How to Age Wine and Why You Should Do It | Eater

"A retailer that specializes heavily in vintage wine, assembled by founder Walker Strangis through estate sales, auctions, and private-collection sourcing. It offers everything from extremely rare back vintages of brands like Raveneau or Krug to more accessible aged bottles—such as roughly 20-year-old Penner Ash pinot—making it a one-stop source for both collectors and newcomers seeking birth-year or aged bottles." - Jordan Michelman

This place is so nice! Everyone was very helpful, and there were tons of cherries, including sour ones, which are my favorite. (And not so easy to find!). Thank you Walker's. We'll be back next year!

I brought my children here to pick cherries at the recommendation of family when I was was visiting in the early weeks of summer, and I would never return. The pitting machine was not good, many pits and pit fragments left over and some made it into our pies. What was more unsettling was the discovery of a brownish black pond of water bordering one of the orchards while we were exploring the orchards. The smell was awful! What are they growing back there?! We found this after we had finished our picking and if my kids didn't just spend 2 hours picking, I would have left. How has nobody noticed this??

Great cherry picking experience!

I love taking my kid to Walkers to pick cherries. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful. It’s unfortunate they can’t pit sweets anymore, so be prepared that if you want pitted sweet cherries you will need to pit them yourself.

Me and my mother went cherry picking here this year, and we had a wonderful time. The owner said it was the best year they have had for cherries ever. We picked about 45lbs of cherries, 2 different kinds of sweet, and 1 kind of sour. I will say that my mom had her sour cherries pitted there in a machine for a minimal fee, save your money, when we got home she said they were still loaded with pits. But otherwise this place is wonderful!

Made my annual stop for grape juice to make wine. Usually I stop the first week of October to also pick some grapes ... Concord and Niagara ... which are fantastic. At least a couple of dozen types of juices available. Have my own glass carboys. Walkers offers advice on how to make your wine along with offering the yeast and supplies you need. I like supporting local farmers. They're good people.

Great cherry picking, we go every year. The pitter doesn't work very well though, a lot of cherries still have pits in them after using it.

I've been buying wine juice here for many years and have never been disappointed. Great place, and very knowledgeable. If your not experienced, they have directions on how to make wine and everything necessary to make it.

Yelp
This isn't just a wine supply store. They have a huge pick-your-own cherry orchard! For many years now, I have been going here with my wife and her family. It's an Independence Day tradition. I know Walkers is known nationwide for their wine juice, but the cherry orchard is vast and not to be discounted. Aside from the one year that the Amish showed up and bought the entire harvest, there is always good pickings here. Around Independence Day weekend, the trees are bountiful, especially the sours. Between the four of us, we came out with 43 pounds last year. We reigned it in and only took 27 pounds this year. We eat them fresh or freeze them to make pies throughout the year. And like all respectable farm stands, there are bored teens working the booth. It's good wholesome fun. Long Live Walkers. Pro Tip: Know that the pitting machine will only get 50% of the pits, so don't put the cherries straight into a pie. You'll need to do your own pitting run when you get home.

Yelp
They have many different grape juices for the home winemaker, not just grapes, but also seasonal local berries may of the juices are locally sourced, yet there are others brought in which are different and not local, carboys and fermenting pails, and the rest of the gear and ingredients you need to produce wines. They even have an Atm. Bring your own pails or jugs to reuse or buy one of theirs if you are passing through and unprepared. I am thankful for this fine local resource! Keep going Walkers!

Yelp
Walker's is our Go To place for all our family's winemaking needs. (They are near my hometown.) We just came back from our annual autumn trek with an 8 foot pickup truck bed full of juices. This is a family operation and all the employees are super friendly and helpful. Believe me, it would be easy to get impatient with us, because, while we are really nice people, we invariably get 10 varieties of juice (or more!) in 2 dozen 5-gallon carboys. It takes a while to write up our order, and quite a while to fill the carboys. Everyone is always really cheerful and they even joke around with us! Along with juices, the Walkers have fruit (baskets of grapes, apples etc), honey from their bees, and delicious fudge in 8 or so varieties! But don't ask what's in their juice blend for rose wine. It's a family secret! :) Oh, and they even ship their juice via UPS. IMPORTANT: Remember to bring cash or a check because they don't accept credit/debit cards.

Yelp
I am a big fan of Walker's! My family comes here for juice for winemaking every fall. They have a great selection of juices, and their staff is super friendly. Everything you need to be a home winemaker can be found at Walker's.

Yelp
I love this place! They have everything you could possibly need, including great advice. I love that you can visit the tasting room, and try out the finished products. They have too many varieties of juice to count, and they also have a great set up that has you in and out and on your way in a jiffy.
