The Best Crudo, Aguachile, & Ceviche In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"We like a few dishes at Vista Peru in Old City (and the pisco bar certainly doesn’t hurt). But we can’t stop ordering their ceviche. Our favorite of the six here is the signature Vista Peru, which has lobster, octopus, red snapper, sweet potatoes, and corn, all tossed together and marinated in a super light, citrusy sauce. It’s simultaneously peppery and refreshing. Each citrusy bite is piled into a lobster shell, making it the most overdressed ceviche in town." - candis mclean

Vista Peru - Review - Old City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Ceviche and pisco are the main events at Vista Peru, a loungey Peruvian restaurant in Old City. Despite its location in a tourist hub, the crowd is full of locals enjoying well-seasoned lobster and octopus ceviche, crab causa, and smoky chicken in enormous portions. Bring a group for cocktails—it’s the only pisco bar in town—and take a stroll to Penn’s Landing post-ceviche. photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN video credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN photo credit: CANDIS R. The Tastiest Latin Restaurants in Philly | Eater Philly

"Old City comes alive with this Peruvian restaurant that includes a signature Pisco bar with cocktails that include imported Pisco Portón, a colorless brandy that’s made from distilled fermented grape juice. But beyond their incredible libations, they have impressive Latin bites that feature anticuchos (grilled beef hearts), parihuela (lobster and mixed seafood soup), and Escabche de Pescado (fried fish fillet topped with onions, seasoned with vinegar and Peruvian peppers)." - Ernest Owens

Where To Eat And Drink During A Snowstorm

"You know what helps fight the feeling that your entire life is just a white wasteland that goes on forever? Moving somewhere in the middle of the Peruvian rainforest. Sadly, we imagine there are about the same number of cons as pros in this pipe dream, but Vista Peru has the next best thing: pisco sours. Spend the night hiding from the freezing temperatures outside and trying a few pisco cocktails, plus an entire menu of the best Peruvian food in the city." - sydney mcelwee

Vista Peru Review - Old City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Ceviche and potatoes: two of the best foods on this planet, and two things that Vista Peru, a loungey Peruvian restaurant in Old City, does very well. We especially like their ceviche de camarones, which has shrimp, red onion, sweet potatoes, and corn all tossed together and marinated in a super light, citrusy sauce. Another thing they do well? Pisco sours. They have a huge pisco bar up front with a ton of different varieties, as well as about 10 pisco cocktails to try." - Sydney McElwee

Our visit was March 7, 2024 Food and service were excellent. All of our meals arrived quickly and at the appropriate temperature. The flavor and seasonings were perfect. We had a reservation which was very important. There did seem to be open seating at the full service bar. Most items were gluten free. All of the staff were very attentive and friendly. My only suggestion would be to keep the restrooms a bit more tidy. The flan was perfect!

Google
Food was quite nice but fries felt slightly dull in flavor. Overall the food tasted quite nice, for example the risotto with the steak cubes, tomatoes and onions were so good I had to get seconds and take some takeaway as well. Atmosphere was very nice and made me feel like I was in Peru but the space was quite limited so felt a bit isolated. Service was excellent. Great variety of drinks and brought out very quickly. The waiters knew when to and not to approach the table. The waiters were very kind, helpful, friendly and hard-working no matter how many things I asked for and brought out food very quickly and whilst hot (sat instantly with no wait as well). Refilled water very often and made me feel like nothing was missing and that I was at home. The 2 servers were Antony (could be spelled Anthony, not sure) and Stephanie (I’m fairly certain it is Stephanie but I could be wrong, but definitely something similar if not). They also sang happy birthday (with candles on the cheesecake they gave us) for the person in my party whose birthday it was and made them feel very special. Didn’t rush us at all, despite being somewhat near closing. Overall highly recommended and very fun international cuisine.

Google
Where to begin.. the pisco sour is authentic and refreshing. Ceviche was so fresh and the Anticuchos.. next level. If you haven’t been, put it on your bucket list. The flavor, the service and ambiance.. all outstanding. This place is a hidden gem you must experience. Chefs kiss.

