The 15 Essential Regional Foods of the Pacific Northwest | Eater

"The Puyallup state fair where 'Fisher scones'—soft, pillowy scones served with honey butter and raspberry jam—are a longstanding fair-food institution, reflecting a century-plus tradition and the dominance of a regional flour brand at state fairs." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Event venue is great. Expansive spaces with good amenities. Went here for the North West food festival. Boy oh boy, the variety of foods was amazing. Music performance was great against a big stage set up. Vendors were busy...drinks and food flowing 😋. Overall, great event venue.

We visited the Puyallup Fair on Easter Sunday, which happened to be the last day of the event, and I was pleasantly surprised by how uncrowded it was. There were absolutely no lines for the rides, making the experience incredibly smooth and enjoyable. We even got to use ticket cards from five years ago, which worked perfectly, and some rides were so empty that we rode them twice without even getting off! The food was delicious, though on the pricier side—fair food always seems to come with a premium, but at least the quality was good. The games were another highlight, especially for the kids. Each time they played, they won a prize, and the attendants were kind enough to ensure that both kids went home with something—even if only one initially won. That thoughtful touch made the experience extra memorable. The only downside was purchasing monster truck ride tickets online just before the fair closed. The will-call counter inside the fair was closed, so I had to exit, go around to another area to retrieve the tickets, and deal with printer issues. By the time I reentered the fair, the gates for the ride had closed, and the website stated no refunds. I lost $30, and my son was disappointed, which put a damper on the evening. Overall, though, the rest of the fair was a lot of fun and made for a memorable day. If you're considering a visit, I’d recommend going on a less busy day (or at the very end like we did)—just be cautious with last-minute purchases

Attended the Good Guys car show sponsored by Griots Garage this weekend at the Washington State fairgrounds. It's not really fair to rate the fairgrounds at this point in time due to tons of construction occurring, making navigating the grounds difficult. You can see that the improvements, when complete, will make this one of the best fairgrounds in the PNW. The car show, however, was still really good. So many cars, talent and imagination on display. Can't wait till next years show.

Our family had fun. Expensive as always but some of the food was amazing. The pony ride was fun for the little. The games are a little redundant. Won tones of prizes, they even gave out extras. Lines for rides were so long we could not spend all the tickets we bought before close even though we were there for nearly 8 hours. We gave them away.

Fairgrounds were easy to find, parking was plentiful. I went for an RV Show and found both the truck and fifth-wheel of my dreams. The venue was large and strategically located places to sit and rest. There were also plenty of food and beverage vendors so that there was not much wait time for either. Driving, parking, access and plenty to look at could not have been easier.

Worked at "The World's Largest Bouncey House" over the weekend this July, for adults & kiddos! Go check it out you'll love it! They will be here this coming weekend too on July 19th & 20th, bring a refillable water thermos & I recommend easy off flip-flops/ sandals with socks for quickness to enter jumpy houses See ya there!

Attended a graduation on june 8th, 2025, I wish there were restrooms or pota pottys for waiting guests outside of the Argaplex green gate. The building was clean. There was plenty of room for guests. Ventilation and Ac were awesome. I would attend another event and recommend it to others .

Google
Good stuff to try and eat. Some of the "Taste" options for $5 were underwhelming or not a good sample for the business, but generally good stuff. Expensive as all get out, but that is what is to be expected. Go, have fun, don't spend too much.

Yelp
What can I say? I'm not a WA native so it was my first time coming to the fair. My friends, who are natives gave me the history of the fair and told me about the controversy with the name. They affectionately call it the Puyallup Fair and refuse to call it the WA State Fair. While there I mentally compared it to the LA county fair and there were some big differences. I will say that I appreciated the pride that folks had about the fair overall and the scones. I didn't understand what the big deal was about them until I had one and boy were they amazing! The grounds were a good size and we weren't able to see everything, but I was ok with that, as I was getting tired of walking. What could be better? Well of course the prices. Everything was expensive and most of the stuff wasn't worth what the vendors were charging. My favorite was the fried zucchini. Those were scrumptious. I would say that the fair burger was disappointing. The ingredients sounded good, but the execution was poor. There was no flavor as the beef and grilled onions desperately needed salt. Great to bring the kids, but I doubt I'll want to go back again. I didn't hate it. It's just that I got to experience it, and don't feel the need to do so again. It was a great time the day I went.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to be invited to sit in box 43 of Umpqua Bank Grandstand at the Puyallup Fair. We were gifted 4 tics & 2 worked & 2 were issued incorrectly by the box office. Nick who was over the box office was not really paying attention & delayed our process to get to our seats for an extended period of time and Kathy who at ticketing really was nice & held firm on not allowing us entry to the box due to the clerical ticket issue. I was pretty annoyed at how something so easy to fix became this drawn out issue that took 30 seconds to fix. Once you get to your box you're able to flag down a server and order but they have to verify your tics & seats which Nick didn't print out to give us. We were eventually able to order but geez...what an interesting night. It was nice to be in the box & not shoulder to shoulder though so that was appreciated. Overall, the performance was amazing & the vibe was there once we got to our seats.

