The best late-night dining in Denver | Eater Denver

"While South Broadway, where this Oregon-based chain’s second Denver outpost is located, has its share of nightlife, it’s East Colfax — where the first sits —that’s the king of the wee-hours notoriety. So you bet that, until 3 a.m., this place is mobbed with partiers who’ve got the munchies for the pink-sprinkled ring doughnut called The Homer; the vanilla-frosted, M&M-topped Marshall Mathers; and, of course, the cylindrical, weed-inspired Maple Blazer Blunt." - Eater Staff

Google
I love Voodoo. Yummy food. Excellent staff that care about the neighborhood and caring for those less fortunate. I'll always support and give my business to them. Grab a dozen! You won't be disappointed!

Google
First-time customer. Construction in front of the building made for difficult parking. Staff was great, the selection was amazing (very unusual combinations), and you can taste the quality of ingredients used. Would recommend this shop.

Google
My son sent me Voodoo doughnuts for Mother’s Day and I couldn’t stop eating them! One was better than the next. I had the banana cream, chocolate coconut and apple fritter. They were insanely delicious!! One of these days I’m going to have to go to the store. Highly recommend!!

Google
We just keep coming back! Great selection and portions, you definitely get bank for your buck here. Their donuts are very tasty with many different donuts to choose from. We really appreciate their vegan selection, which are all equally tasty. Definitely stop by for a donut!

Google
Donuts are unique and definitely worth trying. No searing at this location. Only to go option available. The atmosphere around this place is not so great. Did not feel like a safe location. Be careful.

If you find yourself in downtown Denver, a visit to Voodoo Doughnut on Colfax is a must! This place isn't just a doughnut shop; it's an experience, and one that consistently leaves you smiling. From the moment you step inside, you're met with a friendly vibe and an incredible, almost overwhelming, selection of doughnuts. While every doughnut is a work of art, some personal favorites that stand out include the Dirt Doughnut and the classic, comforting Maple Bar, and of course the perfectly crisp and sweet Apple Fritter. But honestly, you can't go wrong with anything you choose. Another fantastic aspect is their hours - being open for 22 hours a day means you can satisfy your doughnut craving almost anytime! Late night treat or an early morning pick-me-up, Voodoo is there. Make sure you add this place to your downtown itinerary.

Google
Nate M was the baddest bro! Saw like 5 groups come in and a few doordashers. No pressure for my man Nate. He was super helpful and let us take our time looking at the huge selection. He even made fresh donuts for us because my kids wanted them and they were out.

Google
Stopped in because I’ve many things. Had a fantastic Maple iced coffee and a couple donuts to-go. The variety and style are wonderful, staff is extremely pleasant to work with. 🍩

Yelp
The donuts are OUTSTANDING!!!! They have all types of unique donuts!! The customer services is always on point!!! Parking is a bit rough but worth it!
google avatar

Aly G.

Yelp
Doughnuts were WOW! Great flavor options and they taste delicious. Great prices. Quick service and fun ambiance!
google avatar

Yelp
Voodoo was very cute and they had a huge variety of donuts, however they look like they taste a lot better than they do. They're average donuts - soft and tasty but nothing that made me say "mmmmmm, this is so good". Ya know what I mean? If you're a donut lover like I am you've had that experience before and Voodoo just didn't hit like that. Is it worth visiting? CERTAINLY! Again, the variety alone is reason enough to check them out. We ordered the chocolate ring, Memphis mafia, oh captain my captain, cannolo and the viscous hibiscus and they were ll pretty good. Coffee was fresh and hot. Lively atmosphere inside and staff were nice and helpful if you're unsure bout what to order.
google avatar

Nicolas J.

Yelp
Many tasty options. Not many locations. Worth a try. The Oreo one was my fave. Also tried the hibiscus
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
What's there not to love about a maple bacon caramel donut? Something new everyday. Fun for everyone and don't forget the sprinkles
google avatar

Natasha G.

