A Valentine’s-Themed Pop-Up Bar Is Coming to Detroit | Eater Detroit

"A Valentine’s-themed pop-up bar in the Hubbard-Richard/Bagley area, produced by In-Laws Hospitality as a short-term activation while the group decides the next steps for the space after Bagley Central closed in 2022. The transformation—done with a wink to Cupid—aims to be a cozy, inclusive spot for solo patrons, couples, friends, or new connections, offering V-Day drink specials amid saccharine red, pink, white, and heart-shaped decor. Programming leans social and playful, with Galentine’s gatherings, singles nights that include speed-dating, and mood-setting playlists curated by the bar manager and WDET host Nick Austin. The pop-up runs through the end of February with hours Sunday–Thursday 4 p.m.–10 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 4 p.m.–midnight." - Serena Maria Daniels

This place was cool. The atmosphere was awesome. There were a lot of cool decorations, and the ambiance was spot on. This is a place you need to visit before the season is over.

Just had the best elote chicken wings, crunch wrap and Grinch punch at this must see Christmas pop up bar in Southwest Detroit. Where else can you get Christmas+tacos+sushi. The owners have been pioneers to the growth of Detroit’s food scene since the the automotive Big 3 crisis. Opening Green Dot Stables; they believed in the growth of our city when people were losing hope. There creative ideas and passion have brought smiles and joy to our bellies. This season support local and support them because they are awesome humans. 🎄🍷🌮🍣🫶 Thursday-Sundays 5pm-12am & Thanksgiving Eve

I’ve been going to this pop up every year for every seasonal pop up. The drinks are always inexpensive, the decor gets better and better each year. Also how can you pass up getting goblin sushi from next door.

As a pop up bar, it certainly gets the job done. Great selection of beer, and the cocktails I had were nice and strong. I think it's cool that they rebrand for every season/holiday. The Valentine's theme is on point. I just wish they used glass drinkware or had a recycling bin, or something. The cocktails are served in plastic/paper cups that all go in the trash.

Came here on Halloween night, and although the decorations were nice, the drinks were not really “spooky” and the dj wasn’t great. The separation of space also doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. It was nice to see, but I don’t think I’d be back.

Yelp
Wow Blitzens on Bagley is the coolest Christmas pop up in Detroit. The bar is decked out in kitschy Christmas decor, as well as the seasonal cocktails available- all of it is absolutely perfect to get you in the mood for the upcoming holiday. The drinks were served up promptly with a smile- and they were deee-licious. We opted for the hot cocoa- one with Rumchata & one with Bailey's. We decided on a gingerbread shot to wash it all down. It was the perfect beginning of the Christmas season spot (and throughout!) Please go check this place out. It's amazing!!

Yelp
I have been here for nightmare on Bagley and now vixens on Bagley. This pop up bar is too cute and the decorations and themed drinks makes it all the better. The drinks are usually cheap around $2-6 and they are right on point with the themes. The decor is great I love how they go all out to match the holiday. I'm excited for more of their pop ups

Yelp
A holiday pop up bar?! Add this to your to do list of holiday festivities! In between being a regular bar, this place hosts various holiday themed pop up bars. The decorations are over the top -- just so festive! I visited the Christmas themed Blitzen on Bagley. When you walk in it's like you've teleported into a winter wonderland with holiday music and mock fireplaces galore. The bar has base spirits along with featured drinks like the Very Merry Marg, Grinch Punch and my favorite spiked egg nog. There's plenty of space for gathering and sipping. You can order food from the connected sushi spot next door and they will bring it over to you.

Yelp
What a unique gem in Detroit. They hose different pop ups. I recently went to the Nightmare on Bagley Halloween pop up. It was sooooo much fun. They have a back room where they had a projector playing halloween films and the menu great. I LOVED the vibe. If you have time to go before Halloween, you should definitely check it out. I can't wait to see what they have here after the holiday.

