D.C. Restaurants Will Miss the Typical Inauguration Sales Boost in 2021 - Eater DC

Google
We had time between scheduled tours in DC and decided to grab lunch nearby. Very happy to have found this place. We would definitely return. My wife got the ham and pineapple, which was probably the best I’ve ever tasted. I got the Butcher Block and liked it a lot. There seemed to be plenty of seating for the lunchtime crowd, with some of it outdoors. Give this place a try if you’re in the area. I bet you like it!

Veronica Holloway

Google
I love the name and the pizza 🍕 This location was conveniently situated by our Airbnb, just a block away. The staff was great and we enjoyed our pizza very much. We sat in the upstairs dining area which was clean and neat. Great job 👏🏽

Amy

Google
This pizza was fantastic! The staff was friendly, but most importantly, the pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had. We were very impressed and wish we had a We The Pizza near where we live. It’s a must try in DC!

Jaime Tant (Ginger In OH)

Google
While they were trying to serve a private party, they still provided excellent service to me. The pizza was perfect: crust was crispy and the cheese cheesy. I had the ham and pineapple and a slice of Detroit style while my aunt had the white pizza. We had nothing bad we could say, except that we couldn’t try them all!!! The artisan sodas are made right in front of you, not bottled or premade. That’s service! The cream soda was delicious!!! I’ll be back next time I’m in DC

Google
We were in the mood for some pizza and after reading the reviews settled on We, The Pizza. Lots of seating, simple order process. You can order by the slice or the pie. We ordered our daughter a slice and my wife and I split a pizza. It was very good. We had the mushroom and it had a lot of great tasting mushrooms on it. Only downfall is you eat upstairs and have to run downstairs to get another beer! They served us at our table. Not the best pizza I've ever eaten, but I'd definitely go back.

Alex DeMartino

Google
We got a slice of the ultimate cheese, forest shroom, spinach & artichoke and a Detroit cheese. The shroom was by far the best, it had an umami flavor without being greasy. Then there was the spinach which had a very garden feel to it. Followed by the Detroit because of the nice crispy cheese. The cheese was very basic. All of them were a bit dry and tough. If you are going to order from here get a whole fresh pizza.

Google
Consistently present in each top of pizza places in DC, and it definitely belongs there. Great space and a vast variety of ingredients. Must-visit for pizza lovers.

Cristina

Google
Right by the Capitol and Library of Congress. We ordered a whole pie of their cheese pizza, service was quick and they have plenty of outdoor seating. Pizza was good and was enough for us to have leftovers! It is a bit on the greasier side which I wasn’t a fan of. As someone who prefers less sauce on a slice, I felt that it had too much.

Yelp
very good ac saves life it really is nice though the coldness feels so good perfect for hot day

Yelp
Overrating it? Probably. I mean it's everything I want sbarros to be. And I'm not anti sbarros. But this is the same concept (premade pizzas that are heated up) but with much much much better pizza. Two slices go a long long way. Service was fast and we were an enormous group. I could have eaten a whole pie. Lots of different options and oregano packets available Not the best pizza on the planet but man was I satisfied. I would go back

Yelp
Love the pizza! Pricey, but delicious!! We had their version of the meat lovers. One small suggestion to the restaurant - When ordering online. You should have the ability to substitute toppings for free if you dont like a specific topping. You should also allow a "Build Your Own" version too!

Yelp
Always a good time and great pie here. We had an event on C Street and this location was top choice of all the eateries close by. The vote paid off. When you walk in, you can see all the choices. Different pizzas from buffalo chicken, to butternut squash with balsamic drizzle - I know it reminds me of Inside Out broccoli pizza, but my friend said it was delicious. I enjoyed a DC Brau with my slices of "Aces and West Cowboy"(sausage and perpproni) and Spicy Sicilian (salami, eggplant, and peppers) The beer and pizza were both very good. Plenty of room and various size tables for your various size parties upstairs. You place your order and wait until your buzzer goes off. Pickup is just right of the register. The staff were friendly and the order came out in a decent amount of time. This location is well within walking distance of the Capitol Building and other spots in downtown DC. Enjoy.

Yelp
We loved the name of this restaurant so we had to try it. We ordered two large pizzas and a large Italian Chopped Salad to feed 2 adults, 3 teens and one kid. It was slightly too much food. A large pizza is 16" and has 8 slices. We got 1/2 Forest Shroomin', 1/2 Double Pepperoni, 1/2 Bacon Me Crazy and 1/2 Butcher's Block. Everyone enjoyed the pizzas and had different favorites. We also got their specialty sodas which were all very good. When you enter, you order at the counter. Someone greeted us upon entry and answered any questions. Upstairs is abundant seating and restrooms. The restaurant is clean and well-air conditioned. Definitely worth a visit when visiting the U.S. Capitol. Just a short walk down the street.

