"Straightforward and very friendly, Shimizu is the Michael Cera of Midtown sushi. Probably never going to win an Oscar (though you never know!), but will star in a charming movie you’ll watch on airplane. Use this as a reasonably-priced option in Midtown West." - hillary reinsberg

Stayed at this hotel with my mother, aunt and cousin back in 2022 when attending my other cousin's graduation recital at Julliard. The room we stayed was good with nice beds and restrooms. The hotel has it set up that in order to use the elevator to go the floor where you room is at, you have to swipe your room key ensuring good safety. The hotel is a good walking distance away from Times Square. Overall, a good hotel with good service.

Stayed here for one night and arrived late so it was straight to bed and left first thing in the morning for my NCL cruise so i didn't really get to test the amenities. That said, the Washington Jefferson Hotel was more than sufficient in what i needed it for at a reasonable (by NYC rates) price. The hotel is also only 1.1 miles away from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal which is less than $20.00 for a taxi.

We enjoyed our stay here. Room was decently large for an NYC room. Had coffee and water in the lobby for free which was nice. Staff were all very friendly, and the location is great. Price was what I would expect for a stay in NYC. The only downside was that it was a pain to get a late check out, couldn't request in advance, had to call at a certain time in the evening, and we were already in bed at this point.

First time staying at this hotel, chosen for its availability (I booked shortly before arrival), location ⭐️, being a few short blocks from the theater I had tickets for, and it’s group, Triumph. The room was very small even for NY standards, no closets, just pegs on the wall, Queen size bed and bedding was very comfortable ⭐️ with two drawers in it’s frame. Two small metal night stands and one metal chair. Barely enough room for our two small carry on size bags left on the floor. It had a window that looked out to a courtyard and the walls surrounding it. The bathroom was a comfortable size and the room and bath were apparently recently renovated giving both a clean fresh look. It contained a Wall TV, phone, no clock, hairdryer, and the minimal bathroom supplies. K Coffee in the lobby although not until 7am. Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted our sheets changed daily and we felt that was not necessary although we did request fresh towels for our 3 night stay. No one entered the room so we ended up removing our own garbage and leaving a used pile of towels on the bathroom floor. Staff was friendly and accommodating ⭐️ There was some construction going on above us accounting for some noise, surely a temporary thing. This room, a Superior Queen is definitely for a minimalist.

Stayed 1 night in room 336 which was a Studio Queen. Room was extremely small but I was alone so it doable. The bathroom was lovely. Room had a closet, safe, and a fridge. Stayed 1 night in room 635, Deluxe Studio King and it was great. Bed was comfortable, had a desk, fridge and closet and more space. Bobby at the front desk was very helpful in allowing me to check in early since my room was ready. There is a gym on the main floor with the bare essentials. Just a treadmill, elliptical, bench, and some free weights but I was still able to squeeze in a nice workout on both days. Location was fantastic. Close the subway, lots of food around, and not too far of a trek to the entrance of central park. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.

The hotel had a great location and very helpful staff. The actual hotel was mediocre. Our room was very small, barely enough room to open our luggage. The washroom was also very small. We stayed here because everything was very expensive, but in the future I would spend more and stay elsewhere. Unless they revamp all their rooms, they felt dingy and old.

We loved the location of the hotel and will probably stay again on our next visit. If you are going to a show it is in an excellent location. It fit our needs perfectly as there was also a mini fridge, air conditioner, tv and small desk. When we stay at hotels in nyc we typically only use the room for sleeping as we are out all day enjoying the city and tend to go to a show at night. So for us it was perfect for a 2 night stay. The staff is very friendly and they provide water bottles upon arrival. The bed was comfortable and the room was nicely air conditioned. There was a window for natural light which was nice. We also asked for extra soap and towels and the front desk was happy to provide. Just a couple recommendations to make the room A+. The bathroom probably needed some attention as the sink and tub did not drain well and the door did not close shut. Also we tried to book the room through the hotel website versus a 3rd party but it was really difficult to figure out so we ended up going with a 3rd party app. Overall a great option for a couple. It has a great location for shows and tourist activities, friendly staff and a comfortable room. We would book again when we come to the city for a show.