Yelp
The vegan selection is on point. I highly recommend the Voodoo Doll. The Dirty Old Bastard is great if you love peanut butter! Great service, delicious donuts, and good location.
google avatar

Rosalie C.

Yelp
Made it to my 4th VooDoo location!!!!!! Portland, Austin, Chicago, Denver! I love that they maintain their weird vibe across each of there locations. Consistency is great. #vegan options - always grab a portland cream ;)
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
I love visiting a voodoo doughnut anywhere. They're always out of this world and aesthetically pleasing inside. The staff is so nice here too. Will continue to seek these out when I travel!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
I heard so much about this Portland donut franchise and was very excited to try it. We got the maple, school daze, cinnamon honey glaze and mango tango. If you're into PB&J sandwiches HIGHLY recommend the School daze donut. I love how there's a large range of vegan donuts at voodoo too, much appreciated for a lactose intolerant person. This location is pretty small and there are no tables for sitting so keep that in mind when you stop by!
google avatar

Kim F.

Yelp
Who knew that donuts could taste so good? And be so creative with their names... Who would've thought that bacon on a maple doughnut would taste delicious... And that purple grape ape tastes like grape and is delicious... I think my favorite is Captain, my captain... With Captain crunch cereal on it... Or maybe I prefer the voodoo doll because who wouldn't want that... Definitely worth the trip We didn't have to stand in line, and the service was awesome, super clean and voodoo-ish
google avatar

MJ L.

Yelp
Why do I always have to order a donut when we pass by a Voodoo Doughnut shop? I think there's something to be said about consistency. You also can't deny the quality, freshness, and creativity. Plus, the shops are always decorated to the nines.
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
Portland creme donut was decent but the donuts all seemed overly sugary... even the glazed donut just tasted too sweet! They are nicely decorated and I get that they are a popular experience, it maybe it's not for me.
google avatar

Kenna G.

Yelp
Wow! These donuts are over the top. This is like the Crumbl of donuts- super sweet & HUGE, 1/4 is enough. Old dirty bastard was totally our favorite. Captain crunch one was great as well. Love the pink boxes, staff was very friendly!!!
google avatar

LoiLoi F.

Yelp
Had these yummies ordered and wow, they are so good! From the pink boxes to their specialty and unique flavors, I knew I had to order Voodoo Donuts once I arrived in Denver. I had their oreos and creme donut, vegan glaze, and sprinkle cake. Personally, we love oreos so this donut was def a hit. Their vegan glazed tasted exaclty like a regular and was still light and fluffy. We aren't much of a cake-donut type of person but we still tried and it was def a cake donut. lol. Def recommend this a must-try if you see Voodoo!
google avatar

Sola F.

Yelp
Sooooooo good. These donuts are huge!!!!! They also have a huge menu to pick from. Such different flavors and different the cashier was informative, nice and fast
google avatar

Adrienne E.

Yelp
A fun place that you should go to at least once if you're living in or visiting Denver! They have a huge selection of donut options, some of which are massive, ranging from more basic flavors to ones covered in cookies or candy. It's a great place to go and try out new donut flavors. My favorites are the more basic ones like the old fashioned glazed, buttermilk bar, maple old fashioned, and blueberry cake. If you have kids or are more adventurous with your donuts than I am, you'll find endless menu options to choose from. The donuts taste fresh, and if you're in a hurry they have the option to order online and pickup from an online order line that moves much faster than the walk-in line. Some of the donuts have naughtier names, so as long as you won't get offended by that it's a fun place to go and grab donuts!
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
I wanted to check out Voodoo Doughnut last time J was in town and finally got to try it! I got the raspberry filled donut and a maple cream. Both were very sizable and fresh. The dough was soft and sweet. The raspberry filling was perfect! Sweet and tangy - truly paid respect to raspberries. The maple cream was also great, the filling was more of a boston crème texture than what I expected but it still worked out well! Loved these two flavors! Would stop back next time I'm in town.
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
Total overrated. Not worth your time. Go find a grandma donut shop. Overpriced as well.
google avatar

Dominique M.

