Wax Rabbit Speakeasy

This was, unfortunately, the most disappointing experience I’ve had in Las Vegas. While the drinks were enjoyable and the bartenders were friendly, the behavior of the bouncer was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Without any provocation—and despite the fact that I was not even speaking to him—he interrupted our conversation to question what language I was speaking. For context, I do not have any kind of accent. He remarked, “You kids need to learn to open your mouth when you are speaking and annunciate. What language is that?” This comment was condescending, inappropriate, and entirely unwarranted (especially when I wasn’t even talking to him). To make matters worse, he then asked us for $20 if we wanted to record ourselves walking into the bar. The entire encounter felt uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and not at all reflective of the level of professionalism one would expect in a hospitality setting. Wouldn’t recommend this place, 0/10 due to the security opening the door tonight (5/31/25-6/1/25). So, awful. Honestly, that guy shouldn’t work there.

Speakeasy at the Durango inside Mijo’s Modern Mexican Restaurant. Not easily hidden. You see the sign from the hallway. Someone will open the ‘door’ for you to enter behind a wall of alcohol. It’s a small space inside with the deejay straight ahead, bar to the right, booths to the left, and tables in the center. Has a dim upscale red and black romantic seduction/halloween/devil type of lighting. We sat at the bar and ordered an Espresso Martini and Wax Rabbit Old Fashioned. The martini was strong in alcohol that it sneaks up on you while all to taste was just the coffee at first. The Old Fashioned was interesting because it came off as sweet. Would have loved to get a second drink but we were too full from eating at Mijo’s. I’m starting to like more venues off strip, it’s not so crowded and you get a good mix of locals or guests that stay at Durango. The drinks are a few bucks cheaper too!

When I tell you I was having a ball then A WAITRESS NAME JENNA TOOK OVER AND WHEN I TELL YOU SHE WAS THE WORST BARTENDER EVER IN LAS VEGAS OMG THE FIRST BARTENDER AND GUY WHO OPENS THE DOOR TO LET YOU IN WAS AMAZING BEYOND WORDS ME AND MY FAMILY HAD A BALL DOWN TO FOOD NEXT DOOR AT MIJO BUT AFTER SHE CAME WITH THE GUY HELPING HER BREAK DOWN THEY WERE SO UNPROFESSIONAL WHEN THEY BROUGHT ME MY CHECK AND IT DIDNT MATCH WHAT THE FIRST BARTENDER WAS CHARGING ME FOR DRINKS JENNA TOLD ME THE OTHER BARTENDER WAS NEW IN WAS CHARGING ME WRONG WITH A RUDE ATTITUDE BUT BESIDES HER AND THE GUY HELPING HER HAD A GREAT TIME THEY WERE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL SHE EVEN GOT REAL NASTY IT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH BECAUSE DIDNT EXPECT IT

AMBIENCE: Intimate, dimly lit, velvet curtains & furniture. This place puts focus making sure you and your group have conversations than be on your phone. The DJ was excellent! That man had actual vinyl! Def my favorite part of this place. DRINKS: The paloma I was not for me, as I like drinks on the sweeter end. My friend actually liked it more and she ended up finishing it. OVERALL: Waitress was friendly and was able to accommodate our requests. The gentlemen at the entrance were cool too. If you get a chance, come in and grab a drink and just enjoy the vibe.

Super cute entrance! Beautiful, lush, red, intimate ambience. Great music and perfect size. Cute bar, good drinks. Perfect spot to chill and vibe with friends or date night.

So I walk in , and the bar seating is full but I don’t mind , I ask one of the workers for a table . He points to this little table in the corner , behind the DJ , so we sit , we see there’s many other tables open , so we ask the dude if we could sit there instead, and then he finally says yes , as soon as we sit down in a better table , the hostess comes up to us , and says the table is reserved. Which was confusing because the guy in the suit by the bar , said we could sit there . ( keep in mind , the place was only half full. Then she points back to the desk corner with two little chairs , saying we can sit there instead , so we left . I felt like the girl only did that because we are around the same age , so she thought we weren’t big spenders or were just young with no money ( which couldn’t be further than the truth ) . So I got up and left , and I will never step foot in Mijos or this clown show of a “ speakeasy” !

Went here for the 1st time for my best friends birthday. We absolutely loved it! The vibe was chill, the drinks were ssooo GOOD, and our server Dorothy was amazing! It's hard to come by good service now a days, & she was so nice, always making sure we were good, & made the experience so much better. We will definitely be going back!

