"You might recognize PDX transplant Voodoo Doughnut from its princess-pink exterior, spinning displays, and namesake gimmick: a yeast-raised voodoo doll with a pretzel stick stabbed in its belly. And we’ll give credit where it’s due—it’s fun to stroll around Capitol Hill with a box full of sweetened adrenaline at any time between their hours of 6am and 3am. But Voodoo pales in comparison to the rest of Seattle’s donut showing. And it’s because the more-is-more approach doesn’t work. Do we need grape powder-dusted variations that taste like Children’s Motrin? Why does an otherwise pleasant devil’s food cake have to be shoved into icing followed by crushed Butterfinger bars? We get the novelty, but the poor fried dough doesn’t have a chance when it’s overpowered by sugar and not much else. (You know, aside from notes of chewable fever reducer.) With a corner-wrapping line that moves glacially, we’d only recommend nabbing a bacon maple bar if nothing else is open. Food Rundown Grape Ape Buy a donut, and get to relive childhood trauma of choking down purple medicine. Bacon Maple Bar Two bacon strips provide salty, smoky relief from maple frosting—it's not a bad bar. Butterfingering Nope. Blueberry Cake One of our favorites here—but if you're a freak for blueberry cake donuts, you'll probably turn your nose up at this subdued version. Hit up Family Donut instead. Memphis Mafia Just looking at this banana cinnamon fritter topped with peanut butter sauce, chocolate drizzle, peanuts, and chocolate chips makes us want to brush our teeth." - Aimee Rizzo

We tried the mango, the chocolate cake and the Voodoo donut. Loved the mango donut the best. It had a nice sweet and tart mango filling inside. The chocolate cake one was okay. The Voodoo one had a nice raspberry filling inside. Went on a Friday afternoon and there was a short line that moved quickly. Quick service inside. The shop is on a main, busy road and there is no parking outside. Prepare to park in one of the side streets and walk if driving here.

12/29/2024 I visited a shop in the Seattle area. The line was long but moved quickly, which was great. Parking is convenient—you can either park in front of the store or use nearby public parking. I tried the donuts, but I feel like The donut texture is too soft for what it should be. They seem to have a compared to my first donuts I eat with a the second one not the same, normally I stop by in the Portland location every time I’ve been there.

Reasonable price with good variety of donuts. Voodoo has big spectrum of flavors. From the very basic ones, such as old fashioned, to highly decorated ones, such as Oh Captain My Captain. The price ranges from $1.50 to $6.50 per donut. Compared to other dessert shops in Seattle, it was reasonable. The store only lets in 5 customers at a time, so long lines are inevitable. However, their opening hours are long, so if you avoid busy hours then it should be fine. Last but not least, there’s no place to sit inside of the store.

Google
These donuts were amazing. I got the maple bar, blueberry cake donut and sprinkle donut. The maple bar was crisp to a perfection. The blueberries taste like blueberries.!! I will be back. The line structure was a bit confusing at first. But aye.. also they have milk in the stores, cause online they only have oat milk.

I've enjoyed the Portland and Denver locations and was happy to hear about this one opening! I waited for crowds to die down and came in the morning on a weekday👏🏿 The aesthetic is very ✨cute✨, it is a smaller space than the other locations. Not much room to stand, but the ordering process makes it easy to please. Some might find the music too loud. However, the 🍩🍩🍩 did not disappoint!! A little softer than I'm used to them being. Seattle's menu is missing some flavors I love, but this is an excuse to travel 🧳 The Vegan Dozens are more expensive here though! I GET IT, yet I find Voodoo worth the patronage 💯 keep in mind that they aren't doing mobile orders yet. Sorry, no parking guys 😞 It's at the edge of cap Hill, so Union or Harvard are your closest free options. I even got a shirt this time 💖