Google
A delayed flight led me to this gem! The ceviche mixto was phenomenal—the fish was fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I also enjoyed a Cusqueña and a Pisco de Muña. The service from Andrés was truly top-notch; he was kind enough to share some of the restaurant's history and their fermentation processes. What started as a travel mishap turned into a memorable meal. I will definitely be back!

Google
Vista Peru offers a great atmosphere with delicious authentic Peruvian dishes. The Jalea Mixta and Chaufa De Pescado were winners for the flavors and quality. The Ceviche Clasico was okay but needed an extra zest to the juice. I stopped in for dinner on a Thursday evening and the dinning room wasn't busy. I was surprised the service was on the slower side from the time we were seated until we received our check. The owners/management needs to make minor adjustments to the staff and service to make this place a more lively restaurant. I would definitely return to try other dishes.

Google
Absolutely incredible. I think the steak...I forget the name... might have been one of the best things I've eaten in my entire life. The white sauce as well was just incredible.

Google
Very cute place with a nice bar upstairs. All the food has was excellent and cooked/seasoned just right. The portion sizes were filling and worth the price. Drinks were also good and the waitress did a good job explaining the drinks. The food service was quite slow and it took a long time to get anything including the check. The waitress felt bad for everything being late and gave free desert which was nice. Would return to try some other dishes and to see if I just went during a bad night.

Google
If you're looking for something different from the usual American food, this is a great option. The ceviche is wonderful. A plate of ceviche and a pisco sour are perfect for starters. Then follow that with the picante de mariscos and a glass of white wine. Top it off with a flan. Or try your own combination. It's all delicious.

Yelp
I was eager to find a Peruvian restaurant in Philly and came to Vista Peru with a group on a Sunday evening. It was easy to make a reservation for the time we wanted. The main dining room is pretty narrow without much in the way of decor, and I think more could be done to help the space pop, but as always the food is my main concern in the end. The complimentary crunchy corn snack for the table was a nice surprise! We ordered an app, a ceviche, and four entrees to share between the six of us and found that plenty filling. The Yuca Frita app was tasty with a delicious dip we held on to, but I wish it came with more as six pieces felt small for the price. The Ceviche Mixto was a more solid portion with a great variety of seafood; it was on the tart side but came with a really nice cilantro sauce that the table ate clean. Out of our entrees, the Lomo Saltado was the highlight with well-cooked and tender chunks of steak and yummy fries (simple, I know). The Pescado a Lo Macho and Arroz con Mariscos were very generous portions with a ton of various seafood; even the fried fish dish came with shrimp, mussels, and scallops on top. The Aji de Gallina was maybe the least noteworthy entree, a chicken stew with cassava and rice, but even that was hearty and filling. Service was good throughout with plenty of water refills, and the cost was surprisingly reasonable for what we ordered. I'd definitely recommend this place for seafood lovers, and I'd be interested in coming back to try the roast chicken and to have the lomo saltado and ceviche again!

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS!! Every time I come here, it's been a great experience. Just keep in mind the "medium" spice level for the ceviche is quite spicy, and definitely opt for a side of plantains, because it only comes with 3 for the entire dish.

Yelp
Steak and rice and the chicken were so moist and flavorful. Space was cozy and service attentive

Yelp
Love the food. Jalea and ceviche were really good. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. Sauce was jalea was really good. A bit too much tomato and onions and not enough actual seafood in the jalea dish. Pisco sour nice tart flavor. Ambiance was good prefer downstairs to upstairs.

Yelp
The food was good and the service was mostly good too. The girl who served us was really sweet, but the guy was kinda meh and even forgot our dessert order. The reason I'm leaving a 1 star review isn't because of the food or service, but because of how they handled the tip. They automatically added a 20% gratuity to the bill (we are a party of 3, if it is more than 5 then that's no issue) without saying anything, and it wasn't mentioned on the menu either. I usually tip that much (or more), so that's not the issue -- it's the fact that they just added it without telling us, and then still gave an option to tip again at the end like nothing was added. It feels super shady. I can't help but wonder how many people don't notice and end up tipping twice. That's just not cool. NOT OKAY!!!!!

