Great American diner experience! The food was lovely, so many options to choose from. The pancakes were super fluffy! Expect massive portions. We were served by Maria today, she was super nice to us and very patient with our order. Thank you for making our breakfast that much nicer 💕

I enjoyed our breakfast. We ordered a Florentine and California eggs Benedicts, and they were really tasty. Although the Benedict sauce was a little broken, you could tell the butter was slightly separated from the yolks. There was a line outside, but it didn’t take more than five minutes to get us in. The servers were very attentive, always making sure we had plenty of coffee and water. Mauro, our server, was especially nice.

Stopped by from a recommendation of the hotel staff at Intercontinental! Service was super fast and pleasant. The food was great and reasonably priced. I ordered water and quickly discovered it was tap water, so I switched to orange juice. I personally don't like tab water, so I thought I'd mention it in case others wondered. Definitely recommend it for a quick breakfast!

Had 2 dinners at this local diner conveniently located from our hotel on 9th & 42nd. Very extensive fare options offered at this diner with good quality and generous portions. They had the tastiest homemade chicken noodle soup and very good meatloaf sandwich or plated dinner. We ended up taking half our meal back for leftovers which tasted just as good the next day. Ivan is awesome, very attentive and efficient and especially patient with us as we took our time to peruse their menu. We'd have returned for another meal but they didn't have burgers on their menu. But will definitely return on our next NYC visit. Thanks, IVAN!

After a 5 hour bus ride from DC, a warm French dip sandwich in a nice quiet restaurant was just what I needed. The restaurant had a calm atmosphere; it was mostly empty except for a few other tables. The service was awesome; our waitress was friendly and gave us some recommendations. Food-wise, I can only speak for the French dip compare to other French dips at different restaurants. It was alright, nothing spectacular. The bread wasn’t too toasted to begin with; so when I dipped it it became too soft. Nothing inherently wrong with that, I’m just a toasty sandwich kinda guy I guess. The fries were pretty standard fries; nothing outstanding but pretty alright. The restaurant was nice and pleasant overall. I’m open to coming back, but I’ll likely get a different sandwich at that point.

Very happy with the food and service here. The food is fresh and tasty and I really appreciated their hospitality. They let us stay slightly after they closed the diner to finish the food. It’s usually really busy here, you might need to queue outside, but it’s worth it! We didn’t have to wait more than 10-15 minutes. Very reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. The pancakes are massive (about 20-30cm wide and very, very fluffy, they melt in your mouth. Besides of having great food, this is the birthplace of Seinfeld!

Wow what a find. Great American diner serving great and very reasonably priced food. Great service and friendly staff. Usual free coffee/soft drink refill.. Extremely fairly priced for New York. A must vist. We did quite a lot !! Oh and it can be very busy here so you might have to wait to be seated

I’m not sure why this diner is so well reviewed, the food was okay but not great. We had eggs, bacon, potatoes, toasted chocolate chip muffin & pancakes with real maple syrup. The eggs & potatoes were not that good, zero seasoning. The bacon was crispy as asked & was honestly the best part of the meal. The pancake mix they use taste like the kind McDonald’s uses, slightly chewy & the flavor was not saved by the real maple syrup. The coffee was horrible, like heavy tea run through a musty old gym sock. Why is it so difficult to get diner coffee worth drinking? Is it really so difficult to wash the coffee machines? We ate most of the food because while it was not great, we were very hungry & it wasn’t inedible. But it’s not worth the price at all & we won’t return. At least not for breakfast. Perhaps the other meals are better, but breakfast sucks.

