I first saw Wat Arun back in 2017 (without entering), so during my 2025 trip I made sure to finally explore it properly! We took a boat from Rajinee Pier for 40 baht. The ride was quick and easy, but be prepared, the river is brown and has a strong smell, so sitting close to the water isn’t the most pleasant experience. Cash is better here, as card payments can be tricky.
Entrance to Wat Arun costs 200 baht per person, and it includes a small bottle of water. Remember to dress modestly, proper clothing is required to enter. 👗🙏 Even on a weekday, the temple was very crowded! Many visitors were renting traditional Thai costumes and taking endless photos. The atmosphere was lively but also quite humid and hot, with limited greenery providing shade 🌞🌿. I tried climbing part of the temple to get a better view, but the stairs are extremely steep. not recommended for elderly visitors or children.
If you’re looking for peace and comfort, you might want to reconsider. but if you’re chasing history and iconic views, it’s ok to visit!