We were excited to try the Wax Rabbit after our dinner at Mijo (amazing!). We had reservations but waited out front for 5 minutes to get in, got In and to our space and waited 10 minutes for a waitress to come over, hand the four of us a cocktail menu and rudely ask, “do you have reservations? There’s a two drink minimum” and walk away after I started to say yes. We looked at each other in bewilderment and left. Not worth the minimum $120 bill on drinks for bad service and unimpressive atmosphere. Go to Mijo and have your delicious food, drinks and amazing service there.

A perfect escape from modern life, offering sophistication and charm. Highly recommended for a unique night out. Jess and Amanda provided amazing service.

Had to find the newest speakeasy at the Durango Casino & Resort. If you're a fan of tequila, you've come to the right place!! I tried the following cocktails: Juan Collins, Mezcal Paloma, and the Wax Rabbit Ole Fashioned. I was very impressed with all three!! The service was excellent! The entire staff were very professional and courteous. Special s/o to my bartenders Lola & Amanda as well as Jess. The ambiance was very chill If you plan on going out for date night & have a few drinks with a relaxing feel, I highly recommend this local speakeasy.

My favorite secret hideaway in Vegas.. make sure Amanda & Pete are working tho and you'll have an amazing night with the best service. Every single cocktail was crafted perfectly and the ambiance is unmatched.

One of the best speakeasies for locals. It's located near Mijo entrance. Space is decent but you might have to reserve if you have a big group. Love love the atmosphere. So fancy. Such a perfect place to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night. They sometimes have a DJ later at night. Drinks were perfect. They made perfect expresso martinis for my friends! Service has to be the best here in the whole casino!! The staff were so friendly and attentive. They made sure we were having an amazing experience compared to the Durango lounge. I'll definitely be back during to the amazing service and staff here.

Speakeasy alert! This was a really neat speakeasy located behind a huge bookshelf near the entrance of Mijo. It's a tequila based bar. There's plenty of tables to reserve if you're willing to pay for a little more or you could sit around the bar. It's very dim inside which would be a great date spot or even a place to catch up with friends. Although the menu is limited, they actually have a bigger alcohol selection if you let your bartender know what kind of drink you'd like. You can even substitute the tequila in the menu drinks. My favorite is their espresso martini. The price point of their drinks were fair around $18-20 average per drink. It does get busy on a Saturday night since everyone started crowding around the bar area as there were no seats available.

Cute and intimate little speakeasy hidden behind a wall. It wasn't busy when there on a Tuesday night and the music was chill. Our bartender Rodrigo was very friendly and made a very tasty tequila old fashioned. I will def visit again so I can try other drinks.

Had such a great time here! Wax rabbit itself is beautiful, love the vibe in here and we also had the best server! Ask for Jess! She's attentive, funny and just made our overall experience so good! She always made sure we were satisfied with our drinks, offered water and came by frequently to check on us but not in a way that felt like she was bothering. The decor is thoughtfully curated, creating warm and sexy atmosphere perfect for a night out with friends or a date. One of the highlights of our visit was the exceptional service. Jess, our server, was incredibly attentive and friendly. She had great recommendations and ensured our glasses were never empty. Behind the bar, Lola worked her magic. Her cocktails were nothing short of spectacular, each one crafted with precision and flair. Watching her mix and shake was a treat in itself, and the drinks tasted as good as they looked. STRONG good drinks. If you're looking for a unique and memorable night out, this speakeasy bar is a must-visit. With its sultry setting, wonderful ambiance, and outstanding staff like Jess and Lola, you won't be disappointed. I'll definitely be back for another round!

Great drinks, great DJ, great vibe. Jess is the best server we've ever had. I would highly recommend this spot and her.

Our group of 8 made a reservation via email which was easy. We were checked in without issue and taken to our sofa lounge seating But the service and the quality of the drinks were subpar. They were also not consistent; our first round of tequila espresso martinis were missing the kahlua. They were also missing an ingredient so one of the drinks was completely off the menu. Instead of 6 drinks, only 5 were available. The drinks were not very *unique* aside from a tequila base for all drinks. Which is respectable that they have a "thing". They only had one menu per table, and somehow seemed to have a shortage of menus because they kept taking them away. We were all peering at one menu in the dim room and had to keep requesting them bring a menu back. I am giving this place 3 stars; I hope they improve based on reviews! But I do not think I will be back.

It's a hidden bar so that it's hard to find it tho . lol You can have a wonderful time there .

Drinks are amazing, my waitress Jess was AWESOME. I spilled some of my drink on my shirt and she was so sweet--brought out some club soda with a napkin for me to clean myself up. Thank you so much again Jess!

