14 Essential Colorado Breweries to Visit in 2022 - AFAR

"A nationally lauded brewery since opening in 2015, it has earned numerous awards for its inventive lineup—most notably the flagship IPA Juicy Bits—and is known for imaginative, ever-changing IPAs, sours, and imperial stouts (think Watermelon Cotton Candy Sour or a smoked lager brewed with jalapeños and lime). The brewery also hosts an annual WeldWerks Invitational Festival that showcases barrel-aged beers from around the country and donates proceeds to local Weld County nonprofits." - Bailey Berg

Google
Excellent beer and tasty food! I got a flight of hazys recommended by the bartender and each was delicious. My girlfriend tried some sours and liked them too. We ordered the loaded fries and they were very tasty. Plus a big serving size.

Google

Google
This place has a cool vibe and was hopping on a Saturday afternoon. The 2 hotdog plate with slaw was delicious, a bargain and can feed two. Their Pilsner is cold and refreshing.

Google
Great place, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. Just wish they had more Malt options for us IPA and Sour haters. Got their Foamies though, it was very good!

I first came to Weldwerks in 2019 while traveling to Greeley for an event. I didn't like beer, but my friend convinced me to try a flight. I tried it, I loved it, and now I stop by Weldwerks every time I'm in Colorado. I got the Korean ribs and a flight, and enjoyed them on the patio with my dogs. The sours are consistently my favorite, the Fruit by the Ounce available now is fantastic but my all time fave is Lime in the Coconut.

Google
Look, the beers here are solid. Epic. Globally known. So can we accept that and pivot? Let’s talk about the damn fries at this place. Whoever is grinding the garlic and pepper onto the fries deserves a promotion. Head Pepper Master. Whatever. These are super solid. They make the beers just a touch better and make the days brighter. Cheers to the pepper boy (or girl or person) for adding yet another feather in the cap of this badass brewery. 👏

Google
One of my favorite beer choices.. when I can find it, I definitely had to make a stop at the physical shop while in Colorado... Great outdoor space, decent sized taproom, kitchen, merch, view of the operations. Overall a great spot. Weldwalls was getting underway this day as well.. cool event! Had to run with not 1, but 2 fights and absolutely nothing disappointed. IPA heavy for me, but layered in a few other tasty choices to see how they do outside of my norms. No complaints. Will 100% be back.

Google
Great place, great beer, the food is amazing! I had the coconut cream cheesecake beer, it was delicious! All of our food tastes completely fresh made, like seriously fresh cut and prepared that night. I had the Korean chicken sandwich which came with a cucumber salad, very good. My husband had the grilled cheese and butternut squash soup. Had to be made that day. My son ordered fries, I swear they were fresh cut. Super good and highly recommended.

Yelp
One of the best breweries in the country! Out of this world beers and food! Service was friendly and helpful. Ambiance was cool and open. Cannot recommend this place enough!!

Yelp
This is definitely our go-to brewery when in Greeley. They always seem to have a good selection of beers on tap we enjoy. This time, I was surprised to see they actually had FOUR stouts on tap, so of course, I had to try a flight of all four. Here's how I ranked them: 1. Little man salted Oreo stout 2. Salted Carmel brownie stout 3. Speculoos Cookie butter milk stout 4. French toast stout My wife agreed and enjoyed a pint of the Little Man Salted Oreo Stout as well. Great, family-friendly vibe with some good-looking food too. They've also got a huge outdoor tent area when the weather is nice outside. You can't go wrong with Weldweks.

