"Located just a stone’s throw from the Village gondola, Vulcania is the brainchild of siblings Michael and Bryan Voltaggio of Food Network fame. Serving up comfort food inspired by authentic Italian cooking, the menu is filled with timeless classics and a playful nod to a childhood favorite, Voltaggi-o’s, which is served with tomato gravy and a giant meatball. The cocktail list is a combination of old standbys like Italian highballs, spritzes (try the Palmer spritz), and martinis. Cozy up inside or request a heated igloo dome on the outdoor patio, which feels like your own private dining cocoon. Be sure to make reservations, as this place fills up fast, especially on weekends." - Danielle Bauter

"Vulcania is an Italian-American restaurant in the ski town of Mammoth Lakes, California. Opened by the Voltaggio brothers in early 2023, it has quickly become one of their best-performing establishments. The restaurant features a version of their Voltaggio O’s dish, tweaked with a chicken meatball for those who prefer chicken over pork or beef." - Tierney Plumb

"Vulcania is an Italian-American restaurant from brothers and James Beard finalists Bryan and Michael Voltaggio. There was a lot of excitement when the Food Network stars, who also happen to be snow enthusiasts, opened this spot in February 2023. The great selection of pastas and pizzas has continued to make it a village favorite." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Everything about Vulcania is amazing! The food is fresh, unique and delicious! The service is fantastic and the ambiance is just the right vibe. They even have private igloos outdoors for large parties, just bring your speaker for music if eating in there. 😊 Their menu is rotating so always exciting to try new items! Highly recommend!

Vulcania Ristorante in Mammoth Lakes, California, where I enjoyed pizza margherita, cacio di pepe ravioli (white sauce of butter, pecorino, fontina and black pepper), "peasar" salad (romaine lettuce, caesar dressing, sugar snap peas, parmesan, garlic), caprese (burrata, concentrated tomatoes, pesto, aged balsamic), brussel sprouts (roasted and raw, colatura vinaigrette, fresh, spicy red pepper). While the kitchen staff were terrific, the front-of-house seemed off. For example, I tried to waive them over to replenish our water and the young lady simply waived back. I did eventually get more water. Vulcanian strives to be authentic Italian and it shows in the smallest of details. I will definitely return.

This is our first time at Mammoth and we decided to walk into this restaurant for some dinner after driving up all day. We were greeted by a hostess who explained usually people make reservations and that she could put us down but it would be about an hour. An hour goes by and I walk up to ask if they had an estimate as to how much longer it would be. A different hostess was at the front, she looked a bit confused, but eventually told me they just had to set the table and we’d be good. Eventually, after walking up again, she took us back to a table that was already sat and then took us to our final table that we were seated at. I’m not sure what their system is for seating guests but maybe this was just a one off thing. Once we did order and receive our food, our server was great at explaining that they had different kitchens and things would come out as they were made (totally fine by us because we were starving at this point). She also said the portions were meant to be shared, but my husband and I can EAT, so we ordered for ourselves. We got the caprese, and Cesar salad to start. Both tasted heavenly, I wish I took a picture of the caprese before we ate it. I ended up getting the chicken Parmesan. I don’t know what cheese was used but it was delicious. Food was definitely worth the wait, it just would have been good to know to make a reservation.

Enjoyed dinner at Vulcania. Overall decent dinner but not memorable. Italian wedge was pretty plain and bit too much dressing. The calamari was well seasoned and tasted good but certain pieces were soggy inside. The pasta was good but not memorable. We did see many people getting the pizza so maybe that is better?

The food was great, molto bella, they took us in on a windy day yesterday with our dog and we just came into town and were very hungry, everywhere else turned us away not realizing we have a service animal with paperwork, but they let us in even before i mentioned shes a service animal, they understood common sense of trying to eat food outside on a windy dusty day. So thank you very much, we come here a couple times a year to eat around town and this was the first with our military service animal. We will be coming here more from now on as opposed to other business who turned us away (even though they were on Bring Fido as "dog friendly"). Also, to the other reviews that say the food took too long, I would rather it take longer and be of higher quality than quick shyte food, people just dont know how to wait, in europe you wait twice as long for your food to give the guests time to interact and enjoy time together, compared to in the U.S., lets hope these people never have to experience that lol Grazie Mille Vulcania for taking us and Threya our dog in.

