"Okay, this opening isn’t a restaurant per se, but it will combine two things people go feral for: Wegmans and omakases. While Wegmans is, in fact, a grocery store where you can grab a rotisserie chicken and exceptional chocolate chip cookies, the Manhattan location (second in all of New York City) will also have an expansive seafood restaurant inside the store with its own omakase counter and oyster bar. Having a sit-down omakase meal and picking up your favorite alt-milk don’t sound like two things you should be able to do at the same spot, but there are definitely weirder things around Astor Place." - anne cruz

"Set to open at 1932 Broadway between 64th and 65th streets in a former Bed Bath & Beyond, this Wegmans appears to be in the early stages as crews clear out the previous tenant; it’s planned to be 58,000 square feet — smaller than the Astor Place and Brooklyn Navy Yard locations but still larger than the average New York–sized Whole Foods. When the long-term uptown lease was signed there was discussion that the lease was a “personal investment,” though reporting said the lease is guaranteed by Wegmans, and Glenwood Management noted Wegmans has been working on the space for months and said it “will be a significant operation and include sushi.”" - Melissa McCart