Now this is definitely the new spot! Starting with the staff, the manager Tyler made sure to squeezed us in at the bar where we had the pleasure to meet Amanda and Lola. These girls know their drinks. Started with the a shot of the Clase Azul reposado that was highly recommended as a great sipping tequila by the bartending. Throughout the night I ended up feeling adventurous and tried their Clase Azul San Luis Potosí mezcal, it was honestly such a distinctive flavor and enjoyed sipping it. We will definitely be coming back the drinks are exclusive and top shelf, the vibes are lowkey, and best of all what happens at Wax stays at Wax.

This is a little hedden Gem, you can't get here unless you have a reservation or know someone inside ! It very hard to find place the outside is all mirroired so when you walk to the front door you will not find a door and of course there ia door man once inside its packed . I found the place is too crumpt, too many people. You need to reserve a table if you are coming in without out table reservation you have to stand up at the bar which is packed full. I ordered dirty martin! Which was pretty good and the services pretty good but a bit long wait because they are always busy! The layout of the bar is pretty good nothing special. The music they play is not too loud and they night I was there they had a DJ. If you dont like small place that is crowded you wouldnt like this but you want to be part of something kind of selective, private, close proximity then you will love it.

Let's start by saying you may want to make a reservation for here because on a Thursday night this place was PACKED! We had to do standing room only and hope to snag a spot at the bar. Now that being said, the bartenders were SUPER fast! They easily got everyone drinks, made sure everyone had a top off, and were standing attentively waiting for whoever needed more. Definitely 5 stars to them!! I wanted to specifically try their specialty cocktails so I got: The Cloudkicker: I'll be real in saying the taste wasn't amazing I tried it with and without the cotton candy add in and it was just super sweet overall. I think the melon was just very overpowering which made it hard to drink. Wax Rabbit Old Fashioned: it's a decent old fashioned. It was kind of light for the price you're paying for it, definitely paying for presentation. Overall my big notes are that unlike most speakeasies I've been to, this felt like a club. The music was super loud to where we were yelling to talk to each other. If that's your vibe, totally cool! Just not what I was going for when I picked a speakeasy to visit. As far as the menu, we only tried out two drinks and weren't super impressed. I would definitely be willing to go back and try more! The big standout was the awesome service we recieved!

Giving this place a one star review. If I could give it a zero, I would. Super disappointed with the service. Currently writing this review since there was no honesty from the employees and we kept getting brushed off. We went here to celebrate a friends birthday and he wanted to check it out. We checked in with one of the guys in the front since they weren't answering their phones. Gentleman told us that we could get in and to also email the vip email that was provided to us to get in at a certain time. We did. We showed up for our time and kept getting ignored by everyone in the front for at least 20 minutes. Finally one of the workers acknowledged us after letting so many people in that didn't have a reservation. He told us that since we had an email reservation, we had priority. Stated to the gentleman that we weren't acknowledged and he said we were about to go in. Waited another 15 minutes after that. Ended up leaving. WORST SERVICE. Do better at a new casino. What's the point of having a phone number to call for reservation if you don't answer and what's the point of providing the email if you're going to ignore us. Definitely disappointed. OVERHYPED AND TERRIBLE. DO BETTER.

Speakeasys are my new favorite place to go and this one did not disappoint. Located in the restaurant Mijo at Durango Casino, this spot was the perfect stop after dinner. There is plenty of seating and spots at the bar, however on Fri and Saturday, it is almost a must that you make reservations because by the time we got there, around 9p, all of the tables were reserved for the night. Now another thing to mention is that if you get a table, there is a two drink minimum. If you don't want to worry about having to buy two drinks, you can always head to the bar where there is no drink minimum. They also have a DJ, I think just on Fri and Sat, if that is something you are looking for at a speakeasy. We were fortunate to find two seats at the bar where our amazing bartender, Amanda, hooked us up. I had the Hidden Passion and Espresso Martini, while my boyfriend had a gin and cranberry. The drinks were delicious and mixed well, not too strong but still had that kick. There was another bartender there, sorry I forgot her name, who made our first set of drinks and she was great as well. Customer service is very important to me and we received really great service. What takes this place from four stars to five. Great spot and will definitely be back.

Diego and Jess were amazing! They were so professional and sweet. We had the best time!! Jess even took pics of our group and was so knowledgeable about all the drinks. Top tier hospitality! We will definitely be coming back and telling all our friends to visit!

