AMBIANCE AMBIANCE AMBIANCE is beyond underrated. What a hidden gem in the Bay Area! Oh and their match latte was creamy. They also have wine and beer available at this cafe for those who prefer that over coffee 🤤 Such a great place to sit down, vibe out or study.

An awesome shop that my mother was excited to show me. Wish I was in town longer so I could go back again. Such tasty pecan rolls and coffee with lovely art. I'll see you on my next visit!

The staff are all so polite. The food is REALLY good. French fries 100% perfect. Seasoned perfectly, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. I recommend you choose the outdoor seating in the back because it's the most perfect seating area ever. I sat near the fountain, my shoes got wet but I was too focused on the food. First time we sat w/o talking. Went here a second time and the food just wasn't as good as before. Bacon was dry.

Great spot for breakfast. We got breakfast sandwiches and they were hearty, well prepared, tasty, and simple. Coffees and hot chocolate were good. Highly recommend

This is such a great place. It's design is so cute. Its a train station. It has ample seating for everyone. You always see the locals here. The food and pastries are home made. When visiting I always got moms oatmeal. I tried the chocate croissants and the cheese Danish, amazing. I tried their green monster drink. It is hethy and delicious. Everything is made when ordered so it is very fresh. The service is outstanding, some of the best customer service you can get these days. Overall rating is excellent!!

I love this place! The inside feels like a local gathering spot. Kind of loud, but very friendly with smaller tables, outdoor tables out front, and a large wooden table with benches. I mostly sit outside in the patio. It is serene with plants and a fountain. There are there are a couple of large tables with benches under a tin roof, and more cozy tables tucked around the garden.

Amazing coffee and art! Even on my cortado. Coffee is delicious I was not expecting this quality. If your around the area Wescafe is a must. Don’t even get me started on their sandwiches incredible.

Surprised I haven't reviewed Wescafe yet! Wescafe has been a staple cafe/restaurant on Alameda's west side for a long time, and we've been here a number of times over the years. Including today, on the eve of 2026, to fuel up for a day and night of ringing in a new year. NYE is always a big deal to me as I, perhaps naively, hope for a better year ahead. This is a cozy spot for breakfast or lunch. Cozy, but not cramped. Nicely laid out and tastefully decorated. There is ample seating, inside, as well as on the lovely patio/garden in the back, but it does get busy. The place is popular, and for good reason. The menu has something for everyone: Breakfast plates, bagels and breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, frittatas, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. They have an extensive menu of espresso drinks, so if you like coffee, this is your place. Also, fresh squeezed juices and smoothies, wine, and beer. A hardworking group of people keep this place running smoothly, despite how busy they get. When you visit, say hi to Pepe, and tell him Andrea and Richard sent you.

(Written by my daughter.) SMOOTHIE WARNING!!! Imagine a world where there is only one fruit, ORANGE. I went with a fellow friend to this place. We have been here a few times before and the food is bomb (also had normal smoothies in past.) THOUGH today me and said friend ordered a peach, and mango peach smoothie. When we got it, it tasted so much like orange, we were convinced we took the wrong drinks. The smoothie was so overpowered by orange that I could not taste the peach. My friends smoothie had both mango AND peach, yet hers was even more oranged out. I asked a lady behind the counter about it and she said "all of our smoothies are orange based." Couldn't tell if she was lying because she herself made it, or it's true, and any smoothie you get here will have no flavor other than straight orange. Nowhere on any sign, or verbally did they warn you with orange. Imagine someone is allergic to oranges and dies when they drink their "strawberry banana" smoothie. All in all, the smoothie is fine if you like orange but if you dont, DONT GET IT!

Stopped here for a quick brunch before an event in Alameda. There was a line of about 10 people but it moved quick, the staff is definitely hustling when it's busy! I had an iced Mexican mocha that was delicious, definitely recommend. For food I got the chicken and pesto sandwich, which was tasty. I did think the chicken was a bit bland, and could have used more pesto. Also the sandwich was so hot and the parchment paper seemed to have melted a bit into it, so had to dig some of that out. Overall a solid option if you're lucky for a quick breakfast or lunch.

