Really good ice mocha! The chocolate croissant was delicious as well. I wish it had been warm, but they were about to close and had everything shut down

Huge disappointment. I used to get the trail mix scone weekly and when I got one here on my trip back to Chicago it was stale. The cinnamon roll was also very dry. I’m not sure if the quality has gone down or it is just this location. They had very minimal selection at 9a on a Saturday and they weren’t expecting a delivery of more pastries that day. The furniture was stained. The dark matter coffee is good, so if you’re just needing a coffee would still recommend. Otherwise try your luck on a fresher pastry at Eatily on the same block

Can’t speak for the other locations but was very disappointed. When I arrived there were no employees present, just a sign saying they’d be back soon. The drip coffee wasn’t very warm, a not insignificant amount of my espresso shots failed to make it into the receptacle, and both pastries I ordered were mediocre at best.

I love this place. I live in Missouri, where this infused beverage concept hasn't quite taken off like here. Every time i come into town, I make it a point to swing thru buzzed bakery. The best bakery in Chicago! I got the lemonade with a triple shot of f it, and it was heaven.

Friendly staff! Bread and pastries were so delicious. Especially the chocolate muffin was the best muffin I have ever tried!! Donut was fluffy and not dry at all:)

West Town Bakery was a fantastic cake vendor. Samantha, our pastry chef, was so accommodating from start to finish. Not only did she rise to the challenge of creating a whimsical wedding cake for me but the cake itself was also moist and delicious. My wedding was 2 weeks ago and I'm still getting compliments about how good the cake was. My husband and I plan to visit the bakery sometime to order another cake. Absolutely great service.

Cute little bakery attached to Acme Hotel. I ❤ the cake ball variety and flavors. They are so yummy. I'm a huge coconut fan and Coconut Dream donut was wonderful.

Warning: Bit of a rant. Asked for a simple donut, and a “medium” cold brew with light oat milk. I was given the smallest cup possible, half filled with oat milk, and somehow the pre-tax amount came to 10+ dollars. The donut was stale as well, and the staff seemingly too busy to respond with any greeting (there was only 1 other customer) Look I rarely review places and rarely complain, but this is probably my tipping point with Chicago coffee shops. Astronomical prices, the feeling of bothering the workers, and the utter sad excuse of customer service. I make decent money, I’m able to live downtown in a modest place. But it’s genuinely come to the point where I’m paying meal prices for coffee, and I keep thinking about the boomer take of “well maybe if you didn’t buy coffee” which is actually true at this point, I’d be saving so much money. But that means I can’t even buy myself a coffee and donut while going out on the weekend, on a full time job? Is this really what it comes down to?

This was at my hotel, so I ordered from there twice. Day 1 - they had some really good looking glazed doughnuts. I was out of my mind when I ordered a breakfast sandwich instead - these weren't listed on any of the main menus, but I noticed a small sign that said "sandwiches". I got a plain bagel, with tasteless eggs, tasteless sausage, and I assume cheese. Easily the worst bagel breakfast sandwich I've ever eaten. I got a mocha with a shot of hazelnut - that was ok. Day 2 - I wanted that glazed donut, but the bakery was closed... nobody, no pastries, oh well. Day 3 - they were out of the glazed doughnuts. I got a chocolate croissant instead, which was pretty good. I got the same mocha and it tasted off. They had a few other good looking pastries, but I'd probably just recommend finding another bakery.

While the name says 'bakery & diner' I sadly did not sample any of the baked goods as I stopped in for a cup of drip coffee. There were several baked goods which looked tasty but I held out and did not partake. As for the coffee, they brew Dark Matter coffee which was spot for my taste. The staff immediately greeted me and took my order. Additionally they asked if I mind waiting a few minutes while they brewed a fresh coffee. I appreciate that they asked and since I always enjoy a freshly brewed cup of java I had no problem waiting. And as they indicated, the wait was fairly short. The space, which is rather small has 3-4 tables/chairs near the back of the shop. Also, the shop is easy to walk past so make sure you're on the lookout as you're walking along Ohio. For what it's worth, WTB is attached to the Acme Hotel so if you see it you've found WTB. If I lived in the area WTB would definitely be in my coffee shop rotation. And on the right day I'd probably break down and try on the baked items.

