The Best Savannah, Georgia, Restaurants | Eater Carolinas

"Old-school and expanding Savannah intersect at West Broad Bandshell. In a storied building on MLK Boulevard, soul food and Korean street food come together on a well-planned and reasonably priced menu by Tanika and the Chef Catering. Tteokbokki (street-food-style Korean spicy rice cakes), shrimp and creamy grits, and slow-braised short ribs headline with the support of gluten-free onion rings, Korean corn dog bites, classic cocktails, and other delights." - Kiki Dy

Newest Restaurants to Check Out in Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"514 Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard has music and soul food again, with a South Korean spin. West Broad Bandshell opened for dinner and cocktail service last month. The menu draws from co-owner Tanika Lamar’s mixed heritage. Here, diners can enjoy uncommon combos like tteokbokki (street-food-style Korean spicy rice cakes) followed by old-school shrimp and creamy grits. Other standouts include the pork katsu sandwich and slow-braised short ribs." - Kiki Dy

We went on a Tuesday which was not crowded at all. They had a live artist which was nice for the atmosphere. Baylee our waiter was not attentive at all. She would literally leave us as we were speaking to her about the options on the menu. We had to clarify and ask multiple times on our items, beverage, and a take away box. She did not mention the specials for the evening whatsoever but the bartender happened to stop by and mention them to us. The bartender was also thoughtful enough to mention for us to move away from the speakers before the music got started. The food was excellent, we got the Korean wings, shrimp and grits, and the chef pasta. All were flavorful and warm. However our appetizer was brought to us cold; we were hungry and did not mention it even though the server only had three tables and was not busy except for chatting. Overall I think this would have been a great experience if we had a different server.

Today we had a spontaneous late lunch at West Broad Bandshell, and we’re so glad we did—it was absolutely worth our time. The restaurant is nestled in a beautifully restored historic building, which adds charm and character to the whole experience. The food 👀 Visibly stunning and even more delicious than it looks in the photos. Every bite was packed with flavor and creativity. You can tell there’s passion behind the menu. Tanika and her staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Their energy made the experience even more memorable. If you're looking for a spot that blends soulful hospitality with bold, flavorful dishes, this is it. Highly recommend—this place deserves all the love!

New spot downtown Savannah on MLK is worth the visit. Tuesday is 1/2 price shots which is always a treat. The bartender is knowledgeable about drinks. I had one of their signature cocktails. Don't Rain on My Parade made with Elderflower, Agave, Lime juice, and Altos Tequila. Refreshing and different, as the summer nights start to cool down, this is a great drink. Their menu is short and to the point. To eat i had their Loaded Jazz Fries. It does not disappoint. The medley of flavors is just intoxicating. Don't forget to add the caramelized onions. The beef bulgogi is on point. It can be eat with the fries or on its own. The selection of spirits is diverse and top shelf. And no Korean Soul Food spot would be complete without Souju. They have different events happening everyday. Tuesdays is half of shot, Wednesdays for the Aficionados, Thursdays they have a stand up show. Between the location, the food, the spirits, and the overall vibe and atmosphere you can lose track of time. This is a comeback spot for sure.

Delicious combination of Korean and southern cooking. We had the corn bread, loaded fries, onion rings, katsu, fried chicken, and shrimp and grits. All were awesome. My personal favorite was the loaded fries. The servers were very attentive, and the decor was cute to boot. We will definitely be back.

Sweet potato fries, sweet potatoes fries, sweet potato fries. Then cornbread. If you take one tip from my review, your order those. Just get them for the table to share. The fries are something I will talk about for years. I almost want to leave it a mystery, but the sauce they serve it with is mind-blowing. The fries were crispy and soft. It's actually served with a sweet sauce that they told me it makes it taste like a sweet potato pie. The fries upstaged every other dish. They need to highlight it more. So we are here on vacation and one thing I noticed the place was full but didn't seem to be tourists and instead seemed like a local crowd. We didn't wait for a seat and even other people that showed only waited less than five minutes. Cornbread was excellent, subtle honey butter. Very classic cornbread done extremely well. I'm always a fan of cornbread. Also not sure if it's normal, but the waitress said she put an order of cornbread(I was planning to order anyway) and didn't realize until we left that it was on the house. Union Burger was very good, sold choice. I ordered it medium and I think it was closer to well, but it was still good. Veggie burger was also very good. The fried dumplings were excellent, and definitely showed they know how to fry very well without feeling heavy.

Everything we had was so flavorful and well presented. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the place was packed. The cornbread was so good that even non cornbread fans will ask for more. Both the KTX chicken and the shrimp and grits were amazing. We are already planning when we can go back!

