At 3:25 pm, February 1st, 2025 I attempted to purchase food from Wendy's located at 1940 Piedmont Rd. in Atlanta GA. I did not have a lot of time. I could see that there was a long line in the drive thru so I went inside where there appeared to be no line at all. I placed my order. Two gentlemen were also waiting for their order to be received. As time passed, both of them started talking about how long it was taking. I did not realize it until I looked at my receipt that I had been waiting 14 minutes and none of us received our order during that time. I politely asked the cashier if I could just get my money returned. Without saying anything she returned to the kitchen until another customer came in to place an order. Once she had finished the transaction with that customer, I asked her again "Please, if I could just get my 12 dollars back. You have the register open". She said she could not do that and returned to the kitchen. After waiting for another two minutes, I said in a loud enough voice to reach the kitchen, asking her again for a refund. I heard a male voice say he was cooking the food. I asked him for a refund, and he just repeated that he was cooking the food making it sound like he was too busy to address my request.
17 minutes had passed before I, not having time to wait and realizing neither of the gentlemen before me received their food, needed to leave. I left without food or the money I paid for it.
I heard the male say "Have a good day" as I was exiting.
It is astonishing how poor customer service has become. I understand being very busy. I too was on a tight schedule. I was thinking I could pop into a fast-food restaurant and be on my way. But instead, I had my money stolen from me and then was harassed by the thief on my way out of the door.
I'm sure nothing will come from this, but if this store starts underperforming, now you know why. I doubt that it will since it is at a very busy intersection and there is always another sucker.