I make sure to stop by the Portland voodoo Doughnuts every time I'm there, so I had to check this place out when they opened up near me We got the Dirt (a raised doughnut with vanilla frosting & oreo pieces), a Captain Crunch raised doughnut also with vanilla frosting, and a Sprinkles cake doughnut, again with vanilla frosting One thing common among all three doughnuts was the vanilla frosting was excellent. It doesn't taste artificial - rather it tastes like real vanilla and has a deep flavor profile to it As far as the inside of the doughnuts, I'd say they were pretty good, but not great. It's missing that softness and airiness that the truly best raised doughnuts have, but it's not bad either - I've had worse While Voodoo Doughnuts doesn't have the best fundamentals in terms of doughnuts - where they make up for it is in their uniqueness of flavor profiles that can be found here The Dirt doughnut was one I've had before - and it's my favorite on the menu. It's absolutely packed with oreo pieces on top of the doughnut - which makes for a wonderful three-layered textural combination between the dough, the frosting, and the cookies The Captain Crunch doughnut was similar, but I liked the pieces less A surprise in this group was the Sprinkles Cake doughnut. While I don't normally like cake doughnuts, I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. The inside was dense, but not *that* dense, and it felt a lot more eggy than the other doughnuts The doughnuts range in price, but I think roughly $4 for the specialty and $1.50 for the plain cake is perfectly reasonable Overall, this location keeps up the pretty good quality of its Portland neighbor. 8/10

Google
The service here was amazing. The staff was super friendly and helped answer any questions that I had. They have a large selection of donuts that are from stuffed to cake and some even covered in a bunch of different toppings. They also have merch and an area where you can watch them make the donuts. I highly recommend checking them out

Google
Came here while on vacation in Seattle. There was a long line and had to wait about 30 minutes to come inside. Once we got inside, staff were very nice and gave recommendations about the more popular doughnuts. Donuts were visually very good but just slightly better than average in taste, though, they had many unique doughnuts. Atmosphere inside was very cool. Would strongly recommend you visit and try!

Naomi G.

Yelp
The vibes are immaculate, the doughnuts are made fresh every day, and the staff are kind and welcoming!

Yelp
Came in on a late night (1/8) wanting a sweet fix and got just that! My cashier (was wearing overalls!) was so sweet and gave me some recommendations as well when we found out there weren't any more apple fritters. This was my first time trying Voodoo and I'd say the variety of flavors and the price for the size is really good! It's also nice that they're one of the few dessert places that are open till late in Seattle. It's perfect for those cravings! I enjoyed the Hibiscus donut as I haven't seen that flavor elsewhere. The chocolate one tasted pretty standard to other classic chocolate rings. The chocolate peanut butter one is good, but definitely on the more sweeter side. Definitely a place to grab friends and split a bunch of the flavors! No seating inside as this is definitely a grab and go kind of place.

Yelp
Had this once upon a time in Portland 4 years ago and now it's in Seattle. I'll say 2 things about Voodoo: - it's better than top pot donut - not worth more than a 5 minute wait. My friend and I got lucky and were able to walk right in and snag a donut pretty easily. I remember I even tried waiting once earlier last week and the line (only 10 or so people) was not even moving. Overall I'd say if you're looking for a sweet treat, heck yeah! Get a donut! But don't go out of the way to wait in line.

Yelp
Arriving at the Voodoo Doughnut location on Pine Street in Seattle at about 6:05 a.m. today (Thursday 2 January 2025) I was excited to get a donut for me and a donut for my parents. I had been to the location in Vancouver, Washington State in October 2023 and had a Memphis Mafia donut I had enjoyed, so I was looking forward to checking this new Seattle location out. Upon entering the store, there were two front counter workers each helping a customer. I checked out one of the rotating donut displays and the Memphis Mafia donut was there. The worker I interacted with turned out to be a bit difficult. I asked for two Memphis Mafia, to which she turned me down. Smacked the smile right off my face kind of thing. She suggested an apple fritter instead. Mango is my favorite fruit, so I said two of the mango donut and the worker grabbed one. I reiterated and she grabbed a second one. Not sure if the hiccup was her thinking two donuts was too much for me. Payment was straightforward, the price was $8 for both donuts. Getting home and pulling the donut out of the bag, it was cold and a little stale. Looked to be leftover from the day before. The mango flavor was not present, masked in large part by the donut topping. It was a good day-old donut, just the mango did not pull through. I would guesstimate the caloric load at about 700 calories. All around it was a letdown relative to my experience at the location in Vancouver, Washington State in October 2023.