West Town is now open! The staff was friendly and the scone was everything I dreamt it would be. Their coffee is also very affordable for downtown Chicago. I would highly recommend this West Gate location for a quick start to your morning.

This is a small coffee shop and bakery with graffiti painted walls. It is next door to the ACME hotel and easy to walk by so keep an eye out. I went here around 10am on a Friday morning and they were already sold out of most donuts. They only had a vegan donut or a vanilla glazed; i went for the vanilla glazed. and a cappuccino. The donut was honestly one of the best i've ever had. It was so fresh and fluffy and the glaze was sweet with real vanilla bean specs. Yum Yum Yum!

Delightful bakery in the North River section of Chicago. The place is small and quaint, but had a great comforting ambiance. They sell many desserts and baked goods, along with some other basic breakfast foods. I ate the Homer Simpson™ Donut, along with a cappuccino and Vanilla Chocolate cake pop. The donut was spectacular and had a very sweet and buttery icing. I could of eaten half a dozen! The cake pop was also very unique, I wasn't expecting a hard thick candy shell coating, but it worked well. Plenty of space for seating indoors, the owners were very friendly and helpful as well

Came to explore Chicago for a few days and was told this place was a good place to stop for coffee. Walking in it looked hip, but the donut case is almost empty and the signs all have stuff marked out e.g. no bagels. I order a soy latte (they also were out of all other plant based milk) and oatmeal and it literally comes to $10. Little did I know I'd be getting one packet of instant oatmeal with some fruit and cinnamon for $5. The latte is more than a 1/3 foam so even though I paid for 12oz I'm actually getting closer to 8oz. Definitely got finessed out of $10. Super bummed and still very hungry. Won't come back here for the remainder of my trip.

West Town doesn't have a ton of vegan options, but what it does have is great. They're not labeled "vegan" but anything with a white label is vegan, according to the manager. I got chocolate peanut, triple chocolate and cookie dough cake balls ($1.75 each). All were tasty, but the chocolate peanut and triple chocolate ones burst with ooey-gooey flavor and sweet goodness. It was akin to eating a piece of cake with a hot burst of fudge or mousse in the middle. Amazing. Come to West Town for their vegan cake balls. Seriously.

Fun place to get your coffee & pastry fix. They give you just that bit of attitude that you would expect when you walk in, but in the best way possible. We tried their breakfast croissant and a nutella pastry and it was just what we needed on a rainy morning.

We were staying here for a weekend and had a lovely experience Saturday morning. However, our rating stems from a miserable and unprofessional experience Saturday evening when we were looking to get a coffee and muffin. The person closing refused to try and pour us a coffee stating that they close in 6 minutes and they didn't have enough. They also stated that they cannot give me a muffin because they already cleaned up. I hope this issue gets taken care of as I do enjoy this coffee shop. It is unfortunate I have to give this a 1 star review.

Stopped by this location after eating at Cafe Integral. It was completely empty and the place itself is kind of meh. We tried the S'mores Doughssant and omgggggg. I might be addicted. Its a flaky puff pastry crust with whipped cream + marshmallow cream filling. Half had vanilla filling and half had chocolate, I wish it was all vanilla! The chocolate was overwhelmingly sweet. They only had half doughssants for $2. Not bad price and a great portion size! I've tried cake balls and other desserts at the other West Town location and everything is always pretty darn good! Worth trying!

Slow. When I say slow I mean, the guy working the counter might have been half-asleep. I was staying at the ACME hotel and went down for a cup of coffee before heading out. There were three people in front of me and I stood there for easily 10 minutes before I ordered. Then, upon ordering the counter guy noticed they were "out of coffee". Another wait...Finally got my cup. It was just ok and crazy expensive. The whole experience started me off on the wrong foot for the day.