Casual dine in cafe with indoor and very limited outdoor seating. The ambiance is very serene yet vibrant; I love the calming energy and vibes here. I had tried the caramel latte, chai tea latte and some pastries, one of the best that I've had. I can't speak for the other items as I've not tried it yet but I look forward to next time. Aside from food and drinks, they have a small selection of WesCafe merchandise shirts on the side wall; there are other candles, tea, mugs and other little trinkets for sale. The staff are very kind and polite; they go above and beyond to make sure that your order is right. It's obvious that they take pride in what they do. I love their positive attitude and energy. I am looking forward to trying something new on their menu, next time around!

Walt from Walt's Adventures currently adventuring in Alameda, California and I find myself at the Wescafe. This eatery has street parking and both indoor and outdoor back patio seating. Our party ordered and chose our experience to be stationed in the back for it was covered and serene. Their menu items were not extensive but sufficient for too many choices can be exhausting. Their food was quite good. I would highly recommend this restaurant for their primary focus was relaxation. Both their Inside our outside environments had a sense of tranquility. 4 of 5 for their timing was not in sync during our visit. Each of our selections arrived at different times and beverages were purchased individually. If you're looking for an alternative to the usual but just a place away from the hustle of the city then look no further than Wescafe.

Only ordered the I you juice. It was good, it was freshly juiced. Only two notes: (1) 3 huge chunks of beet that slipped through (honestly, this isn't that big of a deal and if this was it, I'd give the juice 5 ) however (2) my bigger wish for this is that I wish it was cold!! It was room temp, which is why I give this juice 4 stars

A real place to eat in Alameda. I got a breakfast burrito here in 2021. Usually I get eggs, home fries, and toast here. The Location isn't the closest to The College of Alameda. A hidden gem in The East Bay.

It's a sort of cool, interesting place with a super nice patio out back. It's always busy with a long line to order, and very loud. However, their quiche is to be avoided. It's dry and tasteless. They seriously need to find better recipes. Go to Julie's Coffee & Tea on Park and try theirs. They have a great patio, too. A couple of times it seemed like 2 or 3 more minutes in the oven would help, as it was as soft and wet as lemon merangue pie. Wescafe has really big menu to choose from. Check it out online first, before going in, so you won't slow up the line!

I like what they are doing here but it is not on point. I wonder if they eat their own food. The steak sandwich was very difficult to eat. Way too thick and hard bread. Everything just squished out. Also it is not steak. It is a small amount of chopped beef with cheese. There is more lettuce and bread than anything else. I'll give it another shot and try something different next time.

I have been coming here for over a decade and it has become one of my favorite places to get coffee and breakfast. The staff are always so friendly and helpful and the food is very good. The coffee is tasty as well! They even have beer and wine so it's a great place to visit no matter what time of day. They have a very peaceful and pretty back patio that I enjoy spending time in. I love this place and recommend it to everyone!

I live walking distance to wescafe for 15yrs, I decided to give it a try one morning for breakfast. I randomly search where to eat for breakfast, I wanna try something new. No regrets! The food was excellent. Fresh and tasty. The ambiance is really nice, clean and classic vibe. The service was so quick. We're there for total of 40mins . Definitely will go back.

Great cappuccino this morning, the photo is of my second one as I drank the first one before I thought to take a photo. Lovely cafe, with a nice vibe inside and out. Nice people work there, too!

Cute outdoor patio -tranquil with the water fountain. Plenty of seating indoors and out front also . Staff are super sweet! Plenty of street parking and a paid lot for $1/hour in the back of the restaurant. Mushroom quiche was bomb! Quiche . Salad. Turkey sausage -approx $14.00. Lots of variety for breakfast and lunch on the menu! Strong WiFi..plenty of ppl working on laptops and a handful here just to enjoy. There's also a tv at the bar for sports / news fans.

Casual dine-in café with outdoor seating. You place your order at the counter, and the staff brings the food to your table. The team is friendly and welcoming. My breakfast was delicious, and I loved the latte art on my coffee. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable--I really liked spending time there with friends.