Yelp
This was the second time I've been to Vista Peru, and I was even more impressed! The Causa Acevichada was INCREDIBLE and we loved the Mazamorra Morada dessert (not pictured) way more than we had anticipated. It was a hot jelly like dish (purple corn pudding technically) sprinkled with cinnamon and made with pineapple, cherries, and lime juice I believe. Not too sweet! Their rice and ceviche dishes are great too, and I'm also a fan of their pisco sour. Service is kind and was patient with us! We did have a little mix up towards the end of our meal, but it was otherwise smooth sailing. Love the decor in here but we were seated under a light that felt a little too bright. It was minor in the grand scheme of things but felt worth noting. I'm sure staff would've accommodated us had we asked to move since it wasn't crowded! Group Friendly: Yes, and it's ideal for sharing! Veg/Pesc: More pescatarian friendly in my opinion. Fish dishes are the stars of the show here! Date Friendly: Yes!

Yelp
I was closed by and Peruvian food is always a yes. This is more of a modern upscale restaurant. The place is somewhat small, the service was good and quick. I wanted to get the ceviche but it had celery, so I ordered lomo saltado, my mom got causa and to share we had cholló con queso. It all was really good, the meat could have been better prepared but it had good flavor. They had ají peruano which was the best. I would recommend giving it a shot.

Yelp
The food was really delicious here, and I'm glad I went here for my first time trying Peruvian food. This restaurant was recommended to me by my Peruvian friend. My favorite dish was definitely the arroz chaufa de lomo a lo pobre. The steak was extremely tender and juicy and the rice was so flavorful. I also love plantains so that was nice to have. The Pulpo a la parrilla was my second favorite dish I tried, the octopus was super tender and really tasty. The Pollo a la Braza was also good. I did not expect the Pargo a la plancha to have a tomato based soup, but it was decent. The snapper also had way more bones, which I didn't mind but be aware if you don't know how to eat around fishbones. Service was good and this is a good dinner spot, chill vibes and nice ambience.

Yelp
Wow what a gem of a find! We had just finished suit shopping and wanted to get an early dinner/late lunch since we were in the city. Decided to try something new so we landed here. The menu appealed to us as we both really love pulpo and there were quite a few options on the menu for that. The restaurant is very cute and like most restaurants in Philly there really isn't a lot of room so their bar is in the front and the dining area is towards the back. Very nice layout and the spacing between the tables was great. Mostly two to four tops and I noticed two larger tables situated one in the back and one in the front of the dining area. The clientele was mainly IMO Spanish speaking. So for me that was a great indication that we so chose correctly! Our server was great for suggesting entrees when we couldn't decide between dishes. We started with calamari which I will say wasn't any different than what you get from all restaurant menus but I will say that theirs was on the top for light batter n crispiness just how I like it. The accompanying aioli was really good though I was looking for that wedge of lemon to add a bit of acidity. Our entrees were the seafood lobster paella and the grilled pulpo. I'll start with the grilled pulpo - for those of you wondering what pulpo is its octopus. The flavor profile of the pulpo was soooo good. I personally would've like to see it really grilled a bit more so have that smokiness flavor to make it really pop. We both agreed that it could be a lil more tender but mind you it wasn't chewy or tough by any means. My fiancé indicated that the potatoes that accompanied it was less than stellar but all the other veggies shared in the same great flavor of the pulpo. I don't like potatoes so I can't weigh in on that but they did look quite bland. Let's get to what I felt was the star dish in today's dining adventure ... the paella. First the aroma is bar none one of my favorite smells the sweet aroma of saffron! It's up there with garlic in olive oil originating from Italian restaurants. The presentation and the abundance of all that seafood satisfied that "eyes bigger than your stomach" concept. Visually appealing and the taste was just as satisfying. While you can only see the pool of shrimp and the lobster round the sides of the bowl buried underneath were the mussels and clams and plenty of that golden rice that has absorbed all the yummy goodness of those saffron threads. Oh how I love thee paella. This has got to be one of my favorites aside from my own homemade version. Every time I have this I'm always regretting the miss in London's Borough market but I digress. Hopefully you get the picture that this is a must try paella if you are a fan. If not it's definitely worth a try and you'll be sure to be hooked. Lastly, we had the flan sadly to my disappointment this was not the warmed version. But it was good. I had my hopes set on it being warm ... this is where our inability to have another language under our belt was a minor problem in communicating my ask about the temperature. C'est la vie. Oh wait that was French.