Yelp
Delicious fluffy donuts. A large variety of donut options. Beverages are sold as well. I ordered "the dirt" donut. It's basically a cookies and cream donut. The icing was so rich & the top of the donut was full of Oreos. I devoured it within a few bites.

Yasmine H.

Yelp
OK, so here's a thing about Voodoo--Overhyped, no longer the cool local shop, now just a chain. I challenge you to go by your favorite style of donut, from your favorite donut shop and eat it side-by-side with voodoo's. The freshness of the oil, the fluffiness of the dough, perfectly cooked, the size, these donuts are the real deal.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
The vegan donuts are fantastic--so much so that you might wonder if you were given the wrong donut! I got the chocolate ring (can't go wrong with a classic), and it had a tender crumb and a sweet, chocolatey glaze. Only improvement I could think of would be to make the glaze darker chocolate, but it's a delicious donut either way! Wish they had a location closer to where I live!
google avatar

Cindy R.

Yelp
I love this place. The doughnuts are so fun and unique. They also have an extensive coffee selection. My favorite donuts are the maple bacon bar(maple bar topped with real strips of bacon), and the Ring of Fire chocolate cake doughnut, the spice is almost more like a chi spice than a chili spice and it pairs perfectly with the chocolate. Very warming on a cool evening. I also tried the featured birthday cake doughnut on my most recent visit. It's a large raised doughnut filled with strawberry cream cheese filling. The filling had a nice airy texture but I did find the doughnut quite sweet. My least favorite donuts are any of the cereal and Oreo doughnuts. The cereal goes stale fast and it doesn't add much to the flavor. If you aren't sure what to get or you are buying as a gift, I recommend getting the voodoo dozen. It has a great variety of some of their best offerings. They also have vegan options. One note I would also add is I would like to see prices more clearly marked, on the menu, in the case, on the website. The price for each doughnut can differ quite a bit.

Yelp
100% worth the hype! These were all incredible doughnuts. Each of the flavors were magical, and the dough was delicious! We had them delivered to our hotel, and they traveled very well. My favorites were the Blueberry Cake and the Old Dirty Bastard, but I would definitely get them all again!
google avatar

Shami P.

Yelp
We came here after dinner to pickup so donuts to eat at home. We ordered the homer, banana crème pie, oh captain my captain, and an old dirty bastard. They all tasted so good and the donuts were huge! Definitely want to come back again to try different flavors.

Yelp
One of a kind donuts at 2 Denver locations. I haven't made it to South Broadway, as Colfax calls to me. Colfax is so unique and seemingly on the verge of being something else. Yet, it remains its own identity. So, the Colfax location is my go to - once or twice a year. I recently stopped in on my birthday and scored 3 donuts - one for Jamie, one for my son (it was also his birthday) and one for me. Choosing a donut at VooDoo is an adventure in itself. They are so creative. So, the donut for my son was a specialty donut - the ring of fire - a cinco de mayo special donut. It had a dried red chili poking out of it. The donut itself was a cake donut (delicious on its own) with a cinnamon, sugar light red chili finish. Well done. Not to spicy, sweet and tangy and a bit of spice. Then there was the dried chili. It was not clear he would eat it. He likes hot chilis. With a bit of encouragement he took a bite. WOW! Red eyes immediately! Sweaty forehead. Crying! Tongue on fire. It may have been the hottest chili he ever has had. Heat that lasted 10 + minutes! What a donut! Where else can you get a donut like that! Recommended! Even if you just window shop!
google avatar

Thomas G.