Our first time here, we wanted diner food for dinner and this place was close to our off Broadway show we were heading to. Our server Stefanie and all of the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. You could tell right away that everyone there has BEEN there. The menu could be intimidating just because of its colossal size, but we had ample time to look through even though Stefanie came by to check. Our drinks came out fast--the ice tea is fresh. I had the stuffed tomato with tuna salad. He had the butternut squash ravioli and a cup of Manhattan clam chowder. We shared a side of waffle fries. The vibe was perfect. Some eccentric characters as the NYC diner backdrop. Otherwise, quiet, with the game on in the background so you can actually have a conversation. The food was delicious. The tomato had to have been the largest tomato clocked that week. It came out looking like they probably rarely have it ordered so the chef put their heart and soul in it. Waffle fries were crispy albeit a little greasy--possibly the oil temp had to be increased mid cook. But we wanted diner food so it all worked out. The ravioli was so tasty in a rich cream sauce. The clam chowder was clammy in very appealing way. It was stick to your ribs soup. Also, forgot to mention, the rolls were so good and halfway through the meal, I wanted some crackers for my tomato and Stefanie asked if I would want an assortment. I don't think I've ever been asked! Again, thoughtful. At the end of the meal, we wanted to share dessert. We were going to go for baklava but Stefanie had our best interests and said that it was one of the last pieces but not in a good way. I love the honesty. We decided on a slice of tiramisu instead and OH MY GAWD. It was the most delicious and decadent tiramisu I've ever had. This is the bar for me now. Anywho, loved the place, good service. We'll be back next time we're in NYC.

How many drunken nights have we ended up here? Don't answer that. This time, though, we were in the city and looking for a quick lunch on a Sunday around midday. Diner food sounded good to us and we were in the area so we decided to head over to Westway and hope there was no wait. We were in luck and were seated right away, and scored a table by the window to boot. Service was super-quick; we had our food in less than ten minutes. Both of us were thrilled with our choices (we both ordered sandwiches) and everything tasted great. We even got an extra coleslaw and pickle (shhh, don't tell). Would not hesitate to return on future visits.

It was alright - ordered delivery through postmates. The food did come fairly quickly and arrived hot. The omelet was ok, fairly basic, wish it had some more veggies. The Cajun chicken and rice was pretty bland and could have used more flavor. Again, not bad but probably wouldn't order again.

Hands down one of my favorite diners. I only come here for breakfast really on Sundays, Since is not far from me. They have a very comfy homey ambiance. The service is always good never had a bad server here. I will say if you do go on the weekends like me is very pack so you'll have to wait but is never a long wait. Now the food man I get the same thing every time I come. The corn beef hash with potatoes, scrambled eggs & butter toast. The corn beef hash is not to salty but is not bland is just perfect the potatoes eh there kinda just there sitting on the bench but when you add salt pepper cholula hot sauce and some ketchup on them wowwwww KOBEEEE! Overall the food in my opinion is good but then again I do get the same thing. Maybe next time I'll try something different.

I have been going here weekly for years. The service is attentive, food is fast, good quality for diner food and decently priced. This is the best diner in town!

loved it!!! Seating, service, and food is SO QUICK without compromising interaction or food/dish quality. On our NY trip, we stopped here twice for breakfast because it was so good and truly affordable for its location. Both times we ordered the hot chocolate 1000/5 which was rich and topped with a THICK delicious creme. We also ordered the Belgian waffles with eggs, potatoes and bacon, both good 4/5. But My favorite (apart from the chocolate) was their Florentine Benedict 1000/5- perfect balance of flavors with the runny poached eggs with hollandaise sauce over the English muffin with spinach and feta cheese, wow!! So so so good! Dish came with potatoes.

On a holiday from Scotland UK, it was our last night in New York and we visited westway diner after a day of sightseeing. It''s a no thrills diner with both locals and tourists dining but I loved it. The service was good. The food was good. The price was good and we left with full bellies and great memories!

Absolutely incredible breakfast! Mom and pop, 2nd generation owned, dinner close to Times Square.

