Downtown’s reliable counter for generous rice-and-noodle plates, fast stir-fries, and a standout wor wonton soup. OC Weekly spotlighted it for fresher-than-you-think steam-table fare—made in frequent, small batches throughout the day.

Great place for a quick meal. It's a cozy place to dine in. Always clean and well kept. Stephanie is so nice and gives great service. The food is tasty and the prices are right. It's a little hidden gem. Parking is a problem. They close at 8:00pm so they start running out of food around 7:00pm. All in all I recommend WA Wa.

Google
Well the lady that served us, barely gave us any noodles. She sponged them up with the tongs and just puts a little bit of noodles. This didn't sit right with me for the price I'm paying. I hope this doesn't happen again or I will not be coming back. Other clients mentioned this too.

Google
My favorite place to get chicken fried rice! They always make it fresh and it’s not too greasy! Also the prices are good!

Praghalathan Kanthakumar

Google
Good Chinese food. Portions are good size, but I found the meat quantity was less in most of the dishes. The portion of rice they gave for chicken also wasn't enough.

Google
Very good Chinese restaurant, better than Panda Express 😋. The prices are reasonable, the portions are large, the food is fresh, but some of the dishes are too sweet.

Zoe Merrill

Google
I ordered the Wor WonTon Soup and I’m so happy I did. I’ve been under the weather and this clear broth with veggies and meat is perfect. The broth flavor is delicate but complex enough to be filling on its own. The wontons are not over cooked nor are any veggies, meat or shrimp 👌. Exactly what I was looking for AND at a great price. I also got a BBQ Pork skewer and veggie eggrolls which are also on point. The pork had the flavor of Pork and Seeds - it’d be killer with mustard. I took the dish to go - the soup was clearly made fresh as I waited. It was (is) still perfectly hot now that I’ve reached home and am enjoying it. I even called them to say thanks cuz I was soooo happy. Try it you just might love it 😊. The actual atmosphere is nothing special but it is clean and well lit. I’ll be back for their other entrees !

Google
Great Chinese food. They are setup like panda so you can run in and get something quick or order in bulk for family meals. Highly recommend this great value for dinner.

Google
Went there to try it out. WOW, was I surprised. Excellent food, had a really good taste to the food, it looks like your ordinary Chinese takeout/dine in restaurant, but no way. I'll come back evrrytime that I'm staying in Long Beach. Hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten at.

Yelp
I'm on a mission to find good fast casual Chinese food in Long Beach. Growing up in the San Gabriel Valley, an area with a rich and diverse Asian culture, has spoiled me. I saw how highly regarded this spot is on Yelp and when I went in and saw the Yelp sticker on the glass, I thought I had finally found a spot that was better than Panda Express. Well... I was disappointed. I ordered a three entreé combo: teriyaki chicken, kung pao chicken, and broccoli beef with fried rice and chow mein. Teriyaki tasted old, the kung pao was in a weird sauce, and everything else was fine. The lady who helped me was friendly and definitely has a heavy hand with her portions. Unfortunately, not sure I'd go out of my way to give them a second chance.

James M.

Yelp
Sad that Yelp does not care about their customers. Their web site no longer allows me to set my first name, last name and email address. Without these, I cannot have anything delivered to the guard desk....This now make three meals since they introduced this "feature" that I have not been able to order or receive because Yelp has really poor (actually pathetic) change management. This has nothing to do with WaWa. Their food is good...i can just no longer order it.

Yelp
Wa Wa Restaurant is worth the hype! I came across this restaurant on Yelp. I was craving Chinese food & was so glad to find this spot nearby the hotel I was staying at. I ordered ahead & definitely underestimated the amount of food I'd get! I ordered the spicy kung pao chicken, a side of fried rice, & a side of chow mein. I now have enough food for like 2-3 days! The food was good & the service was great! The lady up at the front of the restaurant was super nice & welcoming! She was so happy & grateful to have a new customer! I will definitely make sure to stop by the next time I'm in Long Beach.

Yelp
Simple no frills Chinese that's convenient to DTLB. Serving portion was good for the price and they were fast. This is def our go to spot now.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is always a MISS! The food is usually from the day before, so DO NOT go early. The portions are based on what you look like. They do not use seasoning. The rice and noodles are BLAND And DRY. Do better please
google avatar

Yelp
Good price, reasonable variety, only veggies for blocks, perfect to scarf out of to go containers, in a hotel room, while watching food network reruns. Overshare alert! Counter service so no expectations there. Clean dining area although I get it to go. All good. When I'm in Long Beach I stop here at least once.