Yelp
The question yelp asked me is "what could we improve?" How about everything. Yes, spending more is a given, this is not about an $18 drink. It's about the rude bartender who seemed bother that we wanted a drink... sorry we interrupted you standing there. It's about not having napkins, basic need, right? And going to one of the food choices to get napkins like she suggested is not a good answer. Tips are based on quality of service, asking for a tip before service is her strategy because she knew she would not get a tip. I am just frustrated, I don't think it's too much to have your experience go hand in hand with the cost. It was about 1/3 capacity, so it's not because they were busy. The Social House being empty while the other drinking places on the grounds were full should have been a red flag for me. I'll say this, it was clean, there was a very nice grandma type swooping in to clean tables as soon as someone left. She would have done the Social House reputation good if she was behind the bar instead of whom was there. Avoid this place.

Yelp
September 12, 2024 | Puyallup, WA : Cheers to the Washington State Fair a.k.a. the Puyallup Fair! It's always a fun time! Rides | Dizzy WeekDay Pass | Unlimited Rides & 2 games ($55): My brother and I had a blast riding on the roller coasters, the guitar ride, and we even got on the Tilt A Whirl three separate times, so much fun!! Note: If you lean to the side on the Tilt A Whirl, it will spin more! Hahaha! Other rides were fun as well!! There is a wide variety! Favorite Ride: My absolute favorite ride were the Swings that went up really high into the air; the feeling of flying, and seeing the beautiful view was incredible! I also got on the smaller Swing Ride, which actually tilts at different angles while it spins in the air... Also super fun!! Fun Note: On the guitar ride, a little girl next to us kept screaming... I'm Unstoppable!!! Haha! Loved it! Food: I decided upon The Lobster Shack! My Lobster Roll w/fries ($24) was absolutely delicious, including the delicious bun! Yum!!! The customer service was super friendly! Nicole is so friendly and we had a couple of laughs while I was ordering! There were so many unique items on the menus as my brother and I walked around, including a cotton candy burrito! Imagine that! Haha! Pavillion | Brandon at True Honey Teas: My brother had already gone to the fair and purchased 4 bags of tea, which I tried and was absolutely delicious! Once inside the Pavilion, we headed straight to the booth to purchase the tea! I ended up getting two whole bags after sampling as many as I liked! Peach Roobios and Lavender Lemonade; 24 tea bags in each bag! (2 for $35)! Brandon at the booth was so super fun to chat with and conversation flowed easily, full of personality, loved it! Parking | Entrance: $15 for Parking during the weekday, which is right across the street, very short distance! $22 Parking on the weekend! Entrance Fee for Adults: Weekday ($15) & Weekends ($18) Overall: The Washington State Fair AKA Puyallup Fair is always super fun: rides, food, animals, games, great vibes and so much more! I've been going for years and have fun every single time!!! Woohoo!! Of course, my brother and I got 5 Elephant Ears dessert ($66.50) to take home, cut into pieces & share with the rest of the family!! Score!

Yelp
Clean fairgrounds, expensive food I have been to several state fairs around the country so I was excited that my trip aligned with the Washington state fair. I decided to buy rodeo tickets in advance since they included fair entry, rodeo and a concert. To start off parking is expensive. We paid about $20 to park. Luckily the gate was close to the lot so we didn't have to walk for. The tickets were mobile so we scanned and quickly entered. They give you a map but we decided to stroll around the outside and work are way in. We checked the map halfway to see if we missed anything. The fair itself I felt was small. You could easily walk it in a few hours and see everything. Highlights Washington police museum History of the fair museum The fair itself was clean. The food was really overpriced. About $15 for a sandwich and $4 for a water. The food itself was okay. Nothing I would be raving about as a highlight. We did try the scones. They tasted like a biscuit to me. The saving grace was the rodeo. It was very entertaining. Plus the concert in the dirt afterwards was fun. We ended up being able to stand in the front row.

