I recently tried Wasabi Sushi & Asian Grill in Fargo, and I absolutely loved it! The place itself is super inviting with a nice, contemporary feel. I went for the Red Dragon and Rainbow rolls, and both were stellar. The Red Dragon roll was the perfect mix of spicy and savory, and it had this amazing freshness that you can only get from top-quality sushi. The Rainbow roll was a colorful delight, loaded with a variety of fresh fish that melted in my mouth, all wrapped around perfectly seasoned rice. The service was fantastic friendly and attentive. They really made the meal enjoyable, ensuring everything was just right. If you find yourself in Fargo and have a sushi craving, Wasabi is the place to go. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of their menu!

I have been here several times and always had great service. The food is delicious! Most recently I made a fairly large order for my daughter’s birthday party, it was great! The only issue was dressing on the salad when I asked for it on the side. It got soggy by the time I was ready to eat. I love the salad so I was very sad. Everything else was great!

Google
It was pretty good but felt like it could have been a bit better.

We were here for the girls national wrestling championships. I wanted to love this place . The atmosphere was nice . The ramen was good . But the sushi rice was mushy/doughy and my blood mary had little to no alcohol.

Stopped here for dinner on a weekday while checking out Fargo for two nights during a road trip. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. The waitress Dani gave some great recommendations and made the experience great. I tried two pieces of sasihimi and beef bulgogi. Both were delicious and came out quick.

Google
OMG!! Blown away by the quality of their sushi! Also the edamame was great, with a spin compared to usual ones! They have combos, like a regular and a special roll for just 17 usd! Try this place if you are in downtown Fargo!

Google
The new location is beautiful, tidy, and cozy. I enjoyed two simple sushi rolls over lunch. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was great. I plan to stop by for lunch again soon!

Google
My wife and I have been to all of the sushi places in town and wasabi is by far our favorite.

Yelp
Had a great meal here for lunch this week. The three of us ordered 5 different items among us and shared them. My main two items were their Downtown Roll (Tempura shrimp, spicy mayo, crunch & more) & Dakota Roll (spicy tuna, crunch, avocado & more) - which were the items the group liked the best. The service was attentive and we received our food very quickly. If you've never been there, Poke Bowl is upfront and then you walk into Wasabi in the back, on your left.

Yelp
First time in Wasabi. I stayed at the Radisson Hotel that is only a 1 minute walk. It was pretty empty but that is how i like it! I got three different sushi rolls, I got the Caterpillar roll, the northern Pacific roll, and the Downtown Roll. I got the caterpillar roll first because I know I like that role and I wanted to make sure it was good before I got anything else. These rolls were YUMMY!! I honestly wanted to get another downtown roll, but I knew I wouldn't have any room for ice cream later. Great place to go! Great ambience, cute decor, the music selection was really good, and a great server!! Definitely recommend going, especially if it's your first time in Fargo!

Yelp
Can I just say MOUTRH-WATERING JUST THINKING OF WASABI!!? From offerings at their original location to their new where there you ALSO can easily partake in dining via Poke' Bowl-- I don't think anyone WOULDN'T be delighted by the offerings and varieties. Prices are always great and in-line with the specialty of such food, maybe you could wait a tad longer but again, the artistry and care put into creating these dishes and let's just say it, WORKS OF ART, is WELL WORTH IT!! I slightly miss the ambiance of the original location, but again, having Poke' available to please a WHOLE crowd of cravings- can't be beat!

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by some of the local college kids... YUMMMMM!!! Food was fresh and delicious and we received great service! Definitely a must try in the fun Downtown Fargo area!

Yelp
We've been here for lunch a couple times and this is the best sushi place in the FM area (faint praise, maybe?) We've had a few different appetizers, rolls, and nigiri and it's all fresh and tasty. The less heralded sushi like squid, eel, fish egg, shellfish, and veggie rolls are especially good. The service is quick and friendly. The place has great atmosphere, too. We lived for several months in Japan and the restaurant really feels like a mom-and-pop restaurant in a medium-sized city in Japan.

