The Asian-infused ice cream flavors selections offered by multiple ice cream parlors in LA always get me hooked. Wanderlust has been one of the long well-known ones with some of their iconic all-time options, such as Ube Malted Crunch, Matcha, or Black Sesame. They sometimes kind of rotate the combo of those flavors such as they used to have Japanese Neapolitan featuring Matcha, Hojicha, and Black Sesame while it is now Matcha, Vanilla, and Sakura. My fave is their Ube Malted Crunch which is doubtlessly Filipino inspired.
They do offer some limited-edition rotating monthly flavors. Recently I tried their Konggaru and Kyoho Grape Jelly which was called as Korean American PBJ, featuring toasted soybean ice cream with kyoho grapes jam; certainly a unique one to explore. Another one was Vietnamese Rocky Road, which as expected Vietnamese coffee ice cream, combined with sweet touch from condensed milk marshmallow and caramelized cacao nibs. Perfect one when you're coffee lover and fancy something not too sweet. Another one for caffeine's hunter would potentially be their milk coffee jelly. If you're into black sesame for your dessert, the cookies and cream black sesame might be your cup of tea. Or for more adventurous option probably mango sticky rice?
As you wish, they offered free samples so you could definitely try before deciding which to order. The attendants were very helpful offering recommendations as well. I used to go to either their Fairfax or Sawtelle outlets and recently figured out they had one in Venice, whose space was even way bigger and nicer to accommodate bigger groups. Best deal was surely their Tasting Trio, offering 3 smaller scoops but giving the option to go for 3 different flavors and honestly speaking they're definitely not small small! Psstttt. They offered this on the price of Single until July 31 in honor of National Ice Cream Day! Thank me later ;)