Yelp
I've been attending the state fair here and their concerts. It's always entertaining and I felt safe at all the time. For this review I will be referring to "The taste of Northwest" which was free admission I did not get to try them all (too many option but limited stomach capacity ) For food, my highlights are: Uncle Mike's - $5 tasting for pork tocino w/ garlic rice - $5 tasting for chicken abodo w/ garlic rice Piña colada Acapulco style - $20 piña colada

Yelp
If you love rides and fairs, then I guess this would be your thing. It has everything one would expect. We probably never would have gone had it not been for the agriculture competitions. But it's really expensive, even if you have a free pass to get it. For example, we spent $15 just to park, then $60 for 120 ride tickets, rides are around 13 tickets. That's not a lot, especially if you're riding together. You could get an all day kids ride bracelet for $55 but then parents still need something for themselves. So we just went with the $60 ride package. We got two cold drinks at the cafe, that's another $18!!! For two drinks! And of course, we needed to eat. We dropped over $100 that day for just myself and my child. I would not recommend. Washington has SO many fun free things to do with kids because we're surrounded by nature's theme park.

Yelp
We enjoyed Victorian Country Christmas today! Lights, Christmas spirit, Santa and the Boot Boogie Babes performing on the main stage. What a fun day!
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
What a fun place to bring the family! Drove up from Vancouver WA to see Matchbox20 and they were OUTSTANDING! Hotels are plentiful making it easy to walk to the fair.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
What's not to love about a Spring for children, complete with just enough animals to keep the kids moving through the barns, great selection Of food - including scones AND a variety of kid-friendly rides?
google avatar

Yelp
So, for $18 I buy a mixed drink. Then I can't leave the area with it. Ok, I can deal. Then I finish my drink, only ice left, and I can't leave with it. ICE Can I say ICE again!?! WTF? This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Guess the libs that run the state are scared of ICE.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
If you go, buy nothing. Merchandise is often a knock off or very over priced; not all, but a good majority. The food prices are offensive. $18 for a Burger patty, onions, and a bun. The Burger is precooked left in a warm bath, and then grilled for 30 seconds. Such a shame for a classic fair burger. The real laugher is if you get Ranch or BBQ sauce with your $17 dollar brick of fries. You will pay $3 for a 1oz sauce cup. Rides and games are over priced too but at least you know what you are getting. The kids loved it because with almost every game you are guaranteed to win a cheap little plushie. My advice, eat before you go, bring your own drinks (look at the restrictions on the fair site), and buy nothing until you price check online. Have fun with games and rides the go somewhere else for lunch.
google avatar

Smaly K.

Yelp
I'll be stuck with calling it the Puyallup Fair. It was always something fun to do every year when you were younger. And a fun place for a date, with friends, or with your kids. Food, attractions, rides, games, things to buy... there's something for everyone. It has gotten pretty pricey nowadays. And my favorite ride, the Turbo Drop, not sure if anyone remembers this ride, has been long gone.
google avatar

Gerry L.

Yelp
First time ever at a State Fair. It was pretty big and lots to do with the G-kids. They kids loved it. The kids loved the rides and the animals. Getting to see all the animals up close was cool. The only negative thing was the food. It wasn't very good and way over priced. Imo the corn dogs/KrustyPups were awful and used the cheapest ingredients you can buy. Sales Family Farm booth is the biggest rip-off of the whole fair.

Yelp
Big fair with lots of food and things to do, from typical rides to art and cultural exhibits highlighting Washington. I would recommend it for adults and kids over 2 (most rides are more fun for older kiddos). We went on a cold, rainy Labor Day, which was a great choice if you want to go on the rides. There was no line for entering or purchasing food. We only stayed until noon, but was able to pet animals, look at some exhibits, watch a magic comedy show, and of course get lunch. I was here in July for Taste of NW, so I was naturally a little disappointed by the food options. My favorites we tried were fried cheese curds and fennel cake. Tip: opening day is free entrance with donation.

