"Kebabs, falafel, gyros — all the greats of New York-style street food are on offer at this Greenville Ave. spot." - Courtney E. Smith, Didi Paterno

"Wava Halal Grill, a new destination for falafel and gyros prepared to Halal standards, has opened its doors on Greenville Avenue. Everything served at Wava is prepared to Halal standards, which govern the slaughter and preparation of meats for people who follow Islamic dining laws. For folks who don’t, the restaurant’s Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare is still likely to draw crowds. Wava Halal Grill serves a pretty standard menu of gyros, falafel, kebabs, and bowls, all served with super spicy red and creamy white sauce similar to those on offer at The Halal Guys. Halal hot dogs, cheeseburgers, fries, and fresh fruit smoothies round out the menu, on which virtually every dish is priced under $10. Wava Halal Grill is now open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m." - Amy McCarthy

Yelp
The food was so delicious, with generously sized portions and delightful flavors! The customer service was great & Sunny was very friendly who brought a great sense of humor to the experience. I will certainly be returning frequently !

Yelp
Late night food means late night customer service. It's normally pretty quiet but can get pretty busy. Food is great and never have had a bad time. It was super late when I came in with my sister and the cashier had auto gratuity on us whenever we were paying out at the end. If you're adding it, don't ask us to tip kthx. Otherwise great food.

Eddie I.

Yelp
Always our option for a late night bite of great food! Whenever we are off of work late, this is the spot! Usually service is great and friendly. Just double check at paying to make sure that autograt hasn't been added already. He mentioned leaving tip to my partner and my partner pointed out that he already had added the grat. Outside of that, always a great option!

Yelp
This review is for take out. We ordered 2 mix platters, 2 shawarma wraps, 2 falafels, and a garden salad. Well, this started off quite bad. When we got the delivery, we were missing the 2 mixer platters and garden salad, so we're not sure if it's the restaurants fault or DoorDash delivery guy's fault. The shawarma wraps were okay. Not great and bad either. The tahini was disgusting. The hot sauce just smells and tastes like salsa. Disrespectful. I do think the price is decent for what it is though. If you don't have the tongue for Mediterranean food, you'd probably like it.

Yelp
SCAM! This place SCAMS you out of your money! Facts: Chicken lettuce wraps $12.99 $3.49=$16.50 extra protein == 1 cup of product. 1 f*ing cup Chicken Gyro + extra protein $18.00 = 3 cups of product. Ok, reasonable. Don't believe me? Write me and ask for the video I took of me measuring the product and send you the copy of the receipt!! I'll send it to you. Called and asked for manager to talk about it. Was told, "Manager is not here. Manager will not speak to you." I asked for manager's name and when he/she was there. "Just come in and see if he's here." I asked again for his name. "Manager told us not to give out his name so you can't ask for him." I said I did not want to drive in to fix a problem they created. "Look, man. That's the price. If you don't like what you got, don't order it again. He's not going to change anything. You got what you got." Anyone that has to hide who they are as a manager knows they are crook! This is the reason 97% of all Dallas-area restaurants fail within the 1st year. This place will, too!!! So ...I got what I got. They get what they get. I'm nobody's victim. I know how to use my voice. This is 1 or 7 reviews I have now posted about this restaurant with this review copied to each one. Take my money once. F*ck off forever! SCAM!!!

Yelp
Surprised to see the hype around this place. Pros: open till late night, they don't skimp on their meats, huge portions. Falafel was crispy. Mediocre: the taste, I felt it was alright and nothing to be awestruck about. The rice was ok, the flavour of the meats were alright, crinkle cut fries are decent. Hubs also ordered chocolate milkshake for me, this was quite creamy and tasty. DoorDash order, cannot comment on the service or ambiance.

Joy M.