Yelp
This pizza-by-the slice restaurant is our favorite. The staff is friendly and each pizza we have tried has been delicious! I recommend the Greek and the BBQ Chicken.
google avatar

Christina F.

Yelp
Pizza yummy and options abound. Plenty of seating. Salad was fresh. Price was reasonable. $26 for a large pizza that fed 1 adult and 3 kids. $60 with salad and drinks.

Yelp
This is a chain for a quick pizza near capital hill the bbq chicken and artichoke slices are gr3at NY style pizza. THE marketplace was over sauced. The green salad is pretty nice too.

Yelp
Pizza are huge!!! They have plenty of choices even vegan option. They have seating outside the restaurant and upstairs as well. We also tried their strawberry lemonade and it was really refreshing. I know I said the pizza is huge but we all finished the slice that we order. If we were not going to another museum we would be buying to-go . Love that they have Tv upstairs too so we were able to watch some tennis matches while enjoying our pizza.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with a large group. The restaurant was accommodating for us and the pizza was delightful. There were multiple options to pick from and even though we were a group, we were able to choose our style of pizza and not simply given all the same thing. We will come back when we have the opportunity!

Yelp
Our culinary journey in D.C. kicked off with a visit to We The Pizza, strategically positioned near the Capitol - a prime spot for anyone embarking on a tour. Stepping inside, a cornucopia of pizza varieties greeted us, showcasing the tempting array of choices. Opting for a 1/2 Ultimate Cheese and 1/2 White Pie concoction, our taste buds were in for a treat. Let's talk pizza perfection - the White Pie stole the show, infiltrating our dreams with its impeccable blend of flavors. The crust, a harmonious marriage of crispy perfection, provided the ideal foundation for the fresh and vibrant toppings that danced on our palates. It's safe to say that my wife and I are still reminiscing about that particular pizza experience. Aside from the gastronomic delights, the efficiency of the service stood out. Swift and seamless, our orders were swiftly transformed into piping hot, delectable pies. The dining area mirrored this efficiency - clean, inviting, and the epitome of comfort. The staff added to the positive ambiance with their friendly demeanor, enhancing the overall dining experience. In the heart of D.C., We The Pizza emerges as a haven for pizza enthusiasts seeking a no-frills yet utterly satisfying slice. For an authentic pizza escapade surrounded by the political pulse of the city, look no further than this culinary gem.

Yelp
We stopped by for the gluten free pizza unfortunately my wife can't eat tomatoes so the gluten free options actually don't work for her. However, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and made a special pizza just for us.

Yelp
We, The Pizza has been a Capital Hill stable for over 10 years at this point. It's consistent and tasty. It's about $7 for a slice which in this market I think is reasonable. There is something for everyone. My faves and recommendations are the Mushroom Pizza, White Pizza, BBQ Chicken Pizza and the Fried Chicken Pizza. The wings are also very tasty here. Give it a try. Note parking is limited here.
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza is amazing! I got The Butcher's Block pizza and the Capitol Supreme! The employees are very nice and helping in helping me decide which one of their homemade drinks I wanted to get. There was plenty of seating indoors and the tables were cleaned.

Yelp
Who gave this place 3 stars??? I'm from NYC, and I think this pizza could hold its own in the Big Apple. Absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Lou C.

Yelp
We'll, we didn't expect much, and our expectations were met. 5 bucks for a plain slice that had hardly any cheese, sauce was fairly tasteless, and counter staff were very sullen.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch one day while in DC. This was highly reviewed on Yelp. It did not disappoint. We got a table outside on a very nice day. Of note, there is a liquor store a few store fronts down the way. Although I have been disappointed in the past with slices, we ordered slices. Everyone got something different. I got the Hawaiian and the all meat. They were great. They had a whole section upstairs where we could have sat, but we were good outside. The place was nice and clean. The staff was nice and helpful. My kids say this was the best pizza we had in DC, I am gonna have to agree. I would go back.
google avatar

Leroy R.