Yelp
A very cool experience to do and see at least once! Tasty eats, live entertainment, and so many cute animals! Tickets - My husband and I purchased them online for about $17 each and then arriving there paid for parking - $20 cash or card at the gold lot. Things we ate: + Fischer Scones (about $3.5 for a single scone loaded with jam) - honestly this was so good! I can see why there are so many stands all throughout the fair! + BBQ Pete's Turkey leg (about $23) we got this one because the wood smoke allured us in. The leg was yummy and had a smoky flavor but a little bland in flavor. It was nice they let us have some bbq sauce. + Lulu's Dairy Farm ice cream - This was also super yummy. We got the strawberry swirl and it was a nice refresher. We didn't really stay too long at the fair - maybe around 3 hours or so. Games and rides are a little pricey. We came mainly for food and vendor shopping. Lots of different vendors and different spaces. I liked the artisan market area more than the main vendor area but it's probably because there were more homeowner goods and we don't have a house for a hot tub or sauna yet. We caught part of Roberto the Magnificent - my husband seemed interested but I thought it was just ok. Watching jugglers stresses me out so we left part of the way through the show. Fun guy though! Our favorite part of the fair was all the cute animals and petting areas! My heart was melting looking at all the cute birds, bunnies, mini horses, alpacas, and more! Overall, it's a little pricey in my opinion and I'm not sure I would come back every year or anything but definitely fun to come with family and friends to hang out and enjoy tasty eats.

Yelp
$22 for parking, $75 for 4 adults. $16 for Philly cheese stake, $16 for curry fries, $10 elotes, $20 ceviche, $60 for rides x2 ($120) Another $100 for ride tickets that last for 5 rides for the kids under 5 years old. $45 for scones, $10 for mystery bags. $30 for dumpling. That's how much we spend for a family of 4. Next stop Disneyland. But my kids had fun.
google avatar

Bridgett S.

Yelp
$30 to park on the weekend $$ for a soda Expensive food that make you spend too much time in the bathroom crazy prices for dollar tree souvenirs. I am surprised they are not charging for use of the bathrooms or breathing while on the fair grounds. If you go, eat before you go bring snacks and drinks if you can. Do not buy anything it's not worth the price. Hopefully you got a free ticket for your child. Entry is a rip off.
google avatar

Wina G.

Yelp
We still call it the Pullayup Fair and we still go every year. Unfortunately prices keep going up for tickets and food. We got tickets online for $14 and parked close by on the street. Never mind the $22 parking. Loved checking out the livestock, chickens, even dogs and cats. Be sure to check the rotating schedule to see what animal are being shown that week. And the food! Be sure to get the HUGE smoked turkey leg- $22 plus tax, onion burger $12.40 from the famous Sales vendor and of course the fair scones with raspberry jam- sooo flaky! Yes, they're pricy but you have to get them- it's tradition! This year they had camel rides! $10 per person. Word of caution- bring a hat,use sunscreen and drink lots of water. It's a must!
google avatar

Dan W.

Yelp
Things that are still fun: 4H kids showing off their hard work (think: animals) and the fair food smells. Things that are out of control: commercialization. I guess they need to pay for the whole thing somehow, and ticket sales aren't enough. I guess if you need a new spa, mattress, gutters, or other big ticket item you can check it out. The feeling of local vendors selling crafted items is almost all but gone. The smattering of them into random places exists, but you have to hunt for it. Otherwise, everyone there is selling alibaba/temu items at a steep mark up. Go to support the 4H, and then I'm done.

Yelp
We have been both to the state fair and, most recently, Holiday Magic. The state fair is a must do activity for me in the fall. We bring the kid wagon and spend a few hours walking around and seeing the sites. My favorite part is the animals and I love when there is info about them and you get to learn a little while having fun! Our little one was scared of the larger animals at first but, once she saw something more her size, really liked them! Going through the area with the vendors is also a lot of fun for me, even if we never buy anything. I will say we had some trouble during Holiday Magic. We ended up going in the wrong gate, that was held open for us and a large group. We went with the group as no one said this was not the right gate and straight into a private party. We then ended up wandering around for a while before a security guard found us. He did not know what Holiday Magic was and we had to go back the way we came which was a bit of a distance. We eventually found the correct gate and made it at last. The train ride was very fun and we really enjoyed the live animals in the nativity scene. The hot chocolate was also FANTASTIC! Like, this type of hot chocolate does not usually come from a stand. If there was more signage in the beginning telling us what gate to go in, and the person at the gate had asked us why we were there, it might have been a bit shorter, dryer and warmer evening. Now we know though!

