"Streeterville: Breakfast and brunch stalwart West Egg Cafe has permanently after more than 30 years. Fans found it a reliable spot for omelets, skillets, and other eggy options. A for-lease sign in the window at 620 N Fairbanks Court." - Naomi Waxman

"West Egg has been around for over 30 years, serving standard diner food - which means anything and everything. The long, long menu includes frittatas, rotisserie chicken, nachos, skillets, and steaks, to name just a few options. There are better places to go to brunch, but West Egg is easy and filling, and sits in a bit of a diner desert, so it’s a solid option for anyone who finds themselves in Streeterville at midday." - Marnie Shure

Good location, the host was nice when we walked in and we were seated quickly even though the place was pretty busy. Management was friendly, service could have been a bit more attentive but she too was nice. The place looks like a cafe, nothing negative there. The food was good! We came in for a late breakfast around 11am. I ordered the breakfast burger, my friend.... not sure but there is a picture. The burger was excellent. Felt like a hand formed fresh patty and the homestyle potatoes were good. We both were full and the bill totaled under $30 so the pricing is fair. I'm visiting but would definitely return to try it again

We were looking for a new place for brunch and came across this place. The cafe was not too busy and we were seated promptly. We ordered three different dishes and a pancake for the table. “The big easy” -It was good. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the sausage was well cooked. I loved their potatoes. “The veggie benedict”- It was also well made and tasty. The semi-cooked veggies and the eggs made for a great combination. “The California Crepe” - It was not very good. Firstly the vegetables inside weren’t even sautéed to begin with. And somehow a piece of bacon had gotten into it and the friend who was eating it was a vegetarian. So it was ruined for us. The server was gracious enough to take it off our bill. The strawberry pancake - It wasn’t very good. There was something wrong with the consistency and it was falling apart the moment we grabbed some with our forks. The building is old and so the ceiling has some water damage. Water was dripping right by our table and some splashed on our table as well which made for a very weird experience.

First time diners. Walking distance from the DeWitt Hotel. Waiter had menus and a table before we even got into the restaurant. Server was quick and attentive. Plenty of options for every palette. Healthy to not so much. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Steak was a cheaper cut, but that is to be expected. The portions are huge!! Price is in par with the quality and quantity.

Was recommended but our hotel concierge & am very impressed! After a long flight from Texas we were very hungry wanting some breakfast and this place hit the spot! Their menu was very vast and had amazing choices! Great for brunch or breakfast and amazing place for pancakes! I got the egg white scramble and was very impressed. Extremely fast serving and responsive waiters! Not too busy when we went but had a great amount of seating as well. Great location right downtown and very close to our hotel, Aloft on Mag mile! Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Excellent staff, especially seating staff! We came with a 2 year old and they made sure to scrub the high chair of a spot without being asked. Very clean and put together. Huge portions of food!

Amazing place. They have regular and healthy options. The pancakes were amazing. This place is packed but we were lucky to have waited only less than 5 minutes. Service was also amazing despite being so busy.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The food was fresh and easy to order. The service was incredibly good. Rami was our server and I swear he could read our minds. Very customer friendly experience, the best side of Chicago. Thank you

This morning, having read some great reviews, we stepped into West Egg Cafe for brunch. Located conveniently within walking distance from Water Tower Place, this place did not live up to our expectations or it’s previous reviews. Soon after our food arrived, I had to move to the farthest end of my seat to dodge water dripping from ceiling, owing to poor maintenance. Our server paid no heed to my discomfort and casually commented that ‘it happens’. While we tried to ignore the drizzle and enjoy our meal, we found a piece of meat in our vegetarian California Crepe order. Although we got that plate taken out of our check, it ruined my vegetarian fiancé’s morning. The Veggie Benedict and Big Easy were good, but several other cafes in Chicago serve much better pancakes and coffee. We left with a bad first impression!