Stumbled upon this magical place just strolling down the street and was pleasantly surprised! Got an amazing dirty chai! A super tasty burger and very friendly staff!

The sweetest workers. Food is good not blow you away but decent. Bagels are amazing though food is fresh.

WesCafe in Alameda is an excellent place to grab breakfast and lunch. This yummy Alameda staple is great to get food and yummy pastries on the go or if you're pressed for time. You order your food at the counter and then they bring the food to you. They have a lovely patio outside to enjoy when the weather is nice. Their WiFi is strong so you can get some work done if you need to. This is my go to location when I'm really hungry because their chorizo hash breakfast is so yummy, filling and hits the spot! Their breakfast burritos and coffee are legendary! They also sell beer and wine. Another great aspect of this sweet cafe is that they sell artisan crafts from local artists so you can shop for items if you need to buy a gift for someone or treat yourself. Did I mention they are a family owned Mexican American restaurant and as a spunky Chicana I love to support my people and they know how to cook EVERYTHING SO WELL! Check them out next time you're in Alameda on the West Side near the Webster Tube! 10/10 would recommend!

Great space and they allow dogs in the large patio in the back. I also like that you can order at the counter so it's great for a groups. They give you a number and you can sit anywhere you like. I got a spinach and feta burrito, which was very bland, but luckily they provided hot sauce. It was piping hot though. There are restrooms in the hallway, and there is a parking lot in the back of the place.

It was raining when I left the nearby Alameda farmers market c. 11:30 AM, and it was cold. So, as I walked up Webster from Haight and came upon this warm & welcoming cafe, I couldn't resist. Years ago, I would duck in to buy a newspaper. However, that is no longer possible - everything is online. grrr My next thought was a hot, steaming cup of cocoa. yep The place was full but there were still available tables, seats at the counter. As soon as I stepped up to order - with no wait - my memories of how welcoming and cordial the staff is at Wescafe came back. I ordered, easily paid at their state of the art terminal and walked back to the counter area. There were several empty seats, so I used one to off load my tote & other bags full of f.m. purchases (the grapes are so good now in late Oct.). My cocoa arrived in a few minutes; it was just hot enough and very rich. yum There's a humungous TV screen on the back wall across from the counter but, thank goodness, they keep the volume very low. The noise volume of the other patrons was also surpisingly low. It was extremely cozy to sit and sip my hot drink. This business has kept all its best qualities over the years and is still very reasonable.

I came here on a tip that this place has the best burrito in the island! In short I think not! But still delicious! I'd come back for it when I have the craving. I usually don't like beans in my breakfast burrito but the bacon was crispy and it was the saving grace. This cafe is awesome, cute, and seems like a great place to work from. When you dine in, they give you a number to bring your food to you but I had to come up to get my own latte. There's plenty of space in the cafe and there's a super rad backyard open space with lots of space.

My fav place to work & relax been here for 17 years & just the sweetest family & oasis. Food is simple & fresh. service is wonderful, & just great spot all the way around.

Honest to goodness just had THE BEST iced vanilla latte here, and its not the first time! While adding a food item to a coffee can make your total a little pricey, the quality of the coffee drinks makes it worth it. The staff is also very nice, and the place is super cute with some local gifts to browse as you wait!

A neighborhood gem in Alameda. Breakfast was delicious. Very affordable. There is a patio area in the back to enjoy your meal. Server was friendly.

Had a big brunch a couple weekends ago with a good buddy here. Ordered an omelette w/ hash browns and toast and a latte. Everything was cooked perfectly and yummy. Lots of eggs in that omelet! The wait staff was friendly and helpful when ordering. We enjoyed the simple outside seating on the sidewalk while also enjoying our meal and company.

It took 15+ minutes to get one breakfast sandwich. I know this isn't McDonald's but that's ridiculous. Never coming back. I used to love this place.

