The 26 Best Restaurants In Mumbai - Mumbai - The Infatuation

"Waarsa, by the Ode team, takes the idea that Awadhi food is meaty and nap-inducing, and flips it on its head. Located in the National Centre for the Performing Arts, this spot attracts everyone from families to theater buffs with its light, fragrant, vegetarian-friendly Awadhi dishes—inspired as much by home hearths as by royal kitchens. There’s equal delight in a tangy Uttari paanch patta saag made from five leafy greens, a gucchi nadru yakhni, made silky with white pumpkin seed and ridge gourd puree, and a fennel-and-allspice-rubbed battak ke kebab served with a delicate yet meaty broth. We love that we can have a big meal here and head right to a performance at the Tata Theatre next door, and stay awake past intermission." - roshni bajaj sanghvi

It's difficult to find good North Indian delicacies in Mumbai. Waarsa definitely helps bridge the gap. The atmosphere and the food is equally soothing. For starters we had, Rajma Chukander ki Galouti: 4/5 Kairi Shakarandi ka Tikka: 4/5 In mocktails, Divine Passion: 4/5 Zero Proof Americano: 6/5 For mains, Kache Kale ke kofte: 5/5 The gravy is velvety!! Taftan: 3/5 All and all, an experience worth reliving.

I visited Waarsa after seeing a few reels about their Biryani Festival, but honestly, it didn’t quite live up to the hype. I tried the Islampuri Chaap Biryani — the mutton was well-cooked and flavourful, inspired by Bengal-style biryani. Interestingly, they used sweet potato instead of the usual potato, and the classic boiled egg was missing. The mutton portion was generous, but the rice quantity was just enough for one person. To be fair, the staff was kind enough to offer an extra bowl of rice for my friend. I also tried the Tangdi Kebab, which was soft, juicy, and nicely done — not extraordinary, but definitely enjoyable. The Mutton Galouti Kebab was the real winner — absolutely delicious. The Dal Makhani was standard, like what you’d get at most restaurants. Maybe I went in with high expectations after seeing all the hype online, but overall, I’d say it’s a decent experience made better by their warm, courteous staff and good service.

Waarsa at NCPA, Nariman Point, is a gem serving authentic Awadhi cuisine. The food is flavorful yet light, with dishes like Raan-e-Mukhtar (slow-cooked goat leg) and Zafrani Lagaan Murgh stealing the show. Vegetarian options like Bhindi Kali Mirch and Lauki aur Chana Dal Shikhampuri are equally delightful. The Kesar Phirni was the highlight—creamy, aromatic, and perfectly sweet. Their cocktails, like The Emperor’s Rose and Gin Gilori, are creative and pair well with the meal. The ambiance is stunning, with salmon-hued walls, intricate ceilings, and elegant decor, creating a warm, royal vibe. Service is top-notch, attentive, and friendly, making the experience special. Chefs Rahul Akerkar and Mukhtar Qureshi, culinary geniuses, craft a menu blending royal and home-style Awadhi flavors. Owned by Aditya Birla New Age Hospitality, Waarsa is a must-visit for food lovers seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Mumbai. Cocktails: Emperor Rose: A refreshing, floral drink. Gin Gilori: A gin-based cocktail with delicate flavors. Court Jester: Gin with pickled Bhavnagri chili, jasmine, and mint. Despite some inconsistency in early reviews, the drinks complement the cuisine beautifully. Popular Dishes:Non-vegetarian: Raan-e-Mukhtar, Zafrani Lagaan Murgh, Murgh Gilafi Seekh Kebab, Rampuri Kacche Gosht ki Tikki. Vegetarian: Bhindi Kali Mirchi, Lauki aur Chana Dal Shikhampuri, Awadhi Tawa Paneer Pasanda, Kasundi Baingan Tikka. Desserts: Kesar Phirni, Angoori Rabdi. Others: Chilgoza Shorba, Gucchi Biryani, Daal Q-Man. Must try place.

Fine dine place at NCPAserving authentic awadhi cuisine. Most dishes hit the spot perfectly. Highlights would be the korma soup, kebabs, paneer gravies and the biryani

Waarsa was an absolute delight! While the ambience is fairly simple and understated, the food more than makes up for it. Every dish we tried was phenomenal...rich in flavour, beautifully balanced, and truly reminiscent of authentic Mughlai indulgence. A special shout out to Rugved, whose service was impeccable. He guided us with great recommendations and ensured everything was just right throughout our meal. We especially loved the nihari, the chef’s special mushrooms, and the butter chicken...each one, a standout in its own way.

The meal was really delicious, however it was not particularly exceptional or authentic to the cuisine or dish specified. The service was quite nice; the restaurant waiters went beyond their usual job to serve us. The decor and ambience were off-putting. The restaurant appears to have opened before it was fully operational. The ongoing construction in the adjacent space kills the vibe. It also detracts from the overall experience when you have to walk through the construction site, surrounded by construction debris, to use the restroom and hand-wash.

Waarsa is a lovely Awadhi restaurant at the ncpa. The dishes here are quite different than your regular ones. We started with subz santra shorba which was excellent. For appetisers we tried the Avadhi tawa paneer pasanda and the shakarkand tikka. Both were flavourful and delicious. For mains we tried the uttari panch patta saag which was comforting and good. We paired it with Ambada dal tadka, malai paratha, makai roti, raita and a tarkari dum biryani. What a fantastic meal it was. We loved the biryani. It was extremely flavourful. We ended with a pista kulfi. Also, the cocktails and mocktails are fantastic. Overall a fantastic experience.

there was a photo shoot happening at the restaurant today from 4:30, so there was commotion from 3 (setting up lights, moving paintings) while we were eating - we were also asked to move from where we were sitting so they could set up for the photoshoot (this was at 3:30, the restaurant hours are till 4) the owner came to our table at 4:15 while we were just finishing up and said that they were going to start a photoshoot so “can you guys be quiet or how is this going to work” i dont understand how such a highly rated place can be so bad at service, it was truly a harrowing experience. we had booked a table in advance where they could have mentioned that they were going to need us to move at 4 - we would have dined elsewhere in that case because it is not like the food was cheap