Yelp
Because food at the Fair is very expensive we thought we'd try Impact 2-for-1 Vendor in the food court to save $$. They offered cheese burgers 2for1 for $13 and fries 2for1 for $7. We did not expect a lot for the price, but we were extremely disappointed in both the quality and taste of everything. IF I COULD, THIS VENDOR WOULD GET ZERO STARS. We knew the burgers were no frills, small meat patty, and cheese. there was mustard and ketchup as condiments so thought could not be worse than McDonalds. However, the burger had a very bad taste and the bun smelled funny. After a couple bites we could not eat it. the fries were cold when we got them like they've been sitting around for some time. Ended up tossing all $21 of food in the garbage and had to rebuy our food elsewhere. They should be banned from selling at the fair. People with small kids trying to save a few bucks and then this vendor comes along taking your money for something that is inedible. Fair prices are beginning to be unaffordable to people who sacrifice other amenities to take their kids for a good time. Something needs be done. I've been going to the fair since 1958 and this was the worse experience ever.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
You didn't go to the fair unless you buy a dole whip. It's a must! . There is just something about it that quenches your thirst. Yum!
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Food? ...just don't. I can do expensive and good.. I can even do cheap and okay...but expensive and crap? Nope. $120 for three Earthquake burgers, fries, drinks. Burgers were not even mid. Never eating at the fair again...ever.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Lots of fun, lots to see, lots of money needed. I was afraid this fair wouldn't live up to the hype of the fair of where I moved from, but it got pretty darn close. Recent review posted said his corn dog was $19 dollars but mine was $9.75. It was an ok dog, nothing special there. The employees we encountered were all friendly but all the vendors were super pushy. For me that makes me not want to buy your products personally but that's not on the fair to monitor or control.
google avatar

Wendi K.

Yelp
Yes, it's pricey. Yes, you will wait in lines. But this State Fair is HUGE (larger than I could have ever expected), filled with nostalgia and fun, and has something for everyone. Rides, Games, Random Expo Exhibits, Booths, Farm Animals, Fun Fair Foods GALORE. I'm so glad this exists :)
google avatar

Id M.

Yelp
Puyallup fair has become outrageously expensive -for example one turkey leg not a meal just one turkey leg is $24 water is six dollars. The rides are about $12 on average per person. The rodeo cost $50. The actual cost was $35 and then they add $15 worth of service fees onto that, most of the really good exhibits are gone. It's just one huge rip off. Somehow they figured out a way to price fix parking so that's $15 now and the entrance fee is $20 so for just one person if you add up the above. That's $121 just to go to the rodeo -to have one ride and one turkey leg and one bottle of water....

Yelp
To be honest, I was lazy and did not want to go to the fair. Guess what my son's school had given him a free entry pass! Now you can imagine the scene at home - It's weekend mom ! I have a free pass! Let's go! It's sunny .. And then the family gets packed in the car to drive to the fair which is an hour and half to do coz mom didn't plan anything better. My lazy woes aside, this fair surprised me! For context we did the whole 4 park , 10 days in disney Florida for my son's 5th birthday. Despite that I was surprised and would have missed out on an incredible opportunity to have fun if my son hadn't pushed for this. The school and the teachers know what they are doing ! To start off with, the entry pass for tickets is $17 per adult, parking is $18. I highly recommend buying the $100 pass for the rides. My son is 6 year old and he did 10 rides with some of the rides shared with an adult. If we were not tired we were thinking of buying him another pass worth $60. The rides he did was - tornado, bumper car, glider, skyline, wave swinger, wildcat roller coaster, dragon wagon, super slide, carousel and a motorbike ride. The whole family did the skyline ride and my 2 year old did the motorbike ride which is the only she height qualified. We kept munching on the goodies - curly fries, pizza slices and corn cobs in between rides. I also managed to swing into the shops in between partner switching to accompany the boy to the rides. My favorite was the shop with wooden figurines. Attaching a pic of my haul from the woodshed. Couple of things - - The lines are long. Going in a group and lining up in different lines would help. - Keep your belongings in a zipped up bag. - Wear pants and keep your hair tied. - Do get a map and locate nearest restrooms. Have fun folks. This is an easy and close to home thrill of rides . While Disney is more organized, fancy, comfortable it is also super expensive, far and well needs planning. The WA state fair rides are equally thrilling. They are worth their weight in fun, adventure and happiness. Do yourself a favor and go have fun.

