Getting meat from walden is one of the best things we have done so far when it comes to quality, price and service. We started with the basic order and after few months we increased to something unique to what we really need. The eggs are the freaking best but also the beef stock, hearts, livers and tongue if you feel like experimenting with textures and flavors profiles . Or the chicken taste like a chicken should taste like...I can't buy meat at the regular stores now since the color and flavor of walden is just the closest thing I had to when I use to raise my own cows, chicken and pigs. Thank you for creating something very well needed and I will support you business and send more people your way. Cheers. I am hungry now.

Sent eggs with a date that was 6 weeks old. They claimed the eggs were fresh but had a labeling issue. Then future email said “we did our best to notify you”. They did nothing of the sort. I brought the issue up to them.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Walden Local Butcher Shop My New Meat Mecca (No DIDDY) Hands down, this is THE butcher shop. I walked in for a steak and walked out feeling like I had just joined an exclusive meat club I didn’t know I needed. Yes, it’s a little up there in price... But so is first-class, and this is the filet mignon of butcher shops. Worth every penny. The quality? Impeccable. The steak melted like butter, the burgers had me questioning every other patty I've ever eaten, and the poultry? Let’s just say my chicken came with a side of pride. The customer service? I’m not sure if I was shopping for meat or being welcomed home from war. The staff made me feel like I belonged... Like I was about to make a meal Gordon Ramsay would nod at. Long story short: if you're still buying meat from anywhere else... why? I’ll be back soon and often. Probably too often. Pray for my wallet, but not my taste buds, they’re living their best life.

So good !! The bird named Izzy that cut the meat changed my life. I was vegetarian before I entered the shop, but the meat slices were so well cut I had to update my consumption 🤷‍♀️

Fantastic — picked up one of the best ribeyes I’ve ever had. The meatballs and pork loin were also fresh and high quality. Will definitely be back soon.

I love their bacon, sausage and ground meat. The chicken is also good! But I'm having a hard time with their beef. Every cut I tried was tougher than it should be and not that tasty, even the nicest cuts. I don't have the same problem with grass fed meat from other farms so it's not how I cook it. I still go but for very specific product.

Not sure in what world a tenderloin is worth $60 a pound, and the cut looks to be the same as how other local butchers chop their tenderloins. Most butchers I have seen in the area cap at $45, but even that's a high end. Staff is super kind, and the variety is great, but prices like those feel like they're scalping you

I attended the butcher class. So informative. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beer and sparkling water while watching the class. Got to take home some goodies as well:) Will definitely return! Lots of spices and sauces available in store as well. Some dairy products as well.

Such a wonderful butcher shop: Top-notch meats, spotless surroundings, warm and wonderful staff (shout out to Izzie for exceptionally kind and thoughtful help). An automatic go-to for meats in South End or elsewhere (I think they may ship). A neighborhood gem!

Walden Local is a fantastic neighborhood butcher shop with friendly and knowledgeable experts. They have great customer service, and I've been a loyal customer for years! Strongly recommend to any one looking for the best quality meat in Boston to feed themselves, their friends or their family.

To start, the meat selections are impeccable. Everything is pasture-raised and grass-fed. They are as fresh and as tasty as meats can be. They care about their customers and it shows. From the moment you enter the door, inquire about different cuts, to checking out, you will not be rushed through any of the steps. They are kind and patient. They treat their customers right. Truly a gem in Boston.

So glad they have a local shop, that I can actually see what I will buy, fresh, not frozen. All their cut and quality are superb. Recently tried their pork chop with bones, the meat is so tender and fresh. Also, they have my favorite, pork hock, feet, belly, bones. The beef bones, different cut of steak are fantastic, flavorful, grass fed quality. Staff are helpful and friendly, and help me to chop up bones, hock into pieces. The quality is far better than Whole Foods, local gem!

Best bacon ever!! Lovely and very helpful staff. When you need to consider upping your iron levels, it's nice to know your meal won't include any of the hideous things we pump into cows for fast food.

Their meat are best. Better than whole food's meat! Not joking. I always use their pork bone to make stock. When I buy a bone from the shop, my friends know that they are going to have a super delicious dinner.

A real butcher shop that does it right. All quality local meats brought to the South End. You get what you pay for here. Cuts you can't find elsewhere with expertise that hardly exists anymore. They also have beer. That's fun!

Wished we lived closer so we could walk by. The store has the most beautiful cuts and the quality is great. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. For example, we bought pork belly here and at Eataly for comparison. Even though Eataly was more expensive by a dollar, we ended up throwing away Eataly's pork because it had a slight smell. We look forward to buying more cuts from Walden!

I picked up a 2 pound piece of ribeye to grill for dinner last night. Best piece of ribeye we've ever had (those eaten at restaurants included). The meat was so flavorful that it barely needed any seasoning. It was just a gorgeous piece of meat with beautiful and just right amounts of fat. Can't wait to try their other cuts (next on my list is the dry aged sirloin). The gentleman helping me was patient and explained all the different cuts. The fact that Walden is less than a 10 min walk to my apartment might mean I will rarely go out to restaurants for steaks anymore!

Just picked up a 2lb porterhouse steak to share with some friends. We all agreed it was the best steak we've ever tasted. Staff was super friendly and went through and explained the cuts and helped me figure out which cut was the best for indoor cooking. Also picked up some marrow bones for the dogs! Will definitely be back!

I used to be part of their monthly subscription option, which is how I got introduced to them, and was super excited to hear they're opening a brick-and-mortar location! They have fabulous cuts, always super-seasonal (which is their whole thing, keeping it local and sustainable). They also have eggs, sausages, condiments and jams, all great, local New England stuff. You always get inspired when you go there, and the people behind the counter are very helpful with suggestions, advice, and recipe ideas.

This place has the greatest quality meat in the Boston area and fabulous customer service. They also accept orders for certain items that aren't usually in the store, which I really appreciate.

Outstanding quality locally raised meat. I typically call in an order for pickup. Their website lists meat that's sold in the shop. They also do subscription boxes. Great quality local eggs. Walden also sells fish. Local treasure

I got hot dogs, marinated chicken breasts, and 7 different types of sausages here. All were fabulous, and I would definitely go back again.
