The Seattle Takeout Window Guide - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Westman’s is pretty much just a narrow garage, but you can also think of it as a really, really big window. It’s a great breakfast option for lox and cream cheese bagel sandwiches, and you can order online in advance. No matter what, always remember to get some pastries. From babka rolls to tahini cookies, they’re all fantastic." - aimee rizzo

Where To Get Brunch If You Hate Brunch - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Time is of the essence on a Saturday morning. You want something you can eat quickly at a counter and be on your way (because your box set of Workaholics isn’t going to watch itself). Yes, you’ll likely pay over $7 for a bagel and risk the possibility of everything being sold out except for pumpernickel. And yet, there’s a certain joy that comes with eating Westman’s salty lox spread on a fresh everything bagel in a garage that looks eerily similar to the home furnishing section at Urban Outfitters." - aimee rizzo

The 2020 Seattle Hanukkah Food Guide - Seattle - The Infatuation

"If your homemade challah braid ended up looking more like a bumpy ponytail, grab some from Westman’s instead. On Fridays, this bagel pick-up window on Madison sells fresh loaves of both olive oil challah and fennel sea salt challah for your Hanukkah table. You’ll also find tubs of caviar schmear if you want to add some pizzazz to your own latkes, and various pastries like rugelach and tahini chocolate chip cookies." - aimee rizzo

Westman’s Bagel and Coffee is Coming to Seattle’s U District | Eater Seattle

"I'm pleased that Capitol Hill bagel shop Westman's Bagel and Coffee is opening a second location in the University District within a few weeks; like the Capitol Hill shop, the U District location will serve a solid selection of bagels and schmears as well as sandwiches such as lox, whitefish, and bacon, egg, and cheese. Unique to this location will be a sandwich called The Brick Lane made with corned beef, English mustard, and dill pickles. The bakery operation will be moving from Capitol Hill to the new location, which will allow the business to add new menu items in the future. It will be located in the former Urban Dinner Market space at 5201 University Way Northeast and will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart

Best Breakfast Sandwiches in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"One of the city’s early bagel hits, this walk-up takeout window on Madison is a great early morning stop, featuring a selection of delectable spreads, as well as egg sandwiches and smoked fish options (the whitefish on an everything bagel is a popular item). Nearby Post Pike Bar & Cafe also features sandwiches with Westman’s bagels, with takeout cocktails, too." - Eater Staff

Google
ChatGPT recommended this place as the best bagels in Seattle… to me it was just an expensive breakfast sandwich. Salty egg with greasy bacon and I don’t understand the hype for the bread.

Tobias P.

Google
Second time coming here. Definitely top five of the bagel places in Seattle. Consistently good bagels and delicious cream cheese options. The queue was pretty long today and the staff was very friendly and apologetic for how long the line took, but still it was excessive with close to a 25 to 30 minute wait to get a bagel. Be sure to ask for what the daily special sweet and savory bagel options are. We’ll definitely keep coming back but will probably have someone wait in line for the bangles or the other shops at the farmers market.

Lindsay R.

Google
Too long of a wait for a bagel and consistently out of items. We have been going to Westman's pretty consistently once every weekend for a year. It used to be one of our favorite things to do on the weekend. However, the last few times we have been there, it has taken FOREVER to get our order, and they have been sold out of so many items. It has taken us on average 30+ minutes to get two bagels with cream cheese with no drinks. We even tried ordering 25 mins ahead of arrival, and we were still waiting over 10 minutes for our order with only one other person waiting at Westman's. Something has changed in the last couple weeks that has made this place unbearable to grab a bagel. Whatever has changed needs to be fixed so we can enjoy these amazing bagels again.

Alex M.

Google
Great breakfast sandwiches! We got the nova and BEC classic. I’m not a smoked salmon person but this was pretty tame so I enjoyed it! I did find it a bit off putting that to put tomato on a breakfast sandwich it was $2. The BEC on an everything bagel was perfect after a nice long walk around greenlake. So they hold up pretty well for being eaten an hour later! Will be coming back to try some of the other bagel types along with the smears. Their chai latte is pretty dang good.

Samuel P.

Google
It was honestly ridiculous that I had to wait 10+ minutes for a bagel with cream cheese (I literally ordered nothing else, there were 4 people ahead of me in line who also only got bagels). I don't know if they're understaffed or just slow, but either way, something needs to change before I will ever come back. Also I heard them say that they were out of everything bagels at 11:30am, which seems like another insane oversight to not have enough of one of the most popular bagels. Can't really recommend this place.

Evan A.

Google
Not super impressed with this experience. Got the Novi on everything bagel and the avocado toast on everything. The filling and smear were great but the seasoning on the bagel was very burnt which took over the flavor of the whole sandwich. The bagel itself was large and chewy which was good but not a whole lot of flavor in general. Drip coffee was great and staff was super friendly and helpful

Jason F.

Google
Just got home to find that my 3 bagels with cream cheese that I requested toasted were not toasted. This combined with the premade square egg they put on breakfast sandwiches have me at the edge on revisiting my closest bagel place. I think I need to travel further next time.

Gracie E.