Yelp
We rode rides, played games and eat ALOT! WA state fair was a hit with my family. We enjoyed the vendors from mattresses to jewelry - we were overwhelmed with all the happenings that competed for our attention. I was thankful for the fair map that was provided at the gate. It was so helpful for moving through the fair with a limited amount of frustration. We arrived hungry and there were so many choices. Tips for the going to the Fair. 1. Bring money - food is expensive. We are a family of 5 so we easy drop over $100 in food. 2. Go on a weekday - admission prices are a few dollars cheaper 3. By tickets on line - there's no savings (even if the website says there are) purchasing your tickets on line saves you time. 4. Build in time to find free parking or know you will have to spend between $12-40 to park 5. Bring hand sanitizer - there were a ton of folks. Enjoy!!!!!

Yelp
Decided to go to the Spring Fair on Thursday, 4/14/22, right on the first day of opening. Arrived at the parking lot at 2:05 PM, had to wait about 15 minutes because of heavy traffic getting in. But once we parked, just had to walk across the street to the Blue Gate. Free Admissions and Free Parking on Thursdays! That was nice for 5 people. When we got in, had to buy the Rides and Game Fun Cards. Got 3 of the 210 Tickets for $100 deal. Walked around all over the Fair, went on some rides, played games, and ate some food. Was a little disappointed by the Earthquakes Burger, saying they had the best Burgers, but had to wait in a long line and when we ordered, it cost $16-$18 per Burger and another $11 for a greasy load of Curly Fries! When we got the food, it wasn't as good as we had hoped or expected. For the expensive prices, you'd hope for a great tasing Burger, but nope!!! Just full or grease and oil. That's all you will get at this place. First time and last time. Better to go to a different food stand or better yet, bring your own food. Anyway, we got some Funnel Cakes, which tasted great! Can't go wrong with those. Overall, the Fair itself is pretty overly priced for the rides, food and drinks. But at least it's once or twice a year.... We had fun for the most part, regardless.

Yelp
The fair was such a fun and nostalgic experience so I am glad I planned to go this year. I went on opening day when there was free admission with a suggested food drive donation. I arrived 15 minutes before the gates opened and found parking in one of the fair's lots for $15 (weekday price). This was great because once we got inside there was hardly any lines for any rides and for the first 4 hours of the day we only had to wait 5 minutes max if anything to get on rides. There are great rides for younger kids too - my 6 & 5 year old had a blast. Most of the rides cost 11 tickets and we did a few rides for 13 tickets. We got the 210 tickets for $100 and we were able to ride a good amount of rides. A lot of fun fair food options that are definitely overpriced, but that's apart of the whole fair experience I suppose. My favorite out of everything was definitely the turkey leg and funnel cake. The only downside of going on opening day was how clueless 85% of the staff working were. One person got everyone onto the ride then told us she didn't know how to operate it and no one trained her.. this was after she scanned all of our funcards so that was 22 tickets for us we wasted because her machine wasn't working for refunds. Luckily that didn't affected our experience, but it was definitely an annoying thing that happened in the moment. Overall: I highly recommend coming on a weekday as soon as they open to avoid the long lines. On 9/8 there is free admission for everyone from 10:30-12:30 w/a suggested school drive donation plus you can get a dizzy pass this day - this sounds like anything great day to visit if anyone is thinking about it!

Yelp
If you buy anything from the vendors, Try Amazon. I bought a phone case with an internal battery for $70. I could have gotten 2 on Amazon that where 2x more powerful. I feel cheated. The draft horses are so awesome!!!! The food was overpriced and just ok.

Yelp
Not being a native Washingtonian, I've picked up on the widespread sentiment that the state fair has declined dramatically over the years. I've been to every continent. After extensive travel around Europe and Asia and exposure to a wide variety of festivals and fairs, I can confidently say that the Washington State Fair is among the best of its kind and worthy of multiple visits. I didn't participate in any of the rides or eat anything there. I try to make the best decisions for my body, so I avoid meat. However, they were not short of viable alternatives. But of the food, I don't eat much of anything fried, and I try to monitor what I eat as much as possible, but it looked delicious. The fair was fantastic with all of the games, rides, farms, beer gardens, and live music. The fair as a whole had stunning aesthetics. If you're ever in Washington at this time of year, you should definitely visit the Washington State Fair. Overall, I have no complaints and am quite satisfied. The only complaint I heard was that it rained too much. I regret not going on drier days. My visit on the final day, Sunday, the 24th, was a huge mistake. Aside from that, though, I had an incredible experience!

