This morning, having read some great reviews, we stepped into West Egg Cafe for brunch. Located conveniently within walking distance from Water Tower Place, this place did not live up to our expectations or it’s previous reviews.
Soon after our food arrived, I had to move to the farthest end of my seat to dodge water dripping from ceiling, owing to poor maintenance. Our server paid no heed to my discomfort and casually commented that ‘it happens’. While we tried to ignore the drizzle and enjoy our meal, we found a piece of meat in our vegetarian California Crepe order. Although we got that plate taken out of our check, it ruined my vegetarian fiancé’s morning. The Veggie Benedict and Big Easy were good, but several other cafes in Chicago serve much better pancakes and coffee. We left with a bad first impression!