Yelp
Our favorite brewery! We stumbled upon WeldWerks in 2019 while in Colorado for the Great American Beer Fest (GABF). I had heard that WeldWerks was supposed to be good, so we took a trip up to the brewery and were absolutely floored by all of their beer. We were then very pleasantly surprised that they were the most visited booth at GABF that year and it was well-deserved. Flash forward several years and WeldWerks is truly our favorite brewery. We've been to the brewery several times (every time we're in Colorado) and it's been great to see them continue to expand their selections and open up their kitchen, which is pumping our great food. We've even flown to Colorado for last year's WeldWerks Invitational, which was one of the best beer festivals we've ever attended. I have no idea how they do it, but they can capture flavors in their beer that other breweries just can't accomplish. We've had cheesecake beers that truly taste like cheesecake, bomb pop sours that bring you back to your childhood, and sours that truly taste like fresh pie. Their IPAs are also some of our favorites and their BA stouts are on another level. The most amazing thing too is that their beer somehow stays fresher than beer from other breweries and we've had 1.5 yr old canned sours that still taste fresh. We live near Nashville, so they unfortunately don't distribute here except on rare occasions, so it's a rare treat that we get to have their beer, but we stock up when we visit and we highly, highly recommend WeldWerks to anyone who enjoys good beer.

Yelp
Great beer and amazing service! Bartender Kacey took the time to ask us about our day/lives and that's what will bring us back. Total gem in Greeley!

Yelp
This place has epic sours! The Mezcal Barrel-Aged Margarita Sour was outstanding! WeldWerks is extremely popular. Be prepared for big crowds, limited seating and a line for beverages and food. There doesn't appear to be table service, you need to stand in line and order your food and drinks from the bar. There is a large indoor area and a large, covered beer garden type patio.
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
The beers were great and you can get a flight. They have a great covered outdoor area for people and their pups. A really nice hangout spot
google avatar

Liz G.

Yelp
Weld works is the brewery to be at. Especially if you enjoy sours, always plenty of options. Seating gets tight during popular hours, but they have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Isabel W.

Yelp
Awesome place! I had one of their raspberry coconut vanilla sours at a pizza place in Denver and liked the beer so much I decided to come to the brewery and sample other flavors. The beer is so flavorful and unique. Key lime white chocolate sour?!? Who even comes up with these? The food is equally as good as the beer and not your typical pub/beer garden food. The atmosphere is so welcoming and fun. Clean and very friendly staff members. I love they have an outside sitting area in the parking lot for overflow and a more comfy seating option. I will definetly be back with friends!

Yelp
Greeley's hidden gem. WeldWerks really delivers great beers and incredible food. We visited recently while in town to see our daughter at UNC. We were looking for a place to sit out in the sun, grab a bite to eat, and have a cold beer, of course. WeldWerks knocked it out of the park on all accounts. Beer: Wow, 24 or more taps of great beers, unique and funky. We got two (4) 4oz sample flights. So a total of 8 beers, and we enjoyed nearly everyone. They ranged from mild to wild. I mean boba sour, yes, it's great! Food: Smaller menu, so we ordered damn near one of each. Everything was a 5. The schnitzel was so authentic my daughter, who had just returned from Germany, commented, this is just like being back in Deutschland. The Burrata was fresh, and all the fixings were so flavorful. We also had grilled cheese and soup, I didn't think this could be elevated, but it was so good. Finally, the simple french fry. Yes, they made it better. Lemon oil, coarse salt, and pepper with an aioli that reminded me of Belgian Frites. Yeah, it was that good. Patio: Huge, lots of cover if you want that, but plenty of sun if you don't. Dog friendly too. The indoor space was excellent too. To put a bow on everything, they have a fantastic staff who are super friendly and very helpful. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Weldwerks is far from a secret, a destination spot for any craft beer lover for years. You know them for their reliable hazy IPAs like their flagship Juicy Bits, as well as their impressive barrel aged offerings like Medianoche. They rather recently opened up The Annex, which produces some of the best food in the area - don't sleep on the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. It's a great space whether you're inside or out, with a friendly and helpful staff. If you love craft beer, you can't go wrong.
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
I'm updating my review but keeping the 5 stars! Weldwerks continues to impress with their variety of delicious beers, including some collaborations with other stellar breweties from across the country. They have also expanded their patio and added a small menu of creative bites. On our most recent visit, my husband and I shared bacon mac n cheese and eggplant caponata toast with frisee and two sauces and it was all amazing. We also ordered a flight of sours and an IPA collab with Other Half Brewing out of NYC. It's always exciting to see what is available in the taproom and I've learned not to turn my nose up at even the funkiest of beers. A banana sour sounds bananas...but it has become a favorite! You can't go wrong here!!