Google
This was a great bagel as far as the taste, but without a doubt not worth the price. This bagel and a plain black coffee cost over $25 and you have to sit outside in a parking lot.

Todd L.

Yelp
Nice lady took my order and confirmed they make their own bagels. I requested a toasted bagel with the seasonal schmear. With tip, it was $6+. The bagel was warmed, not toasted, and I got a tiny layer of schmear. The bagel was doughy but good and I liked the flavor of the schmear but for the price it wasn't great execution or value.

Yelp
Seeing lots of reviews on negative customer service, which all may be true, but happy to share the individual who helped me yesterday afternoon was awesome and gave a thoughtful recc for my bagel combo. Re: the bagel itself, would I order again? Sure. Would I call it the best bagel ever? No. Super substantially sized but not very flavorful. But I'm not mad about it, expectations aren't high for Seattle bagels just yet
google avatar

Spanky M.

Yelp
It's fine. Is it as good as NYC bagels? Come one be real. Is it a fat light (not dense) bagel reminiscent of NYC bagel yea! The price is Seattle pricing. Had poppy seed bagel with schmear. Strong dece. I think a good spot to stop. I still think it's super crappy they charge $4.50 for web orders. Passing on the cost of doing business to customers is lame AF.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
My favorite bagels that I've had so far in the city! There are multiple schmear options (cream cheese) my favorite being the dill and black pepper. Their lattes are super delicious too! I love Westmans!

Sarah S.

Yelp
always love my bagels from here. however, when I walked up to the window, the open sign was off, window was closed, and the person behind the window was hunched over. when I asked "are you guys open" (which is a very valid question to ask considering the circumstances), the employee rudely responds "yeah, that's why i'm here". didn't realize i was getting a bagel with a side of attitude. surprised they didn't charge me 3 dollars extra for that.
google avatar

Wennie H.

Yelp
Bagels are good but I don't know if it's worth $40 after tax n tip. There was a bit of a wait. We got the carrot lox but I subbed the vegan cream cheese for caramelized onion on a plain bagel and salmon lox on a salted bagel. Both sandwiches were good, messy and hefty. I should have gotten the plain cream cheese because there were a lot of different flavors happening in the carrot lox. I think next time I will get a plain bagel because I really enjoyed how soft and fresh they were.
google avatar

Britt H.

Yelp
Service here was meh and the lox bagel I had was kinda burnt. I don't recommend this location of Westman's and I won't be back here again.

Uli V.

Yelp
I stood in front of a closed windows for over 15 minutes and never got to order. Is this place even open? Just go a half a block up to Morsel and get biscuits and gravy. This place is a joke
google avatar

Zehra S.

Yelp
Stopped here after the gym with a friend and am so glad we did, it was delicious! We split their lox bagel and got their orange juice. Finding a good bagel is so hard here so everytime I do I get so excited! I really liked how well the bagel was toasted, it was perfect enough to make sure the sandwich was still easy enough to eat. Perfect to come on a Saturday after the farmers market for a slow Saturday morning!

Yelp
OMG the bagels here are so so so good! I'm literally trying to figure out when to go here again. The egg and cheese bagel was one of the best I've ever had here in Seattle, very cheesy and good. The service here is amazing too. Unfortunately this place does not offer indoor seating but that shouldn't stop anyone from coming here.

Brea B.

Yelp
The bagels are vey good. The plain bagel I had has a lovely crunch outside and was filled generously with cream cheese. All the bagels in our party were delicious and enjoyed. However, when we arrive at 11am they had already ran out of tomatoes, and told me they couldn't serve the everything bagels open faced which is strange. Overall, good bagels and good service but disappointing that they were out of tomatoes :( we would recommend all bagels that we had!
google avatar

Ruby V.

Yelp
Super friendly service and the bagels and hot chocolate were delicious. We exchanged great ideas on how to cook or bake bagels. They have a few tables outside for customers to sit down and enjoy their meal.

Sophia K.

Yelp
Solid bagel spot and good service! Definitely coming back. BEC on an everything bagel was yummy

Lucy C.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! Their salt bagel is my favorite and I always enjoy their coffee. However, I have had multiple experiences with part of their staff which has rubbed me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, the majority of their staff is super welcoming, sweet, and always puts a smile on my face. Yet, there are others who have been rude and unaccommodating. One of their cashiers has rolled her eyes on multiple occasions, as I approach the stand, doesn't speak with me or confirm that she received my order - instead just walks away/closes the window after a receipt prints from their machine, and has left my food/drinks unattended outside the closed window without notifying me. There are other times where I have waited for her to finish her conversation with another employee before blatantly staring at me (not asking) to take my order. I take this as super abrasive and rude and tend to avoid the stand when she is working. Other than that, I have had amazing experiences with majority of their staff and would recommend as long as the opps aren't there!
google avatar

Chanelle A.

Yelp
I actually tried ordering through the yelp app for a pick up order but they actually don't receive those orders so when I came to pick it up it wasn't ready. I reordered but I recommend going early to get your faves! After the mishap, the employee gave me 2 extra bagels He was so so nice and my bagel tasted great!