After being relocated here when our original hotel was no longer available, it is safe to say we were disappointed. The room was the size of a cupboard, the yellow walls had mould and holes in them. The carpet was old and dingy and felt very dirty. The bed wasn’t even on a bed frame, just a slab of cardboard. There was no room for our suitcase at all, with no room to hang any clothes so we had to store the suitcase under the bed. Dirty yellow bathroom tiles, with lots of dead flies on the ceiling above the shower. Hair all over the bathroom from previous guests. Hairdryer was temperamental . Our room view was of a brick wall. Walls were paper thin and could hear next door’s conversation. The guy who checked us in at night was great, but the staff for the rest of the stay were rude and miserable. We were booked in for 6 nights and had to leave after 3 as we couldn’t stand it much longer. Still got charged a facility fee by the hotel for the full 6 nights despite informing them of our early departure. From the looks of other reviews, we were probably put in the worst room. No fridge, wardrobe, space to even walk, and the most outdated room I’ve ever stayed in. The photos on booking.com are nothing like the room we were in, and they clearly only show the newly renovated rooms on there. For our first time in NY, it definitely put a dampener on the experience and I would definitely say to avoid this hotel at all costs. I’ve never left negative feedback before but this hotel was beyond a joke! The pictures on booking.com are nothing like the room we were in, and they clearly only show the newly renovated rooms on there. Didn’t get a photo of the room but got one of the flies above the shower.

Yelp
Not the worst stay. Lobby staff is friendly. Room was compact, standard for NY. The walls are pretty thin I suppose. I kept hearing the attendees above me stomping and creaking the bed and staff talking in the hallways both mornings I stayed between 9-10am -- just wanted to sleep in... Both card keys failed after returning my second evening. The blanket felt like using newspaper (maybe that's just me). What had me confused was the shower... half glass screen, which practically did nothing to keep water in the shower... It was decent for a last minute booking within budget

Kurstin H.

Yelp
The bedroom photos are NOTHING like what it actually is. This room is probably 12 ft x 8ft in size. The bed is as hard as a concrete slab, and the shower is so old I don't even want to stand in it. There are 3 lamps in my room (because there is no overhead lighting), one of which is missing it's on/off knob, so I have to unplug it from the wall to shut it off. My window over looks an atrium filled with garbage and 3 brick walls. As soon as I left the front desk after checking in and walked towards my room, I immediately knew that this was going to be awful. The hall ways are about 4ft wide, and good luck with the rinky-dink elevator. Jokingly I told my friends that I felt like I was Harry Potter, because of the room size, quality and bed. This is ridiculous. Seriously. W T F.

Yelp
This made it seem like it was a 8/10 for a cheap price; but boy do you get cheap. Check in was easy and the staff was nice. This hotel is very outdated, a elevator that only holds two (hope you have small luggage). The bed was terrible, you could feel the springs. Outdated old TV. The shower pressure was next to nothing, couldn't get my thick hair wet. However water got hot. Cobwebs in the bathroom window, proving cleaning crew does very little. No fridge in room, can't keep leftovers or drinks. The pillows were terrible, some as thin as bed sheets. Will not stay here again. No breakfast and just Keurig coffee and tea available in morning. Good location.

Yelp
I was pretty satisfied with my stay at this hotel. The room was small but cozy. Whenever I did rest up for the day, I felt comfortable. As someone who visited New York for travel and entertainment the placement of the hotel was extremely convenient. Times Square was about ten minutes away. Not to mention the drug store that was in close distance and the train station as well. Service was great, polite and professional. Many times whenever I asked for assistance they would always accommodate me. My only qualm was when I first got my key card I wasn't able to go in my assigned room. Went back down to the lobby told them my card wouldn't work and they gave me a new key card to a new room. They were apologetic about it. I'd definitely recommend a friend to go to this hotel if ever they do decide on staying in New York!

Yelp
This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had in my life and it occurred in my own city. This was a last minute decision to book a hotel room. We booked on booking.com at another hotel, the Hilton, and for some strange reason the front desk could not pull up my reservation. Booking.com took the payment but their customer service was lacking. They redirected us to this hotel. As soon as we arrived I knew we should not have stayed here. There were 3 men smoking marijuana on the steps. I've never seen a respectable hotel allow patrons to loiter much less smoke anything while sitting on the hotel steps. This was strike 1. The patrons entering and exiting the building looked very shady. We received the keys to our room and things kept going on a decline. The elevator had padding around it as if someone were moving. The hallways and rooms were designed like a dormitory. When we opened the room door I wanted to fly down the steps and leave. It was a full bed that did not look inviting. There was mold on the wall. The shower was over flowing. The toilet did not properly flush. The air from the ductless a/c smelled moldy and was dripping. This was more of a halfway house than a hotel and needs to not be listed as a hotel. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life. I called booking.com and they would not refund my money. Not to mention, this room cost a whopping $200 for one night. This place is a rat trap. I advise you to run and never look back, don't stop at go, just keep running. A star is given because of Yelp policy but this place is more of a double dare challenge. If you have to ask if I would come back. The answer is HELL NO!!!! Don't say I didn't warn you.