Yelp
Doodoo smell & lactose beers. This place smells like actual feces. It's also really easy to brew a good tasting beer when you put lactose in it (which is basically ever beer they make). This place is an actual joke. Who wants to sit outside and inhale microscopic particles of feces?! You people are INSANE to offer patio seating. To really think that someone could even possibly enjoy a beer on your patio while smelling FECES is beyond baffling. WHAT. A. JOKE.
google avatar

Yelp
WeldWerks has always been a family favorite for their amazing beer. And of course, the beer didn't disappoint. I really enjoyed the pistachio beer. It was so unique and tasty! I think about it sometimes and wish I had it closer! The service was also really good here, the bartender was so nice at helping us with all our needs. Super thankful! Lastly, we tried some of the food from the Annex inside the brewery. It was okay. The food was really good quality, but the taste was a little off for us.

Yelp
Really love this brewery's beer. I'm from out of town, so it was the first time going to the actual brewery. Ambiance was great and super easy to order food and beers. It is a bit chilly inside so dress accordingly. The whole place, including the bathrooms, were clean. I had several tasters via flights (4 beers per flight) - have to try everything! My brother and I both got the cheeseburger that came with some greens (dressed with seemed like just some olive oil, salt, and beeper). GREAT burger. Really hit the spot. We also split a side of fries that came with an aioli that I think would go on just about anything. We didn't finish all the fries - they were great though. All the food coming out looked amazing. Staff were super nice and helpful. Overall great experience and wish I lived closer!

Yelp
Amazing selection of beer! And all are delicious. Highly recommend the holiday red ale. Very spacious and spread out. The food is delicious, small menu but everything is clearly made with pride. We had outstanding service. Large selection of merchandise to purchase, and beers to take on the go. My suitcase home is now closer to the weight limit.

Yelp
Great place/ space for hanging out. Beers and food are great! Flys everywhere. But if u don't mind then this is a great place!
google avatar

Juanita L.

Yelp
I just loveeee WeldWerks! They have the best selection of sours & stouts compared to other breweries. By far my favorite thing is THEIR FOOD!! They have the best food and service. Every item on the menu is 5/5 - our go to are the burger, gyro and soup!

Yelp
This is a recent restaurant that opened in Downtown Greeley. It has popularity, and I've known people from the Denver area make trips up to Greeley just for WeldWerks. I dined here on Wednesday, June 14th. This place serves homemade beer, since the restaurant is also a brewery. I ordered the Colorado Ale, and it's far better than bottled and canned beer. For food, I ordered the double cheeseburger that comes with a mixed greens salad. The beef used in the burger was exceptionally high quality. It was cooked to perfection, and it was quite juicy. The salad used very fresh lettuce and it had a savory dressing on it. I was impressed. The service was fast and professional. The ambiance was beautiful. The dining room was spacious and modern. The patio was loaded with flowers. You also get views of brewery itself. It's nice to find good restaurants in Greeley and Weld County, since the area desperately needs them. I highly recommend this place for visitors in the Greeley area. Residents in Weld and Larimer counties should try this place as well. I'd even recommend Denver residents to come up here to try homemade beer at an affordable price. It was only $5 for the Colorado ale. I've been to bars in Denver that charge more than that for Bud Light and Coors.

Yelp
WeldWerks is a great stop if your in Greely. Tucked back Just north of downtown this place makes great foot and their own beer. The burgers are fantastic and the hot chick was a hit with the family. Last visit my girls grabbed the pulled pork tacos and they were packed with meat. Not what I expected and I mean in a good way. Plenty of room to sit outside and enjoy the afternoon. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
While in Greeley for the weekend my husband and I figured we couldn't stay in this area without stopping by the famous WeldWerks Brewing. Known for their unique beers - especially their sours and stouts - WeldWerks is clearly loved by many. And we were quickly reminded of that when we showed up at 3:30 on a Saturday to see a large line wrapping around the ropes up to the counter. Luckily, it doesn't take that long to pour beer, so we were quickly at the front of the line, trying to choose from a huge menu of funky beers. They seriously have every combination of flavors you could ever dream of, which I truly appreciate. I ended up getting a tasty stout, as did my husband. We amazingly found a seat next to another couple who were kind enough to share their table. When we tried our beers, we were both taken aback by the super sweet, strong flavors, which we had to sip on for 30 minutes - 1 hour in order to drink it all. They weren't bad by any means, just some strong, sweet beers that we weren't quite prepared for. Next time I come here, I'd love to get a flight to try a bunch of their different beers, because they had so many to choose from!