Yelp
Voodoo Doughnut definitely satisfied the late night craving for something sweet. Esthetically, I found the shop to be just one small step above your classic mom & pop donut shop. Nothing overly special, but clean and filled with the smell of donuts. I had the cream-filled maple donut and my favorite, the sweet cream cannoli--I could have eaten a dozen of those. The sweet, custard-like filling was one of my favorite donut fillings ever. The hours also make this place special against a normal local donut shop. Unlike most donut shops, the focus is on the late night crowd rather than the "donuts and coffee" crowd.
google avatar

Jamal L.

Yelp
During a recent trip to Denver, we found ourselves at Voodoo Doughnut 3 times during our 5 day stay. Sadly, I wish we'd made it 5 out of 5! Fresh, creative, delicious doughnuts! Great hours, and friendly service!
google avatar

Shane H.

Yelp
Pretentious, overpriced donuts, but delicious. It's gimmicky, but the donuts are delicious. I'm not gonna lie. The maple bar is top-notch with the bacon and variety is just fun .
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
Yes always to Voodoo!!!!!! Ordered the bakers dozen which gives you a variety of several flavors. You don't get to pick the donuts tho want when you order it this way but it's a cheaper way to get a lot of flavors. One of my favorite donuts here is oddly the Apple fritter. It's huge and so darn delicious. Always 5 stars for voodoo!
google avatar

Brandon Y.

Yelp
Good fresh doughnuts. Staff was cool and helpful. Enjoyed the variety although my eyes were hungrier than my stomach lol
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
Voodoo donuts is certainly a must if you've never tried it. I would say it's not your "everyday" donut, they are mostly very extravagant as far as donuts go, and pretty sizable -- which also comes to the price as well. Staff is always nice and makes good recommendations. Even when there is a line, they do things pretty efficiently and it moves quickly. Not that most donuts are good "leftover" the next day, but I would say voodoo has to be fresh or they aren't worth it. Aka don't over order to have for the next day or two.
google avatar

Yelp
Been wanting to go to the original location for some time now but all these chains have to do for now. Parking is not the greatest, street parking in front or side street or behind is a pay parking I believe. Anyways didn't want to get a whole dozen but did want to try a few. A little on the pricier side. The dew donuts I got were on the little crisp side of things. Lots of sugar and glaze. Overall experience was ok not wowed, was suppose to get a chocolate chili cake donut but somehow was Givin a cinnamon sugar instead, not a big deal. If timing is right and I'm nearby Colfax I'll swing by here again. Other than that the small donut shop by the house in westminster is great and he gives extras!
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful box of goodies that will take your taste bud to the next level. Just look at this donuts. Everything taste fresh and delicious!! For morning in the office I ordered online and have it delivered ! Awesome
google avatar

Yelp
A colorful environment meets you at this classical fusion with unique. On the wall is a big poster board of all the donut choices. The donuts themselves are not really special.  They are just well made, quality donuts with interesting names. I got the Oh Capt, My Captain which is a donut with Captain Crunch & Berries on it. The other was Grape Ape which is a donut with a grape frosting. They were both good, just nothing Earth Shattering. Overall for me it was a 4 star review. I see why they are popular. They are open very late. They are an above average donut. They are fairly priced ($2) and sized. The Unique flavors and names brings you in and maybe back to try the uniqueness. That for me they just are only a Double, not a Home run. Would I return? A solid Maybe. If I was in area and craving a donut then yes, otherwise probably not.
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
No review is needed. The place is BOMB!! I was floored at how affordable the donuts are. $3.50 for some is incredible! I got a whole box of mixed donuts and obit spent $34 bucks. They even have a giant donut cake that is so clever!!
google avatar

Sean_Nancy O.

