This is a local Italian restaurant that has been here since the 50's. My husband and I used to go eat here weekly, sometimes twice a week since we live so close. We knew all the waiters/waitresses and got to know their families through just conversation. One waitress was widowed and she reminded me so much of my late sister. She was fantastic! We've celebrated many birthdays and such with our kids and grandchildren here too. We always had WONDERFUL service. Dino was a great talker and he was on it! I would order a glass of vitiano wine and he would fill it up. I like good service and people who make the difference. Their pizza is handmade crust.
HOWEVER, the last 3 times we have been here sine they opened back up after Covid, the service has been terrible. They're all young kids working there with a few seasoned ones. Our first time back, we thought, well okay maybe they're just getting back into the swing of things. So we let it slide. Our waitress came around twice and I had to get up to go find her in the back. The second time, we got awful service too. My husband's favorite is the Prawns Premivera. It always was made with fresh vegetables and this time you could tell they were frozen veggies and way overcooked. They were soggy. We both seemed a bit quizzled by it. And it was not flavorful at all. Their pasta is very good though! Cooked just right! So okay, it was my oldest son's birthday who would have been 32 so again our kids and 2 grandchildren went after a little emotional day. We made reservations for 5:00. We get there and we're seated early, same table back by the window and brick wall. The young waitress gave us 3 paper menus when their is 6 of us. She didn't come back to take our drink order so I got up and grabbed 3 more menus. It's hard to all be on the same timing when you have to share menu's. The waitress comes back and forgets my hot water with lemon. No big deal. Well, I didn't get it until my pizza arrived. And the kicker is, there's a bunch of kids standing around talking up front. There was no salt or pepper so I had to ask. Twice.
For a party of 6 she came to our table 3 times in an hour and a half+. And then to bring the tab. That's not cool. I asked if Dino still worked there and she said he works one day a week in the front. Oh.. Oh.. and I mentioned when she brought my 1/4 cup of wine that, "WoW what happened to wine"? She said, "Vince came in and gave us a talking to and he marked with a pen where to fill it up to"! REALLY?? The owner has to upcharge and limit wine at a local Italian restaurant? Geez. And this may not be a big deal, but little things go a long way. My husband is a WONDERFUL tipper. Sometimes doubles the bill, or pays for another table and always gives a minimum 30% tip. If this establishment wants to have quality business, they need to to get their game back on because it has sucked the last 3 times. We're going to Marlaina's Mediterranean a couple blocks over weekly now where their service and food is superb. Service and quality has gone WAY DOWN at Vince's. They lost a valuable customer.