Yelp
It was my first time, trying voodoo donuts, and it was pretty good, but it was so sweet that I could only eat so little! Service was very attentive and patient, they have so many flavors to try from and I like that they are open late night. There isn't that much parking other than street parking in the front though

Alexis B.

Yelp
I thought VooDoo doughnut was only in Portland, but I was so surprised when I saw the location on Capitol Hill. We arrived right when it opened at 8:00 because we were coming from the Starbucks Roastery around the corner. There was no line, which, from my experience, is rare, but I am sure later in the day, the line is around the corner. I love the picture menu and the spinning display! The inside of the store is Voodoo pink, and the staff is very friendly. I had the Bacon Maple Bar - one of my favorite doughnuts - and we 2 ordered a Voodoo Doll and The Homer. My Bacon Maple Bar was delicious, but the Voodoo Doll was filled with cream; we were expecting raspberry, but it was still delicious. The Homer is a classic and was a perfect doughnut.

Frank B.

Yelp
OMG I'm in heaven I just devoured my first Seattle VOODOO Doughnut and I love it! Huge fan of this place ever since my first bite in Portland.. I grabbed the maple bar with bacon simply cause it's the best way to start my Seattle experience!

Demi B.

Yelp
My friends and I got the chance to visit Voodoo Doughnuts for their second open day in Capitol Hill. We waited in line for about 30 minutes outside in order to get inside. The inside is quite small but very well decorated. I love how they have the donuts displayed on spinning platforms. I used to visit Voodoo all the time when I lived near Austin, TX. I'm so glad I got another chance to try them in WA! I got the classic dozen and the dirt doughnut. The quality and taste are great. The overall appearance of the doughnuts was so good too. These are definitely worth the wait, I'll be back soon.

Ashok S.

Yelp
As good as advertised. I have a preference for filled vs glazed. Mango donut was amazing. Good service and great for photography

Draper O.

Yelp
The waiting line outside at Voodoo Doughnut was bananas! I stood in it, knowing it was worth the wait. Brand new! Open for business now. I bought two, one for now. One for tomorrow. #BananaCremePie #MemphisMafia (PB&Choc) I devoured the banana donut today. Decadent and almost sinful. Very sweet icing, but the crème filling inside was not. Pretty well balanced. The products are large and the quality of the ingredients is high. I love having so many selections to mull over. Daunting kinda, but also fun. I like that multiple vegan options are prepared daily. I don't get in moods that often any longer. The struggle to steer clear of empty calories is never ending. This type of sugar bomb is what good dreams are made of...totally allowable. At least, on any given cheat day. One will not harm the body too badly.

Yelp
I'm no stranger to a Voodoo Doughnut, I've been to a few of their Portland locations before and when I saw that there was a new location in Seattle within walking distance- we stopped by. Their cake donuts are my fav, and the churro old-fashioned donut was the first donut I went for--chef's kiss. The maple old-fashioned also was so good, but I'm just a hardcore cake donut fan. The team here was so generous--they slipped us a few extra of their iconic pink sprinkle donuts for free since they made a few extra. I wouldn't wait in one of those infamous lines for them, but if you catch this spot during a quiet moment, it's a no-brainer. We also got one of their "Vicious Hibiscus." Imagine a jelly donut flipped on its head--the jelly is on the outside. Voodoo definitely knows how to keep things quirky and memorable. Next time you're in the area and the line isn't too daunting, swing by and treat yourself!

Marcelino R.

Yelp
I had a great experience here. I've seen the line to get get pretty long but I was lucky that I went on a slow hour. I quickly went in and the whole place is just a cool vibe. The pink and neon really adds to the experience and the rotation selection of the doughnuts is a nice touch! I was almost overwhelmed with the amount of options. The doughnuts were taste and a great size. Highly recommend.

Yusuke S.

Yelp
My colleague got it and I tried it. It's great! They seem to have been freshly made. All tasted sweet. One with beacon had bit of saltiness as a kick. Overall, it's good! Price sounds bit high to me. If you like donuts with a bunch of arts, it's good to try!