Sara M.

Yelp
I really liked the price and how close this is to Times Square. It was such a close walk to everything! Also my room, while very small, had its own bathroom and was big enough for my husband and me to walk around the bed. We are average sized people. The heater near the ceiling in our room was broken. It was about 81 degrees in our room in December. Thankfully the windows opened and we got cool air in. We alerted the front desk and it was fixed. The bed and sheets were clean and I would stay here again.

Ian A.

Yelp
Had a great stay here. I was here for a conference and needed a few things printed and the receptionist, Diamond, helped me print a few things.

Arlene R.

Yelp
We stay here for 1 week. Location was perfect, central to everything. The staff was amazing, anything we needed, they provided. I really can not say enough about them!!!! Excellent customer service!!!. Food & dinning was right across the street. If you want Sushi, right next store. If you want Italian, across the street. (Mia Pia) If you wanted to watch a game, (Brew House) Pizza, right around the corner! (Don Antino:s). Time Square, block away! Every Central. Only one slight drawback, room are not large, but you just need to know that as a couple and deal with it. I thought it was cozy! We will be back.

Joseph C.

Yelp
Hole in carpet, toilet clogged after 1 flush (should not have at all) extremely old blinds, elevator extremely small and makes it feel like you are in a horror movie, outlet in room did not work. The lobby was actually nice but very misleading on the quality of the rest of the hotel. Just did not feel comfortable at all and left after an hour did not stay the night. Spend the extra few dollars for a chain hotel.

Nicki Z.

Yelp
I have no idea how this hotel gets 3 stars. I've been to NYC 6-12 times a year over the past decade, and this is a 1-2 star hotel at the very best. That said, the staff is amazing. Kind and accommodating. They try. I'll start off with a positive. But talk and service only gets you so far. The lobby looks decent. You think it will continue, that this place is pretty good, but then you hit the elevator, and you realize quickly that something is wrong. Elevator is tiny and smells like moth balls. And then opens to a big heavy door on each floor. The rooms are scary. These photos look nothing like the room I was put in. Dingy (no overhead light, just two lamps), loud/unpleasant noise level, no decorative items (no black and white motif in my room), and the window opened to the wall of another building. There was also no temperature control in the room. I asked to be moved, thinking it might just be my room, but no, it was only incrementally better. The next day I saw a man (a guest) pleasuring himself in the hallway by the elevator. I immediately checked out and went elsewhere. I've always been cheap about hotel rooms, but this experience was scary enough where I am going to upgrade to four-star listings and above only. I honestly wish the staff the best, as they truly were great, but the owners have to do something about the guest rooms and the elevator. This place is terrible and awful, and only the staff and lobby are its saving graces.

Yelp
Hell's Kitchen budget hotel located on 51st btw 8th & 9th. Comfy beds, nice bathrooms, in room climate control, in room in theatre movies. 24 Hr fitness center on quite street. Hotel entrance is average with small sitting area. No mini bar or hotel resteraunt. If you can book cheap through hotels tonight or other websites perfect for business.

Yelp
I was very pleased that my son suggested I stay at this hotel during my visit in March and April. The location was ideal for me! Close to my son, the subway, and lots of wonderful restaurants! The room was on the smaller size, but it met my needs, very clean, and the staff was also eager to provide suggestions that saved me money, they quickly respond to my requests for cups & an extra blanket. Comfortable bed :) Dobrine at the front desk was always friendly and I enjoyed talking with her daily. The price was very reasonable also! I would definitely stay here again.

Joshua S.

Yelp
A friend and I stayed here for 5 nights and we had a great time. The lobby was nice and inviting, the staff were super friendly and professional. The room we stayed in was small but comfortable. The bathroom looked really modern and was clean. The only down side was there was pretty much no shelf space which made it tricky to get ready in the morning. In terms of location we thought the location was perfect! Very central to all the activities we wanted to do. It's about 3 or 4 blocks to Times Square, 8 or 9 blocks to Central Park, very easy access to the major subway lines, just a really great location. Walking around the area we felt safe the entire time. Overall, a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend.