Yelp
The restaurant looked clean! We walked in and noticed the chow mein looked almost empty. Instead of just pouring the new chow mein on top, the worker took out the whole serving tray and replaced it with the new one filled with fresh food. Not many places would do the extra work of entirely replacing the tray instead of mixing fresh food with the older noodles.e Everything tasted fresh! They jalapeño chicken was bomb and spicy. Super good little Chinese food spot.

Yelp
I was craaaving Chinese food but I lost my favorite go to spot since they closed down and I have been in search. This place seems pretty great. The food is good and had wontons and Thai tea. If you want to try something different I like getting half regular and half green Thai tea mixed together. Slightly floral and creamy. The lady who helped pick my food was very nice and I hope to come back to try their honey shrimp. I didn't see it and I do hear it runs out quick. There's a couple tables to eat in and they offer teriyaki + sriracha sauce.

Spencef L.

Yelp
This place has great prices and really tasty food. Also very friendly staff. I would highly recommend. Great weekday meal. Very tasty and can get a healthy plate. Would recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent fast Chinese food. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Service is great! The people who work there are sweet and generous with their portions. The place is also clean which is a huge plus.

Yelp
Nice little spot for some quick chinese food, very affordable and she definitely loaded it up. The orange chicken was quite good however the broccoli beef was slightly tough and chewy. The kung pao chicken was sadly bland but nothing like soy sauce couldn't fix it. Fried rice was a little flavorless but we did enjoy the chow mein. Wanted to give the honey walnut shrimp a try but it was sold out already! Also got an order of cream cheese rangoons and they were crispy and hot. Total came out to $26 for everything.

Esther M.

Yelp
Best Chinese spot in the east side. Highly recommend if you're looking for a new spot

Yelp
Service was fast and kind! Just moved to neighborhood and glad we found a good Chinese food place nearby. Smoothies were so good they didn't even make the short walk home. Food was good, and good portions. Coming back again!

Yelp
In downtown Long Beach hanging out with some friends from high school. Anyway, after several cold beverages my wife and I checked into our hotel and walked to Wa Wa. It's cafeteria style but everything looked freshly prepared and was delicious. I had orange chicken and spicy chicken with noodles and rice. My wife had teriyaki chicken and beef & broccoli with vegetables. Big portions and very tasty. If you're in the Downtown LB area craving Chinese food, give Wa Wa a try. You won't be sorry. PS: no beer or wine and it's more of a take-out place.
google avatar

Stacey S.

Yelp
In a city where the options are Chen's or Panda Express, Wa Wa is a safe-haven. A little tip if you're not a local or just wandered in, call ahead and order/ask for something. They prepare things fresh for you, and don't keep much out under heat lamps. Their pancit bihon is decent. Their chow mein is delicious. Their bbq chicken is my SO's go-to now (he moved from orange chicken to it). The cost of things and the portions are insane vs what you'd pay at Panda. I'm a major fan, and will continue to return.

Yelp
Cheap, fast Chinese restaurant following the Mall/Panda Express model where the food are on steam server warmers for speed. One can order one ($8.75) , two ($9.75), or three item ($11.75) meal with noodles or fried rice. When I went, there was a choice of vegi fried rice and two different types of noodles: typical low mein and mei fun (rice noodles). For the meats, there were many dishes, but no seafood. We tried all three types of base: fried rice and lo mein were OK, the mei fun was quite good. The orange chicken was very good (must have gotten lucky that it was fresh when served and can say that most of the pieces were chicken and not batter). The broccoli beef was OK, ended up getting mostly broccoli. Also got the curry chicken, which had whole expertly choppep up, bone-in chicken with just a touch of yellow curry...it was delicious. Finally, we also got the stir fried green beans with pork, and it was excellent...with the beans nicely stur-fried to produce the wrinkled skin that I really like. All of it was quite good, especially for the price, and they are generous with the portions. One can also order a la carte, in which they have shrimp dishes. They also offer different types of soup, and have egg rolls. I ended up also getting a package of Amay's fortune cookies for $1.75 and it was fresh (which sometimes I've found to be a problem at other Chinese restaurants). We've been having some taste and/or availability problems with our usual haunts in the area, so will definitely be back to try their other dishes.

Charise A.

Yelp
Pork fried rice & Lo mien cooked to perfection & large quantity. I will definitely return.

Henry H.

Yelp
Food is exactly what you would expect from a Chinese spot like this. Solid! Unfortunately, they are no longer DoorDash, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to order from them anymore... Hope they can correct that obvious misstep.
google avatar

Yelp
I paid $10.75 for two egg rolls, Chow Mein noodles and mixed vegetables (VEGANS UNITE!!). The plate was almost free of seasoning - as in zero added flavor which is miraculous for a Chinese quick serve establishment. I don't know what draws in the steady stream of regulars. Perhaps in the future God will explain to me why this experience was necessary.