Myrnie T.

Yelp
This shop just opened at the time of this review (12/26/24) so there are probably some kinks to work out. We waited in line outside for about twenty minutes, even at 9:00 pm. They have an impressive fan base!! Since we were in town, we decided to do a taste test of the three donut shops we could find that sold dairy-free donuts. I absolutely love that Voodoo offers about a dozen vegan donuts, when no one else is making the effort. We bought the same three donuts (maple bar, Boston cream, and apple fritter) at each shop. Each of Voodoo's donuts just had technical issues. Maple bar: we loved how much maple flavor was in the icing. I felt it was too sweet, and neither of us liked that it was a hardening-type icing because it kept falling off in large shards. He thought the donut was over-cooked, but I liked the flavor and thought it was fine. Boston cream- the icing was nice, again he felt it was a little tough and over-cooked but apparently I like that flavor. The filling was only on one side of the donut, literally just in one half of it. Unfortunately that half wasn't the one I got to eat LOL. Apple fritter- I feel like these might have a learning curve to get right. We threw the majority of this one away because it was stretchy and raw inside, and we found maybe two pieces of apple. Of the three shops, Voodoo is middle-of-the-pack. Except for the fritter, they were fine. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them again, but if someone handed me one I would definitely thank them and eat my treat.

Yelp
Really delicious, creative and a fun place to visit. Don't go by the line, it's partially (house created) as they only let 3 customers in at one time? Short from manufactured hype we did really enjoy the doughnuts that are made constantly in "nearly 24" hours.

Diana C.

Yelp
Friendly service and fun bright colors and decor at this brand new location! The donuts were all fresh and were well packaged. I got the voodoo dozen which is actually a bakers dozen (13). They were out of one so they subbed a similar one of our choice. They also put the bacon one in a separate bag at my request to separate it which was nice. We will be back once we eat all these lol.

Kelly P.

Yelp
i ordered 6 donuts! 2 glazed, mango tango, hibiscus, old dirty bastard and homer. all the donuts were super light and fluffy. we had to wait a little bit for the mango tango as they were making it fresh but the server was super nice and helped us package it more so it wouldn't stick to the other donuts! i'm a huge fan of mango so this was probably my favorite donut. the old dirty bastard and homer were a bit too sweet for my liking but it's all in the frosting and toppings! we came here on a thursday night and we had to wait outside until one party came out. it was a little confusing on where to line up on the inside when you're waiting to order but we went up to a server once they opened up! also would like to note that it was raining when i got these so the box started to fall apart on my commute home.

Anne D.

Yelp
I ordered a Voodoo Doll. I looked at it, laughed at it, then ate it. This isn't the first time. I've had one in Portland too. I walked up to the Pepto-colored storefront. Stood in line like everyone else. The cleverly named donuts were displayed in rotating cases. It's fun eccentric edible art. Consider this an experience, a treat if you will. I still prefer Top Pot but since I was in the area I wanted to check out this new shop on Capitol Hill. I don't mind another Portlandia business popping up in Seattle. They're good people with creative vibes. Employees were friendly too. You can walk uphill from Westlake Station. You can also walk downhill from Broadway or take the bus (10, 11, 12, or 49).

Jerry C.

Yelp
Voodoo doughnut now open in Seattle. It's doughnuts like the other locations. Interesting toppings. Line can be long but moves pretty fast.

Timothy H.

Yelp
I was excited about trying this donut shop, but unfortunately, I was disappointed after having it. I had their Homer (strawberry with sprinkles), Maple bar, Strawberry Tart, and Mango tango. Honestly, all donuts tasted average. I didn't see it any different in taste compared to grocery store donuts. The bread/dough of the donuts were average and the frosting and fillings were okay. The service was somewhat good. They made a mistake on our order and gave us a $10 gift card, which was nice. But when we ate their strawberry tart donut, we found out that they didn't add the strawberry jam filling like it was advertised. The line is currently long, but once you're inside, it's a pretty quick process to grab your donuts. The pricing is decent The ambiance of the restaurant is cool. Nicely decorated. Unfortunately there's no seating so you'll have to take everything to go. I don't think I'd be coming back here in the future.