Google
This spot was fantastic - don’t be deterred by the Google rating. Menu was awesome. We had the tricolore salad, cacio e pepe, and rigatoni arrabiata 🤌🏼. Brian was wonderful. Would absolutely go back. If you’re from the Northeast and looking for Italian food, go here.

Google
The place looks like it would be a great dinning experience. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Although the food looks great, the taste was totally off. I mean, I’ve never been to a restaurant where every dish was bad. We order 5 plates. The tricolore salad. It was too tart and salty. Hard to eat. The ravioli bolognese had too much salt, also borderline uneatable. The tiramisu was burnt and tasted like char. I can go on… but why bother. If you’re reading this, don’t bother going there.

Google
Just amazing food and service. Enjoyed the multi-course dinner that was offered. Had Caesar salad, Rigatoni Arrabiata, Margarita, and a Fungi (mushroom) pizza. From start to end, service was great and the food was top-notch.

Yelp

Yelp
Made a reservation for a Friday night and they were packed. A bit chaotic and I initially got rubbed the wrong way when the host helped the group behind me even though I was next in line standing right in front of her... Once we got seated the waitress was amazing! The food was very good. We got the Vul-tagios (similar to spaghetti-os), caesar salad, and margarita pizza! The meat in the pasta was moist and seasoned excellently. The salad was already dressed perfectly. The pizza was the lightly crispy with a thinner consistency (which I enjoy). I just thought the cheese was a bit chewy where if I took a bite, it dragged the whole cheese off my pizza slice. The tiramisu was very very good! Not your average tiramisu. The cake is a date cake with some nuts and a crunchy layer in between the cake and cream. Amazing though !

Yelp
Came in got seated and the waitress showed up immediately with menus and asked what we want to drink. We wanted a wine so wanted a look at the list first. After 10min we asked a girl that had walked by at least 6 times if we could get the waitress, her answer was: 'I don't know I'm just the server'. 16min later our waitress came back. We decided to order the food also in fear of having to wait another 16min. The 21$ wine was served in a candle holder see below, went to the bar and got us some real wine glasses. The food showed up and the pizza was tasty but definitely not worth 28$ kinda small. The desert was hideous, my friend is italian and this had nothing to do with a Canoli. We also noticed there are a lot of waiters just walking rounds. In fact we studied the girl that said, I don't know from above and in 25min worth of work she cleaned one table, the rest of the time she was walking around. There were others like that too, really poorly managed. And whilst we r at it, the waiters and waitresses look poorly put together, bored and not like they enjoy their job whatsoever. Will definitely never come back, what a waste of money and time.

Yelp
This is hands down one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The staff was wonderful, and even though they were absolutely slammed last night, we still received exceptional service. We started our meal with a perfectly strong Old Fashioned and a fresh, flavorful Caprese salad. For our entrées, we shared the Chicken Parmesan and the Shrimp and Crab Risotto--both were absolutely delicious. We ended the night with a rich and decadent Chocolate Tiramisu, the perfect sweet finish. Everything was plated beautifully, and I wish I had taken more pictures to capture it all. One thing to note: plan ahead! They don't accept same-day reservations, and by the time we arrived around 6 PM, the restaurant was packed. Definitely worth the visit!

Yelp
During a girls trip to Mammoth, my friends and I had a reservation for dinner at Vulcania. Reservations were made for the outdoor igloos. I was excited to eat here since I'm a fan of the Voltaggio brothers and have never dined in an igloo. We were seated right away and our hostess was kind enough to take our picture once seated. The igloo experience was cool and we were pleased to see there were blankets and a heating system in the igloo creating a cozy ambiance. The menu had a decent selection and something for all the dietary needs of our group. I ordered the caprese which was made with burrata, tomatoes, pesto and aged balsamic. It was served with 4 slices of toasted bread. The addition of pesto in the caprese was a nice touch. I also ordered the funghi pizza made with taleggio, mushrooms of the day, fontina, and mushroom hay. I really enjoy mushroom pizza and was pleased with the flavor. However, we did have to remind the waiter about our order. It appeared to have been forgotten and arrived 15 mins after everyone else's meal. The cheese and mushrooms were all located at the center of the pizza leaving too much dough without enough toppings. I would have liked more toppings on each bite. Overall service could have been a little quicker but the food was delicious.