Yelp
We needed up here after an evening of bar hopping and the pizza was so good! The service was quick and the pizza hot! It's a small space so grab and go would be ideal, but definitely try out this spot - you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Touring the Capital building and we stopped by here to sit in for a casual lunch. ATMOSPHERE: The seating is upstairs. It's quiet, and I liked that it was somewhat cut-off from the hustle and bustle of people ordering downstairs and the cooks. FOOD: We ordered a Spicy Sicilian slice and a Double Pepperoni slice. Both were just meh. The Spicy Sicilian tasted like it had been made a few hours ago and wasn't sufficiently warmed up before serving, and the crust bottom was burnt. The Double Pepperoni was better, but still nothing special and tasted stale. SERVICE: Our server took our order but it took a few tries to get their attention to place the order at the front. PRICE/VALUE: Reasonable ($5/slice) for how large the slices are. Of note, they have a "Lunch Special" which was 2 slices and a drink for $12.50 but it's only M-F, and only saves $1 compared to buying everything separately. Overall, I probably won't be making a visit back to this place again soon.

Yelp
Came to DC and needed something quick to eat for the night after a long ride from South Carolina. Pizza was absolutely amazing, hit the spot and was ready to pick up in no time. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for quality pizza

Yelp
Simple review: Food: DELISH!! We ordered a large cheese pizza (we have kids), and my husband and I ordered some specialty slices. I seriously wanted one of each slice but my husband wouldn't let me lol... neither would my tummy but that's a personal problem I devoured my white pizza slice before I thought to take a pic to leave a review The classic cheese pizza was tasty and the kids were happy. Service: Straight to the point. We preordered our large cheese while we were walking around the capitol and it was ready right on time. It's a pretty straight forward place, the employees were neither rude nor friendly... which is fine with me especially since you just order at the counter and go. Ambience: We sat outside but my husband said there was also an upstairs indoor seating area. It was clean and comfortable. We were visiting family so we definitely enjoyed the idea of being able to have some lunch in the midst of the hustle & bustle around us. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and the pizza was pretty good. Don't forget to grab a yummy chocolate chip cookie for after!

Yelp
Ordered pizza tonight, we ordered two pizza's a drink and a side. I went through the whole ordering process and then it say out of the area. (1.5 miles) Reordered from door dash. Pizza came to us wrong. Order ham on it and they put pineapple. Yuk! Called them and they said we had to go pick it up, but I said you made the mistake. You know how it is, no one cares about there services anymore. We are in a hotel, no vehicle. They also sent no plates or any condiments. Let get to pizza review, no sauce on pizza per say. Meat is okay on pizza, crust poor to average. Overall the pizza is not good. Just the look of it is poor. I would rate it below avg and terrible customer service. Need some quality control. PS ranch is terrible. Have you heard of hidden valley? Disappointing for sure. I would say go else where

Lisa W.

Yelp
Ordered several pizzas for my colleagues today at work at 10:45 AM.. The pizza was set to be delivered at 11:30 AM. At 11:35 AM I received a text stating, sorry your order has been cancelled, please call us at a 202 number if you have any question. I called and phone just continued to ring and no one picked up. Very disappointed in their poor customer service and would never order from them again.

Yelp
My son and I decided to take a day|evening trip to DC. I told him to research places to eat and things to do while we were there. Our intentions were to spend the day in DC, but we left Philly pretty late. He researched and found We, The Pizza. We arrived in DC around 6:30 pm, found parking pretty close to the restaurant and was able to go in and order fairly quickly. When you walk inside, you are able to see the majority of the pizzas they make | sell. You can buy them whole or by the slice. I was able to peruse the pizzas and make my decision. I wish they had a pizza with BBQ sauce, Grilled Chicken, Mozzarella and Onions. (My Favorite Kind of Pizza BTW) I ordered the Simple Cheese Slice and my son ordered the Ultimate Cheese Slice. I also ordered the Wings (6) in the Dry Rub Seasoning (which wasn't very dry rub as it felt like BBQ sauce, but still delicious). My son ordered a fountain drink and I ordered the Dreams Are Made Of Strawberry Lemonade (I thought it was plain lemonade, but it was fizzy like soda). I definitely would order it again. Our pizzas were very tasty. My only issue was they put our slices in the same box and by the time we received them, we couldn't tell which was which and I think we managed to eat the other's pizza. I loved that the restaurant had indoor and outdoor seating, which meant we didn't have to eat our slices to go (although you certainly could if you wanted). Indoor seating was upstairs and the area wasn't too loud | obnoxious. The women's bathroom was nice and tidy. However, I had a hard time locking the stall that I used. They also would do better with a more high powered hand dryer. Otherwise, everything was perfect. My son and I was able to sit enjoy our pizza without feeling rushed by the employees and other patrons trying to find seating. We will definitely return on our next visit!

Joseph B.

Yelp
Offers good slice pizza in both Detroit and NY style (lots of store options). Liked the Detroit a lot and thought regular NY style cheese was good. Service was good but took a little bit due to needing to reheat the pizza. Lots of seating upstairs and was clean.
google avatar

Arielle W.