Yelp
Saw this place as we were pulling into the hotel last night and decided I wanted to try it for lunch today. I ended up ordering a poke bowl and got both the spicy salmon and the ahi tuna for the protein. The flavors were great on both, they tasted fresh and had good portions. I don't remember everything I put in the bowl, but there is a pretty good selection of additional toppings for your bowl. My buddy got the bulgogi plate and that looked very good too. I'm glad I stopped in, it was good food and friendly service. If I'm ever back, I would eat here again.

Yelp
Ordered rainbow roll and ginger salad coming from NYC I do have access to best sushi eateries but this place killed it I'll be back . Well Done

Yelp
Good sushi, however one of the rudest servers I have ever encountered. I was very disappointed and will look elsewhere for better options.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute favorite sushi restaurant I've ever been to. They have a variety of options and special rolls. They have a two roll special where you can get a basic roll and a special roll for $15 when the special rolls are around $13 alone. I love that you can order Drunken Noodle from your table in Wasabi as well as Slurp (their new ramen restaurant). My favorites are the Corona roll, the Sweet Potato roll (tempura sweet potato and cream cheese), Crunch Munch roll, Red Dragon roll, as well as Yakisoba and Pad Thai from Drunken Noodle. Must have if you're in the mood for some seriously good sushi in Fargo. Also within walking distance of a ton of great bars!

Yelp
Our first visit since they moved to their new location on 2nd Ave. The service and quality of food was so much better that I absolutely have to update this review. We stopped by for a late afternoon snack and ended up ordering a couple rolls and some of the tempura appetizer. Staff was very friendly and service was great. Would recommend this time around....

Yelp
Love the ceviche, ambiance of place, owner(s) super friendly! Love the attentiveness of the waitstaff-earn and worth their tip! Try their amazing rolls too! Small place-about 10-15 tables. Tip: eat here after lunch or before dinner time because it gets full. Weekends are very full. 5

Yelp
The food is awesome. I eat here all the time. Amazing for North Dakota. The sushi is always fresh and the chefs are great. My favorite place to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
The Japanese curry and Salmon Teriyaki hit the right spot! Legit curry, although personally I'd like more sauce. Got a California roll not bad, but what surprised me was the wasabi and the fermented ginger! They were great!! Not like most restaurants serve you. Definitely will go back!
google avatar

Yelp
The best sushi in Fargo Moorhead. We always have amazing food here, consistent, clean, and a cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
I had some take out sushi from here during this pandemic. I ordered over the phone, it was ready when she said it would be ready and the fish was fresh and the rolls tasty, I like my rolls pretty basic, tuna and avocado and salmon and avocado and both were tasty. The only downer was they didn't give me enough soy sauce packets, only 2 packets that had very little soy sauce in them. Otherwise everything was good.

Christian J.

Yelp
Had to wait an hour for food that was mediocre at best. I wanted Japanese, I wanted Fargo, but this really wasn't good food. May very well have come out of a can because there was no fresh pop to it. Big disappointment.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a taste for sushi while in Fargo and decided to check out Wasabi. Very satisfied. Service by Cortney was great. She suggested the special roll of the day, the crunchy munchy roll which was delicious. It came topped with flaming hot cheetos. Very different. Had Sapporo with my sushi. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
I came to Wasabi for the first time yesterday and they did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was delicious! My boyfriend ordered two sushi rolls and he had a good amount of his plate. The prices was appropriate for the size of the dishes. The food was wonderful and the service was fast! I recommend here if you love sushi and Asian food! Majority of the menu is sushi and not too many entrees.

Elaa B.

Yelp
That was the best sushi I have had, we got the Corona roll, caterpillar roll and a basic tuna roll. It was around Valentine's Day and they made my tuna roll into little hearts. The sushi was absolutely delicious, definitely up there with the best I've had and I've had a lot of sushi. Great service, great place, nice soft light and not too loud music.
google avatar

Krystal T.

Yelp
Excellent sushi and selection! Every order comes with miso soup which was good. Really enjoyed the sushi, it was similar to what we can get in a big city!
google avatar

Chelsea V.