Yelp
A lot more great food available! The rides are always fun, good amount of ride options as well. Plenty of fair games to try to win prices. Lots of sellers available to buy products. I've noticed that a lot more people are attending, especially on sunny days or weekends. Parking is always a hassle, the blue and gold parking lots are always full especially in the afternoon and evening. A lot of houses and other lots opening for paid parking around the area though, just be careful because some of them charge a lot! Prices have gotten so expensive, especially the food prices. But still had so much fun attending.

Yelp
I had bought the dizzy pass on Friday, it had worked for about three rides. After which, it was no longer valid. I had gone to, two different customer service booths, they both had said that, "it doesn't work, so I don't know how to help you." I understand that it's not an easy job, but I would have expected that they make a bigger effort other than. "Can't help, bye". $58 down the drain.

Yelp
Washington State has many summer festivals all over the state, but this one is the grand daddy of them all! Puyallup is a bit of a drive but it is totally worth it! It's got everything, lots of food, games, carnival rides, arts and crafts, animals, plus concerts and live performers around. It's clean and very organized. Lots of parking too. We had a ton of fun and will be back next year. Whether you are a local or not, do the Puyallup!

Yelp
Avoid the churro stand unless you want to watch them give out your order to people with order numbers that come after yours. The lady packaging the churros was skipping order numbers and handing them out to customers who just ordered, they were obviously either her friends or relatives, making the wait even longer for everyone else. Because of this, she mixed up the tickets and couldn't keep track of the orders. When confronted she just sort of brushed it off. In the off chance they see this, stop hiring your tia or abuela and get someone who understands customer service, workflow, and English.

Yelp
Tragic that the opening prayer for the rodeo included thanking God for the right to carry a gun. Our nation's schools just suffered another tragic shooting. Not a time to celebrate and thank god for guns.

Yelp
I am thinking the executives at the Washington State Fair board think folks must be stupid. I received an email today telling me I could buy my State Fair tickets at a discount. So, I told my wife that we should look at when we want to go. So, I went a checked out the prices hoping for a great deal! Here are my findings: If I buy Early Bird tickets for my wife and I here are the cost (Anytime Tickets): Senior ticket cost: $12.00 x 2 = $24.00 Ticket master ordering fee: $2.50 If I want to pick them up at will call: $5.00 Total cost $26.50 - $31.50 REGULAR PRICES - AT THE GATE Monday - Friday Senior ticket cost: $13.00 x 2 = $26.00 There really isn't any saving for the Early Bird tickets

Yelp
So much fun! This fair has everything an ideal fair needs (and more)- ample parking, traffic control by police officers, barn animals, rides for kids (and kids at heart) of all ages, daily live entertainment and a diverse array of food options. Yes, food prices can be outrageous and portions are eh sometimes, but that's the situation at most fairs, so I mean.... It even hosts local craft vendors and small businesses... and has a Mattress Firm showplex (which we totally came to the fair for... right? LOL). It was so fun, that my friend and I ended up spending 8 hours here. Definitely coming back next year.

Yelp
THEFT is allowed according to their managers. When the customer service representatives and the Administration Building personnel tell a customer to basically " SUCK IT UP", an investigation needs to be done internally. To allow a rider, employee, or crook to steal my money is inexcusable. I bought a 100 dollar ticket for rides/ games. When I tried to use the 100 dollar ticket for one of the rides, the Washington State Fair employee who scans ticket told me that my tickets/ money was gone. I went straight to the customer service department and the Administration Building to talk with R**, A*****, and a J***. Neither one of these company representatives offered me my money back or a replacement card. Instead, these three people who represent the WASHINGTON STATE FAIR told me that my money was stolen and I was just out of luck. One of them looked at me with such disdain, I almost cursed him/her out. I realize that this "expensive" fair has to pay their performers and employees. However, I try to save every year for that ( 10 dollar corn on the cob, 9 dollar corn dog, one glazed donut for 3.50, and 120 dollars to enter and ride carnival rides). To have someone steal my money / ticket without any compensation or action needs a Federal Trade Commission inspection/ investigation.