Dawn Z.

Yelp
We found this hotel for a great price online. The reviews seemed good. We flew into Newark and it was easy enough to take the train to Penn Station then the subway. The subway stop is close to the hotel. The staff was quite friendly, welcoming and helpful. The lobby is clean and comfortable. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which including a small seating area. The room definitely needed updating. The carpet was a little dingy with a few stains. Half of the mattress was saggy. The upholstered chairs looked a little worn and dirty. The table in between them was rickety. However, the bathroom was spacious and clean. Towels were nice quality. Overall, a mixed review but the staff made the stay more enjoyable.

Yelp
I've stayed at the Washington Jefferson during my last three visits to New York City. It's in a great location near Hell's Kitchen, but still close enough to the Theatre District and Central Park. If you want to stay in Midtown, but prefer to avoid the craziness and tourist-heavy Times Square, consider staying here. During my first stay at the hotel, I booked the petite room...and it is just that. It's a twin-size bed up against a wall, with a few feet of space around it, a desk with a chair, a closet, and a tiny bathroom with a shower stall. Hotel rooms in New York City are generally small, but the petite room here is definitely the smallest room I've ever stayed in. If you're on a tight budget, this is a good choice. But it's suitable for only one person. But really, when you're visiting NYC, there's so much to do, you're likely not going to be hanging out in your room for very long anyway. I've also stayed in a deluxe room, which was bigger with two queen-size beds, but the bathroom was still really small with only a shower stall. On my most recent visit to this hotel this month, I booked a standard room. Surprisingly, this was the most spacious room I've stayed in at the WJ. It had a small sitting area with two chairs, side table and a flat-screen TV. The main bedroom area had a queen-size bed, a chair in the corner, a desk and chair, and another flat-screen TV. The bathroom actually had a full tub with jet action. I didn't take advantage of the tub by taking a bubble bath, but it was nice having the option to do that. The staff at this hotel is very friendly. I've never had any problems with early check-in. They always hold my bags for me until my room is ready. And when you're ready to head out to the airport, they'll gladly call car service for you. I personally have never ordered car service (it's way too expensive), because I always take the subway out to JFK International via the AirTrain. The subway station for the C & E trains is just one block away on 50th Street. While the rooms are modern, updated and very clean, they do seem to let in quite a bit of noise. Even though the hotel is on a relatively quiet street away from the loudness of Times Square, I've experienced some street noise coming from neighbors taking out trash bins. I could also hear people talking from outside the window -- and even from the rooms next door. It all depends on where your room is located, I suppose. Because I haven't had a noise issue during ALL of my stays here, just some. I love traveling to New York City to see Broadway shows, and the WJ is in an excellent location for that. Just walking a few blocks southeast, and you're in the Theatre District and Times Square. If you walk several blocks north, you'll find yourself in the Upper West Side, which has a lot of great places to eat and shop. Or you can stroll down 9th Avenue through Hell's Kitchen to get a taste of the local food. Sometimes it's nice to stay in a boutique hotel like this instead of the large chain hotels like Sheraton, Marriott or Hilton. If you can book a good Internet deal for a stay here, do it!

Karlie R.

Yelp
Stayed here for only one night because it was decently priced. Place was very clean and staff was friendly. The only complaint I had was the shower set up, the way the flooring was only had draining on one side and was all flat. This led to flooding of the bathroom pretty easily as the water had no where to drain properly. The bathroom door also did not stay shut at all. However, not a big issue and would be willing to stay here again!

Alex C.

Yelp
This review is all about staff everyone was super nice and helpful and this should be a standard in hotels but always the case so for this particular stay I'm grateful. The room was immediately cleaned and cozy. Definitely a New York hotel because the room was super smaller I was extremely impressed by a young lady by the name of Kay who was not only super helpful with suggestions and taking care of my luggage on the day I checked out so I can walk around and explore but she treated each and every customer the same way! Hats off to jay and the entire team here for making my stay incredible!

Scott D.

Yelp
This is an older hotel. It is clean and the staff are very nice. The rooms are very small even for New York City standards. The elevator is small and very old. No complaints except for the room being small. The building is well maintained. It is in a good location in the theater district. It is close to a lot of restaurants.

Kelly O.