Wide selection and plenty of vegan and gluten free pastry options Chocolate chip and chocolate cakeballs are delicious! Highly recommend! Always friendly service from Teddy and Katherine

Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich. Beware this location has a different menu than the website. That left me sad and confused BUT the one out of two breakfast sandwiches they had was AMAZING. I got the egg croissant (no bacon) which was $7 (cheaper than corner bakery) and I was surprised how good it was. The girl making my sandwich offered to add arugula and pickled onion which got me happy and excited. That's what made the sandwich. It is large and tasty. Although I was looking forward to getting homefries with it like the website says, I was still satisfied and I will def get it again. Oh, I got a free bag of chips I won't eat till lunch but it was nice to get something extra. This is a great gem I will def be going back to. Trying to find a decent priced tasty breakfast in this area is pretty tricky. Their pastries also look amazing! And anything vegan and organic has my vote.

Sucker punch for b-fast? Mmmm, yum! About the same time as WestTown's Clark location opened May-ish 2018, the sandwich menu at this used-to-be-gem of a place changed. On my 5+ year quest to find a delicious and organic egg-sandwich place in the heart of Chicago, the sign on the door advertising Organic, local and some other catchy greenish term attracted me. Still no response to my email asking about the source of the eggs used about Feb'18, but hey, friendly staff and quick intent full service. They faked it well, enough for me to enjoy the b-fast sandwiches for a few months. Now, apparently to streamline production - there are two places now you know, the egg-sandwiches and other sandwiches are pre-made and stuffed in a hockey-puck like bun. Heck, might as well go all the way and streamline the coffee, get rid of the espresso machine and invest in a Mr Coffee drip pot or two! No, chopped bacon bits in a creamy sauce stuffed in dough belongs in a vending machine, not at the other end of a counter, soon to be presented with a friendly convincing smile that what is being served is good. Really! Plus the coffee cup lids are no longer compostable, but standard #6 polystyrene - impossible to recycle. Besides the soda, what actually is Organic, local and ....? So I let my standard down for a few months are really enjoyed the non-organic egg sandwich. Maybe because of the intent, the pleasant service of the staff. Now? Why invest in an additional cafe when an existing one gets compromised? Sounds like a development or investment business interest. Too bad. Other greats also expanded (StarB*, Ben & J*, Nake*, Odawall*). My quest continues. Organic egg b-fast sandwiches in Chgo. Hint to cafes. The hidden make-it-or-break-it ingredient after quality products is intent. Once intent changes from honest food to profit, it's over.

This version of West Town Bakery is embedded in the ground floor of the Acme Hotel. My friend raves about this place because all of the goodies are tasty as well as organic. There are a couple of tables in case you want to eat your treats there. There are baked goods large and small, so you can have a regulation-sized nutella danish (absolutely rich and decadent) or a munchkin-sized cake ball. While I liked the cake balls, I heard a wide range of opinions of them in my group. Some thought they were awful because they were "not baked enough" because of its gooey brownie-like consistency, while others say they are supposed to be rich morsels and that is how the exterior ingredients (nuts, sprinkles) can adhere to the moist interior. Whatever your opinion may be, you cannot argue with the friendly attitude of the servers behind the counter.

I've been dying to try a Doughssant ever since I saw that there was such a thing, and this new location of West Town Bakery was close enough to grab on on the way to work. I got a chocolate raspberry creme filled one, and it was NOT as good as I'd hoped. It had a weird, bland taste, because it wasn't the normal buttery croissant taste, and it wasn't the normal doughy sweet doughnut taste. I don't know if this was just specific to the bakery, or all doughssants (or cronuts). It was also a little to oily and fried tasting for me. I also got a chocolate peanut butter cake ball to try, and it was okay as well. Nothing special, but different than the normal cupcake/cookie/brownie treats. Their other goodies looked really pretty in the case, So I might give them a try. But if they all have a bland taste I might not be interested in tasting them. Also, their regular small coffee was $2.50! That seems a little high to me, but I didn't see what kind of coffee it was, so maybe it's reeeeeeally good.

They don't have a big selection of baked goods, some gluten free cupcakes, cookies, etc. The most unique ones were the cake balls, different flavors such as French toast, red velvet, Mexican chocolate, etc. I liked my Mexican chocolate one which had coconut flavor to it, went back second time and got a red velvet, was pretty good too. Also tried their brownies and cheesecake brownies, these were good but nothing to rave about. What I love the most is their hot chocolate, really good and cozy especially for a cold winter! Interesting little place for a nice treat. I enjoy my visit there every time!