Yelp
I saw they were on Resy and booked a table after doing some quick research for ceviche. The Food was amazing! I was on the hunt for some really good and fresh ceviche and they didn't disappoint. The lomo saltado was tasty and flavorful. I'd definitely recommend to anyone in the Philly area or passing by and looking for a hearty meal.

Yelp
The food has a fair flavor, and prices vary. The ambiance is pleasing, and the service is commendable.

Yelp
Overall I had a solid meal at Vista Peru, the food itself was pretty good my experience was overall kind of a mixed bag. I'd say this was 3/5, met my expectations but didn't exceed them. The first thing was the service was way below average. The sign at the front says to wait for host to seat you and I stood at the door while 3 different servers went about their day and none came over to help. Maybe 10 mins later a party of 3 came in behind me and also awkwardly waited until we all kind of wandered towards the bar where they finally took notice and sat everyone. The restaurant is split with the bar area and some small seats and a back area with booths and bigger tables. I was sat in the front as I dined alone. This may have been part of the problem - the service was really lacking, I ran out of water twice with long waits for refills. I asked for tostones with my meal and never received them... before I had finished my meal the waitress brought out to go boxes for me. I felt rushed out. Most of the other diners spoke in Spanish and I did feel like I was intruding on the staff by speaking only English. Atmosphere is nice, except the fact I got say at a table that's legs were so uneven my drink spilled. Not great. Other than that it feels classy inside and the music is nice. I had the combinación with ceviche and seafood paella. The ceviche was fantastic, very fresh and sour and delicious. The paella was just okay - the mussels were very rubbery and fishy and all three had gritty sand in them, Im not sure they were washed properly. The portion of the seafood was VERY generous and it was plenty of food. However, the shrimp was also fishy and tough. I'm not sure if it was frozen but however it was stored it was definitely cooked too long and came out rubbery. Not my favorite. The rice itself was cooked fine, seasoning and flavor was good. I ordered flan to go and it was really good. Overall a very mixed experience. I did get out for about $42 for entree and dessert which was fine but not great. Overall a very mixed bag and the ceviche was the shining star. Not sure I'd return, but I'd definitely want to get more ceviche and maybe some grilled octopus next time.

Yelp
A+ service, stupid good food, and a simple but welcoming atmosphere make this place one of the best I've ever been to. And I'm not exaggerating. From the moment we walked in--in fact, from the moment before we walked in, we knew this was the perfect place. These days, we travel with a 9-month-old and a heavy, bulky stroller. We're well aware that our semi-truck of a stroller can't go everywhere, so we trepidatiously waited on the street to assess the situation before going in. But we were interrupted by a member of the staff, who not only welcomed us in but helped bring our Abrams tank stroller into the restaurant. The staff is incredibly accommodating, and every measure should be taken to ensure they are well compensated for their troubles. Now, if you're not familiar with Peruvian cuisine or the Spanish language, you're in luck, because it turns out any dish you order will be a winner. Their calamari is literally the best I've ever had, and I've had a lot of calamari. The lomo saltado is inspired. The goat dish whose name I can't remember is epic (and interestingly not unlike some of the goat stews prepared in Kenya). Coupled with some excellent by-the-glass wine pours, you've got yourself a feast to die for. I am usually against music being played in restaurants, where the quality of the conversation can suffer from a pounding bass beat or mis-timed track change; however, the (what I can only assume is) traditional Peruvian music playing over the PA adds to the experience, especially in contrast to the modernist/minimalist design of the dining room. And that they treated our 9-month-old with dignity and respect gives it the biggest vote of confidence from me. Go now!