Yelp
Opened by the Voltaggio brothers, the restaurant is nicely decorated and the food is overall good. I enjoyed the cheese pizza and the Voltaggio pasta which had a nice elevated twist to childhood canned pasta. The tricolore salad had a nice tangy bitter flavor and crunchy texture to it and it was refreshing. We tried the branzino which I felt was overpriced for what you get. It comes with a filet of branzino with a bunch of cauliflower sides cooked in different ways for $40. While the branzino was cooked well, the sides didn't complement the fish. I was expecting to get the whole branzino for this price. Service was attentive. We had no issues. The desserts were on the sweet side especially the tiramisu. The salad, pizza and pasta were all worth a try!

Yelp
On our latest trip to Mammoth, was excited to check out this restaurant opened by the Voltaggio brothers. The Top Chef alums have always been interesting and fun to follow - and definitely wanted to see what they were bringing to Mammoth. Conveniently located in The Village - as you walk up, they have the outdoor igloos, which can seat anywhere between 6-8 I believe. We were sat at a table inside - but may opt next time to choose the igloo experience outside. Restaurant was buzzing, we were seated for a party of 7 towards the back of the restaurant. I liked the choice of stemware they offered - more of a modern casual vibe they were going for (no stem on my wine glass). Great choice of wine. Went for a few of the options the server recommended. Had to go with the Voltaggio lamb ravioli bolognese, a couple of the margarita pizzas, and the pastas. The standout was the spaghetti and meatball and the margarita pizzas. I found most of the dishes to be slightly over-cheesed (which cheese lovers may welcome) and a tad over seasoned. But all in all - a great addition to Mammoth. Good vibes, service was decent and a great wine selection.

Yelp
If you're near the Canyon lodge village nice cool place to dine at. They have Igloo seating if you're into that stuff, but require advance reservations. If you love cheese pizza it's pretty good with tons of melted cheese. Voltagio-O is a take on kids pasta with a creamy sauce and meatball slapped on it. Tricolore is more of a crisp and bitter salad due to endives, radicchio and arugula and grape fruit. If butter is not your thing you might consider passing. Branzino is not like your classic while fish but more of a strip filet. That was ok. Desserts gelato swirl ice cream good but the donut was ok. Sticky tiramisu pudding has the flavor profiles but still lacked that liqueur taste

Rain M.

Yelp
Place is well decorated We got seated right away for a party of three during a weekday lunch. Service is on the slower side Food is okay. The marinara is pretty good. Wish the spaghetti came with a meatball. Have to order a la carte.

Frida I.

Yelp
This rating is based off of "Moutain food and service" Dakota our serve was so sweet and attentive. She recommended what we ordered. My partner and I did not have a reservation. We walked in hoping to get a bar seat but they had availability for us so we were seated instantly. I would order the ravioli and the adult spaghetti "o"s. They use the same sauce. It's tangy and savory. Pasta was well cooked. The meatball was a little dry but the flavor was definitely there. We'll definitely stop by again. The price was super affordable. Two pasta entrées, a whiskey sour, and a hot tea was like $80. I think the food was filling.

Yelp
Nice delicious Pizza freshly made by hand and baked in their Gigantic tile beautiful oven ! Trout dip and meatballs Sandwich with parmigiana Fries ! Friendly service and Italian decors wine bar ! The outside dome house for small family is sooo cute and homy! Worth to come again !

Yelp
I have no idea how this is 3.5 stars. maybe its crowded and you cant get in or order take out. for a ski town this place is awesome with great service. the chicken parm is to die for ... the pizzas are great. and I had a good chianti that was I think $12. for value, food, and service I challenge you to find any where that beats Vulcania experience in any ski town

Neil S.