I walked approximately 20 minutes to this location, which was the only seated breakfast spot we could find that morning. My family of 4 was seated immediately. It definitely wasn't a wasted trip. The menu was filled with just about every item you can imagine for breakfast. The portions were favorable. They even had cappuccino and flavors, which is an anomaly for many places to have a specialty coffee option - it's usually just black coffee that I have to add loads of creamer to and create a personalized latte. lol Service was exceptionally fast and accurate. And the ambiance was designed as expected for a diner. Give it a try if you're nearby.

Great service and food with comfortable seating. Everyone is very cheerful. Delicious breakfast, we ate there a couple mornings while in the area. Nice holiday decorations. You get a sense that they really care!

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat after a Broadway show. Prime location, close to pier authority. There's ample booth seating. Even better, you can order breakfast here at night. Got the pancakes, which were some very fluffy and chewy pancakes served with a plateful of packaged butter and syrup. Also got a side of chicken tenders with fries, which was supposed to be an appetizer but was meal portioned. Chicken tender was pretty juicy, fries were cold though, which may have been a factor that I showed up close to closing. Bring cash for a discount. Quick service.

Attitude of manager. Cheating on bills. Charging more than what's on menu. Will never eat there again.

Holy smoke - I'm from Texas and I can to NYC to meet the most gigantic chicken and waffles I've ever seen.... And that's for breakfast . It's enormous and fantastic . The eggs Benedict are perfect. You'll know how hard it is to actually poach an egg properly but for a very busy diner to get it right and just perfect is unusual. Our waiter. Please go see him. His name is Margarito. . Yup Margarita but with an O. Incredible guy but he just threatened to make me finish this enormous portion of chicken and waffles before he allowed me to leave. Consider that before ordering. Very popular with the locals and with visitors alike the service is fantastic and the general flow of people and ambience is what New York City is all about and as visitors we get to experience that in a small little microcosm .

Our group of nine had mixed reviews. Overall good. Service was courteous and very fast! Loved the chicken and waffles 4.5/5. We got the tenders but I recommend the chicken on the bone. Potatoes 1/5- they were too salty and not well seasoned. French toast 4.5/5. Over medium eggs 5/5. Omelette (build your own) 3.5. Overall we would return. The food seemed fresh.

We are Seinfeld fans so had to check out Westway! Our breakfast was delicious!! Everything was fresh! Our waiter was amazing! And the ambience was perfect! If you are looking for a traditional city diner experience look no further!! I will say the bathroom was a bit dirty. I'm still giving them 5 stars bc it was crazy busy. We waited in a small line but only for about 10 min.

So far so good. The line for this diner was out the door but very organized, only took maybe 15 minutes to get in. Ordered 2 eggs, bacon and a Belgium waffle, honey ordered eggs, sausage, potatoes & toast. Quick service and was all good. Coffee was mild and delicious. Love how they make their potatoes, thin slices of potato. Busy place, they are efficient and work well with all the people who came in. Great service and atmosphere

A walkby breakfast decision turned out well. Pretty standard diner fare done well enough, quick and attentive service, and apparently normal pricing made it a no-nonsense, fulfilling stop. No element outstanding, none disqualifying. We sat inside on the edge of out, which provided a good vantage for observing the street scene without being directly involved in the beggar/bouncer "negotiations."

It's been a few years and I'd forgotten that we visited this diner previously until I sat down to review it (again) - but in our recent visit during this holiday season, I'm upgrading Westway to 4 stars. Why? Well, the food is classic diner fare, reasonably priced, with generous servings, comforting and tasty. Plus, the service is great with a side dish of that swift New York City wit and chutzpah. We noted that a lot of local Hell's Kitchen residents were patrons as well. For lunch, I had a solid tuna salad melt and an outstandingly flavorful and meaty chicken rice soup; my daughters had good meals of: buffalo chicken wrap, Mediterranean panini, and strawberry crepes; my wife had a large and tasty veggie omelette. We came back again for breakfast the next day: one of my daughters had a very good eggs benedict; another had an equally good corned beef hash; and daughter no. 3 had chocolate crepes; my wife had a fulfilling oatmeal; and I had a simple but satisfying plate of eggs, sausages, and crispy hash browns. A good start to the day!