Yelp
Quality food. Friendly staff. It was a bit hard to order with a translation barrier but we got through it. I forgot that "splitting a check in half" is actually slang and doesn't translate with Google Translate well. Maybe I should've asked can I pay 50% of the bill. Well done ceviche and quality rice. Worth another visit.

Yelp
The food is good, but what the owner does with the payment is shameless. Besides, they charge you 20% for gratitude!!?? And with taxes, then they charge you and then they tell you if you want to leave a tip... first time they've done this to me in a place... I tried to talk to the person in charge and they told me that he wasn't there and that I had to pay everything.
google avatar

Yelp
stopped in with low expectations. good thing i did. I will say that the Lomo Saltado and the Arroz con Mariscos were good, the pisco sour was good....The Tigre de leche was not too good at all as it was filled with tiny bits of ceviche..we ordered ceviche..we didnt want extra in a cup...no Calimari at all and the Aji that was requested 3 times was like spicy ketchup. Dont get me started on the Papa La Huancaina....The foods not great but its not terrible either...They seem to have settled for Mediocre so that's what we expect and receive.

Yelp
I came to Vista Peru for lunch with two other people. We did not have a reservation but easily found a table at around 2:30 pm on a Saturday. This is a very cozy and casual restaurant in Old City. It felt very family friendly since it was so spacious with plenty of seating. Our waiter came by very quickly to get our orders for drinks and food and also brought some complimentary crunchy, toasted corn to snack on while we waited which was very good! We all ordered pisco sours which were pretty delicious- they had a generous amount of thick foam on top, were well decorated, and had a perfect balance of mild sweetness and sour flavors with alcohol that was not overpowering. For food we ordered: Ceviche clasico: ordered two of these, one with mild spicy level and one with no spice. This was a very good dish! The portion was generous and came with many flavorful chunks of white fish that was perfectly marinated in the "leche de Tigre." Well salted and nicely complemented by the plantain chips on the side as well as the corn and sweet potato slice. Did not try the spicy one but apparently it was not too strong and had a perfect subtle kick to it. Would recommend if you are a ceviche fan! Lomo saltado: my friend ordered this dish and she said she loved it! Comes with a lot of steak that is well cooked and very flavorful. Also includes some rice and fries which makes it a very substantial and filling dish! Just for reference, my friend is Colombian and she has very high standards for steak and really liked her meal. Overall, I had a really nice experience here! Very clean and spacious place with pretty decor, friendly service, and really solid Peruvian food. Will be coming back if I ever find myself in Philly again!

Yelp
We were a party of four at Vista Peru Restaurant last night. I absolutely had to comment on their amazing food and service. Our husbands don't venture too far away from traditional American cuisine but they too complement you on a job well done. I literally woke up this morning thinking about the octopus entree and wanting more! And our really bubbly server was amazing. We LOVE her! We wish them all of the prosperity and good fortune that their hearts can possibly hold. We DEFINITELY put Vista Peru on our short list of favorites in Philadelphia and will visit them again soon. BRAVO!!!!!

Yelp
Such a cute place! Pisco sours are delicious! We got few dishes to share and I got the whole fish entrees. Super fresh!!! I highly recommend

Yelp
While looking at a neighboring restaurant, one of the locals said try this one. They were not wrong! Great atmosphere, service, and eats. Wonderful experience. A few plant based options too!

