Popped in here randomly after checking out the Eastern Market. This was a top choice online so we went with it, glad we did! This place has a lot of food options to choose from, no matter what you like or are in the mood for. Came here with my BF.
We started out with getting a few of the local Michigan beers. I have to say the Wango Mango was just what we needed after being outside on a near 100° day all morning/afternoon.
We always like trying stuff we've never had before and they had a lot of mussels options and we decided to give that a try. We got the Parmesan ones and a side of the Cajun to try, as we were having a hard time deciding between those 2 options. We were glad that it explained how to best eat mussels on the menu and we referred to that for us first timers. These mussels were so good and buttery, oh my. We anticipated it being similar taste to an oyster and we were surprisingly mistaken (weren't a fan of those). The mussels themselves came out in pot with a lid, in a buttery broth, with melted parmesan cheese on top, with a side plate of garlic bread. There were a good amount too, like 25 if I had to guess. We both ended up loving something we had never had before, which is always a win for us!
My BF got The Detroiter, which was a loaded chicken sandwich, with cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion, etc. This came with fries. He said it was a. Great sandwich, just was so full from the mussels that he had to take half of it home.
I got the crab cake po boy, as I can't get enough of crab cakes. The crab cake came out in a full bun, with a creamy Cole slaw, and it came with kettle chips. This sandwich was great and I would for sure order it again!
Didn't realize till after we were here that this place is known for their Bloody Marys and was voted best Bloody Mary in Detroit by a few sources. After discovering that, we decided to go all out and try the one they were known for, splitting it between us. THAT BLOODY MARY WAS HUGE! Honestly could be a small meal in itself! If you love bloodys, it's so worth it!
We had the most lovely waitress too. I wish I got her name. Young, blonde haired, super nice and friendly. She reminded me so much of a friend from back home, it kept playing tricks on me. She commented on my bracelets and wallet, as we had a similar style. She was great and wanted to shout her out.
We left stuff and were glad we could walk our lunch off around the market area!
