy B.

Yelp
Unfortunately I hate writing bad reviews but The spaghetti with egg that I had and bacon was so salty that I could barely eat it. The dessert was ok. I came there on 22 July of 2021, after more than a year of hiatus of not coming over to this place Since October or November 2019. Oh well I guess the hiatus will begin again and this time I don't know when or if I'll return.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
The pizza is the best I've ever had! Service very friendly and accommodating! Highly recommend eating here!!!

S E.

Yelp
I ordered the gnocchi in cassoula, meatballs and the garlic bread with cheese. The food was great! Personally i cut up the meatballs and put them in the gnocchi. They came in a sauce as well so i added that too and it made for a very filling balanced bite. Wanted to share some love to balance out the reviews, give this place a fair chance. If you're unsure of what to get then go on doordash and look thru the menu, it'll tell you what percentage of people said they'd recommend the dish they got - which is what i did and I'm very satisfied. the garlic bread was pretty mid though ngl

Chyna S.

Yelp
I loved this place! Nathan was a great server we appreciate him the food was amazing, so amazing I used all of your cheese lol it was good I'll be coming back for more spaghetti

Carol S.

Yelp
Ordered takeout--a sandwich and a small salad. Ordering online was easy. The food was ready when I arrived. The salad had been kept refrigerated so everything was the correct temperature when I got home. The food was excellent. A lot of meat in the sandwich. Fresh bread. Not soggy from too much sauce. Variety of ingredients in the salad and plenty of salad dressing on the side.

Alice B.

Yelp
I'd been going to and ordering from the restaurant weekly for years. Tonight I ordered the putanesca with no anchovies. When it was delivered with anchovies, I decided to reorder and give the restaurant a chance to get it right. However the manager canceled my second order insisting that the first dish delivered didn't have anchovies, despite the fact that I could clearly taste them. Super bad move as they have now lost family's very loyal weekly business.

Spaghetti noodles were overcooked and the barely there sauce just tasted like a canned tomato sauce, bread was good though