Yelp
Excellent service, as usual the 1 stars and 2 stars are circumstantial and not an accurate judge of the entire place. Beautiful place, huge space. Excellent service, our server Dakota was super nice, gave us her opinions, walked us through the menu and got us in an out of there quickly but by no means rushed out. Food came swiftly but was well done. Nothing extraordinary but just well done. Loved the banana peppers on the calamari.

Brianna C.

Yelp
Walking in the vibe is 5/5 it is beautiful inside and there are so many special touches. We loved the onyx with the backlight on the bar it was stunning. We are HUGE voltaggio fans and we're so excited to try this place out. Buratta was incredible the pesto and the tomatoes were truly some of the best I have ever had and I was in Italy last year. The ravioli was a bit disappointing because there was too much cheese but it was still good. The gelato swirl was so incredible and I loved the puffy of the donuts that came with it. Overall the prices were great food was good and I would go back but try a different entree. Our server was wonderful and the food came out fast and it was hot. We were impressed. You do have to book ahead and they are booked 1.5 months out we got lucky with a cancellation.

Allison M.

Yelp
Our waiter was spectacular: kind, gave recommendations, checked in frequently The beef carpaccio & risotto were out of this world- unique and some of the best we've had. Spaghetti o's were a yummy twist on the classic. Cocktails were good.

Javier C.

Yelp
Review is solely for the food - the ambiance and service were excellent. Side note, keep in mind reservations are needed ahead of time if you're planning to be nearby during holidays (you will not be able to simply "walk-in"). Dishes we had, as a whole, were severely underwhelming... giving it an overall 7/10 for everything we had. The dishes as a whole were disappointing. Saving grace, truly, were the fresh ingredients and the fact the plates were shareable; even the entrees. Priced well, and without alcohol, you could be around $100 for two people. We had the burrata, lamb ravioli, and vanilla/chocolate swirl gelato. Caprese appetizer 7/10 - underwhelming burrata to the point Costco has better burrata - could've just left it off and this dish would've been just as good - pesto, aged balsamic, tomatoes and basil were delicious - bread was great Lamb Ravioli 6/10 - lamb bolognese was ok; it's hard to screw up a bolognese - ravioli was a perfect al dente, but it was stuffed with far too much ricotta. Seriously, we scooped a good amount of bolognese on top of each ravioli, and we still had a lot of ricotta stuffing left on our plates. Left an uncomfortable aftertaste at the end of our meal to say the least. Each ravioli needed 20-30% less ricotta stuffing. Gelato (choices were vanilla, chocolate, or a swirl) 7/10 - gelato delicious and comparable to gelato you'd have in Italy - zeppoles fluffy and great - as a whole, far too sweet and needed something else to break it up - otherwise, great if you have a major sweet tooth I get this review is based off 3 dishes, but those 3 dishes should've been great for what they were. Not some parts were good and that's it. Final thoughts: Over-hyped? Not at all because you can tell they do care about customer experience and service. Could it be better? As they continue to dial it in, absolutely. For now, the win is where they are located and customer service. "Elevated" Italian? Sadly, no. As it is, it's not any more "elevated" than other established Italian restaurants you'd find in major cities.

Alina K.

Yelp
Came here for lunch the other day and had the best arugula salad and the best pizza we ever tried. First time pizza without tomato slice actually tasted good (we had pumpkin pizza)! Absolutely loved it!

Ann L.

Yelp
Don't let beautiful interior fool you. Came in on slow Monday. The MGK looking host wanted to seat my party of 2 at the far corner where barely any light got in. So I asked for a table by the window. We asked for a 4 seater, but the waiter said it was for 4 people, even though there was only 1 other couple there! The place looked nice, but we ended up leaving because I was thinking there was going to pasta and such (for an Italian restaurant), but menu only offered pizza & few sandwiches. We could've gone to the pizza parlor in village. Went next door to get a pasta dish at the wine place. Never going back.

Danielle M.