As I was killing time for work I decided to get breakfast locally. The decor is very nice as soon as you see the business. Tables outside, inside, and there's a patio in the back as well. Love the aesthetic and the local flavour of the atmosphere. I love that's it's local owned, fresh produce to the quick eye, and a nice place to study or catch up on some reading while you enjoy your food. You are given a number and you have the freedom to sit anywhere you'd like. Tables were clean. Food was pretty spot on. I got the Grand omelette. There's other omelettes names with local names and I like that. There's not much vegetarian options. That food temperature was on point. Flavour and seasoning were good. One is not given an option of bread, or at least I want informed. Price is reasonably priced for the portion and for what it is. Potatoes were nice and warm. Bread perfectly toasted with a dash of butter. The omelette was so nice and went went with the bread. A big chunks of sour cream is given to you. Once finished i left my empty plates on the table, as I saw others doing the same. Service was a bit odd. The staff members seems to do things with a futile attitude and somewhat rude. Would come back for breakfast and try other omelettes.

It was poor. We won't go again. Very disappointing. Huge menu spread too thin. Great place to skip unless you want to be underwhelmed. Awful waffles and burned coffee are the hallmarks of this dive. Generally empty despite a huge seating area, NEXT!

I went there for the first time on Monday, and was very disappointed! I usually don't review places unless I really love it or really hate it. In this case, I hate it. I've lived in Alameda for 10 years, & always wanted to check out this place. My friend and I meet there. It took 30 mins. to receive my bagel (that was over toasted by the way.) It took an additional 15 minutes to get my smoothie. I felt mistreated. My friend and I both checked in at the counter to ask. We just got a response of "it's coming." I saw people being served that came in after me. I was very kind and patient. The guy bringing the food was nice. The issue is the men behind the counter. By the time my 1 bagel came, and drink, it was near closing. It's safe to say, I won't return here. The customer service is poor, and the food that I got wasn't worth the price of $12.

The sweetest staff ever. They always remember my order and my son and I. There are SO many options on their menu, which I love because I tend to change my taste day by day. However, I always order a Green Giant juice and a side of French Fries with whatever else I get They also speak Spanish, which is nice because, for me, it makes me feel at ease and home when we converse. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Decorated nicely. Features beers from local breweries. They also support local schools!!! Love this place!

First things first, the young lady at the counter was pleasant and professional. The white chocolate mocha was delicious! But let's talk about the 1 star! I noticed an available table At the front, but it wasn't clean so I asked a gentleman behind the counter If he could clean it. he wiped it twice with a wet rag and left all types of food on it. Apparently the rag also had no soap or disinfectant on it either because and whatever rag he used had no disinfectant on it because when I went behind him with my Lysol wipes they had loads of dirt on them. Whether you believe in the pandemic or not, we can all agree that the spread of sickness is caused by lack of cleanliness! I could only eat a small portion of my meal because if you are so careless with cleaning tables, I can't imagine what your kitchen looks like. I will not return!

Food and drinks are hit or miss here. Today it was my Mediterranean salad. - No Dolmas, - They used large green olives with pits, - Cucumber was unpleasant and too bitter to eat. I was looking forward to dolmas and some kalamata olives (like the picture shows online). At least with kalamata olives the pits come out pretty easy. These green olives can't be eaten with a bite of salad. I threw out the cucumbers because the bitterness overwhelmed everything else. Not the end of the world, but it leaves me disappointed when my food and drinks aren't what I'm expecting :(

I am so impressed with this delightful cafe. The selection of food and drinks is killer. Everything was delicious and fresh. The service is top notch. And you can't beat the ambiance of the patio with historic waterfall! Great place for dogs! This place is a GEM!

