NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Curiously, this is not the first bar named Waiting On A Friend to open in the East Village. There was another that only made it a couple months, back in 2018. Hopefully this Waiting On A Friend, a cocktail bar that’s open late in the former Borrachito space on Avenue A, makes it a little longer." - will hartman

Great space - very clean. Drinks are great and the staff were kind. The music was nice and at an appropriate volume to still maintain conversations. We enjoyed ourselves.

Hosted my birthday party here over the summer and it was perfect. The back room has its own bar with the most fun bar tenders! Jessie was extremely communicative and helpful during the planning process. Grace and the whole team ensured the night went absolutely perfectly, assisting me with anything we needed including a security guard at the entrance of the room to ensure it was just our party in the back during the slotted time. Everyone at the party had so much fun the music was great we ended up staying until close. Would absolutely recommend them for any event you have in mind.

Had my birthday here, and it was one of the best hosting experiences I've ever had in the city. The waitstaff (shout out to Noah & Sushmita) was amazing, and the events team on email was super clear and communicative! Will be back, and highly recommend!

I went for a day party type of meet up. It’s a nice place. Out the way and not too crowded. A mixed crowd mostly Indian which is cool, just worth mentioning. They have a pretty trendy vibe and the outside area in the back was nice to chill and have lively debates without music as the background. The bartender made the drinks just right! Well worth the money! Bathroom was fairly decent. A little pissy but that’s to be expected at a bar. There was soap to wash hands and tissue to wipe so that’s more than sufficient.

My friend and I hosted a party here and Jeremy Jesse and Grace were so nice and so kind and helped execute this party in such a lovely manner. We had a wonderful time and our guests thoroughly enjoyed the experience and everyone loved the environment. We will be back. The drinks are so good. I highly recommend cruel summer!

we hosted my boyfriend’s bday here and had the best time! the planning process was super easy and the staff were so kind and accommodating! We booked a private area and it was so worth it when the bar was busy. Great vibes, music and drinks — highly recommend this place for your bday or a drink out!

TOP GEM IN THE AREA, RUN DON’T WALK I was out with my friends for what’s known to bartenders as the nuttiest, craziest shift (St Patrick’s). All the other spots we hit up were rude and the vibes were meh. We walked in to Waiting on a Friend and the energy was immediately SO GOOD! Great mix of people, great music, super friendly. We had a great night and stayed until close to closing when I noticed someone had accidentally swiped my jacket instead of her own. That meant no apt keys, I was panicking. Security (who was lovely) pointed me to the bartender (also lovely - got me a bottled water) who grabbed the manager and he was INCREDIBLE. Super kind and calm; we exchanged numbers so I could see if the jacket came back and he ran to get me the COZIEST bar sweatshirt that is now MY FAVE PIECE OF CLOTHING so that my buzzed self could get home warm and cozy. I hadn’t even thought about being warm!! 11/10 behavior. Spend all your money.

Yelp
Heard about this place on Tiktok and came on a date with my partner. The seating arrangement is nice and good for dates, but the drinks are not that strong. We tried the martini and the matchapeño. Happy hour runs from 5-8pm and all cocktails are $14 along with other discounts. No reservations accepted unless a large party.
