New San Diego Restaurants and Bars That Have Opened During the Pandemic - Eater San Diego

"Anchoring the new Monsaraz Hotel, the all-day Westerly Public House has a vibe that melds the SoCal lifestyle with Austrailia’s coast with a kitchen helmed by Jesse Paul (The Wooden Spoon) whose concise starting menu includes buttermilk-fried enoki mushrooms, fish tacos, and piri piri chicken." - Candice Woo

While the Westerly is a hotel restaurant and prices and decor reflect that captive audience, this is an excellent choice even when you are in a city that has some great food! Everything we tried was yummy, especially the flat bread. Service was top notch every time we ate there and refills were always very quick. If it’s nice out and the doors to the courtyard are open it’s lovely - but it might get loud on trivia nights. Parking could be a challenge but there should be some street options in this safe area.

food & cocktails were amazing!! got the beef bo ssam (ribeye) & blooming mushroom and they were perfect. craft cocktails are some of the best in SD, not sickeningly sweet but well balanced and tasty. large outdoor patio with lots of seats to lounge!

We had brunch here on a weekday. The food was delicious and the server was very friendly (but not attentive, maybe because she had to be multitasking). The patio is beautiful. Took a star off because of the parking situation. Their website states 2 hours free valet parking. We drove around the hotel (the restaurant is in a hotel) 3 times but could not find the valet parking. Glad that we were able to find a spot a block away while we decided to give up on dining here.

Tried for breakfast and dinner. Both were disappointing. Breakfast : untasty scramble eggs and dry potatoes. Dinner : expensive burger and too spicy. Fries were good. Staff is not welcoming. They just look at you but you have to ask for everything: the menu, water... Burger was served without any cutlery. 2 stars are for the nice atmosphere. I will be back at the hotel but not at the restaurant.

This is a wonderful restaurant located in Monsaraz a Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Service from the F&B Manager Jose, the bartender and server was fantastic. We arrived early to the hotel which worked out perfectly. Hungry from our cross country flight it was great to find Westerly. I enjoyed my fish tacos and my bride was very pleased with her burrito. Her blueberry, pomegranate margarita was perfect and served with a smile or three. Great choice of whiskey and bourbon so the Buffalo Trace made me smile!

Came here as part of a soft opening with some friends and was shown around the hotel and grounds (absolutely beautiful) before being seated. Our experience here was phenomenal - cannot emphasize enough the kindness of the staff and owner before our meal even started. Cocktails are definitely great tasting; good for a quick one or a long evening. I had the items shown and they were honestly much more novel (and delicious) than I had anticipated. Each item in the green rice bowl, while seemingly odd, complemented the rice well. Finished the evening with the amazing butterscotch pot de creme. Must try! They offer brought an upcoming chocolate flourless decadence cake that was incredible fishy and served with a jam. We also had such a diverse table that I can also attest that the piri piri chicken, burger, and fish tacos were amazing.

Great brunch spot with indoor and outdoor dining. I had the chilaquiles, they were delicious. Only thing I wouldn't recommend is "the traditional" - its a bit too much like a throwback to an old Dennys special and sure to trigger order envy for literally anything else. Coffee was excellent and the staff were all super nice. A bit thinly staffed for a Sunday brunch hour but they were hustling.
