Yelp
Review is solely for the food - the ambiance and service were excellent. Side note, keep in mind reservations are needed ahead of time if you're planning to be nearby during holidays (you will not be able to simply "walk-in"). Dishes we had, as a whole, were severely underwhelming... giving it an overall 7/10 for everything we had. The dishes as a whole were disappointing. Saving grace, truly, were the fresh ingredients and the fact the plates were shareable; even the entrees. Priced well, and without alcohol, you could be around $100 for two people.
We had the burrata, lamb ravioli, and vanilla/chocolate swirl gelato.
Caprese appetizer 7/10
- underwhelming burrata to the point Costco has better burrata - could've just left it off and this dish would've been just as good
- pesto, aged balsamic, tomatoes and basil were delicious
- bread was great
Lamb Ravioli 6/10
- lamb bolognese was ok; it's hard to screw up a bolognese
- ravioli was a perfect al dente, but it was stuffed with far too much ricotta. Seriously, we scooped a good amount of bolognese on top of each ravioli, and we still had a lot of ricotta stuffing left on our plates. Left an uncomfortable aftertaste at the end of our meal to say the least. Each ravioli needed 20-30% less ricotta stuffing.
Gelato (choices were vanilla, chocolate, or a swirl) 7/10
- gelato delicious and comparable to gelato you'd have in Italy
- zeppoles fluffy and great
- as a whole, far too sweet and needed something else to break it up - otherwise, great if you have a major sweet tooth
I get this review is based off 3 dishes, but those 3 dishes should've been great for what they were. Not some parts were good and that's it.
Final thoughts:
Over-hyped? Not at all because you can tell they do care about customer experience and service.
Could it be better? As they continue to dial it in, absolutely. For now, the win is where they are located and customer service.
"Elevated" Italian? Sadly, no. As it is, it's not any more "elevated" than other established Italian restaurants you'd find in major cities.