So, on this one, I had to give 2 stars. The first issue was the ineptitude in the reservation department. You can tell there is not enough communication between that department, the bouncer and the wait staff. My husband originally booked a reservation through an email that was confirmed (including the indication of a minimum purchase, which was fine). Several days later, he received a "sorry, we now have an event" cancellation, so we assumed we weren't getting in. Nonetheless, we arrived early for dinner at the Mijo restaurant, so my husband asked the bouncer if the Wax Rabbit was open yet for a pre-dinner drink and mentioned our reservation debacle. Turns out, there was no event that night, and our reservation for after dinner was apparently still intact??? The bouncer was super nice and said we could sit at a table while the rest of our party arrived. (He's the only reason I gave this review more than 1 star). Then the waitress, who was NOT nice AT ALL, said we couldn't sit there with MAJOR attitude, (mind you, there were maybe 5 people in TOTAL, as you can see in my picture) she then yelled at the bouncer, at which point he came to our table and said not to worry about it. (Head-slap emoji) Then the waitress came back and although we already knew what drinks we wanted, she didn't even let us speak, just threw down the cocktail list and walked away. I was dumfounded. Anyway, the drinks were your typical overpriced, small, Vegas style, something liquid to quench your itty-bitty thirst. After all, you are paying for the experience more than the alcohol content at these places...except we're (WAY) off the strip. The décor was okay, seats weren't the comfiest, but it was interesting to see. To top it off, when we were done with our one drink, even though we told the waitress that we were coming back after dinner for our booked table reservation, she wanted to charge us for a second round of drinks we didn't order, need or want (yet). Smh. we might give it another try since they may have been working out the kinks...and hopefully they have found a waitress with a more pleasant personality... We were there on: 1/27/2024

If there were more stars to give...I came on a Sunday night 6/9/24. Party of two and we sat at the bar. 1. Drink program here is AMAZING. Especially if you like tequila or (my favorite) Mezcal. I even shared my favorite mezcal recipe with them and they tested it and thought it was amazing. 2. The Dj spins Vinyl. For this town, enough is said. The popular Dj's on a strip don't even know what vinyl is... He was amazing! I wish I caught his name! Older classic hip hop jams to current and spinning with his artistic ear. I thank you to that man. 3. Staff, amazing Jess and Lola took care of us and they were wonderful and not only took of my party but the other parties were well attended. 4. Ambience was on point! I can not wait to bring all of my drinking buddies near and far to this spot. Thank you Wax Rabbit for being amazing and I hope to see you thrive here in town! Rooting for ya!

Sadly not a fan! Location: Wax Rabbit is located inside The Durango casino and attached to Mijo restaurant. Parking: There is a parking garage for the casino but you can also find decent parking in the lot right outside of Mijo. Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: The vibe is speakeasy and it had so much potential! Although it was small, it was still cute...as long as you have a reservation! Otherwise you will be stuck standing around the bar in a tiny space. Beverages: I had the Hidden Passion drink. It was good but nothing to be overly excited about. Service: We had a reservation and sat what felt like forever without a server to come take our drink order. Eventually she stopped by. I ordered the Hidden Passion as I had seen it and looked forward to the drink and also the cute aesthetically pleasing pineapple glass it came in. However, the server brought my drink in a basic glass. When I asked her about this, she said they didn't have many left because people take them. However, when I mentioned to her that I was excited for that as I had seen it on Yelp, her whole vibe changed, she had them remake my drink, and magically they had a pineapple glass available. I thought that was strange. Since Mijo was late with seating us at our reservation, it cut into our time here and we communicated that to the doorman and he said it was completely fine. However, whoever walks around placing beverage napkins, came up to us to basically tell us we had to wrap it up because the next reservation was coming. I communicated with him that Mijo caused us to be late for our reservation so therefore, we hadn't had our full time at our table here. He left and went to talk to the doorman and never came back to us, however, we were over that whole experience as well so we finished our drinks and left. Overall: Overall, I was absolutely not a fan of Wax Rabbit. The cute decor and speakeasy vibe does not make up for the service and lackluster cocktails. I hope this review helps you decide on where to have cocktails after dinner in the beautiful Durango Casino! :) Overall Rating: Solid 1 Star

This place is a hidden gem worth discovering. The ambiance is stylish yet cozy, making it ideal for both casual meet-ups and intimate gatherings. Our server, Jess, was incredibly attentive and personable, ensuring our night was seamless with their expert recommendations and warm hospitality. Behind the bar, Lola, the bartender, was a true artist, concocting cocktails that were both innovative and perfectly balanced. Their passion for mixology shone through in every sip. Together, they created an atmosphere where great drinks, friendly service, and a welcoming vibe effortlessly come together.