Yelp
We essentially come to Mammoth on our way back from Lake Tahoe yesterday (5/30)just to eat here, and it exceeded expectations! All the staff were friendly and helpful and excited for us to try the new summer menu items. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly and made our anniversary dinner special. The food: The rye gnoccheti was fresh, earthy, and vibrant! Smoked Mozzarella Sticks were nostalgic and awesome. The vat of marinara under it was a great compliment to the smokey large cheesy heavenly bite! Eggplant Lasagna with the amazing foam and smoky sauce- it felt light but hearty. Chicken Parmigiana- crispy, refreshing take on an old classic. Smothered in the light cheesy parmesan foam and the fresh arugula brought it home. Tiramisu- literally the best tiramisu either my husband and I have had. Decor: really gorgeous. The marble or quartz bar that was illuminated is just stunning and a great center piece for the clean but elevated interior. The outdoor igloo domes were really cool and I can see it being a neat dining experience in the winter! I'm actually surprised by the reviews but because we came on the off season we didn't experience the high volume service. We had great service and a great experience and will come back.

Pat R.

Yelp
The rating is relative to the fact that we are in a ski village and not nyc. The service was super attentive, helpful menu recommendations, decent portions, and a nicely curated menu that isnt overwhelming. The food was flavorful--the pizza, chicken parm, and the arrabbiata which was very similar to a vodka sauce. The tricolor salad was a bit too tangy for me. Definitely a go to place, and make sure to make reservations.

Kayla L.

Yelp
We were in town to shred some butter in the slopes, and we came to dinner for a friend's birthday. We were all absolutely blown away by the food and service! The pizzas was genuinely really good, coming from a NY pizza snob, I'm very hard to please and the sausage pizza knocked us out!! The butternut raviolis were amazing, and the chicken parm was delicious. We had so much more delicious food but let's just say the espresso martinis were a-flowing. Our server, Dakota, was beyond attentive, funny and kind. She made the whole meal amazing. The manager, David, also stopped by the table to check in and chat, which was the cherry on top of a great meal. What charming staff!! I am a manager of a high volume LA restaurant and I have to say, this place wowed me. Thank you for having us, we can't wait to come back!!

Sanam A.

Yelp
So we were skeptical because of reviews but a lot of them talked about service/wait issues. I mean we had to wait but it was worth it! When it comes to the food they really deserve more. The ceaser salad was delicious and so was the rigatoni. Pizza was perfectly hot and delicious crust. Our service was fantastic too! The ambiance is nice and modern, open and airy. Best meal we had in Mammoth!

Wendy N.

Yelp
We didn't make reservations so they couldn't seat us therefore, we did the next best thing and ordered our food as take out! We were so glad we did! Even with cold temperatures and wind, the food was hot when we got back to our condo. I highly recommend the Cacio e Pepe as it was phenomenal! Next time we're in town, I plan to make a reservation and actually enjoy our meal inside!

Ryan M.

Yelp
The restaurant is located right in the village, which is very convenient to the village Lodge. The cocktails were delicious. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Restaurant is completely empty. Unable to get us in. Unacceptable. Host clearly doesn't not care for service

Hannah R.

Yelp
Amazing food and beautiful atmosphere. Definitely recommend stopping by if it's your first time in town. Slighty overpriced but I think that was kinda their goal. Great restaurant!

Themanwhoate E.

Yelp
Ambiance is nice. That's where my positives end. Service and food are typical of mammoth, un trained and uninspired. The volatggios seem to be using their time on food network and Bravo tv to dupe unsuspecting diners into eating here. My server didn't know what a Manhattan was and said she hadn't tried almost anything on the menu. I ate at a restaurant called bleu last year. I was shocked to see the chef or sous chef at the expo on his phone while one of the cooks, cooked everything. It was hilarious to see the same guy at vulcania a year later. laughing with the service staff on expo and not doing a thing. My only guess is the voltaggios must've trained him because they don't cook anything there either I suppose

Frances C.