Yelp
This hotel is not one that makes me want to RAVE and write a thrilling review, but it is also one that is worth a return, depending on what you are looking for in NYC. We were here for a conference at the Hilton NYC and our company booked the hotels too late so the Hilton was sold out. That said, we wanted something reasonably close and this fit the bill. I had read the reviews and was ready for nothing extravagant- but let's be real, when you are in town for a conference, you aren't spending a lot of time in your hotel room. It is there for showering and crashing at the end of a long day. The rooms are exactly as others have described. VERY small and cramped but honestly, I've experienced this at other "posh" hotels in NYC (I think the Roosevelt was one of them? $350/night for a shoebox). Each room has individual AC units that ARE indeed very loud, in fact mine sounded like a running sink and there was water on the sill this morning. Deal breaker? probably not. They have iPod docking stations and flat screen TVs with a good cable selection. There is no room service but a 24-hour diner around the corner (Cosmic Diner) delivers. There is a great sushi restaurant in the building, although it only serves dinner. We ate there and it was DIVINE- far better than the sushi at Nobu (see my review for that explanation). The elevator is WEIRD. It has a regular door and only can hold maybe 2-3 people. Very slow. I added in some leg-exercise and took the stairs a lot. To the 6th floor no less! The hotel being on a side street does keep it quiet and you feel like you are tucked away- close to EVERYTHING- in walking distance to Central Park and Times Square, yadda yadda yadda. The front desk service and bellman were very polite, friendly and attentive. Housekeeping forgot my shampoo each day after check-in but other than that, great. If you are a business person traveling, note, you won't be able to really do work in your room, unless you don't mind sitting on the bed w/your l laptop on your lap. Not a lot of electrical plugs and warning - the free wi-fi is truly like non-existent and slower than dial-up. If I was coming to NYC for "personal" I'd stay here again. I don't know the rate we got, because our corporate travel booked this but I hear on TripAdvisor that the rates are great. I'd even stay here on business again- yea, I miss having the little things like a big room (where I can workout in the room, use a big desk) and the water bottles in the room and room service when you need a quick breakfast before a meeting, but overall, this location and service are agreeable.

Ava D.

Yelp
Stayed for 6 nights - Great location, 10 min walk to Times Square and there are many places to eat and drink right outside the hotel. The room itself was decent, other reviews had me a little bit nervous however we must have booked a better room. Plenty of space to move around and the bathroom was huge. Couple of down sides - no fridge, the view outside the window is into a little courtyard and you can see into other peoples rooms. When taking a shower the whole bathroom would fog up really badly like there's no ventilation, the tiles would become all slimy from the moisture (even with the window kept open). I didn't see any bed bugs, but I have woken up with new bites all over me each morning, so unsure if this is related but I'm still skeptical..... the elevator is a bit shonky and sometimes doesn't respond when you press the button (or is really slow to come to your floor) , so be prepared to take the stairs every once in a while. Other than that the room was fairly decent and we would stay again.

Alec G.

Yelp
Unreasonable! Flight cancelled and was unable to make it to the city. Booked earlier the same day and called to cancel immediately from the plane as it returned to gate to give them notice. They refused to make any accommodation at all. Not even a credit for future stay. Next time I will book a more reputable hotel that understands what hospitality means. For contrast, my return airline had a policy of $150 cancellation fee within 7 days but waived it without even having me ask. Suffice it to say I will continue to be a very loyal Jetblue customer and sing their praises versus sharing what an unreasonable place the Washington Jefferson at Times Square is. For those who are looking to stay here be sure to read the other reviews about how small and outdated the rooms are and how the pictures misrepresent the actual rooms.

Darlene W.

Yelp
Honestly, this was the smallest hotel room that I have ever stayed in. All and all it didn't matter because it was all I needed to be comfortable for my visit to NYC. I slept very well. Our room was clean. The staff was very friendly. I felt safe in the neighborhood day and night. Very close and within walking distance to Time Square, restaurants, central park and stops for the Hop On Hop off tour bus. I will stay there again when visiting NYC.

Angella S.