Yelp
Gyro not gyroing at all rice has no flavor the wrap only comes with meat and lettuce no veggies and they don't ask just wasn't worth the visit litterally went back for refuns

Yelp
This place was recommended to me a few times, so I finally decided to try it and ordered food for me and a friend. They must have stapled my receipt to the wrong bag, because not only did I not get any utensils or napkins, but what was inside wasn't my order. It was significantly less than what I ordered. When I attempted to reach out and have the situation corrected, I was basically told "oh well. You're out of luck." Instead of delicious shawarma and fries, I got chicken and lettuce in a soggy pita. Very disappointed. Won't be back.

Diana T.

Yelp
The food was okay. Ordered the Meat Lover platter, and the chicken (the few pieces we received) was good and juicy. The beef kebab was dry and didn't seem fresh. The hummus was okay. Overall, the taste was plain. Also, they only have a few counters if you want to eat there.

Ramatoulie R.

Yelp
ordered the lamb and beef gyro and it was delicious! the seasoning was perfect and the portion was great. wish it would've had a bit more lettuce but still good!

Father M.

Yelp
I could eat the chicken kebab every day of the week I should just have my direct deposit go directly to them out of respect

Yelp
I miss living close to wava, it's like the gem of upper Greenville. The place is tiny situated between a few shops and the service is fast but the food is BOMB. The food is always on point and fast, the tri burough with extra falafel is my go to but if I'm feeling healthy they have a hummus bowl that you can add meat to that is so flavorful. Their proprietary white sauce is a must and the red spicy sauce is a perfect kick. My fiance and I still make the drive out to Dallas to get this at least a few times a month, it's a must try.

Adrian W.

Yelp
I come here every night maybe lol !! Love this Place! Open late and tastes great!! Thank you to Ali and Sam for the great customer service!

Faysal A.

Yelp
Solid place for a spice of desi and ny style platter. It really depends on the location because I went to two seperate ones, one really felt like the street carts in downtown Manhattan and the other felt like A solid twist of Indian/pakistani w a touch of halal guys. I'd go again but I wouldn't say this is chicken and rice similar to Adels. Spoken from a former NJ/NY resident who has recently moved to the DFW area.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall spot. Didn't take pics but this is my second time eating here. The tri borough is good if you wanna try 3 different meats. The white sauce and garlic sauce is pretty good. The hot sauce is good too. I'm really picky with sauces and this place actually has good sauce compared to many i have tried. The beef and chicken shawarma was okay. Wasn't my favorite. I think this rice was different from the other platter. I also ordered the beef gyro. It was stuffed with plenty of meat. I would probably ask for more lettuce and add feta cheese next time. I was a little sad bc they forgot my chickens and rice order but it's okay, it happens. Over all the food was good and people were nice. Parking isn't the best if you're there during busy hours. I would pre order and pick up.

Yelp
This fills a hole in the Dallas food scene. I've been wishing for a late night gyro spot since moving here and this fits the bill: comes out quickly, and a great value for the portion sizes (my gyro platter plus hummus and pita made 3 meals for me). Pita was super fluffy and the meats were all excellent.

Evelyn S.

Yelp
Came here late night with friends and it reminded me of my nights in Tel Aviv. Food has the authentic taste you need to forget about any other foods. Service was fast and the gentleman in the counter made us feel at home asking us if everything was pleasing to us and that say's a lot a business that cares on the spot. I don't remember if there was any music playing in the background I was busy devouring my plate.

Meghan M.

Yelp
I was craving some chicken over rice, and found this place while in the area. Let me just say -- this place gives Halal Guys a run for its money! I came around 5 PM, ordered the chicken gyros over rice to go, and the man at the front was like, "I'll have your order ready in 3 minutes." I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly it was ready, and when I drove back and ate it at home an hour later, everyone held up really well. The pita was fluffy, the chicken was piping hot and perfectly seasoned, and the rice and salad were solid. My only complaint is that they don't have a restroom for customers, but I got the vibe that this is a grab and go sort of establishment. Overall, great food and I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

Melanie T.