Yelp
We returned to Vulcania to celebrate my husband's birthday and our final night in Mammoth. Dakota (our server) recommended a drink (Oil Slick) that was exactly what I was looking for. Erica, the hostess, handled a disgruntled and disrespectful person who in a professional and discreet manner before anything escalated. Tonight's dinner was our best dinner- calamari, branzino, rigatoni and desserts were delicious. Vulcania offers the best food and service in Mammoth Village. Erica, Dakota and Vulcania staff should be recognized for all that they do and they are assets to the Vulcania and Mammoth Resorts team! We look forward to returning to Vulcania!

Christina B.

Yelp
We have been going to this location for years back when it was campo. Last year vulcania was great, we ate in a pod, service was on top of things, we sat right down. this year unfortunately the service was not good. Our reserved table was not ready , had to wait 20 minutes, unapologetically. We asked if we could squeeze in 1 more child and the hostess said- "if you have a butt and a brain, you count as 1 person". We were shocked at this behavior as if we were at a dive bar, not spending upwards of $400 for dinner. The food was much smaller portions than last year and to be honest, most guests seemed upset. We will not be going back. Sadly it's been almost 10 years going to this same spot, new names, service must improve.

Kris S.

Yelp
The food is so good here, amazing addition to mammoth, great if you are celebrating a special occasion. Love my pasta with browned butter, Rigatoni Arrabiata.

Cyrus A.

Yelp
Vulcania is the crowning addition to Mammoth's burgeoning dining scene. Grateful to have a restaurant of this caliber and ambition in the Village and fills the void from the sorely missed Campo. We enjoyed two exceptional meals over the holiday weekend highlighted by the Voltaggio O's, a modern and elevated spin on a childhood favorite. The caesar salad, crab risotto, chicken parm and margherita pizza are sure-fire crowd pleasers. A well balanced Negroni and standout bottle of Edna Valley Tempranillo accented our meal nicely. Service and ambience are perfectly on point. Vulcania rivals the finest Italian spots in any ski town and is a must stop for a Mammoth getaway.

Shawna M.

Yelp
You know. The reviews are mixed here... so I was a bit hesitant... but our experience was perfect!!! We had a spritz to start with the Caesar salad! Yum!!! We then both got a glass of the Babera which was perfect and order the Voltaggios and the Brown Butter Rigatoni! Holy wow... they were both so good. So you spaghetti O's from childhood in a can. They serve the voltaggios just like that. And it has a hint of that childhood flavor but it a sup'd up adult version hands down! So freaking delish!!!! My wife and I finished everything. She's Italian. So she's picky. And this left us both very satisfied. My only complaint is the bar top is awfully bright. Which is was a little dimmer. Because it's hard to read the menu and hard to relax lol. . The bartenders were nice as well! And attentive.

Diana C.

Yelp
Next time you're in Mammoth Mountain for be it winter sports or their film festival, come to Vulcania at the Village, because: Italian food family style but make it molecular gastronomy. Leave it to the Voltaggio brothers to create and deliver the flavors of some classic dishes with a modern, playful twist for your tastebuds. The interior is very open and there is an island of a fully stocked bar for those Apres ski needs! We had: Caprese (burrata, concentrated tomatoes, pesto, aged balsamic), Voltaggi-O's (annelini pasta, tomato gravy, & a giant meatball), Chicken Parmesan (marinara, aerated Parmesan, arugula, fennel), and Tiramisu (chocolate ganache, coffee-amaro syrup, liquid lady finger, aerated crème fraiche) Our server was extremely knowledgeable of all the dishes and attentive to our table: we mentioned that we had a limited time here and she made sure we had a complete dining experience without feeling rushed.

Marina S.

Yelp
This restaurant is excellent. Every time we come to Mammoth for skiing we're making an effort to come here one evening. However, when I tried to make a reservation for our upcoming trip (for parties of 10 they' want you to call in) I tried calling more than a month ago to make a reservation. I left 3 voicemails and nobody returned my call. Yesterday I managed to talk to someone on the phone and told me of course that they were busy. I was disappointed because first of all, I like the place and second of all, nobody bothered to return my call. So on busy weekends, we don't really care about the individual customer type of thing because we're busy anyways. I hope you treat your customers more respectfully next time.