Yelp
I came here for the first time today, and I'm new in town. I loved it. The poke bowl was refreshing, light, and delicious! We also tried the corona roll, spicy scallops roll, and the Res dragon. You can't go wrong with whatever you try!
google avatar

Yelp
It's been ages since I've gone out for Japanese food; I've passed by Wasabi a number of times and finally decided to try it. Wasabi did NOT let me down. It's mainly a sushi bar but they have other selections too. The miso soup could be better but on the plus side, it's not overpoweringly salty tasting. They also make a killer plate of steamed chicken gyoza (dumplings) and you also have the option of getting them fried. How does the sushi stack up? Amazingly good. They have many of the usual selections like tuna, salmon, shimp, octopus and vegetarian. Plus it's made fresh before you at the sushi bar so you know you're getting food food! Anyone in downtown Fargo itching for a potent plate of sushi needs to get over to Wasabi right away.
google avatar

Donald B.

Yelp
FAKE SUSHI! Imitation crab, frozen and then thawed scallops I'm sure just a bag of them from grocery store type deal. Yet prices on par with real sushi. The staff just looked at me like sorry. WTF people have to have gotten sick from this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Wasabi is, in my opinion, the best sushi place in Fargo. The food, atmosphere, and service are all wonderful! For food, I've tried their special rolls, regular rolls, and nigiri. Everything I've tried has been fairly good. Since I personally enjoy a little spice, my favorite things to order here are the red dragon roll and the 911 roll. For an extra kick, the "heart attack" appetizer is delicious! Their miso soup is incredible for the area (and it is complimentary!) The service has always been good, the servers are personable and we're always served in a timely manner. I also love the atmosphere, as it creates a very laid back feeling which is enjoyable for a night out with friends. Therefore, the restaurant itself is very nice and the price is reasonable. Come here for a good experience with great food!

Yelp
Awesome customer service and the food was great. I forgot this place was so good & great priced. The salmon avocado roll was awesome... Sushi is a drug

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and great service. I wasn't expecting to find such a contemporary, hip Japanese/sushi restaurant in Fargo. This felt like somewhere I would find in a more urban city on the east coast. They have a dozen or so seats and a sushi bar that overlooks the sushi chefs working their magic. I came for the hibachi, and ended up ordering the salmon teriyaki. The teriyaki glaze was had a nice sweet/tangy flavor combo and it was served with broccoli, carrots and lots of red onions (which is a big plus for me). The bowl of jasmine rice was pretty big. It also came with miso soup and a small salad with ginger dressing. For $13, this was a pretty solid deal. Lots of sake drink offerings, but I stuck with PBR, which was offered on tap for $3 a glass. The staff were very, very friendly. I was confused at first with how to order at the sushi bar since I was ordering off the hibachi menu. I ended up being helped by both a server and a sushi chef. My order was accidentally taken to another table, and my server was very apologetic and comped one of my two beers.

Yelp
I've had nothing but positive experiences at Wasabi Fargo. The staff is friendly, the sushi is fresh + delicious, and the environment is chill, yet welcoming. The convenient location and consistent quality service easily make this my favorite sushi destination in town. My go-to roll is the Crunch Munch and I also recommend the ginger salad. I'm not sure what they put in that dressing, but it's ridiculously good. Overall, A+ from me!

Yelp
Sushi is one of those items that is either done perfectly or fails shortly after trying in most cases. They failed in my opinion. Upon entering you will be greeted by a rather long dank passageway similar to the catholic catacombs in Rome, just wider. If you look forward towards the end you may notice a pair of sneakers with a pair of slacks draped over them. Before the host greets you, the mid-evil drapes must brush against your head. Now... Behold the industrial restaurant. That old basement floor opens up and leads everywhere. The host asked me to wait while he went off and cleaned a number of tables before seating me in the corner. But just about all the seats feel like there in the corner. The miso soup was overcooked - best served warm not hot. No seaweed and minimal amounts of small bits of tofu. It was at this point that I lost faith in wasabi. No Japanese sushi master would have stood behind what was served. What came next looked good but again fell short. The rice was cold. The spicy salmon was anything but spicy. Turning to the tiny marble ball of wasabi for heat. These may seem like small things but Sushi is and art form and taken very seriously by those who practice it. High standards are not needed to fail Wasabi. Chinese food under the false pretense of Japanese sushi. If you need your sushi fix - do it. But if your looking for an authentic Japanese Sushi dining experience RUN!

