"You'll need to ring the bell to gain access to this restaurant in the lively and bustling Bahnhofsviertel. The interior is exceedingly chic: in the large, bright, high-ceilinged space done out in a minimalist, urban style, decorative works of art add interest. From almost anywhere in the room you can watch the chefs in the open kitchen as they go about their work, conjuring up a set menu comprising four or six modern and creative courses out of choice ingredients. The beautifully marinated, firm-fleshed ikejime salmon trout, which is served with fresh buttermilk stock, marinated radish and lightly smoked trout caviar, is full of flavour and really packs a punch. Jochim Busch, head chef at Gustav (this is its sister restaurant), and sous-chef Daniel Pletsch are at the helm here. The waitstaff are friendly, professional and well organised – the chefs also help serve and explain the dishes. The wine recommendations are spot-on – there are also interesting wine pairings to go with the set menu. Tip: Be sure to stop off for an aperitif or digestif in the charming garden to the rear of the building." - Michelin Inspector

Sommerfeld - SilverKris

"Ingredient- and season-led menus here demonstrate restaurateur couple Matthias Scheiber and Milica Trajkovska Scheiber’s “less is more” culinary philosophy, with plates that appear simple and often use only a few components that collaborate with each other rather than compete for attention. Furnishings at this one-Michelin-starred restaurant mirror its service, being warm and inviting while exuding an air of understated elegance." - Alethea Tan

Back in the financial Capital of Germany: Frankfurt. Although I only had one day of preparation I was able to catch a table in not one but two Michelin Star restaurants, and this is the first one, the wonderful „Sommerfeld“. First class service and good food is something you can expect while visiting a restaurant in this category. Sommerfeld adds warm kindness and and a family like welcome on top of this. The evening for me was a carefully orchestrated voyage through excellent food and carefully selected wines in an atmosphere that fulfilled de definition of hospitality in the best possible way. Thanks for a wonderful night out.

For those who want a quick review : Overall I enjoyed the experience, the only dislike is the 20-30 minute wait between dishes. The food have a wide variety of flavors. Service is amazing and interior design was also amazing. Actual Review : The service was very impressive, we arrived a little early before the restaurant opened and the front door employee was very friendly and welcomed us in immediately. The waiter was very informative and answered the many questions we had without losing patience. The room was also very nice to look around, I think I walked around a bit after we ordered and admired the walls and ceiling art. The food is a different story. I would say half of the dishes are amazing, easily 8/10+, the other half are little to be desired. The food took way too long to come out and the portions were rather small for a tasting menu. I would say we spent almost 5 hours at the restaurant averaging 20-30 minutes per dish, I know that tasting menu's are not suppose to be large portions but everything was basically 1 bite and the wait time is too long for how little food is served. They also charge water per bottle so be wary if you plan on drinking a lot of water. (as a party of 5 I think we drank about 8 bottles of water during our 5 hour stay and we charged 6-8 dollars per bottle).

Never encountered this kind of Michelin experiences, not just the food, but also the entire journey was just so comforting and warmful!!! The Scheiber couple, who runs Sommerfeld, intended to create a relaxing atmosphere at this cozy place, and it's such a great success, as everyone of us was totally comforted. The Sommerfeld journey started with appetizers, Cauliflower tarde, and followed by Salmon trout (tomips and elder berry). And 1st official dish is "Young kohlrabi" (Verjus, peas, dill), the crispy verjus along with powdered texture peas, plus the sauce, perfect combination. 2nd dish was "Grilled white asparagus" (Breton oyster, Kosho vinaigrette, flaxseed), the only thing I can comment on this dish is that I tasted a grilled flavor that brings the freshness of white asparagus to whole another level. 3rd dish was Arctic char (Lettuce, horseradish, borage), the meat itself was so tenderly cooked, while the texture of salmon still was well kept. The main dish was "Guinea Fowl Breast & Leg" (Summer truffle, leek, smoked sour cream), breast's solidness and leg's chewness , served with the seasoned leek, OMG, it tasted so amazing 😍 As to the dessert, Rhubarb butter ice cream (Herb broth, white chocolate), and Sour cream ice cream, cherry and verbena, both were the perfect endings of your Sommerfeld journey in 2025 summer 🌞

Wonderful experience in Frankfurt. It deserves another star next year. The place is sort of hidden in the middle eastern sector, and the interior has the old high ceiling structure decorated with a modern pop culture approach, which brings some freshness to the dining experience. The courses were based on the traditional German dishes with a touch of modern sensation. The flavors were well balanced with the elegant appearances. Thanks for a wonderful evening you offered!

Food was overall good. Wine here was exceptional. The beef was tender and juicy just right. Service was great and with good interior design. The desserts was great, really love it. Only some dish were too salty though. Advance reservation is a must.

I really enjoyed the food however I felt like the food serving times were a bit off. When we arrived, we were the first to be seated and served, however, about halfway through our meal, it felt like the time between dishes coming out slowed down quite a bit. The second and third groups came in about 15 minutes behind our group but they more or less finished their meals simultaneously. Aside from that, the food was very delicious and if I did have the chance, I would come back to try it. I also enjoyed that you could choose between sweet and savory on the tasting menu. Although I am a person who does not really enjoy the taste of mushrooms, the others flavors made up for it. The first dish was a soup which I believe was slightly tart. After that, we got served what I believe was an egg tart with ham, which was also served with a salmon mix on top of a chip. We got served some bread which was nice and warm. After that, we got served a slice of salmon in a tart mixture. This was probably the best part of the meal as all of the flavors went well with the fish. I don't remember what the next dish was, but it was some sort of vegetable. After that, we got a white fish which was followed up by a mushroom dish. Before the desserts came out we got served a slice of beef with a soy glaze. At this point, we were given a choice between sweet and savory. As a sweet tooth, I enjoyed the sweetness more. However, if you prefer savory, the other choice was the way to go. Before we left they served the last parting item which was some sort of cake that was crispy and had a cream and fruit mixture on top.

We enjoyed a 6 course menu. Not all courses were equally great. The interior is beautiful yet casual so we could feel at ease, not stiff at all. Clear advice on wine but not very talkative.

Nice ambiance and friendly service. We had the full tasting menu which was filling. They were able to accommodate the menu to be fully pescatarian, which I appreciated. Perhaps slightly overpriced, but still very good.