Yelp
Ordered via Uber while visiting. Got the white pizza which had great flavor but was cold upon arrival, garlic lemon pepper wings were well done as requested but the meat tasted old. Garlic knots were tasty but drenched in grease and butter. Got a salad that was good and a reese's cookie which was great. Thought the quality of the food would've been better for the price.
google avatar

Daniela B.

Yelp
Known for their pizza's... don't Sleep on their Salads. Delish! Ordered the large Caesar w/ chicken which serves 4-6 ppl for $28. The portion size and toppings were well worth the price. The salad was crisp and fresh.
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
Great spot to grab some pizza! They do large NY style slices here and have a variety of interesting toppings. There's also a lot of fun soda mixes here too. I got a slice of the double pepperoni, garlic knots, and a love is a lychee rose soda. Everything was delicious and the price was very reasonable! The pepperoni pizza was a little bit too salty, but the garlic knots were SO GOOD. They were covered in a buttery garlic sauce and came with a side of marinara to dip. The soda was really good too, it had a true lychee flavor. Not the best pizza I've ever had, but definitely a solid option. I'd come back here for the garlic knots for sure!
google avatar

Khoi N.

Yelp
Awesome pizza spot thats open late. My friends and I stopped by after a night out on U st. We ordered everything from the cheese, double pepperoni, buffalo chicken, and the white pie. The cheese, sauce and dough were just right. Textures and flavors were on point. Price per slide is reasonable as well considering the quality and ingredients vs the traditional jumbo slice in the area. The staff here really nice. I love their extended menu and they have a little bit for everyone.

Robert R.

Yelp
The place has really gone downhill There are a lot of Great pies in this town so sometimes it comes down to service and when the manager lies to you find a Great Pie with Great Service! I'll update this review when I find a Pie that don't lie! My order was I complete the We The Pizza driver did not speak English. When I called We The Pizza I was lied to about my order. I waited 21/2 hours and I called back. I still don't have my food -some guy calling himself Kevin put me on hold so while I waited I wrote this review. When I called back the coward wouldn't even come to the phone
google avatar

Tony C.

Yelp
Best pizza in DC? Probably. If New York is your thing this place is tasty. Crispy crust and a slightly sweet tangy sauce and the cheese ? Wow!
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
This was catered for my work. The pizza was good, better than the average chain. It was a softer slice, which might be a problem for some, but I enjoy this type. It was so good, I had to take a bite of the pepperoni slice before I snapped a pic. The pepperoni was better than at chains too, not too greasy and nicely thin. Would order from again!
google avatar

Thomas C.

Yelp
The bathroom experience was very standard. It had no smell and the soap was generic, My only complaint was the wet floor and the dirty sink.

August O.

Yelp
I ordered a pizza from here and it was good. The meat was a little bland but everything else had very good flavor. The deep dish style is quite nice and works well with all of the pizzas on the menu.
google avatar

Diana T.

Yelp
Nasty, unhygienic, objectively bad pizza with terrible service to boot. This is a fast casual place, with emphasis on the casual because the service took forever to bring up our order. We used to come here any time we had family in town visiting the mall, but we'll be going to eastern market from now on.
google avatar

Matt F.

Yelp
We've been hearing about this place for a while now from different folks over on the socials. Actually walked by a few months back but never went in. Today was finally the day to try it! Clean inside, outside seating as well. Cool open ceiling, large selection of premade pies as well as custom and a good variety of their own premium varieties. They even have a full on vegan sicilian pie that looked delicious! TONS of veggies on it NO CHEESE! Did not try this time but will have to try the next time. As a family we had a large salad (enough for us all to have a little side salad serving there's 2 adults and 3 kids), slice of pepperoni and a large We the Pizza Supreme. DELICIOUS! Crust was perfect, toppings were plentiful, sauce perfect amount and flavor. Same with the cheese, not too greasy not too much. Craft soda and beer available as well as fountain soda and water. We will be back for sure! If you are like me and have heard of this place, walked by it and never stopped in do your self a favor next time you're near Chrystal City stop in and grab a slice or a pie!

George D.

Yelp
The food was really good there margarita pizza was good I loved their sodas their homemade absolutely delicious the only thing is that we sit outside
google avatar

Norris S.

Yelp
My order was not only 45 minutes late but the delivery driver left our pizza in the alley on the ground. The app said delivered. Skeptically we looked on the porch. Nothing. My son had the idea that maybe they left it in the alley. We scoffed of course because who would leave a pizza delivery on the ground, in an alley. Lo and behold he looked and there it was. Covered in ants. They were nice enough to discount out any covered pizza by half. Which did me no good when I had to order from another pizza place. Never again.
google avatar

Sari M.

