Disappointing Experience at Wahlburgers Hollywood Blvd
We entered the restaurant before 9:00 PM—our receipt was timestamped 8:44 PM. While we were placing our order, our 7-year-old family member urgently needed to use the bathroom. A staff member, who was already cleaning the area, rudely told us the restroom was closed. Despite explaining that a child needed it badly, she flatly refused in a stern and dismissive tone.
Thankfully, Brandon, who was taking our order, stepped in and was the only bright spot in our visit. He apologized on behalf of his coworker and kindly directed us to the nearest public restroom—at the mall across the street. He even described which floor to go to, which was very thoughtful and appreciated.
Brandon informed us that although the restaurant was closing soon, he could still take our order in to-go containers. We clarified if we could still eat inside, and he assured us that it was fine since we were there before closing.
We received our food, sat down, and began eating quietly. Moments later, the same staff member approached again, reminding us the restaurant closes at 9:00 PM. We double-checked with Brandon, and he confirmed that since we got our food before 9:00, we could stay to finish.
We could overhear Brandon telling her to relax, but she snapped back, “We don’t have enough labor for this”—which felt especially inconsiderate given that we had left a tip.
Still, we tried to finish quickly and quietly. But again, she returned and curtly said, “We’re closing.” I responded, “Just finishing up,” to which she replied, “I gave you a five-minute warning. Now you have one minute.” At that point, we had to pack up, and some of us couldn’t finish our meals due to the pressure and unwelcoming treatment.
Even if the burgers are good, the poor customer service—especially how the staff made a family with a child feel so unwelcome—completely ruined the experience. Sadly, we won’t be returning to Wahlburgers.