Yelp
This place is a sh*thole to me, but if you're desperate on a super budget like I was, then by all means, go for it. Honestly, I suppose I could recommend this place but for the price, and I guess you get what you pay for. I wanted to finish my NYC reviews before I head back, and I couldn't this one slip through the cracks. I got this place on Priceline for $100 / night back in September. Neighborhood-wise, it's in a good spot. You're in the theatre district, just off of a main street and near the subway. The lobby area is decent, then it's all downhill from there. When you get upstairs, it's like a hostel or something. You'll see shared bathrooms, shared "dorm" rooms, and then when you get up to your room, it's so freaking small you can barely move. I mean, you'll have the bare minimum amenities like a TV, phone and bathroom. And yes, fine, it's clean ENOUGH. But let's just say that I would have expected a cockroach to come out of bathroom if I had turned the lights off - WHICH I DIDN'T DO. What else...I opened my window to a depressing view of the back of another building. Then to top it off with service - WHAT SERVICE? If you don't leave your room at the minute of check-out, they will be calling you. Maybe I was having a bad night...but that pissed me off like crazy. Let's just say I had a moment with the people at the front desk.... At the end of the day - would I stay here again for $100/night? YES. WOULD I WANT TO? NO.

Vigen A.

Yelp
Horrible hotel! Pillow sheets had lipstick stains. Good thing I brought my own sheets. Room keycard works 1 out of 5 attempts. I asked the lobby woman if they had any coffee, she replied "you can buy it from Starbucks". Like seriously? That's not what I asked you. They had no water for guests. Only in their fitness center. Fitness center was a joke as well. Location is good tho. Close to subway and Times Square. 1.5 stars...

Josh W.

Yelp
The only reason this was given a 2 star and not a no star is the housekeeping on the room! The hotel pictures are so deceiving! Our cold water in the bathroom sink did NOT work and when we told the front desk we was told ok they would look into it and still 9 days later the day we checked out still no cold water in the bathroom sink! If you want to take a shower and get out of the shower and dry off think again! You will have to go into the room out of the bathroom bc it is so small! I do believe my closet is larger than the room and bathroom combined! Again though it was great service from the cleaning crew! They made sure the room always had fresh towels and the bed was made with trash taken out! Stay somewhere else!!!!!! I will not be back to this location!

Elaine T.

Yelp
When I'm researching vacation spots for possible hotels, I like reviews that are short and quick to read. So I'll save the stories and adventures for other fun spots. PROS: -clean, neat, and tidy rooms -windows open up for tons of fresh air -great location: walk to theater district + times square + hell's kitchen restaurants -fairly priced for location and peak season (spring/summer) -one block from rite-aid (stock up on water, snacks) -free wi-fi (yay!) CONS: -tiny rooms (and I do mean tiny, even by NY standards) -old window shades don't work well, don't expect to block out much light -bathrooms are impossibly small (shower stall = half the space) -noisy, walls are thin, expect typical city noise at all hours -noise level heightened further by air conditioner unit -thin, unfluffy duvet and pillows (don't expect a Heavenly bed, folks)

Gabi M.

Yelp
A nice, modern hotel in between the Theater district & Hell's Kitchen. The rooms were small, even by NY standards, but it was clean and updated, and on a quieter side street with a bit of neighborhood feel. Comfy bed with down comforter, slate tile bathroom, desk, free internet access, and a rose on my nightstand. Don't try squeezing more than 2 in a room though. The staff was very nice, and my room near the center was quiet, but some friends near the street said it was loud.

Yelp
I needed a hotel to stay in NYC for a night and found this hotel on hotels.com. It's not the most fancy hotel, but it was clean and the staff was friendly. It was also convenient to public transportation. I only have two complaints. #1 one of the plugs was loose - or the holes in the socket was loose or too big, so my phone charger kept sliding out of it. And #2 it took 30 minutes for the shower to warm up, and I was so sleepy! I never thought it would warm up but I kept feeling like it was getting a little warmer each time I checked, so I kept going. Like the other reviews say, the room and bathroom were really small. But they were functional for sure!

Yelp
Terrible New York experience. When I got there at 3:30pm, my room wasn't ready (check in time is at 3pm) so I waited in the lobby for over an hour before it was cleaned. When I got to the room I found out that not only was it so small that the bathroom door only opened halfway, but the TV didn't work. Certainly not worth the hefty price tag. Also, there were bugs in my room and they charged my credit card $100 after I left for no reason, had to call and get it removed. The experience was so bad that I don't even want to stay anywhere in Midtown Manhattan again.

Yelp
I went to NY only 2 times in my whole life. Twice in this hotel, wanna know why ? Because it's very close to everything you wanna see in NY : - Times Square - Central Park - The Madison Square Garden - Subways - Banks - Restaurants People at the reception are very nice, and they always try to help you whatever you need. If you need a shuttle, they'll call for you. If you need to hide a body maybe they'll do it too. If you read this, it's the french couple that looked so familiar to you when we came back and that was wondering if there was a tour for the MSG.