Yelp
Such a cute holiday pop up that exists as a standard bar during the rest of the year, but come Christmastime, it gets DECKED out and extremely festive, which we love!!! Holiday movies are played, tinsel and holiday lights are strung up everywhere, the drinks are THEMED, and the vibes are MERRY! The bar is a small space and is connected via bathrooms to a sushi restaurant and via another door to a taco restaurant as well! They all operate independently though, so I don't believe you can take your drinks or food from one place to another. Therefore, the seating is def limited in this space and it's first come first serve, so you'll kind of need to hover awkwardly until you can snag enough seats for your group based on who is leaving their seats. I don't drink alcohol, so can't attest to how good their drinks are, but I super appreciated that they had just as many non-alcoholic options as they did alcoholic. Mostly in part because everything was premade, which made the service very quick, but their ability to be flexible with what they were serving limited. There were like 5 different kinds of cocktails on their menu max and the non-alcoholic were just the premade mixes of all those cocktails before they added the booze in. I got the Grinch and really enjoyed it! The portions are SMALL and the prices are kind of high for the size though and I was done with my drink in less than 10 minutes. I would definitely consider and recommend getting more than one drink per person each time you go to the bar so you're not making a ton of trips! Love it though and love the festive cheer! Will definitely be back next holiday season!

Yelp
Pros: -Very cute Christmas vibe -makes me feel like I'm in a late 90s/early 20s Christmas movie -food being available is convenient Cons: -space is way too small, felt like the walls were caving in on me when I was greeted by a wall of human flesh upon entering. -middle aged women were too abundant and screamed at decibels that only demons can produce

Yelp
This place stole my heart the minute they opened! They have now done a Christmas pop up (x2) , a Valentine's Day pop up & a Pokémon pop up! Each time they decorate it gets bigger & better. The creativity in this place is top notch & I always enjoy the environment here! Your eyes will not get bored, there's something to look at everywhere! Service is amazing, the staff is super friendly always & they have a full service bar in addition to all of their speciality cocktail menus! You can even order food from the neighboring restaurant! 10/10 experience every time I've went & I cannot wait to see what they do next

Yelp
So I'm so glad this place is here to fall through. I first read about it in the Detroit Free Press and my friend and I stumbled upon it one night. I've been back because the festive decorations and Christmas movies playing really sell it for me. It's got just the right blend of everything from Spiked Eggnog to Jell-O shots in red and green, of course. This place is a lot of fun and the bar staff are great.

Yelp
This is a fun Holiday stop. It's a pop up open for Christmas. It gives a great holiday vibe and is a fun spot. The only thing is it gets crazy busy. The bartenders are not going to make you a handcrafted cocktail. You order from a menu and they are premade drinks. I got the Grinch and he got the Naughty Santa (hehe. Fitting!). They were both so sweet that it was difficult to finish them. I would suggest coming here at least once this holiday season but wouldn't plan on being here more than an hour. Unless you want massive heartburn! I was afraid my teeth would rot out. Ha. Great job with the decorations though.

Yelp
Fun, Christmas-themed bar near Corktown in Detroit. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the festive decorations make for great holiday spirit! This bar is a Christmas pop-up, so it's only around for a short time. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic options were available. The egg nog was delicious! With their location being near Goblin Sushi, you can also order sushi to be delivered while you're enjoying Blitzen's. They did offer a cookie snack item on their menu; however, these did not seem worth the $4 price point. Overall, fun spot to check out to get into the holiday spirit!

Yelp
Best place to go for drinks, good music and awesome people. They have different themed pop up throughout the year and they are all awesome. A must go.

Yelp
I don't care what the naysayers say about this--it was a great idea having a pop up Christmas bar! Cocktails were simple & cheap. They may be premix or whatever, but you could go elsewhere for an expensive delicious drink mixed for you cocktail. The point of the place was CHRISTMAS--lots of Christmas decorations & music. It was fun & celebratory, and we thank them! Even a few days after Christmas (which was when we finally had time to get here) it was FUN!