Yelp
We had reservations at a later time on a Saturday but were feeling hungry and decided to head in earlier and we didn't even have to wait! The service was great too, everyone was so attentive and helpful. The food honestly blew me away. I had the AJÍ DE GALLINA, although it doesn't look appealing the taste was really good. The sauce is similar to a curry which I enjoyed. The TIRADITO CLASICO was such a great price for how much fish they gave and of course delicious as well. The PARRILLADA DE MARISCOS was also amazing for the price and the flavors were great. Everything was seasoned well and not too salty. The atmosphere is very classy and clean. I would recommend to anyone in the area! The only downside was that they automatically charge a 20% service surcharge.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Peruvian food, and it was really good! Our waitress was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations. Ceviche was exceptional, in my option!
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
This was my first time having Peruvian food, so I have no reference point for whether it is authentic or not. However, having said that, I really enjoyed this meal. We got the ceviche mixto, which included small shrimp, squid, and two large shrimp. The dressing on the ceviche was very lime forward and delicious. For our entrées, we got a chicken dish (aja de gallina) and a shrimp dish (camarones a ajillo). I had never had these flavors before but I found both to be really palatable for a newcomer to the cuisine. I would easily order these two again, and try new things too. A different table ordered grilled shrimp, which looked delicious too.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in old city. We came here for the Super Bowl and they truly went above and beyond with service! We did not have reservations, came around 4:45, and they let us stay for the entire game. Our server was so attentive and made sure we always had drinks and food throughout the night. It felt like we were at a family gathering with great food! We had the causas acevichada, which was seasoned mashed potatoes with ceviche, the seafood soup, and flan. I personally am not the biggest fan of seafood soup, but my fiancé loved it. This was my first time trying causas. It was delicious! Finally, the flan was some of the best I've had. It was creamy and flavorful. We went with my vegetarian friend. There were plenty of options for her to enjoy. Our server was vegan herself and able to recommend the best things to eat. I would absolutely return based on the service, food, and overall experience.

Janna K.

Yelp
EXCELLENT!!! The food is authentic Peruvian, very nice service, I'm recommending 100%, we are going bac pretty soon

Yelp
Come here if you're craving for some amazing Peruvian food and drinks. We stopped by here before we had an event so we only got the appetizers and drinks. We got the ceviche clasico which is a marinated fish dish with lime juice and other amazing seasonings. It was so delicious, and we were fighting for every last bite. We also got pisco sour cocktails, and I think this is my new favorite cocktail. It was made to perfection, and the design on top was so cute. The hosts and bartender was amazing!! They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of well.

Yelp
Came here for cocktails great pisco based drinks. Cute ambiance Pisco sour (5/5) Captain pisco (4/5)

Yelp
The food was terrible. The fish had too many bones and didn't taste fresh. That corn appetizer dish was very strange and made no sense.. every time I think back on my experience there, it makes me feel a little sick in my stomach.

Yelp
This is my 2nd visit to Vista Peru and I cannot wait for my next venture here! Again, the waitstaff was attentive and accommodating to my party of 6. The group ordered drinks, I don't drink, and they all enjoyed their selections. Appetizers: anticuchos -- chewy and delicious; papa a la huancaina -- the cream sauce was savory and had a light flavor; leche de Tigre - one of my favorites and a nice acidic kickoff to the meal; ceviche camarones; yuca frita was delicious; and the choclo con queso was spot on. Entrees: paella marinera was just damn tasty, pulpo saltado was plentiful and tender, maduros were lightly sweet and so delicious, tallarines saltando de pollo was adored, and the rib-eye steak con camarones was enjoyed thoroughly. Dessert: (not pictured) included purple corn pudding - interesting flavor and I would get it again, flan, and arroz con leche! If you haven't had Peruvian food, I highly recommend Vista Peru -- it's a smart, distinctive, and piquant culinary experience.

Yelp
We stopped into Vista Peru on a whim while exploring the area and I'm so glad we did! The service was incredible and the ambiance was so fun. I ordered a round of chicha sours for my whole group and it was one of the best I've ever had. We weren't super hungry so we just ordered causa limena and the quinoa salad and both were phenomenal. We could not stop inhaling that quinoa salad. It was a great experience and I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Philadelphia.

Yelp
Staff is very rude. Don't give this place your business. There are a lot of really good places nearby.