Yelp
This was an adequate hotel. The rooms are small, as mentioned, but were clean. The elevator is super small and unreliable. On our first day there, it broke when we were trying to get our luggage upstairs. However, the staff were very apologetic and brought our luggage upstairs. The pillows and bed were very hard. The worst aspect of the room was the A/C situation. Our room faced 51st and the window couldn't be closed because of the window A/C unit. It was loud all night long. We could barely sleep as there is a lot of action on the street in the middle of the night. We tried earplugs and every other noise canceling thing we could find, but it was still loud. Sounded like they were doing construction some nights and it was difficult to sleep. Otherwise, it was fine for the location and the price. If your room isn't on the street (or you come during winter), it's probably fine.

Yelp
Booked it at the last minute and got a great upgrade for free to two queen beds from one twin. The room was huge and the bathroom was nice and clean (although the TP roller was so close to the toilet you couldn't turn it without it hitting your leg). My one complaint was that there was no thermostat in the room, so even though we were in the middle of a blizzard I had to sleep with the windows open (and was still warmer than I would have liked). It is centrally located to everything and there is a great restaurant next door that stayed open during the storm. I also got a late check out time with no problem. I will definitely be staying here again.

Yelp
do not stay here!!! i booked thru travelocity for a trip for 5 days, and picked this one because the pricing was cheap for nyc. the location is very convenient to everything and the staff was pretty nice. however, when you first check in, you walk around the corner and what looks like a small closet was actually the elevator and it always smells like moth balls. i thought it was just the elevator that would be bad, but no. the rooms are so small, none of the outlets work, the blinds are so old, the bathroom door would not shut all the way unless you used your whole body to push it. i got a room on the 5th floor and when we were exiting the elevator at first i thought we were trapped or something because or the heavy door outside the elevator. before writing this review i was looking at other reviews and saw that they had homeless people/ drug dealers staying here as well about a year ago, dont know if theyre still doing it now but thats very unsettling. pay the extra hundred dollars and go to a higher rating hotel. ALSO the younger guy at the front desk was trying to get me and my friends to go hang out w him at a bar saying he can get us a table. wth??

Yelp
If given the option I don't think we would stay here again. Great location and the hotel staff were friendly other than that we found the hotel to be very snug, smelly. We found our deal through hotwire and it was still spendy I think here you pay for the location.

Yelp
Great location, great staff, but the room was noisy and you could see/hear through the vent in the bathroom into the bathroom next door.

Yelp
Room: The room was clean and contemporary. We had a Deluxe room and it wasn't huge, but it wasn't too tiny either. I think it was a decent size (especially because we didn't spend much time in our room). One draw back was the tiny bathroom. Only one person fits in there at a time and the sink was so small that you end up wetting your feet when you wash your face. The other negative was the noise. Our room faced the street and I had a hard time sleeping most nights. Location: This hotel is in the PERFECT location! 5min walk to Times square, 8 blocks from Central Park, and only one block from the subway station. We took the subway all over manhattan and even to the airport. It saved us soo much money on transportation. Service: The service was amazing. The concierge was very knowledgeable and accommodating. They helped us navigate the subways and even gave us tips and menus on great pizza that delivered to our hotel. For the price, service and location, I would definitely recommend staying here.

Yelp
Room wasn't very clean, the washrooms were extremely small, and the heater was constantly on with no method of turning it off. If you needed to cool down the room, you had to turn on the AC to counter the heater and the AC is extremely loud. The hotel staff are kind and friendly though. However, I don't feel like I would come back for a second stay.

Yelp
Having seen the reviews for this place I must say that the place is overrated. The good: clean rooms, great location near times square and the theatre district. The price was good. The bad: the rooms are overly small. It is saying something when the cruise ship inside cabin is larger than the room provided. The size of the room is a queen size bed plus 2 feet on each side. The service was not great. I had previously stayed at the doubleteree and service was excellent. It seems that the hotel is so focused on making money. I had to wait 20 minutes when checking in for a bellman for the bags. The front desk tried to bait and switch me on the room. The restaurant that is connected to the hotel is a Japanese sushi place. So You have no chance of getting a coffee. The noise from from the streets is very significant. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. Also every move on one bed was loud enough to wake up the persons on the other bed. No room service. No business center.