Excellent Espressos and Lattes. Bakery goods are delicious, especially the cake balls. Hip quaint River North location. Affordable and friendly service where they are very knowledgable about the home baked products. I stopped in because of the vegan baked goods. Check out their website for further info about vegan etc ingredients. They also make sandwiches. Whenever in River North on Ohio St. stop here for the smoothest tastiest coffee. The beans are roasted in Chicago. Let's support our city!

Quick: A fast, welcoming pastry shop. Come for the $5 screwdrivers! Pros: $5 drinks, tasty ham and cheese, small but cozy atmosphere. Cons: Closes at 11PM This handsome shop is very small. Room for 6-8 in the main area then a strip of seating in the back for 6-8 more. It's a one man cafe with the pastries lining glass cases and drink orders taken at a walk by window or inside. The best part is they serve alcohol and a $5, heavy handed screwdriver with real orange juice is the best quick drink you'll have. And he makes them right there behind the pastry counter, almost the way you'd get one at your friend's apartment. A friend, making another friend a drink to have a good time. The ham and cheese hit the spot perfectly and we sat in the cafe as a layover between our destinations. Felt really comfy, though the atmosphere doesn't lend itself to drinking. Definitely happy our hotel had West Town Bakery in the lobby, though we wished it was open later, we understand the demand for bakeries tend to drop in the night.

I stumbled across West Town Bakery when I had some time to kill and got tired of the usual Starbucks. It was a quaint but colorful coffee shop on a busy block. I walked right in and immediately liked the atmosphere. The walls were dripping with colorful neon graffiti and it echoed with urban chill hop. The person working the coffee bar was super helpful when I asked about some menu items. I ordered a cappuccino with foam as smooth as the ambience of the place. I tried one of the peanut butter chocolate cake balls and it was great. I sat in the back and appreciated the wall of albums with the bakery name playfully photoshopped in. It's a great place to casually pop in for a coffee.

What happened to this place? West Town Bakery used to be one of my go-to places for lunch. They had great hot sandwiches that were worth the money and were very filling. I went in today to grab a sandwich. I noticed their menu looked different, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I ordered the Ham & Cheese on Pretzel Bun. I was surprised when I saw the employee pull it out of the fridge, remove it from a plastic bag and toss it in an oven/microwave (similar to how Starbucks does their sandwiches). When I sat down to eat it, it looked like a sad McDonald's breakfast sandwich. The "pretzel" bun looked sad and deflated. The cheese was dripping down the sides, the ham was lukewarm. Me and my appetite are so disappointed. I paid $9 for a knockoff McGriddle. Plus, the friendly staff that used to work there was nowhere to be found. To my surprise, the poor customer service was the best part of my experience. I'm only giving 2-stars because they at least have Dark Matter Coffee. Is that enough for me to return? Absolutely not.

As far as I can tell, the cake ball here is basically a glorified donut hole. My version of a "cake ball" is an enrolled cupcake, sort of like a Hostess with chocolate all around (and good). There's nothing wrong with them,but nothing I'd come back for. The doughssaint, on the other hand, is probably worth stabbing someone with a fork. Crunchy, buttery, sweet, and you can feel yourself dying slowly as you chomp it. I tried the S'mores, which had a lovely marshmallow fluff filling. Get one of those and a coffee and you might not need to eat again till afternoon.

Stayed at the ACME and got breakfast vouchers for this bakery. Bacon and egg croissant ($7) was good- very oily, but the hot sauce was a great addition! Not too spicy, and a little sweet to contrast the salt. Also had a chocolate donut and pumpkin scone on the other days, and they were both pretty dry and flavorless. Coffee was okay, but others in my group complained it was too sour. The baristas were very friendly and helpful! Definitely worth a try if you're staying in the hotel, esp. if you have those meal tickets!