Julia B.

Yelp
For the west coast, a really good bagel. The salt bagel in particular is a rare salt bagel that isn't overly salty, really good when paired with the scallion cream cheese
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
This place makes my east coast heart so happy - the closest thing I've been able to find so far! We always bring guests here for breakfast at least once per trip and our last guests ended up wanting to go back 2 more times before they left! Busy but worth it. Skip the coffee imo, but also Herkimer's isn't my favorite
google avatar

Graci E.

Yelp
Thought the bagels and sandwiches were good, but not $12 worthy. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese on and everything bagel. Thought it was cool that they scramble up all of the ingredients together, however, $11 is so overpriced for something I can make for $5. Not sure if I'll come back because of the prices, but love the location of the stand and how you walk up to it to order. Workers were kind and friendly.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
Terrible experience at the U district location. Blatanty overcharged when ordering and the person working the cash register couldn't articulate why she "had" to ring up a completely different menu item resulting in a $9 up charge for 2 pieces of cheese.. Claimed she didn't know how to add cheese separately and and proceeded to text "her boss" for several minutes after I asked to cancel my order.. What kind of business doesn't allow their employees to process a refund for an incorrect order due to employee incompetence? The best was when the spiraling worker couldn't control her emotions & said "dude no one has ever been this pressed before" .. Yikes. As if she doesn't have to work for over an hour to make the $25 she tried to charge me for 2 plain bagels with egg and cheese. Such pedestrian communication and unprofessional reactions from me simply questioning why she purposely overcharged me. I work hard for my money and I'm not going to hand it over to that thing with a bad attitude and scammy business practices. Don't waste your time here

Yelp
Really great bagels and delicious options for spreads. Have had the lox with dill spread and also a plain with plain cream cheese. They are very generous with the cream cheese! Drawbacks are the service is only so-so, the front window ordering area was pretty dirty (dusty and greasy costumer interface), no offer of napkins or a bag, and there is pretty limited seating or you feel like you are sitting in a parking lot. Oh the things we will put up with for a good bagel.

Kenny W.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday morning for a bacon, egg, and cheese and an iced caramel latte. Pros: Bagel was fantastic and brought me back to my east coast roots. Service was quick. Cons: While the bagel was great, they really went light on the "bacon, egg, and cheese" portion of the sandwich and was not what you'd expect for a $$ sandwich. The latte was just okay. Nothing was mixed in together well at all and the syrup just sat on the bottom. I'd come back here again, but just for a bagel. Not for a sandwich or coffee.

Yelp
New coffee and bagel window that had a soft opening in August. They are still getting things set up and are super nice. We got a ruglach that was super tasty. The pumpernickel bagel was delightful but the avacado spread had so much lemon juice that it was too sour to eat which was super disappointing. Still, I will return and expect them to improve as they get their sea legs underneath them. Welcome to the neighborhood!
google avatar

Camryn E.

Yelp
I stopped by here at about 11 am hoping to pick up a snack. While I was disappointed they were out of lox and avocado, the plain bagel I had was delicious. They used a sourdough bread and were generous with the cream cheese! The best part was my oat milk latte, which may be the best latte I've ever had. They offer a cute outdoor seating area which is perfect for these coming summer days. The service was quick and they were very friendly. I can't wait to come again :)

Kate B.

Yelp
The bagel sandwiches are amazing! Super warm and tasty and perfect for the morning. Quinn is so welcoming and positive and definitely made the experience amazing. We're coming back for sure!
google avatar

Jaime F.

Yelp
Delicious large bagels, so fresh and airy with a chewy exterior. All the flavors I've tried have not disappointed. Great staff and cute spot. I wouldn't recommend the hot sauce (just tastes like vinegar) but they have a great cream cheese selection.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
I have never waited SO long for coffee as I did for coffee at Westman's. 20 minutes!!! For two americanos and a latte. There was no line, no one waiting. It was really odd. I considered leaving at one point but luckily waited with good company. We laughed about it and eventually got the coffee. The staff person didn't acknowledge that it took so long just shuffled back inside. If you're looking for a quick cup of decent Joe - head down four blocks to Herkimers!

Ryleigh B.

Yelp
My apartment has gone to this bagel place at least once a week since they opened in September. Overall staff has been incredible and friendly. We usually get BEC with a fried egg (an unique to them) on plain bagel and the seasonal sweet schmear with cinnamon & currant bagel. Also the their Friday Challah loaf is to die for and it's perfect eggy dense loaf without it being too sweet like brioche. I want to experiment with make french toast with it the next time I can snag a loaf. (Because they -unsurprisingly- sell out quickly) So if you are in U-District and craving quick delicious breakfast, I would recommend them!

Malcolm M.

Yelp
Bagels that are like soft pretzels are yummy. Get there early bc they ran out of bagels at noon. The coffee was delicious.

Theo H.

Yelp
5 dollars for smallest drink like 6 oz. i threw it away because it tasted awful very bad

Jasmine S.

Yelp
waited in line for a bit because it was saturday, when we got our bagels they weren't toasted :( yummy bagel and pretty good cream cheese not my favorite though