Yelp
My review is super late but I had a really stay here with my sister. The rooms are tiny, but come on, it's New York! The staff were extremely friendly and super helpful to direct you for the right trains and directions. It's very conveniently located near time square without the time square prices. There's also a convenient store located on the kitty corner so it's convenient to grab water or snacks in the morning or night. I'm not sure if they still offer it, but they have a 3rd party shuttle bus that will take you to the Woodbury common outlets that's about 45 mins away. Super convenient and I highly recommend it!

Yelp
The good: - Trendy location near many restaurants, bars and parks - Inviting lobby and updated decor - Reasonable price The bad: - Poor customer service (I called to request two beds rather than one and rather than checking to see if such a room was available, the person on the phone said he'd "look into it, but it's not guaranteed." When I arrived and found just one bed, the front desk had no record of my request.) - Noisy area (Beware: Thursday morning is recycling pickup -- expect to awake around 4 a.m. to the sound of the truck's crusher) - Tiniest hotel room and bathroom I have ever seen (I should add I've stayed in about 10 different NYC hotels)

Yelp
I wouldn't even stay here for free. Very small room and a very tiny bathroom. Not made for big people. I'm a small 5'8 guy and couldn't even fit in the bathroom. Not recommended.

Yelp
Very, very happy with this hotel! We ended up here as a bit of an accident as we had been staying at the Hilton on Avenue of Americas and had planned to spend the Saturday night with friends. That fell through and he Hilton was booked up and we had to find alternate arrangements with about an hour's notice. We stumbled across the W-J through hotels.com when it was the only other hotel we could find in Manhattan with a vacancy (for less than $1000/night). We didn't know what we were getting into, but we are frankly ecstatic to have found this place. The room is very nice and well outfitted (usual amenities, iPod dock, flatscreen, nice fixtures) and is actually larger than the one at the Hilton we just vacated. We need to fly out of Teeterboro tomorrow and the front desk staff was happy to make several calls on our behalf to arrange for transportation, even going so far as to price shop for us. The street is quiet (in a good way) but has 5-7 nice restaurants and is steps away from the theater district. We will definitely stay here again in the future. We feel like we found a hidden gem.

Yelp
Completely terrible hotel. There is absolutely nothing modern about this place. The hallways are tiny and dirty. I was there for a work trip and the room was super tiny, the walls in the room were filthy. I changed hotels after that one night only because I couldn't get a refund. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! Total rip off!

Yelp
SERVICE: This place has great service The people are really friendly and helpful. ROOMS: I live in California and was just a tourist and the rooms for me were way small. But the hotel rooms in NYC I heard are fairly small anyway. Event he bathroom was small but it was very nice and updated. But I wasn't used to how small the rooms were it made me feel a bit claustrophobic, but after a day or two you get used to it. LOCATION: The location of this hotel is great. its just a few blocks away from times square. its in a good area so its not dangerous or scary. there are cafes across the street. AMENITIES: it has a sushi bar. But ITS NYC so you are more likely to go explore the city than stay indoors PARKING: Parking is really expensive if you have a car youhave to park at the parking garage across the street. so plan accordingly

Yelp
One of the best hotels I've been to. Here's a link to my opinion: https://youtu.be/5bz1iDBFinM

Yelp
When for a night last night and it went well. The rooms are cute and tiny but look very clean. The staff was very friendly. Overall it was a good place to stay, not a fan of the elevators though, but I would go back.

Yelp
This place sucks, the staff is ignorant and the rooms are tiny. I was nervous about bed bugs too. The receptionist was making fun of my outfit when I walked in late at night

Daisy Z.

Yelp
This is the most affordable hotel near Times Square. The lobby is beautiful and the staff is really friendly. I was very disappointed when I entered the room since it was very small (Standard Two Twin Beds). The beds were one foot apart. The bedroom photos look nothing like the actual room in terms of size, I felt scammed. The bed is really hard and the bathroom is really small. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this hotel unless you are on a budget and want a basic hotel. I should have gone somewhere else or have gotten a more pricer room.

Yelp
I went to New York on my own in February! This hotel is a dream, not so close to the main square that the noise keeps you awake but literally a 5 minute walk from the Mcdonalds in Time Square. It is near the subway, the staff were amazing and the room was comfortable with free Wifi that was fast even on my uk computer! I would reccomend 1000% this hotel to anybody going to New York!