Yelp
The ambiance and the food were great. Everything we got was delicious below is a list of what we ordered. My favorite is the Jalea Mixta but honestly everything was yummy. Plus, there was complimentary toasted corn and the price was reasonable! I would totally recommend this place. Jalea Mixta- The mixed fried seafood and cassava were fried perfectly, well seasoned, and was not greasy at all. Lomo Saltado- Who can say no to fries and steak?! The combo of fries, tomato, beef, and onions went well together and the flavors were very nice. Even though I ordered well done steak, it was still very tender!!! Picante De Marisco- The seafood sauce was very good and had the right amount of spice. Arroz Con Marisco- The paella was packed with flavor.

Yelp
Vista Peru is a super interesting find. Like other reviewers, we found ourselves in Vista Peru because we wanted something different. Peruvian cuisine isn't something readily available where we live, so we really viewed this as an opportunity to go outside the box. The interior has a cool vibe. I liked the cultural decor and dark atmosphere. It was initially quite hard to find (as it was blocked by construction), so if that construction is still up, just stay patient while you're looking for it. You can make reservations online, which is of course so appreciated in busy Philadelphia. I wish the staff was a bit more helpful and talkative with suggestions, but I get that people are exhausted right now. The food and drink is outstanding here! We started with a well-made Pisco Sour, which was created by a skilled bartender. We started with a ceviche appetizer (a necessity in a Peruvian restaurant). For dinner, the Parrillada de Mariscos was super interesting. It came with lobster, clams, mussels, grilled shrimp in garlic sauce and fish fillet. This was a HUGE amount of food! It comes in a piping hot bowl, so prepare to get toasty. Several people could easily split this! Overall, a cool place for an interesting meal.

Yelp
Very cute peruvian place in old city. If you visit, i would recommend coming by night time as the streets are lively and lit with warm fairy-like lights. The interior of the restaurant is quite cute, with salsa music adding to the ambience. Food: we got the Combinación Clasico and Arroz chaufa de lomo de lo pobre. The former is a split between ceviche and arroz con marisco. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful, with quite a sour taste to it in case that is not your preference. Overall, yummy. I personally liked the arroz con marisco more because it had a more diverse flavor profile - rice, cheese, BIG corn pieces (so amazing b/c it's starchier, chewier, and less sweet than american corn), seafood such as shrimp, clam, oyster, scallop. Overall, this was such a yummy dish especially since we got it with some spice! The second dish - arroz chaufa was also pretty good. I wasnt a huge fan of the plantains, as they could've been juicier and cooked for longer, and I'm also not a huge red onion person (this dish comes with lots of red onion). However, the steak was cooked to a perfect heat!! The rice and sauce was flavorful and I enjoyed the runny egg. Dessert we ordered the mazamorra morada which i think was one of my favorite parts of the meal. sweet purple corn pudding with i think pineapple chunks in it - delicious! We also got the inca cola which was great. The place is a bit pricey and a bit heavy on the sourness of food, but overall we had a wonderful experience

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!! We had the arroz con mariscos. Flavorful, huge portion, with fresh plump shrimp and delicate mussels. Wonderful afternoon stop while we were visiting the city. Wish we lived closer, we would be regulars!

Yelp
I think Vista Peru is going to become one of my favorite spots in the city for food. Not only is the food amazing, the service, and ambiance were also perfect. The jalea mixta was full with fresh, flavorful seafood. The noise level was perfect for conversation. I went with friends to catch up and have dinner and we didn't feel rushed to leave whatsoever. My friends got the lomo Saltado, TACU TACU CON LOMITO SALTADO, and the chaufa de quinoa. For dessert we went with the waiters too and had the mazamorra morada. 10/10 meals.