Yelp
this is my go to Chinese Food spot in Long Beach. Their Pork Chow Mein, Orange Chicken, honey walnut shrimp, spicy crispy chicken and pork skewers are Delicious. Staff is amazing!

Yelp
Super affordable quality delicious food, we ordered the BBQ pork fried rice and chicken chowmein, the portions were large and the food was exactly what I was looking for.

Yelp
Totally recommend the salt and pepper chicken Wongs. So delicious. Run by super nice people! Please tip them well.

Annise C.

Yelp
Nasty taste , no flavor , extra charge for idk what , didn't even answer any of my questions, never coming back again

Kim S.

Yelp
The food is really tasty and every time I have visited, the service is great! Very kind staff.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by around 6pm after work. Good food and service overall. Great taste, affordable prices, and they aren't stingy with their portions in my humble opinion. Wa Wa just has more flavor in comparison to other fast-food Chinese restaurants. The photos I attached are several bites in already. They are also super friendly and attentive. Had to stop eating for a min and give credit where it was due. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
A lot of what your experience will be like here depends on timing and luck. They are pretty average as far as Chinese fast food goes, but if you happen to be ordering right as a fresh reload of orange chicken comes out, you're in luck, because it is really good. It's hard to complain the rest of the time. You shouldn't be surprised by any of the food or prices. Even the soups are standard and yummy and comforting. Staff is friendly, service is speedy, and the prices are fair with huge portions. One thing to note, I was pleasantly surprised when they had curry one day. It was fairly mild, but I really enjoyed it and it was quite tasty. I hope they'll have it again next time I'm here.

Yelp
After ordering my family dinner and spending 125$ from this place all the dinner's I got came With almost no meat mostly vegetables, that wasn't the the main issue , the quality and taste of The food was so bad I ended throwing all The food out and getting dinner somewhere else .
google avatar

Yelp
I live in dtlb and come to this place -- if I am Really Desperate for semblance of "Chinese" food. I regret it every time. Today I came, mainly for the chow mein. But hey, since one item is about $9 and three items - $11. I got The Deal. OMG Chow mein was barely ok and so was spicy chicken - because it was freshly cooked. The fried shrimps were Gross -- soggy and mushy. If I am gonna desecrate my body by eating fried food, they should be crispy. The 3rd item I got was curry chicken. So Bad: the potato was hard because it was undercooked. The chicken tasteless. I am completely disgusted with my Revisiting thid place This review is chiefly for me: to remind me to never return!!

Yelp
It never disappoints it's the gift that keeps on giving. Hands down it's the best Chinese food in downtown Long Beach and the customer service is fantastic.

Yelp
I LOVE this place, and I'm disappointed with myself for having of taken this long to put down a review. I've been going for YEARS. Their food is so cheap, and of really good quality. No joke, you can walk out the place with enough food for a family of 3 (I have a family of 3) and everybody is stuffed. I've yet to come across any item that just isn't good. All delicious Chinese food and so cheap, and their place is clean as well. Their staff is nice and each time I go, I spend up to $60-70 for food that will last me multiple days. Love Wa Wa!
google avatar

Yelp
I have been patronizing this establishment since 2001. The dishes being prepared by the Chef has always been stellar as well as delicious. There's never been an instance where the food was sub par. You can't go wrong stopping in to pick up your order to go, or using Grubhub to deliver your order to your residence. The Cantonese flavor of the food is quite exceptional. Good eating!
google avatar

Yelp
Simple and great Chinese fast food in downtown! It is walking distance from my office and I think this is definitely so much better than Panda or Chen's. The staff are also so nice and kind and they really pack your plate! There is not much else to say it is pretty straight forward Chinese fast food. I love their orange chicken and chow mei. My goto is the 2 items plate with chow mei, orange chicken, and mushroom/zucchini chicken.
google avatar

Carrie L.

Yelp
The house special fried rice was quite good but the Kung pao chicken was the worst I've ever had! The food was packed well and service was prompt. I had it delivered. I threw out the Kung pao chicken it was THAT bad.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall that provides deliciousness at a very reasonable price! We've tried a couple soups and the fried cream cheese won tons and everything has been delicious. The owner seems to work consistently and is always super friendly. The other options they make in the hot bar look delicious but are more meat heavy (orange chicken, broccoli beef, etc) so I haven't tried them yet. Maybe when some friends come to town. Either way - will definitely be exploring more of the menu here in time!
google avatar

Bawz L.

Yelp
Food and customer service were so good! I received a call to confirm a replacement was okay and it was!! Portions were great too!
google avatar

Jonah O.

Yelp
In my humble opinion, I would say that they have... not bad, but average/good fast food Chinese food you've seen before. The taste is good to average to me. Try them out and see, you can't please all of the people all of the time.
google avatar

Jesse P.