The food was amazingly delicious. Pastured raised meats, locally sourced organic and/or sustainably sourced ingredients for the win. Crispy chicken wings ( soy garlic), Katsu Express Sando, The Union Station, Encore Street Tteok, and the Sunrise stack with sidewinder fries and sweet potato fries # Farm to table #Koreanfood

Let’s talk about the atmosphere at this restaurant — amazing! The music was a whole vibe, I’m talking current RnB mixed with old school RnB. The employees and the service? Also a vibe. This is exactly what Savannah has been needing. Now let’s get into the food! I have never seen or tasted cornbread like this in Savannah before — it came out looking like French toast but was super moist and full of flavor. Hands down some of the best cornbread I’ve ever had, especially with that whipped honey butter. The chef is a mastermind in the kitchen. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy, the collards tasted like somebody’s grandmother was back there cooking, and the steak was so tender and juicy. My wife and I had such a great date night here. We even got to meet the owner and she was so amazing and personable. If you’re reading this, just know — you’ve got something special here in Savannah! I’ll definitely be telling all my friends, family, and even strangers about this spot. And without a doubt, I’ll be back myself.

Yelp
My girlfriend was recommended this place and we went to try it out. The food was amazing. I had the Union Station and my girlfriend had the Green Line Bibimbap Bowl and we both were silent the whole meal since we were so engrossed in the food. Our waitress was also really nice, and she would always get us just what we needed without us even having to ask. The vibes were great as well with good lighting and music. They also happened to have a Trivia night going on which we learned happens every Wednesday at 7:00. We really enjoyed this, and even though we lost, they still gave us a free Blueberry Cobbler just for playing! We had a great evening and will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
If you've been sleeping on West Broad Bandshell, consider this your wake-up call. This unassuming spot on MLK is, without exaggeration, one of the best places to eat in Savannah. The service is warm and welcoming, in that "you actually feel like family" way that's so rare to find. On my first visit, I ordered the Union Station Burger, and it immediately became one of the best burgers I've had in Savannah (and I've tried plenty). My colleagues were equally impressed: one had the Shrimp & Grits and raved about it, while another demolished the Rich Boy shrimp po'boy like it was her last meal on earth. We all left talking about how soon we'd be back. Less than a week later, I returned with my sister for a Sunday appetizer spread, and this is where Bandshell really shined. Here's what we ordered: * Lil' Romi's Famous Corn Bread Cake - This cornbread was unreal. I don't even like cornbread, yet I've dreamed about it every night since. Sweet, buttery, and perfectly crisped on the edges, it's worth the trip alone. * Korean Corndog Bites - Mini Korean-style corn dogs with a gooey mozzarella center, coated in crispy golden panko and dusted with sugar. Crispy, cheesy, and everything I hoped for. * Sweet Potato Fries - Simple but executed perfectly; hot, crispy, and comforting. * Loaded Jazz Fries - The star of the show. Sidewinder fries topped with bulgogi beef, cheese, scallions, bacon, aioli, and ranch. While eating them, I thought: "this might be the best thing I've ever put in my mouth." Then, in a surreal moment, another customer walked in, pointed at them, and said they had come back just for those fries. That says it all. * Hand Cut Onion Rings - Just onion rings on paper, but these were absolutely divine. Thick-cut, golden, and perfectly fried, with a house-made sauce that made them irresistible. * House Dumplings - Crispy and flavorful with pork, scallions, and ginger. Good overall, but if you have to skip one dish, this would be it. Everything else is just on another level. * Nappa Kimchi Crunch Salad - My sister ordered this one, and it was fresh, crunchy, and layered with flavor thanks to the sesame-lime vinaigrette and vegan kimchi. She ate every bite. Every single dish impressed, but the real magic of West Broad Bandshell is how they balance creativity and comfort. Their mix of Korean-inspired soul food is genius, and they execute it with care, flavor, and flair. If I could give them six stars, I would. Just go. I promise you'll thank me later.

Yelp
Very nice place with good atmosphere, excellent staff and good vibes. Bar is excellent with lots of specialty options, and menu, while not extensive, has a wide array of options for every taste. I had the ribeye which was good but my date had the salmon which looked and tasted better. Calamari starter was excellent. This restaurant has live music on Tuesdays and comedy on Thurs (I think). Will be a great venue to see future jazz acts. Looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Okay this is definitely a hidden gem in Savannah. It's the perfect fusion of Asian and soul food. We ordered the dumplings (perfectly crispy), the shrimp po boy (with Asian twist it was INCREDIBLE), and the stir fry. All the food was so tasty! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Only complaint is the restaurant is small and the service was a little slow, but I think they are new and working through kinks!

Yelp
Best wings in the City! And they have late hours, this is one of my new favorite spots!

Yelp
Could have been so much better if the steak plate was just hot. Otherwise the glaze on the steak was very tasty but wasn't pleasant to be eating it cold. The pasta Alfredo sauce with shrimp was also tasty but a huge bowl of pasta and only 5 shrimp. Service wise, we were arranged to order but after receiving our meals could t find our server for ages to get a knife. The complementary cornbread is delicious. We were there on the 1st Friday of the month but no music. I think the place has probably lost its luster since the early reviews.

Yelp
100000000% recommend! The staff, the atmosphere, the food. So impressed! Every bite was full or flavor. The drinks were also delicious. We ate every bite. Each dish had its own flavor palette yet they all blended very well. I will forever recommend them to anyone wanting to try somewhere new!