Yelp
I was in the mood for some really great Mediterranean food and after searching the area, we stumbled on Wava Halal Grill. Upon arrival, parking can be a beast. I have never experienced this before but in Dallas, there are lots of parking right next to the main road so backing out can be a dangerous experience especially since it's not a quiet back road either. But once you pass on that, it's a smooth sail from there. We ordered the Tri Borough Combination Platter and I think it's the best option in the menu if you want to try everything for $11. You get a lot of meat and veggies that will fill you up but you get to sample a little bit of everything. Everything about this was just so good. I'm going to have to try to find something like this back home.

Claudia C.

Yelp
We love that wava stays open late. Great service and amazing food. I always get chicken shawarma and baba ganoush!

Mark T.

Yelp
Very tasty food, especially the falafel. My only complaint is that the pitas break apart when you try to eat them making it a messy experience. Wish they would fix that.

Gladys M.

Yelp
Great food hands down. The seasoning on the meats and the buttery rice is the best. The service is fast and you don't wait long for your food. Absolutely will be eating here a couple of times a month

Marcus R.

Yelp
Ordered some late night Uber Eats from this place and am so glad I did! I went for the trip of meats in my meal but you really can't go wrong with any - each has plenty of flavor and is tender. Big fan of the white and red sauces, but I do wish the red was a bit spicier! Would definitely come back

Yelp
Every day I've I come Dallas, I make sure that visit the Wava Halal grill. However, today our visit was very disappointing. Firstly, the food was horrible and quality has decreased tremendously. We loved this restaurant because the meat was always seasoned very well. The combo land and chicken swarmed platter. The lamb was dry, very thin, and tasteless. The chicken was small diced, dried pieces. The portions are smaller. Secondly, the customer service was horrible. The restaurant was empty, so we asked questions about the menu. Several items have been added since our last visit. We asked about the combo swarms, and was told it contained meat and we could add sauce. We asked what kind of sauce and he said Garlic and another sauce, unknown to him. He asked would like a side salad or Tabouleh Salad? We asked what a Tabouleh Salad? He said listen, I work the front, the cooks know what in it, and begin looking at his phone. We order the mixed salad, because we knew what that was. Our experience was so bad, I will not be going back. When we used to go, the owner was there, and happily welcomed each customer. To the owner the older guy that was working today, is definitely in the wrong position.

Yelp
Service is awesome!! Falafels we delicious Gyros were full of meat! I had chicken so yummy!

Rachel R.

Yelp
I'm basing this off of a take out meal. I have never ate inside the restaurant. I ordered the lamb/beef over rice. It came nice and hot, which was a surprise because Uber eats (standard priority) usually sucks.Anyway, I'm super happy I got to try the food while it was still hot! The meat was absolutely delicious, and so was the rice. Their white sauce was really delicious too. I accidentally ordered extra white sauce, and I'm glad. The smell do the food made me feel like I was eating on the street of NYC. The portions were also huge! I wanted to eat it all, but couldn't. I look forward to eat the left overs tomorrow, or sharing them with my husband! I originally was going to order from the Hala guys, but I am glad I didn't. This place ended up being so much better.

Manuel R.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! We had the falafel platter and it was enough to feed two people. Also, the prices are very reasonable! We will be definitely be back!

Jannifer K.

Yelp
I would give this spot a solid 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up! I came in around 11pm on a Saturday night on my way home from the airport and there weren't a ton of people in the store, although it was buzzing outside the café with many Saturday night life explorers. I was appreciative of the 2 parking spots designated in front of the store because had it not been for them, parking would have been a hassle. The space is fairly small, but it has a cozy environment. When I finally ordered, the staff inside was very polite and genuinely hospitable, even allowing me to customize my order so that I could take advantage of more veggie friendly options. I ended up ordering a green smoothie and veggie plate with eggplant/ falafel which came out quickly (about 10 minutes) after placing the order. The total came out to about $25 for the two. I was thankful that they offered some vegetarian options for customers that don't eat meat; the falafel was crunchy, and the eggplant was tender; I would love to see some fresh vegetables (ex: as simple as a fresh side salad of maybe spinach, onion, and olive) and a little bit more spicing in future, but overall, what they offer(ed) isn't anything that a little salt and pepper couldn't boost. Additionally, the green smoothie was sweet and refreshing, and I think it either could use a couple more fresh fruits blended in (I think it may have just been a couple different juices blended together) or simplifying by offering just orange or a singular juice on the menu so that it's less sweet. Overall though, I would recommend this spot if you need a late night meal as the service and food are probably one of the better options available!

