"A fixture in Normal Heights for nearly a decade, Viva Pops will close up shop on Adams Avenue this Saturday, February 16. Known for flavors ranging from blood orange and lavender lemonade to salted caramel and Mexican chocolate, Viva Pops even offers dog-friendly popsicles. The company was founded by Lisa Altman and her husband Jack, who got their start at the Little Italy Mercato farmer’s market selling gourmet organic popsicles made with local produce out of a charming, colorful cart. In the years since, the pops have also been available at Whole Foods Market and other retailers and featured at countless events, including Coachella. Although it’s leaving Normal Heights, Viva Pops will live on. Altman tells Eater that shuttering the storefront was a bittersweet decision for the couple, but it was a necessary one in order to free up their time and energy to grow the brand. She says they will be working on creating a more focused Viva Pops line that reflects their brand’s creative flavor combinations and use of quality ingredients with the goal of making the popsicles available at various retailers around San Diego and beyond in the near future." - Candice Woo

Great concept, and well executed! Looks like a shop transplanted from Haight Ashbury or Greenwich Village, very clean, upscale and "modern" styled. But where other places would end there, it carries all the way to the care in preparation of the product. All of their pops are "paleta" style and various flavors can be ordered vegan "sugar free" with agave, normal (also vegan), or dairy. Pops are handmade with local organic produce and they run $2.50 each, cheaper when purchased in bulk. My wife and I each had a Blood Orange pop -- delicious! The zesty sweetness of biting into a fresh orange coupled with the coolness of the frozen treat, a perfect summer treat. If I was to change anything I'd wished it had more fruit pulp in it, but the flavor was there 100% and my wife remarked even with its deep color, it didn't stain your tongue like an artificially colored one. Eyeing the tempting menu board after my pop was gone, I ended up getting a second round -- I ordered the Lavender Lemonade -- also delicious. Very subtle lavender pairs well with the lemonade. We'll definitely be back to try some more soon!

How can you not love pops? How can you not be amazed this place exists to bring pops to the world, and for that purpose alone? Really good pops with an awesome selection of pop flavors. Go get a pop. You need a pop, want a pop, and it's been too long since you've had a pop. Another of those amazing Adam's Avenue gems residing in Normal Heights.

A place of wonder with popsicle galore. These fresh homemade popsicles come in flavors such as lavender, goat cheese varieties and my favorite strawberry basil. If you like popsicles there is no excuse for not stopping by this adorable little place.

With flavors like strawberry basil and chilli mango, how could you go wrong with this place? Everything I've had has been light and refreshing. Just what a popsicle should be in my opinion.

One of the few desserts I can still eat without guilt is a Viva Pop. I highly recommend this small shop on a warm Summer day. Wonderful staff. Eat in or take out.

Ok place. Had heard that these pops were "get-out full of yummy flavors good" so I decided to check ot out. Personally I think the size of the popsicles are a bit on the small size. Might go back, not sure for now.