Wesley L.

Yelp
I visited Vulcania a few weeks ago when I was up in Mammoth for a friend's birthday. She picked the restaurant, and as I normally do, I went in totally blind with no expectations. To be honest, we were all a little skeptical based on the Yelp score, but the restaurant looked nice and we wanted to try something new. I am so happy that we did. Let me preface that myself and 2 of my friends are all from Los Angeles and work in restaurants. I've been in the industry for over 10 years now, and this was hands down one of the most pleasant and unexpected GREAT dinners I've had in a long time. The food is delicious. Every dish that came out became a new debate as to where it ranked amongst the rest. The Sausage and Peppers pizza had my friend from New York raving about the quality of the crust. She works at a place that sells great pizza in LA. "This was different," she said. The pasta and ravioli were delicate and the sauces bold and flavorful. My favorite came from such an unexpected place that it's been stuck in my head ever since. We had the Wedge Salad which was good, but the part that I can't get over were these little roasted tomatoes that sat on top. They might have been the best tomatoes I've ever eaten. So good, in fact, that I had to tell my chef back home about them, and both him and I have worked in Michelin Star kitchens with some of the best produce in the world. Amazing. Lastly, we had the pleasure of being served by Dakota who was so pleasant, attentive, and helpful, and then we spoke numerous times with the General Manager, David. He shared the backstory of the restaurant and we all vibed all night. Dakota and David helped round out the experience and honestly made it special. My friend offered Dakota a job in LA and we each told David to visit our restaurants when he comes to town. How anyone could give this anything less than 4 stars is beyond me. Do yourself a favor, if you made it this far down my post, go one step further and book a reservation. You're welcome. I'll be going back tomorrow with more friends on a quick overnight trip. I can't miss my favorite new place. Happy holidays!

This place is super dank!! The Salumi pizza is one of the best I've ever had! Great cocktails and great service! Really nice location and atmosphere! Not sure why it's not high 4's for rating! I go here everyday when I'm in town!

Yelp
We headed to Mammoth Lakes for a few days through Halloween to enjoy the change of the seasons and to get away. After a day of hiking, we headed to Vulcania for cocktails and a light dinner. It was just across the street from our hotel so it was an easy walk. We didn't have reservations and sat at the bar. We started craft cocktails to settle in and relax. I enjoyed the Paloma and my husband had the Whiskey Sour - so delicious we had a few! The atmosphere was great, the bartenders super friendly and made excellent drinks. After cocktails, we asked them about their food favorites while we perused the menu. They said the menu items were meant for sharing which was perfect for us. We shared the wedge salad which was already divided so we didn't make a mess cutting the iceberg lettuce in to wedges. The salad was delicious! At one of the bartenders suggestion, we chose the Pumpkin Pie pizza and it was fabulous! The flavors were really like a pumpkin pie but delicious on the pizza. As we ate far more than we intended, we skipped dessert but did see others that ordered and everything looked yummy. Dessert next time!

Yelp
It was my first time in Mammoth and as a foodie I was worried I wouldn't have that great of a food experience and Vulcania was above my expectations. We had the Caesar salad, pepperoni pizza and chicken parm, all were excellent and worthy of a five star restaurant. Our reservation was set for a later time but the hostess was nice and sat us a little earlier as we were only a party of 2. Our server was friendly and recommended a great bottle of wine. The only disappointment was that we did want to have dinner in the outside igloos but those are reserved for larger parties, and it was a little bit of a bummer because I was excited to try those out. Food and service were excellent and this will be a restaurant I will always have to eat at when visiting mammoth.

Yelp
Booked through open table and it was great! Service was attentive and quick. Food comes out as it is ready. Would recommend Lamb Rav bolognese and caesar salad. Solid wine list and want to try cocktails next time.

Yelp
Made a trip to Mammoth for skiing, the first night I decided to stop by at the Vulcania restaurant. First impressions were that the service is terrible and the food was mediocre. Mammoth needs better restaurants

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a rather large group. Despite the restaurant being full, the service we received was excellent. Everything we ordered from appetizers, dinner plates and drinks was amazing! Our server (wish I could remember her name) was awesome! She was attentive, friendly & did a great job at recommending a variety of dishes. We all agreed that when in Mammoth, we'll be back.