Yelp
Stopped in here visiting from Iowa on a complete random stumble! Met the owners right away and they were super conversational and welcoming. Regrettably, We had just eaten lunch before walking in but they shared some phenomenal grits. Being a bourbon and gin fan they talked us through different options and even let us sample some. No doubt this place is being operated by some fantastic people. The food I saw coming out looked amazing too. GO HERE AND SUPPORT THESE LOCAL PEEPS!!!

Yelp
This is exact what Savannah needed. We really enjoyed our dinner here. They just opened up earlier this week and the food is perfect. No kinks to work out there. We tried the KTX chicken which was crispy, crunchy deliciousness especially with the sweet and not too spicy sauce. We tried collards, green beans, Mac and cheese and succotash sides. My favorite was the succotash- they put a Korean twist on the flavors and it was so yummy! My husband enjoyed his tender galbi dish served over mashed potatoes with daikon and carrots. We can't wait to come back again and again! Great friendly service too! Owners were really nice.

Yelp
Saw some great reviews and decided to give West Broad Bandshell a try. It exceeded all expectations! The hostess was warm and enviting, the bartender knowledgeable and engaging, the owner friendly and hardworking, and the food was incredible!! It was hard to decide with so many unique and flavorful options but we landed on hand cut onion rings (they were out of Korean Corndog bites and based on the look of them I could see why, we will definitely be returning to try), The Rich Boy, and Chef Romie's Pasta. Everything was as delicious as it sounds, great portions, and reasonably priced as far as good food in Savannah goes. We will definitely be back to try more and would HIGHLY recommend!

Yelp
The service, food and atmosphere was great! I have no complaints! Thursday is comedy night. The show was entertaining. Good vibes all around.

Yelp
We arrived on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. There were quite a few tables open so it didn't seem very busy. We had a booth with 4 patrons. Unfortunately, No one came to our table, so after about10-12, minutes we mentioned that to the hostess. She was very kind, apologetic, and said someone will be right over and she brought us some water. She added that they will provide us complimentary bread for the wait. Meanwhile several other people who arrived after us were seated and attended to by a server. The place isn't that big so it wasn't like they couldn't see where we were. We even saw the hostess mention to servers that we'd been waiting. We continued to patiently wait, sipped on the water the hostess provided us, still, no one came over. After 20 minutes of waiting, we decided to give them almost 10 more minutes for someone, anyone, to come to our table before we left. And nothing. No one still came to our table. So we decided to leave after about 30 minutes of no service. None of us had been there before, and we were excited to try it because we had heard good things about the food, but all four of us were extremely disappointed with the lack of service or even acknowledgement. Usually a server will come over and apologize for the wait and tell you they will be there shortly, that they are slammed or something, which we would have accepted; but, no server did even that, and it was really disappointing. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else eager to try this place.

Yelp
What went well? Everything. When did these guys pop up??! Incredible food, fast and friendly service, a fantastic atmosphere and a super convenient location. The cornbread cake they have is to DIE for. It's SOOOO good. If you're a soul food lover don't sleep on their green beans as a side The Korean inspired flavors really elevate this spot. Definitely one of our new favorites! Gonna be a regular spot, get in here before this place gets crazy popular and packed!!

Yelp
Me and my sister arrived on a Saturday at 8:30PM, after making reservations several days in advance. Unfortunately, before we were seated, we were told that the kitchen was held up for 45 minutes and they will call us on the phone when its ready. We asked if we could just wait, then we were told that they won't be able to seat us because they had an unexpected number of people that walked in earlier. So apparently they ran out of food.... Or something. We don't know... It's a very tiny restaurant, they even have chairs up against the windows so people can eat at the windowsill. They seem to be popular, based on reviews so maybe they should consider taking reservations only so they won't have to kick people out that made reservations days in advance. It was disappointing and it felt awkward to say the least. They could of at least offered us a complimentary drink at the bar and then told us the bad news.

Yelp
The food is amazing and bartenders. We enjoyed wings, salmon burger, and an old fashion from the bar. It was DELICIOUS

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. The food is fresh, expertly prepared and simply wonderful both in preparation and presentation. The chicken was amazing! The owners are on site, friendly and engaging. Our server was well versed on the menu and appropriately attentive. Easy street parking. Sometimes there is live music. The ambience is casual and welcoming.

Yelp
This little gem has fire food and drinks. Great spot for families, couples and solo folks. Food is seasoned and a good menu variety.

Yelp
I'm hesitant to leave this review because I want to keep this place a secret. Food was outstanding, cocktails perfect and the live entertainment out of this world! Brandon, our bartender was fabulous and Michael the owner was so welcoming and sweet. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place is gorgeous, real and delicious! Had an amazing time there and can't wait to go back for their Sunday Supper!!

Avery A.

Yelp
I refuse to go back, the owner is so proud of the atmosphere. Their food sucks and i wont be going back after hearing a rumor they stole this place from the previous owners.