Yelp
"Fast food pizza" that was enjoyed by all in our group. Large glass display of all the pizzas, and if you're in luck they will be pulling a hot one out of the oven. I ordered the white pizza and it was great: big hunks of mozzarella, slightly greasy, and flavorful. Would definitely reorder. Limited seating downstairs so we just left the stroller down and found ample and spacious seating upstairs. Cute decor and vibe.
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
We went basic for our first order from here - one pepperoni and one cheese. And we were not disappointed. Both were yum and good quality pizzas. Delivery was quick too. The crust was good. The pizzas were evenly cooked. Just the plain cheese pizza had a good amount of flavor. The pepperoni pizza was loaded with pepperoni - huge slices of it and great quality. We'll definitely be doing pizza delivery from here again. And I look forward to trying some more adventurous pizzas from here.
google avatar

Alicia Y.

Yelp
The Pizza was delicious and the slices were gigantic!! They have traditional toppings and some gourmet toppings as well. The customer service was excellent! We were not aware that this location was a pickup place only, but there were tables outside to enjoy our pizza and chat with our family. Highly recommend this pizza for flavor, good value and the crust consistency. They also have a sit-down restaurant near the Capitol, but we didn't have time to travel there before they closed.
google avatar

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Really good pizza and salad. The slices are huge with great topping choices. The staff is super nice.
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
Simply Amazing. The amount of possibilities in their pizza slice window is Cray! Each slice seems portioned for giants. Taste alone is worth a 5 Mike walk for.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
I'll be thinking about this pizza for the next ten years probably. My friend that lives in the area kept talking about We, The Pizza over and over and when I visited her I finally ate there and... wow. Now I'M going to be talking about it over and over as well. I got a slice of the spinach & artichoke pizza, which was delicious, but for me the real star of the show was the white slice. It's super cheesy, has some sort of roasted garlic paste on it, and is somehow mildly sweet? I may have just been imagining that last part but either way I am OBSESSED. I also got a Very Very Sour Cherry soda that was delicious. They pour syrup into the cup and then just add a bunch of soda into it, and I've never seen soda made like that! I wish I lived closer to DC simply so I could eat here more often. 10/10 would recommend.
google avatar

Clare O.

Yelp
I hate to give a place during covid such a low review, but it's really reflective of the food. We ordered three slices of cheese slice, white slice, and ultimate cheese slice. (To test out the different pizzas). And also wings in case we needed some back up food. So the food arrived in a surprisingly short amount of time (like 45 min early). Upon arrival, the pizza was cold, but the wings were warm. I threw the slices in the oven to nuke them. Wings were okay but lacked flavor and were greasy. Pizza was edible after coming out of the oven, but nothing to write home about. It seemed like they'd been sitting out for hours and weren't even warmed up to be sent out. The flavor for three different slices also wasn't great. They literally all tasted the same except a slight variation because the white slice had ricotta. I ordered here because they had such high reviews while making pizzas for the guard, but I'd have pause to try them again.
google avatar

Hannah C.

Yelp
3.5 stars seems right. They offer a big variety of by the slice options as well as full pies, many with interesting ingredients. I got a slice of the Forrest Shroomin' and I appreciated the strong truffle flavor, but it fundamentally felt a bit overcooked to me. This is a common problem in by-the-slice places, and if you usually don't mind that overly crispy crust and slightly wilted toppings, you won't mind here either. That said, it's a cheap and quick lunch. My slice was ready in just a few minutes and there's plentiful seating (including outdoor seating). Not a bad option if you're on the run, but there's definitely better pizza options in the city.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Bathroom was immaculate only hand dry blower though. Pizza was good with large variety of selections. Cookie chocolate chip was good as well but not warm at all. Slightly greasy though. Very very cute interior which was clean w a lot of seating. Very impressive for a pizza joint. Service was ok. Slightly hard to communicate with.
google avatar

Dan F.

Yelp
This place was great! Lots of different choices for pizza and it was really crispy crust. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Graham L.

Yelp
The pizza was dynamite with tons of different options on toppings. A slice for everyone and cool ambiance upstairs.

Yelp
After walking 20,000 steps around DC, our last stop was going to be We the Pizza. We did get a bit lost on our way and by the time we arrived we were famished. We all said "it better be worth it" and it was. It was a nice day so we grabbed a table outside and then went in to order. I love the fact that you can order by the gigantic slice. That way you can try a couple of different kinds and they heat the slices up individually. It was a nice place to enjoy a beer, some great pizza and people watch.