Yelp
Don't waste your time. Rude service, food ok at best. They won't sit you without a reservation.

Yelp
Overall, we had a good dinner experience at Vulcania. We came on a Wednesday at 4:45pm with our 2 and 4 year old and they said they were booked for the night and weren't seating anywhere but at high tops.. which was odd considering it was early on a weekday and there were maybe 4 tables sat and tons of space for us to sit at a regular table.. The host/hostess came off a bit pretentious. Nevertheless, we decided to make a 5pm reservation for the next night, Thursday. As with everything in downtown Mammoth, it was pretty pricey for what you get. We ordered the caprese appetizer (yummy but would be better with fresh tomatoes instead of concentrated tomatoes), rigatoni (excellent), the special pasta with meatball (same sauce as the rigatoni just a different pasta), and since they didn't have a kids menu an order of spaghetti with just butter and Parmesan (which still cost $22). Server was attentive and checked in several times which was appreciated. Not a great place for younger kids to dine unless you want to spend $22 for plain spaghetti or get them a cheese pizza. Would recommend for a date night spot or to get a cocktail at the bar.

Yelp
Came here for a special occasion with a friend for dinner. The hostess did not greet us and barely said a word to us before leading us to our table. Honestly uncomfortable. The waitress was brief and took our whole order at once which kind of forced us to make quick decisions. She didn't offer suggestions. Food was very tasty. Ordered the Caesar which was a overdressed/salty-wouldn't recommend. The sausage and peppers were fantastic, but small portioned for two to share. The scampi only had 3 shrimps for $31 (overpriced). The eggplant lasagna was the best dish we had by far! Great! The food runners didn't clear our app dirty plates which was not ideal. Overall, the food was good, but pricey for the small portion- I guess that's the mountain. The service was pretty poor. Likely won't come back based on our experience.

Yelp
If you visit Mammoth, Vulcania is a spot worth trying. The food is good, though a bit on the pricey side for what you get, and the service can be a hit or miss. That being said, it's still one of the better dining options in the area and the ambience is nice inside. I'd recommend trying the Rigatoni, which is one of their most popular dishes. During the winter, getting a table without a reservation is nearly impossible (they will quite literally laugh in your face if you show up without one), but if you come in the summer, it's much easier to dine here. Overall, a decent option in Mammoth, but plan ahead!

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place given the chef pedigree and the hype. Pizza was very cheesy and greasy. The pasta was salty. The seafood risotto was pretty good. Wine selection is pretty good though their tumblers kind of ruin any shot at appreciating wine. Service is so-so. Our waitress seemed pissed off but another waiter was cheery and helpful.

Yelp
The food here was extremely disappointing. I was so excited to try this place since the interior was so cute and the servers were quite friendly and attentive, but the food did not live up to the rest of the establishment. The broccolini was deep fried into oblivion and the pairing seemed quite outdated. The pumpkin pie pizza was by far the worst dish we got, as it was excessively covered in cheese that masked any pumpkin flavor. Not to mention that our pizza was extremely charred and we had to pick off all the burnt pieces to eat.

Yelp
We had an excellent meal on a busy holiday week in mammoth. In a ski town it's hard to get good food with a revolving staff and disjointed customer service but Vulcania seems to have hit the mark this season. We enjoyed the ravioli with lamb bolognese , the calamari, the chicken parmesan and the risotto . We brought in a bottle of Sancerre to enjoy with the meal . We had a great experience in particular with David the GM who elevated our experience with his down to earth kindness and effort to make the meal a great one. It was so appreciated. Other than recommending that Vulcania includes a Sancerre on their menu, I have no complaints !

Yelp
Everything about Vulcania is amazing! The food is fresh, unique and delicious! The service is fantastic and the ambiance is just the right vibe. They even have private igloos outdoors for large parties, just bring your speaker for music if eating in there. Their menu is rotating so always exciting to try new items! Highly recommend!