Yelp
Yeehaw, Welcome to the Puyallup Fair (Washington State Fair) Extravaganza! First off, let's talk moolah! I gotta be straight with y'all--this place isn't for penny pinchers. A Corn Dog will set you back $19! Yeah, you read that right--$19 for a good ol' deep-fried hot dog on a stick! But hear me out, the experience is worth its weight in gold! ‍ Safety First, folks! The Puyallup Police Department is out in full force, making sure everyone's safe and sound. And lemme tell you, they're the nicest officers you'll ever meet! Food Booths Gone Wild! Think Las Vegas-style with dazzling big screen signage. It's a little over the top, but who doesn't love some eye candy, right? The Grandstand is where it's AT! I've caught so many bands here over the years. Just tonight, I saw Chicago, and WOW--talk about an AMAZING show! The Puyallup Fair has done a great job staying true to its farming community roots. And although there seemed to be fewer vendors in the Exhibition halls this year, the whole thing still feels like a heartfelt tribute to days gone by. ‍‍‍ Now for the people--oh the beautiful, diverse sea of people! It's America's melting pot at its finest. Compared to 60 years ago, you'll see faces from all walks of life, each one bringing their own flavor to the Fair. I'm naturally chatty (some might say a real "Chatty Cathy"), and let me tell you, EVERYONE was in high spirits! So much warmth, so much excitement, and so much FUN! Yes, it's a spendy day, but believe me, it's an experience you'll treasure! So grab your cowboy boots and meet me at the Puyallup Fair for a toe-tappin', corn dog munchin', all-around AMAZING time! 3/5 Stars for the Pricey Corn Dogs, but 5/5 for the Experience!

Yelp
Seen lots of cool things out here. It's a long, long drive but well worth it aside from the giant horde of people breathing their death breath all over me

Yelp
Went during labor day weekend and had a fun time overall! It was definitely pricey (admission ticket is around $17 for weekends, parking fee is $10-$18, ticket fees for games and rides, food) but fun! There were a lot of rides and while they had lines, it moved fast (about 15 min max in line) The petting zoo had a lot of cute animals and there were a lot of farm animals and unique birds. We saw the extreme dog show which was cute! We ate dippin dots, dolewhip, and hotdogs. Food is on the pricier side, but expected. Overall, a fun time!

Yelp
This fair has turned to the dump. Seriously, do we need 10 booths selling mattress firm beds? Or 6 selling a massage gun? Seems like so many similar merchant booths. I specifically went as I wanted to buy a shammee for my car. Not a single one selling those. Perhaps we don't need 3 freeze dried candy shops. Or 2 iPhone chargers. I don't want to get into the $10 corn dog!

Yelp
You can do it at a trot, You can do it at a gallop, You can do it real slow so your heart won't palpitate. Just don't be late. Do the Puyallup! I remember in grade school the teachers used to pass out free tickets for the Puyallup Fair. Yah, I gotta pay the admission fee now but at least there are different ways to get a discount like being a BECU member. I usually go early to beat the 167 traffic. The backup can be brutal later in the day. It's always good to bring that cash money for parking! Ya never know if you're gonna have to park on someone's lawn. I usually eat a Krusty Pup and we always leave the fair with a bag of Fisher Scones.

Yelp
Always fun and entertaining. Best fair in Washington State. Love the scones, onion burgers, etc. Hall of heroes this year was cool. Only half a Batmobile? Wha? Saw Styx and REO Speedwagon at the concert series under a beautiful sky with mild temperatures. A very fun time with something for everyone!

Yelp
Covid-specific review of the Drive-Thru Dinosaur Adventure: A very fun way to get out of the house and enjoy a safe bit of entertainment for the whole family. Tickets were purchased online and a quick, masked scan of our phone confirmed tickets then we were waved through to the line of cars slowly making their way though the maze of dinosaurs. Accompanying the tour was an online audio tour, complete without paleontological guide giving a summary of each dinosaur and trying to offer a bit of a show at the same time. The exhibit is plentiful and would be really enjoyable when we are allowed to get out and engage with it in the future. The experience was more expensive than we would have paid on a normal occasion, but having been quarantined for 8-months, it was a welcome outing, worth the cost.

Yelp
We kept having to buy more ride tickets because the ride operators kept scanning the tickets more than once. Most kids rides are 11 tickets per ride but we were paying 22 or 33 per ride . When we talked to the ticket sales people they said it happens all the time the scanners don't work right but we had to go all the way to the other side of the fair to get a credit ‍ Other than that issue we love the fair!