Crystal G.

Yelp
This review hurts my heart. My wife is from Portland and for years and I years I would swoon at the opportunity to grab a Voodoo Doll on our trips down there. Time went on and the trips became more infrequent and in 2021 I was surprised to see a Voodoo at Universal Studios in California. Dipped in for the usual and it was okay...but something was off. Had to just be California right? Wrong. A recent trip to Portland reversed they too were off. Interesting. What happened to the donuts I loved? So Seattle gets a location. It HAS to be right this time, right? Wrong. 100% something changed when they started branching out. They're no longer as good. The donut itself is just...meh. No longer worth a 3 hour car trip to Portland for just donuts (which I have done on multiple occasions). While Im happy to see more people be exposed to Voodoo I long for the days of the two locations in Portland, nothing more, and sitting in a really long line to get that delicious, perfect, bite.

Fumie W.

Yelp
i really liked the strawberry go-tart because of the jelly inside and taste like a strawberry poptart! dozen donuts is good deal. each donut is big, i recommend sharing with others

Elena M.

Yelp
This particular location has notoriously rude stuff who will just argue with you and won't admit their disorganized line management. They will just tell everyone to get out without considering little kids, people who were in line already or apologize for the screwup. I was happy about voodoo coming to Seattle for about 1 hour drive and will take my business somewhere else.

Dena M.

Yelp
Raw donuts. I just went to the Capitol Hill location last night and overall it was decent, the staff was nice and the long line moved quickly but I was disappointed with one of the donuts. I purchased the Raspberry Romeo and was seriously let down when I cut into it. Only 1/3 of the donut (if that) had raspberry filling and the middle part was raw af. I couldn't even eat half of it. Save your time and just go to Krispy Kreme they taste better anyways lol.

Chris S.

Yelp
Fun and yummy. Waited for about 30 mins on a Saturday morning. Everyone who likes donuts should try it at least once.

Adriane K.

Yelp
First time I got a vegan dozen, they gave me a raspberry Romeo instead of the vegan school daze- I didn't know it wasn't vegan until I tried to come back and order again. Second time, I'm 99% sure the vegan maple cream donuts were accidentally filled with banana Bavarian cream. It tasted super strong of banana, but I thought I was imagining things until right now when I saw they have a banana cream pie donut. Honestly, just disappointed. These donuts are way too expensive to not be able to trust that they're actually vegan.

Nathan K.

Yelp
Bacon Maple Bar and Dirty Bastard were soft and delicious. Bacon added flavor and texture to the maple frosting, so too did the crushed oreos for the other one. Service was nice, fast, and efficient. Grateful for tap pay. Awesome job Voodoo!

uma p.

Yelp
Doughnut was great! Slightly long line, but might be because it just opened. Inside is very cute as well

Lary R.

Yelp
I haven't been their but once I move back to Seattle I will make a trip to voodoo doughnuts

Jojo L.

Yelp
Known for their boldly expressive and unique donuts, @voodoodoughnut is finally open in Capitol Hill, WA! Seen in their iconic pink branding, the donut shop is home to a plethora of donut options, offering traditional and unconventional flavors @voodoodoughnut has been featured in a variety of media and publications, such as @travelchannel and @people They currently have 21 stores, with Seattle now being their 22nd! After 2 hours, I was able to snag some merch and 14 iconic donuts. They were delicious! *Bacon Maple Bar *Ginger Bread Doll *Blueberry Cake *Turtle cheesecake *Diablos Rex *Cock n Balls *Go Tart *Voodoo Doll *Maple Blazer Blunt *Maple Cream The staff were patient, friendly and efficient They even handed out free hot cocoa to us waiting in line! The interior was small, but beautifully decorated with stained glass windows and chandeliers

Jen R.