Abigail W.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite sushi place however the service is terrible - I placed an online order for pick up at 1210 - didn't receive until 1230 when they continued making sushi for other customers in front of me. They said their printer wasn't working which was the problem but wouldn't you assume they would do the order that was missed first?! Ridiculous.

Yelp
Great ambience, friendly staff, and good food. It was very busy when I went there but my sever had a smile and kept me posted about status of my order. I had Alaskan and tuna rolls both of which were pretty good. I'd try more things from the menu. Tastes really well. 10/10 for food. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a Saturday around 2:00. The decor is very artsy and funky. The server was really friendly and attentive. We had a bottle of the unfiltered sake, which was excellent. We had a salmon specialty roll, Northern Pacific Roll, a spicy tuna roll and regular salmon roll. The NPR was really good - one of the best I've ever had. The table beside us ordered Sake Bombs - which looked really cool. Think of a Jager Bomb but with Sake and a blue energy drink.
google avatar

Yelp
Haku Sake was on list but didn't see any other sake's from Gekeikan, like Black and Gold, Cap Ace, etc.

Yelp
Best Sushi Resturant around! Traveled all around the world and I sincerely like Wasabi the best. Their flavors are well balanced and their presentation is always creative/beautiful. If you want to eat quickly you might not like it, but if you like a bit slower pace lunch/dinner they are great! It has a very relaxed vibe and their staff have always been super professional, personable and prompt to any request. Their ambiance is simple and their new space is white, bright and kind of typical Fargo. Their previous location I did like more as it was unique, had great character, dim lighting, dramatic and a fun industrial vibe. Regardless, their food is phenomenal and just as great as always!

Yelp
Very deliscious! We had the Heart attack appetizer and the Broken Heart roll. Service and food were both great. Will definately go back.

Yelp
I moved from Atlanta to Fargo in August and was initially delighted to find a decent sushi spot right downtown. Unfortunately, after a dozen or so visits, I'm forced to conclude that Wasabi's sushi just doesn't make up for a consistently terrible dining experience. The restaurant is regularly understaffed, so two servers are left to deal with 18+ tables. And as sympathetic as I am, this means tables don't get bussed, so walk-ins are left staring at open tables during the inexcusably long wait at the host stand. Once seated, you'll waited for another indefinite period to order, while the same two servers scramble to get food and drinks to their other tables. Don't be surprised if your drinks are delayed or altogether forgotten. Once you've managed to place an order, the average wait time to receive your food is well over half an hour. You'll generally receive no attention from your server in the interim and no apology for or acknowledgement of the wait when the food finally arrives. All in all, I would budget nearly 2 hours for the average lunch. That said, it's still the only decent sushi place downtown -- and the sushi really is very decent. So I recommend either coming in during off-peak hours or, as I intend to do from here on out, calling in an order for pickup and bypassing the unfortunate service.
google avatar

Marvin C.

Yelp
Great sushi, horrible service. I have been coming here for years because they have some of the best sushi in town. However it takes FOREVER! On a Thursday, I ordered some food for take out and it took over an hour for me to get it... I will be honest and say its not that bad when I dine in. But seriously every other sushi place in fargo gives 100% better service. But no many places are as good.
google avatar

Yelp
The only reason this hot downtown sushi spot isn't getting the full five stars is because their service is spotty and their food quality varies. I've had both really excellent experiences there and not so great ones. The sushi itself is usually pretty good (especially their specialty rolls) but the waits are long, especially in the evenings or on a weekend. Not only does it take a long time to be seated (seating is limited, and no one ever seems to be in much of a hurry to leave) but it can take a long time to get your food as well, if it's busy. I would recommend getting there 20-30 minutes before you're dying of hunger, otherwise you may die. Unfortunately, since the restaurant has become more popular, their food prep has slipped a little, and their rolls are not what they used to be. Also parking is on the street, which can suck when it's busy downtown. I recommend: The Corona roll, if they have it. It has lime on it, and it is delicious. Also check out the "2 Roll Deluxe" option under "Combinations". You can get one specialty roll and one regular roll for just $15.00! I'm also a pretty big fan of the seaweed salad, and the "Heart Attack" appetizer is pretty good if you're a fried food fan. I'd avoid: Any roll containing cream cheese- they go heavy on it, and it's all you can taste. Also don't order miso soup... if you order a roll, it will come with your meal, at least in the evening.