Was in a super rush and was able to grab some Chicken Fettucine Alfredo at lunch. I was concerned at first that ordering Italian at a diner was a bad move, but I was craving pasta. Turned out to be a great move! The sauce was rich, chicken was succulent and the thick noodles were amazingly al dente.

Excellent! The perfect American diner experience in NYC. My friend and I were looking for a place to have breakfast and this was the perfect spot. The place was packed and I expected to wait a little bit before being seated, but they were able to squeeze us in. The staff was working very hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. The menu had so many choices and the pricing was reasonable for NYC and breakfast. I got the french toast with strawberries and blueberries. It was delicious.

This place checks all the boxes of what a diner should be! Don't be discouraged if there's a line out the door. It moves fast. Service was prompt. The menu is your typical diner fare. We visited for breakfast both times, recommended by a friend who lives close by. I had the veggie omelet and it was generously sized. They refill your coffee often, which is to me the hallmark of a good diner. This is your no frills, satisfying diner experience. Glad I now have a favorite spot when staying in this area. Highly recommend!

Here's the main thing to know about Westway Diner: no matter what you get, EVERYTHING is good! I'm a little partial to this restaurant because when I moved to the Big Apple, this was the first place I ate after getting my keys to my place. One thing that I HIGHLY recommend is the gyro plate, which has a heaping helping of food that is exceptionally great. Another time I got the patty melt and it may be my favorite burger I've had in NYC so far, WORTH IT! The service is also really good and they're on top of each table taking care of people. And who doesn't love a vintage diner feel?

After eating so many fancy meals, we just wanted something basic and thought this diner would be the perfect spot since it received many positive Yelp reviews. It wasn't crowded when we arrived but they still sat us next to the trash/busing station. I should have asked to move, but I didn't. Throughout the entire meal all they did was throw plates and glasses and silverware into the bin which was right behind me and made me jump every time. Super annoying. The menu is extensive, almost too much to get a grasp on what you want. I settled on a California Club which was grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado on toast, served with fries. My food arrived quickly and looked nice. Looks can be deceiving. The sandwich was super bland, even with all those ingredients. The chicken was tough, and the toast was so toasted that it crumbled when you bit into it. Service was good, and prices are decent, but I just ordered the wrong thing.

Good food. Always a line of people out front. Get there early. If you are alone, they have counter seats.

Delicious food and excellent coffee, it's fresh and yummy, definitely a point to stop by. Love the ambience of the place, it's clean and organized one more point over there, let's not forget about service they're great and kind definitely coming back.

Asked the taxi driver, bellhop, and some random person on the street, where they would recommend for breakfast and they all said Westway Diner. We got the ribeye steak & potato's and the Roma omelette. We enjoyed our meal and the staff were all super nice which is always a plus. Ended up coming back for lunch the next day and dinner another day. My husband loves their steak dinner. I tried the gyro and the pastrami on rye and both were delicious!

I love this place westway diner is absolutely magnificent and the server leo is out of this world very polite and great to me and my family... And the food is absolutely delicious....

I craved meatloaf and found it at Westway. It was fairly typical meatloaf which is what I wanted. The portion was huge, 3 thick slices with a tasty mushroom gravy. The house salad included was also twice the size of most "house" salads. Soup or salad is included as are two sides. The portion of veggies on both our orders were huge and I'm going to add them to a soup I am making tonight. And a nice big baked potato arrived hot and hit the spot. My partner's fried chicken was a bit overdone but crispy and tasty. I'll be ordering again.

Classic breakfast again! Medium on stackable factor. Sausage was great. Bread was just regular white (no sourdough available). Bloody was just tomato juice I'm pretty sure- and no garbage! Son said 4.7 for the Belgian waffle. Daughter said 4.5 for red white and blue French toast. Wife said eggs Benedict was a 4, but also said coffee was awful. Great service and nice ambiance- very festive. Line wasn't bad either - moved quick.