Yelp
Let's be honest, slowly becoming a chain. So, if you've eat at one, you've eat at them all. Still a good donut. But, here is some of the best service I have ever had at one. Great location and well lit. Definitely a visit again place.
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
I've heard about the hype surrounding Voodoo doughnuts for a while now and it was on my bucket list when I visited Colorado. This location is on Colfax Avenue and you'll have to find street parking. They have long hours and are open from 5am till 3am everyday. They also feature a variety of vegan options. Their doughnuts range from $2-$5 dollars and you can order ahead of time online. It's more so an in and out type of place so the service was typical. I tried the Voodoo Doll ($4.50) and to preface, this doughnut was huge. It satisfied the sweet craving and it was very fresh. They have a ton of other unique flavors to choose from. TLDR: Worth the hype! It's a fun shop with a ton of unique doughnut flavors and their doughnuts are huge.

Max's T.

Yelp
my daughters love this donut place, they ask for it after anything they do, i always fold and buy them food and the workers there are so nice. JONATHAN especially! he always helps me find the right donuts and is always very helpful JONATHAN takes pride in his work and is always making sure that i'm fed well. if JONATHAN wasn't there almost every day i don't know what i would do #GottaLoveJONATHAN
google avatar

Danielle G.

Yelp
I know there's many locations for this and this one was also a good location. Good selection at 7:30 at night on a Friday night, they're open until three in the morning. We have a location in Vegas that I always forget about, this location in Denver reminded me that I need to go buy more often.
google avatar

Elisa F.

Yelp
FINALLY tried Voodoo Donuts and it was here in Denver! Absolutely iconic donut shop. IYKYK. Got a good selection with my favorite being the PBJ! Jam filled with a ton of PB on top with peanuts too! Not the best donuts you'll ever have, but I feel like Voodoo really changed the donut game so you gotta give them respect. Iconic!!
google avatar

Denise W.

Yelp
Plenty of donut options, great for a late night snack and the location was easy to find. The employees were helpful and explained the donuts we had questions about. cute spot for kids.

Sc S.

Yelp
Staff were welcoming as always and the one star, is for the donut only. Went to try the fundraiser donut, Purple Lemon Haze. Whewwww....NOT good. The lemon filing is a whip type with too much in my bar. This lemon haze, needs to disappear and quickly. Probably should of been more of a lemon curd type filling. The purple frosting is horrible! Leaves an awful after taste. Uck! I had to rinse my mouth out. I will stick with the donut I only come there for, the maple bar. I did get a receipt and would ask for my money back, $4 plus. Due to it going to a great cause, I will not.
google avatar

Emily R.

Yelp
Even at midnight you can get fresh donuts. A sweet treat we enjoyed that night...and a few in the morning. They have a donut for every sweet tooth
google avatar

Arthur A.

Yelp
everything is great here if you buy merchandise you get extra donuts and the people there were so nice
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
I'll never forget the faces of the old people in the elevator as we were checking out of our hotel from our staycation carrying a pink box of doughnuts. They we very chatty and we were not and they asked us what was Voodoo's specialty..... um doughnuts.... but no, my answer was "cock n' balls" (one of their actual doughnuts) as we exited the elevator trying not to laugh!! Having recently moved out of the Denver area, we make this a stop every time we are nearby! This time around, I ordered the Memphis Mafia... holy crap that was delicious and lasted 3 days it was so big! It was fried dough with bananas, chocolate, cinnamon, and peanut butter... wow! Parking can be a bit tricky so be patient and you'll eventually run into a space. There are often lines so it helps to look at their site in advance so you know what you want and have back ups in case they are out.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
I love Voodoo all their locations serve consistently great unique donuts. Sure their locations are , shall we say, unique and colorful. Always great service Always unique and fresh unique donuts.
google avatar

Joddey H.

Yelp
Awesome vibe for a quick stop for breakfast. Lots of great options for donuts - no matter what you like you will find something. I would recommend the coffee also.

Melanie D.

Yelp
Always brings a smile to everyone's face when I show up to work with a big pink box! Love that I can pre order and pick up the next morning. So simple

Alisha R.

Yelp
Ordered instead of the traditional bday cake. Was a smash with my family!!! As usual we loved every bite!!