Yelp
I wanted a gyro so bad and was disappointed my favorite Greek place in Bishop Arts had closed early. I found Wava on yelp, they stay open late and I headed there. Once inside a guy was watching tv on his phone. He didn't bother to look up or acknowledge me. I was confused as the first thing you see is a subway assembly table and my thought was I was suppose to start at the end of the table. Wrong!!! You order at the register. It would have been helpful if the guy looking at the phone would have acknowledged me and let me know I would place my order with him. I ordered a gyro, fries and lemonade. The gyro was just "okay". It was missing the robustness of flavor that I am used to getting from the gyro I get in Bishop Arts. (They are also missing great customer services by their owner operator) The lemonade is almost $4 and it tasted as if it came from a pre-mix instead of freshly squeezed. It was very sweet and the consistency of syrup poured over ice. The one person that gave great customer service was the tall guy who brought me my order. If it were not for him, I think I would have taken my order to go. Lackluster food, bad customer service. I most likely wont be back.

Kyle R.

Yelp
If you order chicken expect shrimp. If you try to return your shrimp for chicken expect to write a review. This place argued w/ me based off my order. It was wrong. When I returned the shrimp the claimed I ate it. Safe your time and order from Halal Guys

Shan H.

Yelp
I enjoyed my wava chicken gyro with fresh fries. I was a bit hesitant because it was so empty and there wasn't lamb suggested as a protein choice but definitely would recommend this place. My friend enjoys the one in Texas, so I decided to try this one. It definitely did not disappoint. Parking sucks because it's on a Main Street but if you are able to grab a spot along the side of the building then drop in for a bite. Also the young man serving me was very polite and patient as I scanned the menu before I ordered.

Olivia J.

Yelp
Me and my husband had have a wonderful time here, beautiful place. Great food and exilent customer service

Paula C.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite halal spot in the area. The plate options are great and every one of them are juicy and in hearty portions. Definitely a must try if you're in the lower greenville area.

Diamond S.

Yelp
This is now, without a doubt, my new addiction. I just came back from NYC over the Christmas holiday and of course I had to hit the Halal food truck! I love chicken over rice but i'm not pescatarian so I only eat seafood! I was delighted to find the ONLY Halal joint in town, who serves Shrimp over rice! When I tell you, this was THE BEST Shrimp over rice i've ever had! Whew! The amount of protein is unheard of - the container was filled to the rim with Shrimp! The flavors are all so on point! This was better than any street food I got in New York. I will for certain be back, over and over again!

Kaylee P.

Yelp
I found hairs cooked in with meat for multiple meals. IT WAS INSIDE THE MEAT. Completely unacceptable.

Ray F.

Yelp
Was popping through the area and realized I needed to eat before I began chewing people's arms off. Arms never taste good, so thought I'd try this place since there was an open spot in front. First time in and noted not much of a seating area and realized as a few delivery drivers were there that this was more of a take out or delivery place. As I stood looking over the menu board, a voice from the back said she'd be out in a minute. So i had a good chance to review the board and the options at the counter in front of me. After closer to 3 minutes a woman appears from the back with orders for the delivery drivers and off they go. Then it was my turn. She helped me clumsily place an order to go (wasn't really sure of my options or really what I agreed to and in the back she went to do her magic, I hoped). The phone was kind of ringing off the hook while I waited and a couple of more delivery drivers showed up. Finally she came out and I paid for a chicken gyro salad. She added some sauces and off I went. The salad was good and the the sauces were good. Price was okay but the service was very poor.

Angela C.