The island city of Alameda, California is filled with an abundance of coffee shops that serve a wide variety of pleasing coffee drinks, for Wescafe it's all about a coffee shop meets marketplace meets cafe/ greasy spoon vibe. Located on the city's westside on the bustling Webster Street, Wescafe has been located at this location between Haight and Santa Clara Avenues for a decade now, ever since they moved from their smaller location a block north, which has since been occupied by Signal Coffee Roasters. In my quest to visit every purveyor of coffee beans in the island city, I suggested to a friend that we head here for a brief stop after a lunch that we also enjoyed at a nearby restaurant on Webster Street. Parking around Wescafe can be a challenge especially along Webster Street as all of the parking meters do not park here/ tow away. We decided that since it technically was a holiday, and we were going to stay for a short while, while we sipped our coffee, we should take a chance and park across the street. Upon entry to this newer and updated location of Wescafe, one will instantly be surprised how large the interior is, with multiple glass cases of fresh pies, both sweet and savory, breakfast and lunch dishes, as well as giant cookies galore. It's strictly fast casual here at Wescafe where you order at the counter and they either give you a number for their staff to deliver your food to your table, or they simply call out your drink order when it is ready, which was our situation. I have to admit, I was not expecting the wide array of menu items that Wescafe serves up on a daily basis, as they sandwiches sold at an average price of $9.50, breakfast entrées all sold for 10 dollars or less, various large salads, and a Bar menu featuring traditional items such as bar bites and hamburgers. But since we already ate, we were steadfast in our decision to order coffees to enjoy in their cafe and there were an impressive 12 options of hot coffee drinks to choose from with three size options. My friend ordered a medium Cafe Latter and I opted for a medium Mexican Mocha, with our total bill being a bit under 8 dollars before tip, which was rather reasonable. As we waited for our drinks to be prepared we managed to find a table for two that was available, but we did have to bus and clean it ourselves as there were still previous cups from a former diner on it. Once our drinks were called out by their baristas one by one, my friend's latte had a delightful bear face impression made out in its top foam, and I received an extra dollop of whipped cream on the top of my Mexican Mocha. With subtle hints of cinnamon, I downed every sip of my coffee down to the last drop. We took in the atmosphere of Wescafe, as it was part sports bar with sports playing on one television behind the bar, bar cafe with people being served their lunch items by their hardworking staff. It was actually fun to take in the people watching as tables enjoyed brunch entrées, burgers, and sandwiches. And boy did they look good as they all seemed handcrafted and hearty and well with the 10 dollar price tag. I am so happy that Wescafe expanded their operations along Webster Street and is now even thriving in their expanded home. Where else can you get handcrafted smoothies and milkshakes along with a pint of beer and glass of wine? I can't wait to order all three the next time I visit. Not many in my estimation, and Wescafe is keeping it local and affordable despite all of the challenges thrown their way in this day and age. Wescafe should not only be patronized by locals and out-of-towners alike, but celebrated for thriving as long as they have!

Their sausage breakfast burrito was better than I expected (4.5/5 stars) and I'd be happy to get one again! Unfortunately the strawberry custard danish (2/5 stars) tasted like the pastry was made from a mix (or premade dough bought at the grocery store).

Quick service and extensive brunch menu. They serve brunch till 1:30 and then switch to an extensive lunch menu. Both plates we tried were good and they do serve an array of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Their strawberry shake and Italian soda were both delicious. Several seating options inside and outside. Perfect spot for brunch or lunch. Parking is street only.

I love this place! I discovered it recently and really enjoyed everything about it. It was bustling in a friendly way, with a varied menu from specialty coffees and smoothies to mimosas and really great food menu items. I had one of the best BLTs I've ever had! Staff was friendly and efficient and great garden patio seating. What a find!

Lox bagel was completely inedible. It had massive chunks of tomato (yes, not slices), old cucumber, and.... White onion??? The lox was essentially torn up scraps and only on one side of the bagel. It also smelled old. Bagel was crunchy and the cream cheese was like plastic.

Counter person was ok, but the guy bringing our food to the table was kind of abrupt and he pulled our silverware out of his jacket pocket...pretty sure that's where the stuff on my fork came from. We got a chocolate croissant and a bagel and neither were anything special- the croissant had a weird taste and was overly sweet, and the bagel was burnt in spots. The restaurant was pretty noisy by the time we left, so all in all not a place I'd recommend or return to.

Soooo...you want to go out for brunch but don't quite want to pay for regular high brunch prices nor leave a 20-25% for full service wait staff. Friendly staff overall, and I love the warm wood ambiance and local feel. Wescafe is a order at the counter and take a number cafe. Prices are a little cheaper, and you I don't quite feel obligated to leave a big 20%+ since it's not full service. $8.50 Breakfast burrito with bacon...a perfect sized burrito filled generously with eggs and protein of choice. Great for the price! And perfect if you're. Or looking for a giant brunch food coma. $6.50 Green Monster smoothie...a big 22oz glass fulled with fiber, vitamins, and other good stuff. Side Note: Why do I always hesitate to spend $6-7 on a smoothie but have no problem dropping $6-10+ for a beer?