Yelp
We stopped in specifically because we were looking for something different. As soon as I saw they had Ceviche I knew exactly what I was going to order. My girlfriend checked the menu and was going to order Ceviche as well but then she saw they had goat on the menu and she decided to give it a try. We were both pleased with our meal. The ceviche had shrimp, calamari, and pieces of fresh fish served in a spicy sauce. It was so good! My girlfriend's meal was served with some white rice and beans. She said the goat was tender and flavorful. We really enjoyed this place and we're glad to stop in.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Located in a converted row house, like many of the olde city establishments, the space is long and a little narrow. As described in other reviews, there are two distinct spaces. The narrower front area with bar and two-top tables, features colorful woven-style art and face masks on the walls, while the wider rear space has minimalist design on the walls and brighter lighting, with table tops on one side and banquet seats faced by chairs on the other. A light wood ceiling runs throughout. The food was pretty good and mostly flavorful, if a touch salty. Appetizers: The calamares Fritos-very good. Crisp, perfectly seasoned calamari, delicious dipping sauce. Wish the portion was larger. The causa was tasty. Mains: Salmon was broiled salmon with 2 sides and garlic sauce served on the side. The cook/texture was excellent and the sauce was delicious. Got a bit salty after a while. Paella marinera-seafood paella with lobster, shrimp and clams. Rice and seafood were all cooked well, but again a bit salty. Lomo saltado over risotto-very flavorful and the meat was cooked as ordered, could have been a little more tender, though. All main portions were generous. Service: Gabi was a good waitress. Unfortunately, as the place began to fill up she had to attend to about 8 or 9 tables herself, so lots of wait time in between service. The busboy assisted when he could. The menu is pretty interesting, and We'd return to try other dishes.

Yelp
TLDR; authentic Peruvian cuisine, fair prices, causal atmosphere upstairs and more upscale downstairs This is my second time at Vista Peru and it does not disappoint! I've been hunting for a good authentic Peruvian restaurant in the Philadelphia area, and Vista Peru hit the mark. We had Peru's national drink, the pisco sour (original and in the cute purple Chicha variety) and it was so refreshing. Food came out hot and quick, and the lomo was perfectly cooked and seasoned. If you're looking for a new Latin restaurant in old city, I'd absolutely recommend.

Yelp
Leche de Tigre, ceviche and combinado exactly as Peru. Really delicious and with good music.

Yelp
Good vibes and food. I would not recommend the plantains or fried ones. Service was a little slow, but it was fine cause I was in good company

Yelp
Such a beautiful Peruvian themed addition to Old city. We specifically came here to try Pisco Sours because you don't find them easily in traditional bars or cocktail places! The bartender definitely knew what he was doing - he made us some delicious and incredible looking Piscos. Not only that, he also explained us what some of the foreign ingredients meant and that those were exclusively imported from Peru! Definitely check out if you are in the neighborhood.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Very authentic Peruvian food and drinks. We got the Anticuchos (beef hearts) and causas con pulpa de cangrejo (with crabmeat) for appetizer. For entree we got the combination Classico which is the Arroz con mariscos and ceviche clasico combo. For drinks we got the pisco sour and chicha sour. The food was all very flavorful and the portion size was pretty large. The drinks were delicious as well. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
First sips of chicha morada were good, but after the ice began melting it got watered down. Order it without ice. Pisci sour was delicious.. Anticuchos were tasty, served with savory slices of potato and an earlette of choclo. Papa a la Huancaina was not to my liking. It tasted like there was no queso in it, a key component. It had an unusual flavor, like it was made from a powder you mix with water vs fresh ingredients. Arroz con Marisco was tasty. It's a seafood risotto with clams, mussels, shrimp and bits of squid, along with some choclo chucked in for freshness. Texture was a bit pasty and shrimp were overcooked. Picante de Mariscos is listed with a "spicy cream sauce". It was a tomato sauce with black pepper, and shrimp, clams, mussels and tiny pieces of squid. There seemed to be no cream or dairy component and the black pepper was predominant. The big clams in shell were tough and chewy and the shrimp were overcooked. Tallarines Verde con Bistek was tasty. A mild green pesto spaghetti topped with an over easy egg and a side of very thin, marinated steak. The steak was not exactly tender, but it was flavorful. Overall I would not go back here. Papa a la Huancaina is one of our favorites and to not get it right is kind of a sin.

Yelp
Great food, great place and let me tell you something, so far once of the best service that I have had in Philadelphia. Extremely thankful with both servers, they were patient and so good. (We have a toddler... a very active one). Food was flavorful! Definitely at the level of Miami's Peruvian food.