Yelp
Stopped into Wasabi for some sushi to go, which was probably best. They close at 9:00pm during the week and when the clock gets close to nine, they let you know. And when it was time to go, there was a little confusion and they also forget to tell us they were out of Albacore sashimi, even though they charged us for it. We were offered a replacement sashimi, which was good. The sushi itself was very good! I had the Red Dragon Roll, I love a little spice! It was well made and tasted delicious. The sashimi replacement, which was another type of tuna, was just as tasty, for those of us that love raw fish with nothing else. All-in-all it was a tasty experience, just a rushed one, which is really neither here nor there when it comes to sushi!
google avatar

Yelp
Carry-out order of Crunch Roll, spicy salmon, and miso soup. Crunch roll: for a roll with "crunch" as its name, it didn't have much crunch to it- it was a bit scarce and the way it was done didn't stick to the roll too well. Fish was fresh, but a bit too much rice for the fish as far as rice:fish ratio is concerned. Spicy salmon: Fresh fish but again, the rice:fish ratio was disappointing. The spicy sauce wasn't too spicy... Miso Soup: too salty! I think I would try their noodle bar that's attached to this restaurant. As far as sushi is concerned, I think not.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
The sushi is really good. It is... but I can get a similar quality of sushi in Cincinnati for half the price. Yes, I know this is Fargo, not Cincinnati... yes, I know sushi is traditionally expensive. It's just what would keep me from going back every single time I visit Fargo. I can spend my entire per diem easily in an hour at this place. The Dragon Roll and the Crunch Munch are delicious. Everything is very fresh and tasty. They give you Miso soup! Yum! So... if you have a little money to spend, this place is well worth it.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
The sushi is pretty good for Fargo ( although not my favorite), but the reason for the low rating is that wasabi/drunken noodle does not have call waiting and is continually on the phone or they leave it off the hook. Do not even attempt to order take out because you will have to endure half an hour of busy signals before you can even get through to place your order. This has happened to me on multiple occasions and I find it extremely unprofessional and ridiculous than an establishment doesn't have call waiting. As an after thought I would like to add that when I did pick up my order it was incorrect and they had in fact given me a completely different roll than I ordered. When I pointed out the mistake they said " well I guess we can fix it but you have to wait now." What kind of restaurant treats people like this ?! The more appropriate answer is " I'm sorry for the mistake we will fix it immediately ." My boyfriend and I are both professionals and we will no longer be dining at this establishment

Yelp
Carry-out Order - Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy California Roll, California Roll. I called and asked a simple question - is the Spicy Tuna Roll sweet at all? They were unable to answer that simple question. That was okay - maybe he was new. I placed my order and was told it would take 30-35 minutes. I was amazed at that time estimate but I waited - craving sushi. I got there and was asked to pay 16.39 for the three rolls. I was surprised because their online menu advertised the prices to be 5 - 4 - and 4 for the rolls. Those prices with tax would mean my lunch would cost just under 14 dollars. When I asked about the price difference, I was told that the company that printed their stylish menus went out of business. When they raised their prices, the company couldn't print new ones. So they simply kept the old ones with the wrong prices. I know this seems minor, but it is pretty crooked - especially for Fargo, ND.