I don't understand why there's such a line here (went for Sunday brunch) because the food was not good, even for diner food, and it wasn't super quick. My omelette came over cooked for my preference (and I also have never seen such a brown omelette haha) and I know I can make better, fluffier ones at home. Vibes reminded me of an ihop or Waffle House but more expensive. Compared to New York though, was on cheaper side ($13)

Here's the thing: Westway Diner doesn't pretend to be anything more than what it is ... which is a neighborhood diner with typical diner fare. It's not fancy or trendy despite its trendy location in Hell's Kitchen. It's not a date night spot. It's the place you go to for a quick bite or diner food. And that is part of its charm. Initially I gave this place a three star review (see below). But my expectations were a bit skewed. We've really come to like this place when we are in a time crunch or looking for something simple. The food is consistently good. The staff is mostly friendly. The service is mostly good (depending on who you get for a server.) Most of all, the food tastes fresh, is well prepared and flavorful. The portions are pretty decent for New York City. The menu is huge and offers and amazing (and wide) variety of options to choose from for every taste and eating particulars, including those who have dietary restrictions or what something more healthy. The negative reviews here are mostly related to delivery. I'm not sure that it's fair or reasonable since most places like this are better experienced by dining in. Westway has completely won me over.

A nice diner on the upper West side. Great selection, fresh ingredients, good coffee, fast paced, a little pricey but this is in one of the highest rent districts in the world. Heavy silverware, paper napkins, proper plates. Good, strong coffee. Basic preparation, nothing fancy. Good eats. No complaints.

This stretch of 9th Avenue isn't known for great eats, and Westway Diner didn't impress. Out with a friend for a quick dinner before hopping onto a Circle Line cruise, the big selling point here was the relative lack of a crowd at 6:30 on a Saturday evening. The menu is pretty standard diner fare: all day breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, Greek dishes. I went went simple with a buffalo chicken wrap. The dish came oddly crumbly with watery iceberg lettuce, barely melted cheddar, and a tame buffalo sauce. The pickle and slaw were bland, though the side of fries were nice and crisp.

On our last day in New York City, we wanted to have a nice breakfast and after checking out Yelp, I came across Westway Diner. The reviews for me don't do this place justice because from the moment we walked in to the time we left, we felt appreciated. We were quickly seated and after perusing over the extensive menu, we decided on what to have. I went went the Waffles and bacon, my son went with Breakfast Omelette and my daughter had the Chicken tenders. I know that we all loved the food and the portions sizes were great. I was able to speak with the owner and he is a wonderful person who is passionate about Westway Diner. Not only does he believe in what he does but he puts the work in to make sure customers are happy and have a great experience. Yes, I recommend Westway Diner and if you're in the area, please drop in and show some appreciation.

I went to this diner today and I will definitely be going back. My waitress name was Stephanie and she was the best thing about the place. The food was good but the service was amazing.

Food is not bad but their mannerisms are bad and they made me feel like I was a begging customer not a paying customer so I definitely will take my business elsewhere. You can't be selective to who you wanna serve. I placed a phone order for pickup and when I got there I stated to the two women that I placed a phone order it should be ready they looked at each other paid me no mind. Other customers came in after me they was very attentive to them while I'm still waiting to be assisted I had to walk around to ask other staff about my order where are they redirect to me back to the same two women at the front and my order was right in front of them. I didn't come in there with my hand out begging so this was a bad experience.

The service alone was enough to make this place 5 stars. Everyone working there is so nice. On top of that, you probably won't find better food in nyc. The diner itself is super cozy and makes you feel right at home.

The wait to get in was not too bad at all. Service was pretty good, even on a super busy morning, and food was amazing!