Be careful or you'll miss West Town Bakery and Diner. This place is tucked in a "hole in the wall". There are few tables but there is a place to sit and enjoy. The decor inside is very welcoming as well. I stopped in around 3pm to cure my sweet tooth and they were not very busy. So pleased they had multiple gluten-free options (cupcakes, brownies and cookies)! Very satisfied with the taste of the chocolate cake w/vanilla icing GF cupcake I ordered. A good texture and great taste! The price was very reasonable too. Topped it off with a cup of orange juice. Would definitely stop back in!

I am not a fan of the ACE hotels. Had I known this place was attached, I might not have gone. But, I was looking for pastries convenient to my hotel and am actually very glad I found this place. Nice pastries. I bought about a dozen for a meeting I was having, and people demolished them, complimenting the ginger scones particularly. The staff was super nice about the pastries. He individually wrapped each pastry before placing them in the box and (it's the little things), when he put the large box into the bag, he knew to tip the bag (instead of the box) so that pastries wouldn't spill all over themselves. (Not everyone thinks about this.) That said, there isn't much quantity in the cases, so my purchase kind of wiped them out for the day. There are a lot of options, but only maybe 4 or 5 of each item. And, by the time I got there (maybe 8:00 am), there were often only 2 things of each.

This was a good spot if you need a quick bite after a late Chicago evening! I am a New Yorker, so the bagel was not my favorite, but it was fine. Okay, that's the end of my NY snobbery. The croissant and tea were yummy though!

If you like sullen service and yesterday's pastry, this is the place for you. I ordered decaf cafe au lait since it was almost 4:00 pm and got a slow blink followed by a bored "we don't have decaf. (Beat) except for espresso". Isn't cafe au lait espresso with hot milk? And there are multiple signs telling you to tip, so make sure you reinforce the sulky help.

They don't understand supply and demand. If you sell out of vegan donuts by 9-10am on the weekend, and the "regular" donuts are still aplenty...make more vegan donuts! How hard is that? Make less during the week if you don't sell out and up the weekend production! I don't recommend this bakery anymore to vegans seeking donuts because it is unreliable and limiting to say but you must wake up early to get the vegan donut or else they are gone! And wonder why the granola peanut vegan donut is always left...v gross and many have peanut allergies. Going to try SmackDab now!

I've only tried one item here and been here only once but based on that one item alone I would go back for more. I had the chocolate cake ball. It was very rich and oh, so chocolaty. Basically chocolate cake encrusted in a chocolate shell with chocolate sprinkles. When I return I think that I would try some of the more unusual flavors.

We went here based on a local shop owners recommendation. I think some people were on break because there was only one person and it took quite a while for him to make a few cappuccinos. However, bless the person who told us to go there. It was a fantastic cappuccino. Probably one of the best I've had in a loooong time. 4 stars because service was slow. Maybe we hit them at a bad time. I would return if I loved there. The bakery items looked amazing too. The ambiance was cool and casual. Very laid back and fun colors on the walls.

Only two stars because...well.. Men. I truly have experienced better. I opted for the regular red velvet cupcake. It was so cold that it was hard. I wanted to indulge right away so it was not a very good way to eat it. If it had been room temp im sure I would have enjoyed it much more because the flavors were great.

Coffe was barely warm and a bit weak. The spinach and feta turnover looked delicious and the bread consistency was good, but the filling lacked any substance. There was just a hint of feta, almost too sparse to notice, and not much spinach. It was more of a light bread than a turnover. The donuts and other sweets looked delicious - perhaps I'll give them another try. Both staff were friendly, prompt and conversational. A 5 star there!

COMFY AND COZY SURROUNDINGS This looked like one of those places I would regularly haunt if it was closer. The pastries were just oozing temptation as they posed behind the glass counter and the scattered tables just begged for conversation or some study time with a laptop and coffee at my side. BUT THAT ONE SERVICE GUY... I smiled and tried to make small talk with the lone, young guy behind the counter. He didn't reciprocate any of it. Every chat was met with a grunt. When I asked if those were Nuts on top of a Doughnut he responded smugly, "Whaddaya think they are?" Whoa. I guess none of the cozy and comfy surroundings were getting to this guy. GREAT PASTRIES At least the pastries were good. Not top-notch because they still had that slight 'left out' texture and flavor but still way above chain stores. My Apple Cinnamon Doughssant (like a long Cronut I guess) was very flaky and thick. The Beer and Pretzel Doughnut seemed to be one of their most unusual offerings (and looked the coolest) but it seemed more Caramel than Beer in flavor. I'm a bigger fan of their Scones--excellent with Tea or Coffee.