Yelp
This is hands down the best sushi place in the FM area, it can't be beat. I eat here very often with my SO because it's the best quality and service. The staff is super friendly and the chefs are so talented it hurts. (In a good way!) The people that cut and prepare the sushi and rolls know how to get every detail down just perfectly. It's a small, cozy little place that I will continue to go back to and wish great success far into the future. A breakdown of the best, dreamiest stuff they have: - Fresh Oysters that are amazing. HOLY BUCKETS! These are great, impeccable. Super fresh and taste of the ocean water and landscape. They are also the most affordable ones in the area. Please don't ever take these off the menu :) The chef made a terrific homemade spicy fish sauce that he gives customers the option of adding to them. That is the greatest homemade spicy sauce ever. I am going to offer him money to buy a bottle of it! - Terrific Ceviche. I don't know about you, but I cannot find this dish anywhere else in the FM area that I'm aware of. This one is a original recipe featuring fresh and raw cucumbers, avocado, onions, cilantro, raw squid and fish in a lime juice mixture. This is the food of the gods, the chef that came up with this is amazing. I want to eat it every day. It comes served with homemade wonton crisps. - The traditional miso, squid salad, and seaweed salad is all made wonderfully and taste fresh each time they are ordered. The miso is a unique sweet combination that is not often the case at other Asian restaurants. All of the rolls we have tried including the Dakota, Heartbreak are very good. The Sashimi is cut properly (like most places mess up) and is very fresh. The super white tuna is crazy cray cray tasty. (The octopus sashimi was awesome - they give you a tentacle rolled up!!!) - Also super impressive, they have hot meals that include Miso Steak, Beef/Pork Bugulgi and others. The Miso ribeye was super tasty and was grilled. It was super tender! The bulgolgi was made spot on tradition with the spices and reminded me of the homemade version my friend's mother used to make! They offer some pretty killer hot dishes! Overall, the best establishment if you want to get anything sushi related or Asian inspired. Wasabi is the place!

Yelp
Sushi was not great. Mostly fusion rolls being offered. For 3 of us, we waited for over an hour to get our food on a Tuesday night. Not impressed. 3 stars is for the service and atmosphere.

Yelp
After hearing positive reviews from friends I was disappointed to have a less than stellar experience at Wasabi. The atmosphere was dank and it felt like I was dining in someone's unfinished basement. The wait staff was attentive but the kitchen took a long time to get our food out and it wasn't that busy. As for the food, the Miso soup was bland. Nobody at our table of 4 finished even half of theirs. I tried the Philadelphia roll, the Northern Pacific roll, and the Alaska roll. The Philadelphia roll tasted off. Not sure if it was the salmon or the cream cheese but I couldn't finish the roll. The Northern pacific roll was tasty. It looked nice on the plate and the spicy mayo was a highlight. The Alaska roll was also tasty but a bit difficult to eat as it fell apart easily. There's several choices for Sushi in the Fargo area now. After this experience, I would rate Wasabi near the bottom of the pack and I see no reason to rush back.

Yelp
The "new location" has a "commercialized" feel. It lost its unique atmosphere and friendly staff appeal. They now have a "poke bowl" fast food lane at the front of the restaurant that I'm sure is good for folks on the go. However, the manager walked by twice never saying hello or explaining there's a long wait. (Never experienced that attitude in the past) he twice made eye contact and his eyes said he was to busy for more people. There is a half assed reservation list, nothing online said we could make a reservation in advance. I finally invited myself to walk thru and look this new location over. I was saddened. The employees looked stressed and unhappy. The customers were a trendy nice crowd that seemed to be understanding of the stressful service environment and they were at least seated and getting some of the good food and service we've come to know. The new location has none of the old dark wood tables that were a staple and suited a sushi bar type restaurant very well. Now they have new fake looking wood tables. A wall of fancy liquor bottles that were placed by someone who does "interior design and flow". It looks nice, it still robbed the traditional appeal of the original location. They now have less seating, which is confusing, who gains a similar space and then has less seating....where they expecting less customers? All in all, we ended up leaving the third time the waitstaff and host noticed me and still didn't acknowledge me or the rest of our family. I'm not a snob. I have worked in the dining industry. I have very realistic expectations of restaurants and give opportunities to treat me the way all hungry customers wish to be treated....like we want to come in and enjoy your services, food and beverages. We left. I doubt we will return.

Yelp
This place is not bad. Sushi was fresh, well done. Service is good. Will come back. The locale is a little weird, you have to enter a noodle place to get to it. Once in it works. Had the Philadelphia roll and what they call the cherry blossom. Good. Portions are large

Yelp
Good price on sushi. I waited more then 10 minutes to be greeted and have a waitress take my drink order. It was pretty slow in there so it shouldn't have been a problem. I've had better sushi, but so far it is the best sushi I have found in Fargo.