Yelp
ABED is amazing! So helpful and the food looks amazing I will come back to talk about it but his customer service was very warm and helpful!

Matthew T.

Yelp
Every time I'm in the area i have to get this!! Friendly staff and patient with newcomers. Love this place 10/10 highly recommend

Peyton U.

Yelp
best place in dallas for chicken and rice!!! try the lamb and beef gyro! best food to eat after a night out!

Andrew R.

Yelp
They have one of the best lamb and beef gyros in DFW. I order here at least two times a week. Be sure to check your order before leaving because they don't always follow order options the best. The food is 5 stars but the staff is sometimes not the friendliest and as mentioned before there's a high chance something will be forgotten in your order or a request not followed even when it's an allergy request.

Sarah G.

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday while running errands. My sister and I were looking for something quick to eat and she found this place via Yelp. Menus were displayed on the counter and also above the counter. I saw veggie burger and asked what was in it but they didn't have it so we moved on to either the falafel wrap or falafel burger. In the end, they were pretty much the same thing so we went with the falafel burger and shared a large fry, extra crispy, to go. We sat in the car while waiting for the food, which took about 7 or so minutes. The food came with a hot sauce and a white sauce. Fries were hot and crispy but lacked salt. We were under the impression that the falafel burger was going to be a patty, not 4 falafel looking donuts on a bun. The burger wasn't anything spectacular, it was good but simple. There was mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes. The white sauce was pretty good and the hot sauce had a lot of peppers that kind of just sat on your tongue. It was fine to me but if you're not into hot, spicy things, it may not be for you.

Theresa A.

Yelp
I thought it was ok but I got a terrible stomachache. I thought it was more like a restaurant but it but it only has long bar-like seating.

Diana V.

Yelp
LETS FREAKIN GOOOOO this place is my new favorite! I ordered this on Uber eats because I had nothing to eat at home that was healthy and im trying to not be a fat a**. The lettuce wraps with chicken gyro were delicious and made me feel satisfied and energized to watch Donald Trump make a fool of himself on the first presidential debate. My wallet will definitely be suffering from me continuing to order food from here constantly, but it's fine because its delicious.

Jaime C.

Yelp
It's a smaller hole in the wall spot with a lot of potential to grow. The food is good, the price is reasonable, the staff members are polite, the place is quiet. Great way to start the night on lower Greenville .

Tai D.

Yelp
******************************************Thank You Shahid for the great food and excellent service...!

Kendall A.

Yelp
Yo!!! Excellent customer service! Abed is great very helpful in helping and recommending food. Plus the food is amazing. That lamb and rice is A1

Margaret A.

Yelp
Great chicken and sauce, terrible beef, bad textured rice, bland tabbouleh, but the hummus was tasty. I'd go back for a chicken shawarma wrap or salad and hummus again but jeez, AVOID the beef! It's like someone chopped up some cheap deli roast beef and tossed it in with roasted mealy tomatoes. Actually, I had accidentally walked in to a neighboring restaurant and maybe I should have taken that as a sign, but I was really craving beef shawarma... unfortunately I didn't get good beef here!

Francisco J.

Yelp
The place is amazing I remember the first time I went there it amazed me with the food and over all the mango shake is my favorite definitely recommend

Nicholas C.

Yelp
Very good and decent prices. It's hard to find Halal in this area that is actually seasoned well with flavor but this one is good. I had the Gyro Fries that come with waffle fries which is different but welcomed. The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars was the portion size. The Gyro fries are listed as a main menu item but the portion was extremely small for a main menu item. It felt more like a side item. The fries were only $10.50 but they were so good I would have paid $15 for a bigger portion. I'll definitely give them another go in the future.

Kat Denise L.

Yelp
Ordered a Mediterranean veggie platter, a falafel wrap, and a large fry. The veggie platter was missing the garden salad, grape leaves, and Greek dressing. There was also only one red and one white sauce for the entire order. Really disappointed, but still giving 3 starts because the quality and taste of the food is good. The employee was nice as well.