Yelp
We were super excited to get our very own Voodoo Donut shop here at home now, but were waiting for the crowds to die down a bit before visiting. My son and I decided to go just after 9am and it was perfect. We ordered ahead on the app and were lucky to easily find a parking spot right out front. We walked up but a nice lady came to the door and said they would only be able to let in one customer per cashier and we would have to wait until one was free. I let her know we ordered ahead and she happily let us in. The woman at the cash register asked for my name and when I told her she smiled and said that's the one I'm working on right now! :) She went down the list, collected all our donuts and we were joyfully on our way. Easy peasy. It seems like a good idea to have folks wait outside so a line forms and those driving by see people waiting. Haha - good marketing! Inside the shop is all pink and you can see all the different donuts offered in a bright rotating glass tower. There are people making donuts on the side that can be viewed from the large window. Their donuts are fun and unique -- they are delicious. They add to the already wonderful options we have for donuts in this town.

Casey G.

Yelp
I might start making my own Donuts the line here is crazy. I was just curious where you guys get your stale cereal at ? Do you buy fresh cereal and make it stale yourselves or does it just come that way ? I think I might like to try mine with nice fresh crunchy crispy cereal but everyone seems to be obsessed with the donut with stale cereal .

Pao L.

Yelp
Ordered donuts at 8am and yet they tasted stale. This is my 3rd time trying them, first 2 times were bad too but I thought I'd give them another shot since there was so much hype. I always switched it up - ordering different yeast and cake donuts - just to see what I would like. But now I'm done. Nope! Never again. I'm done. Back to Top Pot.

Jordan J.

Yelp
Slowest restaurant in Seattle. 5 people in front of me and I waited 45 minutes for 4 donuts. 4 staff were just standing around while one person actually filled orders.

Em S.

Yelp
So amazing! I love their vegan options & I can tell others love their non-vegan options too. Very unique shapes, colors, & flavors for donuts.

Lauren D.

Yelp
Horrible experience! Not worth the hype. Three adult men cut me in line, and took forever ordering! Then they proceeded to sexually harass me inside the store, and none of the counter people did anything about it. I had an easy four donut order: Viscous Hibiscus, Cock N' Balls, Memphis Mafia, and Blueberry Cake. The cashier said they were out of Cock N' Balls, so I opted for the Portland Cream instead (virtually the same donut). He rang me up for a Viscous Hibiscus, a Portland Cream, a Memphis Mafia, and a Blueberry Cake, left for a moment, so I inserted my card and paid, then he came back and said they had the Cock N' Balls. He got mad that I paid already, and said that the Cock N' Balls I ordered would be on the house, but then he still charged me?! I was so confused! Are your workers too stoned to function? Anyways, the donuts are extremely overrated! My blueberry cake donut was unpleasantly undercooked - gross! Cream was flavorless. And the frosting easily crumbled and fell right off my hibiscus donut, so it ended up just being a plain donut! There are much better Seattle-based donut shops around!

Erika R.

Yelp
tried the turtle cheesecake, mango tango, grape ape, and vegan dirt. all were delicious. also has a cute atmosphere & kind staff:)

Samantha B.

Yelp
I ordered the dozen and the holiday half dozen for my work this morning. They were beautiful and delicious. Everyone loved them. Great variety.

Dwudzz_bruh D.

Yelp
Although this location is located in the gay neighborhood of Capital Point, Seattle, seeing a donut in the shape of a penis and named "cock and balls" was ridiculous, especially when you see children as young as 3 years old inside of the establishment. I understand the pride these people have of their sexual preference but at the end of the day the majority of people that walk into these establishments expect some sort of professionalism and don't need a specific donut to remind them of where they are. I was looking forward to purchasing a few donuts but after seeing that I told my family to walk out. At this point I cannot see my self even in the future supporting this particular business no matter the location due to this offensive product that is offered to the consumer. Sorry if I offend anyone reading this review but it's my honest opinion of this location and company. Beware. 1 star rating minimum.

Cassidy M.

Yelp
been to the portland voodoo once and the austin voodoo twice and this was the worst. got a variety of donuts and none of them tasted like anything but sugar. the maple bacon was the worst maple bar i've ever had. the turtle cheesecake was hardly turtle and zero cheesecake flavor. the temper on the chocolate for the voodoo doll was off and it was flavorless.