I want to give 1 star for both my terrible experiences but I had the same bar tender both times and ordered the same drink. So I don't feel that rating would be true or fair. I will say the ambience is nice. Chic library vibes in a dim lit cozy room is everything I expect and love from a classic speakeasy. Service was very okay. HOWEVER my espresso martini was terrible. The worst I've ever had. It tasted like the bottom of a shoe. I only ordered it a second time in hopes it was an off night. NOPE. But this time I had a friend with me and we felt like we had to choke down the drink. I felt both validated and disappointed. I can see a world where I end up here again but will definitely be ordering something else.

Came here for a friends birthday and loved it! The DJ here is amazing, all my friends loved their drinks, and our waitress Jess was the BEST. I'm stopping here every time I come to Vegas

Management can thank the guy at the door for this review! HORRIBLE first impression of this place. My parents and I were doing touristy things and I wanted to show them what a speak easy was. Security let us know after checking my id it's 1 drink min at the bar and 2 at a table (no prob), but I let him know up front we just wanted to check it out first because they had no idea what it was and were excited to experience a "speak easy". His response was "well we ain't doin that, we'd never have customers if that was the case." No problem sir, you just lost your bartenders a nice tip and what would've turned into a decent amount from our table. We immediately left and are now at BelAire lounge running up a bill because the hospitality before even entering was very kind and gracious Please get better service and hospitality at the door to greet potential customers vs run them away!

I'm a big fan of speakeasy's , so once I seen that there was a new one inside the Mijo, that is located in the new Durango casino, I had to come check it out. It is best to make a reservation through email. The place itself is nice inside and they have a great selection of tequila and mezcal. Service was good and everyone was friendly. drinks were reasonably priced .As for the drinks I ordered. I had the hidden passion and the Cloudkicker. Both drinks where good but if you put the cotton candy in the cloud kicker you might want to put a little in at a time because it does sweeten up the drink. I most definitely will be back since I only live less then a mile away.

During my recent visit to the Durango resort in Las Vegas, I had the pleasure of experiencing the Wax Rabbit. I highly recommend this establishment as it exceeded my expectations. The service, particularly from Amanda, was exceptional. Her personable nature and efficient drink service truly enhanced my experience. I would certainly return for both the quality of the beverages and the outstanding hospitality.

One word: Exclusive. This speakeasy is dark and sexy. They have a vinyl Dj that plays all the jams. I started my night off at the bar where Rigo and Amanda took care of me making me and my friends drinks and shots. The manager Diego even stopped by and introduced himself and was extremely personable. I love it here and can't wait to be back to get bottle service for my birthday!

The drinks and the service are both 10/10. It's a speakeasy so it is a cozier sized bar and lounge, which means reservations are a must to make sure you get in and experience all it has to offer!

I had the absolute best time at this hidden gem! Devin and Jess were so nice and accommodating. Amanda made the best and I do mean the BEST drinks I ever had.Lola was so king and sweet!. I am in love with this place and want to literally spend all of my weekends here. And lastly it's a total vibe! It's small and intimate. The decors is giving grown and sexy. The music makes you feel like you are in the 90's and I am so here for it! 10 out of 10 highly recommend!!!!!!

Went to Wax Rabbit after dinner at Mijo (which was amazing btw) and had the best experience. Our server was Jess and she was an absolute doll, just the sweetest and SO attentive. She made sure we were taken care of and made us feel so special and made our experience personal; like she was hosting us on her own girls night out. I feel like speakeasy places usually try to rush you because of limited seating but I never felt that at all. The ambiance was intimate and inviting. Lola was our bartender and let me tell you, the drinks were AMAZING and so cute! I had their tequila old fashioned which was perfect, and my friends had the paloma which they said was as good as it looked. Highly recommend this place. It definitely lives up to the hype and I cannot wait to go back. Thank you Jess and Lola!

Music was great, ambience is okay but nothing special. Bartender was rude. She was skinny, blonde, tattoos on neck I believe. Air conditioning must've been at 75 degrees or something...it was hot in there. Overall, not bad, but that bartender ruined the night for me.

It's a dope little spot! My girl and i came to her after hitting Mijo and were surprised at it! Good drinks and great Ambiance for date night! DJ was doing his thang! Jess was amazing! Very bubbly and excited to help. Definitely will be coming back. The only thing i would suggest would be live music or a happy hour for locals.