Yelp
I love this place! We have been coming here for a bit - and every time we venture up from Denver there are more surprises. Love the addition of the food/kitchen (menu attached). We ordered the truffle fries which were delicious! I went with a taster of four IPAs which were all really good - (if you're not on untappd you should be). The staff here are always so great - extremely friendly, helpful, happy to offer advice/opinions. Every visit here is always great - also love that you can order single-cans of beer -yay!
google avatar

Cristina N.

Yelp
I come for the food. My husband comes for the drinks, and we always leave happy! Their lemon fries with Aioli sauce was the only item I saw repeated from the last time we were here. Besides the Tokyo Dog tasting just okay, the tostadas and the shrimp scampi we tried on our last visit totally made up for it!
google avatar

Hannah N.

Yelp
A quick weekend trip to visit family brought me to this super awesome brewery with an amazing selection of sours which was perfect for a hot summer day. I really wish they had a tasting room in San Diego because I really fell in love with some of these beers that in my opinion tasted like a fruity afternoon drink more than a beer! They have a large in door and outdoor space with a small food menu but all of the options sounded great and we ended up ordering a few things to share. I will have to visit again next time I am out there.
google avatar

Ben W.

Yelp
What's not to like. Beer is great, inclusive environment, and the food was better then expected. The burger was really good and the ice cream was a nice treat. Their hazy ipa's are amazing.

Keith W.

Yelp
Just a wonderful experience. Our beer tender a younger girl who's name escapes me ( I'm sorry for forgetting your name) because I had to good of a time was great. I didn't eat the food but every person that eat around us said the food was delicious. Great outside patio and cool murals on the walls.
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Food was good for a brewery with a small menu. The service was great, everyone was friendly. The sour selections they had were honestly great!! Mind boggling a bit because you would never think a blueberry cobbler to be a flavor but it is and we loved it!
google avatar

Alicia P.

Yelp
Absolutely worth the drive!!!! We have been waiting to drive up after trying a couple cans we found here and there, and today we did it! And man has it been amazing! We were greeted with friendly smiles and high fives! There's a ton of seating, inside and outside and free WiFi! There's not a ton of outlets inside but definitely a good study spot if you have a chargers computer. I'd also add that it was chilly inside so wear your jacket to enjoy the beer! My wife and I each got a 4 beer flight, and every single one was unique and tasty in their own way. I can't wait to come back to see what new brews they have!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been living in Colorado for about a year now, and I think popular opinion on best brewery in the state is Outer Range. However, I visited WeldWerks Brewing this past weekend and OH MY LORD, they had some of the best beers I've had while living here. Coming from the East Coast, I'm a big fan of IPAs. WeldWerks had about 8 IPAs on tap, some double, some experimental. The three IPAs I had were outstanding. I would 100% drive an hour back to Greeley, just to go to WeldWerks again. I highly recommend 'Dad Nap' and 'Tropical Lightning Storm'. I also had a double cheeseburger which was pretty solid (came with a side salad) and their fries were top notch.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
This brewery is worth the trip! So many options for a variety of beer styles. My boyfriend likes IPAs and I like sours and we were both able to find several options that we loved. I had the Orange Creamsicle Cheesecake sour and the Strawberry cheesecake sour. Both were not too sour and had a nice creamy taste, delicious! I bought a can of the Root Beer Float Stout to go. It was good too but on the sweeter side. I would only ever want one can at a time because of its sweetness.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
If you're willing to make the 1-hour drive from Denver, this brewery is known to brew tastier than normal beers, therefore trekking out could be worthwhile. I'd say it is worth it... We did order 2 flights of tasters from a menu with a multitude of styles and choices. And took some bottles home to boot. They are really known for their pastry stouts (aka diabetes). Most do not realize that they are brewing some solid IPA's too. From the classic West Coast to a hazy and of course the experimental dry hopped IPA. They do a spectacular job on the latter, creating a unique beer, not that uniform kind where each "new" IPA tastes so similar to the last (*cough* Modern Times *cough*). Here the flavor profiles are distinct -- the aroma bursting and the tasting notes well defined. With these breweries, no one really cares too much for the core beers -- only their exciting new releases, every week, it seems like almost. But, their Tasty Bits -- which they certainly dry hop on occasion -- is extremely satisfying. Bright tropical notes with rivulets of piney bits. Oh, and the blue-green beer looked mesmerizing enough, but tasted awful. An oversight, I'm certain. As for their sours, they weren't exactly anything to rave about, but solid enough.
google avatar