Dropped by for dinner on a Friday evening after going to RiseNy in Times Square; we wanted to avoid the tourists/crowds but had to stay in the area since brother's bus leaves from port authority, so the location of this diner was convenient for us. Staff were friendly and welcoming; service was quick and efficient. Food was delicious! I ordered a chicken salad triple decker with whole wheat (a must-order for me every time I try a diner), and brother ordered the Mediterranean panini. Chicken salad was perfect - it's the more finely minced type, not the chunky type, bacon was crispy perfection, the fries that came with it were excellent. Brother loved his panini but was slightly disappointed by his fries (he seems to have gotten the nubs and ends but it's fine because I couldn't finish mine); then we shared a slice of yummy carrot cake. Would def come back if I'm in the area and looking for food.

They have a luncheon special that comes with soup and coffee, but none of the soups are vegetarian so I asked for lettuce and tomato instead and the manager wanted to charge me an extra $2 for the change!!!! Horrible customer service. Also: food took sooooo long to arrive and was, literally, COLD When it finally came. I had to send it back to get heated. (My shoes stuck to the floor of the bathroom urine. And you know what they say. Dirty bathroom, dirty kitchen!) Avoid this place!

We ordered the Red White, and Blue French Toast and the Chocolate Nut Blast French Toast. Food was great, I give it a 4/5. If you like sweets I highly recommend the French Toast. Service was good, even though it was busy it was quick and our waiter was nice. The ambiance it's okay, nothing fancy but clean.

Best value breakfast in NYC- seated so fast, great fluffy French toast and eggs, and then out of there -fed 4 people in half hour! Highly recommend

Solid and fresh food. Delivery is always prompt and includes all the necessities (napkins, utensils, pickles, coleslaw, and the random side sauce requests I make). I've tried most of the menu and never had a bad dish. Chicken fingers can be a bit better at times, but the best burger and meatloaf in town! Wish it was at a slightly cheaper price point but suppose it's on par with most places in the neighborhood and quality is better than some cheaper spots. Overall highly recommend.

Visit Date: January 29, 2022 So I'm a crazy lunatic. I drove into Manhattan during a blizzard to hopefully exchange two past dated tickets to the show from 2001 that my co-worker was kind enough to give me. Luckily despite the blizzard practically crippling Long Island, Manhattan was still going, gotta love the city. I got to exchange the tickets, I took a fellow phantom phan who was free and we got tickets to the matinee show. After the show she suggested we come here to grab food. She was nice enough to treat me and I left a tip. I had a side order of sweet potato fries with maple syrup I put the maple syrup on instead of ketchup and she had the pumpkin waffles, apparently this a pumpkin year round diner if you're a pumpkin fan but maybe only for the pumpkin waffles. This is a lovely city diner that I didn't know existed and I'm glad that my friend and fellow phan suggested we eat here. I'd come back again!

Came here for breakfast on the 4th. We got sat down pretty fast thankfully, but when we left the line was starting to get long. The tables are really close to each other which doesn't give you much personal space and the conversations between table get merged with your own. The service was quick, like reaaally quick; our waiter was running and zooming through the tables and our food was brought at a crazy speed. We got the pancakes with banana to share and i got the greek omelette. The pancakes were delicious and thankfully they offered sugar free syrup which i always appreciate. The greek omelette was ok and the potatoes were average. I enjoyed the pancakes more than anything. Overall this place is a nice breakfast place, just wish the tables were a bit more separated from one another. Food is average, but might just be that I picked the wrong meal!

Westway diner is a staple in Hell's Kitchen. I have no idea how long it's been there but it seems as though people love it and they keep going back. Every time we are there I see the same faces pretty much. We went in tonight and I got my usual which is the triple decker tuna salad sandwich with fries. I also ordered the zucchini sticks. The sandwich obviously is delicious because I order it over and over. The sticks I didn't care for at all. They were bland and had no flavor - to me. To others maybe they will like them, but for me they were a no. Service can be a little crazy here but all in all it's a good spot to get a quick bite.