Despite the line that may seem long, there are plenty of places to sit, outside and inside of Wescafe! The service is quick and friendly with a variety of breakfast options as well as coffees and baked treats! My favorite is the classic breakfast with bacon, sourdough, and home fries! This breakfast is a great value for the quality of food that's served. There is only street parking available and note that Saturday's are more congested due to the farmer's market. This is a great place to walk to and there are always a variety of vendors. A great weekend stop!

Best cafe on the west end-- outdoor is dog friendly, and the patio is a gem. The food is delicious-- leaning toward specialties in breakfast and brunch type food. Large coffee is really large, which is nice-- and it's always bustling and fun to come here. The farmers market is very close and they benefit with really fresh fruit and produce-- their smoothies are a speciality-- but so are the omelettes and huevos divorciados. Truly, Wescafe is a local institution. Wish they would stay open just a few hours later! The back patio is heavenly, with dogs and babies and locals gathering around the bubbling fountain, under the sun. They also have outdoor seating on Webster so you can watch the locals stroll by. Hope they stay open forever.

Service was okay, but seemed understaffed. Special Arugula salad was good. Steak burrito was okay, nothing special.

The owners are so awesome I come all the way from Oakland a couple of times a month where they were previously to opening Wescafe. Why; because their like family and that's how they make you feel each and every time. The food, drinks, service and and atmosphere is an experience all its own and take my word for it . Ask almost everyone one you see there or just observe for your self. You may ask why it took me awhile to yelp Wescafe. Well I hate to wait in long lines.

More attentive to take out orders. Ordered a hamburger with no sauce and a blue cheeseburger today. Came home to discover two hamburgers with no sauce. What happened to my blue cheeseburger with arugula??

Great patio for sitting out back. Line can be long on the weekends but they get to you fairly quickly. Basic breakfast items and coffee drinks. Staff is fairly friendly.

Was craving a salad and sandwich yesterday so stopped in at Wescafe with a few coworkers. Metered street parking only which can be tricky during lunch time so plan accordingly. You order at the counter and are provided a number placard to take with you. Open seating. The back patio is spacious with shaded and uncovered areas. I ordered the eggplant sandwich and arugula salad. Both sandwich and salad were fresh, tasty and satisfying. Cannot wait to come back to try more of the menu.

Super clean insides and fresh approve to their good and drinks. Service was nice and the environment makes me feel like I'm on vacation. 4.5/10

I forgot to take a picture of the caprese sandwich but it was delicious! I ordered it warm which I suggest. I was hungrier than I thought with my intention to eat just half and save the rest for dinner but I couldn't help myself . I ate the whole thing because it was just that good. Service was great! I ordered on phone and was ready as promised. I'll be back to try the salads

This was a great stop after going to the Tuesday farmers market. It was a bit chilly out so we came for hot drinks and a chorizo breakfast burrito. It comes with tomato, cheese, beans and sour cream. We opted out of the beans and we asked for potato instead. We wanted to share it. They gladly said they would cut it. They made the hot drinks and gave them to us in glass mugs before we went to get seating. So nice. Con: For some reason it took over 15 minutes for it to come out. The two customers before us had take out coffee. So It was strange that it took so long for a single burrito assembly. A customer who came in 5 minutes after us got their plated meals immediately after ours so it leads me to believe they started all the meals at the same time or they put extra love into their cooking. Just a little too long for the wait when it wasn't busy in my opinion. Positive: Great meal. Filling burrito that was shared, so good quantity. The coffee was strong enough without asking for an extra shot. The hot chocolate was fine according to my wife. The ambiance was very nice and the seating in the back patio with soft instrumental music with water feature sounds made for a very relaxing time. I'd come back for sure. I just hope for a quicker turn on the meal. Overall, 3.5 stars rounding to 4.