Alden C.

Yelp
I've had several beers from Weldworks and I must say I really do enjoy their beer! My latest beer was a collaboration beer also done with Listermann Brewing which I also really enjoy. Pocket Treats was the name of the beer, a triple IPA and indeed it was a hoppy treat! Juicy Bits was also an IPA I had and yes it definitely was juicy but very enjoyable! But my favorite thus far that I've had from this brewery is the Coffee Coconut Stout. Being a fan of coconut and a really big fan of coffee this stout was a real hit with me. The flavor profile was great, featured clearly present in the namesake of the beer. It was a real joy to drink!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
WeldWerks was a bit of a haul from where we stayed in Denver, but the drive was totally worth it. Their beer is so good and the staff might be the friendliest I've encountered at a brewery. They are more than willing to offer samples until you find the beer you want (or just so you can try extra stuff, they were that cool). Chill vibe and excellent beer - what more could you want?
google avatar

Jake J.

Yelp
One of the best Colorado breweries I have been to they make some crazy styles sours and stouts
google avatar

Carolina H.

Yelp
I live in denver and had heard great things about this place! We finally decided to drive out there and visit. And let me tell ya.....we were not disappointed! Very unique, fun flavors! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
Stopped by on a rec from someone we met at another great Greeley brewery..and the sour beers are good here! I tried the guava lime gose and the blueberry cobbler! They have flights here, so be sure to try a few before committing to a pint!
google avatar

Skye K.

Yelp
Best brewery I have been to ever. Love the beer and the atmosphere. And let me tell you the FOOD! SO GOOD! We come here at least 3x a week.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Cheesecake and kid's cereal in beer? Oh, yes, my friend. If you like very creative sours and/or IPAs, this is the place to be! I tried a WeldWerks brew at a restaurant in Denver. It was listed as a "Cherry Cheesecake Sour". I was skeptical, but sure enough, it legit tasted like actual cherry cheesecake. I ordered two more before leaving and then my partner promptly looked up the brewery online. He scrolled through the current offerings on tap, laughed and said, "Well, looks like we're making a trip to Greeley because you are going to LOVE this place." We made the trip. We drank flights, we drank pints, and we took a lot of beer home. We are planning another trip this weekend to do more of the same. This is by far my favorite brewery ANYWHERE that I've visited and I'm so glad that they are right here in CO.
google avatar

D B.

Yelp
My favorite brewery with my favorite beer - Juicy Bits!!! Always a treat when we get to visit WeldWerks, from the service, to the beer and the yummy food offerings...YUM!
google avatar

Morissa P.

Yelp
Great place for gathering for special occasions. The schnitzel was very good and the sauce excellent! Lots of beer on tap to choose from too. It gets a bit noisy inside but not overwhelmingly so as to prevent people from hearing each other. I just wish they had more low tables.
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
Without question, this is the best new brewery I've tried in years! I loved that the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. They were willing to discuss beer and provide excellent suggestions without dismissing or making you feel like you were just another number. Next, there wasn't a beer I didn't love. I ordered a wide array of samples and no matter which category the beer fell into it was just really, really good. It's been a long time since I've been to a brewery where all the beers were at such a high level. Finally, the atmosphere was really good. I should say, the option you want. There is the main room then the patio and also the tent. We opted for the tent but all three were excellent options depending on your mood.