Bought some cupcakes and macaroons. Macaroons were too sweet, no sophisticated taste. The cupcakes I was told were baked fresh that day, but they were frozen when I opened the box to try. Plus both cupcakes tasted horrible, the mint chocolate one was puked. The caramel and nut chocolate one was bland and the frosting was just tasteless lard to me. Never going back, wast of time and money.

This was a convenient and quick stop since I was staying at the Acme Hotel which is in the same building. I went twice and had a cold brew coffee both times which was flavorful and then had a donut one morning and then I tried its famous Cakeball Doughnuts the second morning. I had the cinnamon sugar cake ball (WOW) and the lemon almond cake ball. They were super sugary and moist and filling. Very good! The workers were nice both times. There isn't much seating inside due to it being a little small which I know can't be changed. It's an edgy place with graffiti graphics on the walls and then old school record labels in the back. The donut I had the first morning was so good that I was planning on getting it again but I went in the afternoon and they were out. The worker said the bake everything fresh each morning and only make so many. My boyfriend had a croissant that had prosciutto and pesto in it and he was pleasantly surprised with how good it was. This place is good at what it does.

Amazing cake balls! Best I have ever had! Only wish they could ship them to Arizona :) Definitely try them! Didn't try anything else but I'm sure I would have found more favorites!

I used to come here every day over the summer. The service was great, the drinks were on point, and the pastries??? Oh god they were divine. I visited today after a long hiatus around noon. There was one person in front of me, so there were only two customers including myself. It took almost 10 minutes just to be able to place my order. Then another 10 minutes until i got my drink. The silly thing is, the customer before me was making a return, so the only thing they had to make was my drink. When i tried the drink, it had none of the chocolatey taste that dark matter coffees usually have. It tasted like foamy water. I didn't want to bother with a return, seeing how it took them forever to help the previous one with the return. I had a meeting to go to, so i didn't have the time to wait another whatever time for a new one. Maybe it was just a bad day???? But i'm kinda sad ):

This place is attached to the Acme hotel where I was staying so I got a bunch of vouchers for breakfast. Their menu is tiny, includes sandwiches both breakfast and lunch, with literally every option including meat. And they're all $8 or more so this certainly isn't cheap. I wish there was just a "make your own option" or something. I was annoyed when I had to order every sandwich sans meat which was basically a bagel with cream cheese and arugula for $8 and $9 with tax. Annoying. Admittedly, it was still good, and I'm sure good with the meat too, but just annoying. I tried the doughssant or whatever aka a cronut and I was unimpressed. They also didn't warm it up which would have made it better. $4 for that. The coffee is just not good. The service is really slow and not super friendly.

Their egg and bacon croissant sandwich was great, their quiche was tasty and had a really nice crust, and the cinnamon roll was heavy on the frosting and heavy on the delicious. But on top of that, everyone who worked here was awesome -- super friendly and nice. Plus the atmosphere is quirky and cool. Really liked this place a lot.

Birthday cake doughssant: 5/5 awesome flakey croissant texture with the fluffiness of a doughnut! The filling was light and flavorful too. Would get again. Birthday cake ball: The filling was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, but the outer coating of chocolate and sprinkles was way too thick for me! Probably would not get again. Cinnamon roll: I enjoyed the flavor of the cream cheese frosting and the ample size, but the inside really lacked a lot of cinnamon filling. Would not get again. The staff were super friendly. The place is really small with 2-3 two-person tables--a fine size if you're just staying for a quick bite but not the type of place to study at or settle in for the day.