Yelp
So far this is one of my favorite Chinese food places to go. That walnut shrimp is like no other. The last time I came here they didn't have it, but if they do I won't think twice and grab it...
google avatar

Yelp
I was looking for a reasonably priced place ($10 or less) by my office in DTLBC, and saw Wa Wa with positive reviews. I saw items like won ton soup ($6.50) and a two item combo ($7.65). In addition, I also saw that you receive a 16 oz drink w/ Yelp checkin: I said its worth a try. Wa Wa is on 1st St, just East of Elm. I ordered the two item combo w/ chicken & vegetables and a chicken skewer. Wa Wa offers a bunch of items for the combo like pork skewers, orange chicken, beef & broccoli. All of the items were in shallow pans and looked fresh. My lunch was decent. As I said, the food was fresh and I was full. The taste wasn't great, but what do you expect for the price: 3 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, its a hole in the wall w/ a few tables inside and a few tables outside. Many peeps took their order to go: 3 Stars. So why the 4 Stars, you might say? Well, the owners are super nice & friendly. Additionally, the free drink makes the meal a total steal at $7.65. I can see myself returning for the won ton soup, and a skewer or a couple of egg rolls: 4 Stars. Wa Wa is definitely on the rotation when I am looking for something inexpensive and simple. Metered parking was right in front, and the clientele seemed chill too.

Yelp
Best place for chicken chow mien! Their fried rice is great as well! Love this spot :)
google avatar

Valerie A.

Yelp
The orange chicken arrived raw/uncooked and without sauce which was a huge let down. I ordered it through Postmates, spent over $60 on this order, was hungry and excited to eat, opened it to find the chicken ice cold and without sauce. At first I thought maybe they had the sauce on the side and we had to put it on ourselves, but there wasn't any sauce for the chicken. Then, my bf took a bite and said it was raw and spit it out. He then called them, and they were apologetic. After eating the cooked food, I would say the food is mediocre at best. The veggie chow mein and chicken fried rice lacked flavor. The broccoli beef was the only thing I enjoyed. The egg rolls were okay. The Panda Express on 5th and Long Beach Blvd has better food quality and I wish I had gone there.
google avatar

Dennis C.

Yelp
This place is great! Not only is it affordable but delicious. There are so many items to choose and the rice and chow mein are always a must. The first couple of times I've been here I tried just about everything. The one menu item i love the most is the salt and pepper chicken. The guy that usually serves me us friendly and always quick. You'll be in and out in no time. I always get two items but if you go with one item it's enough to fill anyone up. Definetly the neighborhoods spot for Chinese takeout. I recommend you check it out!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome value for the large servings, level of flavor & freshness at this price point! I'll be back!

Yelp
Salt and pepper chicken wings so wonderfullly delicious. They'll make anything fresh, but better to go for lunch

Yelp
Oh yes, yes, yes!! Finally, a Chinese restaurant in Long Beach that is delicious, decently priced and has delivery. During this trying time, I've tried to spread the love to the local restaurants with disappointing results, even from some of my local favorites. Wa Wa was a bookmark that I've had on my to do list for a while. It did not disappoint! I ordered sooo much food by accident. I can't tell you how happy I am about it. The Salt & Pepper Shrimp was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. There were lots of shrimp - more than enough for several meals. The mixed vegetables were outstanding - crispy, plentiful and not too salty. Wor Wonton Soup is saved for tomorrow. Mixed Chow Mien totally hit the spot and even seconds could not satisfy me wanting to consume the entire serving! Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings we're simply amazing. I've been in Long Beach for a year now, hunting and searching for a great Chinese restaurant. In these trying times I've finally found it. Don't hesitate to order from Wa Wa. It is perfect!!
google avatar

Hart P.

Yelp
I come here when I am looking for a quick filling lunch at a reasonable price. Nothing fancy and good Asian cuisine. I really appreciate the non-fried entrees. Dishes are cycled pretty quickly so they haven't tasted flat and the vegetables have still had "snap" when I ate them.
google avatar

Denesee G.

Yelp
I've come to this establishment off and on since 2011 , and I've always loved it. Today, that changed when Stephanie, the woman behind the counter was EXTREMELY rude and condescending towards my daughter and toddler grandson, who were only asking questions about the food before ordering. Stephanie's attitude and demeanor was extremely negative, unprofessional and there is no way that she is there serving customers! NO WAY!!! At one point, she even asks my daughter "have you not been here before" and sighs heavily! After my daughter left, I called back to get the name of the owner and she refused, asking if I was the customer who just left! I told her who I was, then asked again for the owner's information, she kept saying "Huh" as if she could no longer hear, but would answer every other question. She then goes "I have things to do" and hung up! The food is very good but the customer service is HORRIBLE! A complete turn off!