Tom F.

Yelp
Excellent Marzen & Juicybits! Huge outdoor patio with food truck. Very cool inside! Recommend!
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
First time going up since Covid and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with the social distancing they offered! Plenty of outdoor space, an outdoor tent, and limited indoor. I will say nothing will beat the olden days of packing that taproom to the brim on release days but happy it's safe and they are able to continue to serve their fantastic beer! They also seem to have done some upgrades since the last time I was up. Their whole patio looks fancier with new wrought iron decor. I liked it! All in all a great (and possibly only) reason to visit Greeley.
google avatar

Tierrah B.

Yelp
Went by myself after work with low expectations and was super surprised how delicious the beer and tacos were ! I will bring my friends with me next time for sure

Matt H.

Yelp
Had the Hefeweizen, it was nearly perfect flavor profile. The brat was excellent with the cucumber salad and homemade sauerkraut. Beer came quick as did the food. Excellent atmosphere on a Saturday night. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Jarred F.

Yelp
Good brewery overall, except they decided to phase out Acromatics, their adjunct stout program, and just make them all Medianoche, their barrel aged lineup. Problem is, most of them are overly adjuncted to the point that often a sludge layer settles to the bottom. Fanboys call it being "blessed". I call it disgusting and amateurish. Dare I say they need more R&D for their pricey, hyped up Medianoche lineup. Stick with their hazy IPA's which they do well, despite many other options from other breweries that are just as good.
google avatar

Ben N.

Yelp
There is an ample selection here, mostly IPAs and sours. The nuisance of hose to beer varieties is lost on me. But then I noticed... a California Common, "Commonly Uncommon" and a barrel aged strong ale. "Barrel Aged Derby Day" The Cali Common was a new type of fermentation process I'd not heard of before, apparently using lager yeast but at ale temperatures. At any rate, it was a smooth, very drinkable ale that was coppery in color and had light caramel notes. Derby Day is a strong drink, over 14% I believe. Yet the smoothest drink of that ilk I've had. I could sip the strong ale all day, and end up on my face if I did. I'd be back for sure, if this were my home town!
google avatar

Todd R.

Yelp
Came on a Friday evening, but no matter when you come it is always fast, friendly service. A huge selection of beer. Ample but very noisy indoor seating and lots of outdoor seating. Music was good for two songs, but then turned to that rap crap. Disappointed that they were out of Long Bones Mexican lager, my favorite. About everything else is too hoppy which then eliminates the great taste known as beer. But that's the fad for some time now. The double cheeseburger is always fantastic and my wife's go-to. The French fries are awesome. I had the brat, it was fine; the "in-house made" sauerkraut that came with it was disgusting. It was nothing like sauerkraut. It tasted as if the cabbage was chopped up and soaked in perfume, and then dehydrated. The cucumber salad that also came with it was pretty refreshing. Side note: if you need ketchup, mustard, extra napkins, etc. and to=go boxes, they are located on a self-serve stand inside. Also there is a water dispenser (free!!) and glasses.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Unique beers - smoothies, flavors, etc. Love the variety but service was lacking some.
google avatar

Jake K.

Yelp
Coming from St Louis where we have some amazing craft beer and traveling tasting a lot of great craft beer... Weldwerks is probably in my top 5 best craft breweries I've been too. Did not have one bad beer. Beers are easy drinking and flavorful. Brewery has a great atmosphere and vibe. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Get the Banana cream pie, and the Froot Camps. They taste as good as they sound and look.

Friend of mine lives just down the street from here - dropped in to grab a few cans of a darker german style beer that I can't remember the name of, I believe it was a bock. Anyway, what I do remember was that it was absolutely delicious. Sweet, malty, not boozy.. all of the things you want from a heavy hitter dark german. No complaints at all. Juicy bits is honestly one of my favorite beers around and I am happy to report that it is fresh as can be (plus several fun variations) right from the brewery. Can't wait to stop in again next time I'm in town, thanks guys!