There are not a lot of places in River North that can be called "unassuming," but from the outside, West Town Bakery can get lost in all the hotels and flashy shops it shares a street with. But once you try a couple of their treats, you will know its location forever. The cake balls are a creative and delicious improvement on their more common "pop" cousin, with a flavor for every mood and preference. They find a way to pack so much flavor into these while keeping the cake part as moist and rich as any regular cake. And if you love chocolate, the Quad City Cake is by far the best mousse cake I've ever had. Every quality you could ask for in such a cake leaving no detail behind. Even the chocolate shavings that decorated the outside felt like a notch above the ordinary. Inside, there is a palpable indie alternative vibe that this part of town desperately needs. It capably walks the line of being hip and colorful while still feeling like a neighborhood bakery you can stop into on a weekend for coffee and a snack and walk away feeling like you made great use of your time, taste buds and (let's be honest here) money. I'm making this a regular part of my weekend routine.

Did their management and recipes change? They used to have the best cake balls in the world! I wanted them at my wedding! Had them today and they were utterly disappointing. Each of the cake balls had the same flavor middles, which were all soggy. The overall flavor was desperately lacking, and at two dollars a pop I was definitely wishing for the cake balls of yore. This was a Chicago staple! No longer.

Great place, definitely worth of your time and money. I've been there many times and will visit that place in nearest future for sure. Also they provide delicious pastry for one of the local coffee shops "Dark Matter Coffee". In other words, go visit and you won't leave disappointed)))

My rating is only on the Cake Balls, but I will say the cute ambiance of the bakery and the lovely women working the counter also helped. This morning, 4.26.16 I went to West Town Bakery on my way to the gym, yes sounds counterintuitive, but I have been craving sweets and I kept hearing how good the cake balls were, and they did not disappoint. I got the vanilla with sprinkles and the cinnamon french toast one. OMG both so freaking good! I was surprised that I liked the cinnamon more than the vanilla... both were out of this world! I could eat a vat of them. The women at the counter, was nice and answered some questions I had. I will definitely be coming back and now considering of placing a larger order for my bachelorette party as a delightful sweet treat.

I love their cake balls, and picked up a half dozen of these the other day as a gift. The space is super small, and while they don't yet have the option in the cash register for 1/2 dozen of these, the staff were super flexible (the cost of a dozen is $15 - one cakeball costs $1.50, so obviously I wanted to get the more cost-effective pricel). Very nice and easygoing manager happily made the adjustment. I do think that it'd be great if they had some cute bags to be able to give to people if you're giving baked goods as a gift or something to celebrate instead of the plain brown bag, and perhaps a smaller box for the cakeballs. However, the baked goods speak for themselves. So glad that they have a location near the Red Line as it''s closer to me. Sidenote: a few of the guys who work there look as sweet as the treats that they sell ;)

I work right around the corner and was so excited to try a sandwich from here today. I ordered the ham sandwich and after I paid, the worker told me they were out of ham. I switched to the turkey club which included turkey, lettuce, tomato, avocado and bacon. I added mustard and subtracted mayo. The sandwich sounded much better than what I got - which was a huge soggy mess with wayyyy too much mustard, 1 slice of bacon, 1 tiny piece of lettuce, and zero avocado. I ended up having to disassemble the sandwich in order to fit it into my mouth, and to avoid a mouthful of mustard. I'm sorry to say it was just a really terrible sandwich. I threw most of it away.

I noticed this place about a week or so ago and have already made this my new coffee spot. There can be kind of a wait with hotel guests deciding on their breakfast and coffee choices when I stop in in the mornings. I'm not complaining because it's better than waiting at Starbucks across the street. Though not everything is on the menu, they can make iced coffee of your choice. In my case, I like the iced mochas. I also tried one of the doughsants (or cronuts?) which was just ok. I think next time I'll stick with the other pastries, some of which are vegan and gluten free.

Two words: CAKE-BALLS. Oh my goodness they are so good! Also, if you love espresso get yourself a cortado! The coffee/espresso is so good here. Not sure why people are complaining ably the price, it's very reasonable for the area and the staff are always so nice. The store has a cool vibe and it's very small/intimately set. I try and stop here every time I am in River North. All of the cake balls are good but the vanilla sprinkle one is the way to go if you can only have one---which you should have like 5. They are so good you won't want to stop eating them.
