I got recommended this place from one of my local friends. I was going to help her doing something at her house, so we stopped by to get some delicious take-out order. Even the restaurant has small space, but their fishes are big! My definition of the word big is variety of fishes, creativity, quality, taste and service. We got sashimi, Nue: Tuna, salmon, yellowtail wrapped in cucumber. This menu is very good for my diet because I try to avoid eating too much carb. I got 3 orders of premium sushi, Sea Urchin. Fish is fresh and I love all food I got from this place. Stuff was friendly and welcoming. My friend said this restaurant is one of her most favorite.

I was very happy we stopped by. The service was very good and the fish was very fresh. Great place for sushi, but parking is tough and the restaurant feels a bit crowded (not by patrons). Good prices imo. 4.5 stars.

Lit they got me right🙏🙏, very humble, funny and sweet waiters, food was 10/10, I was a little cold cus of the a/c blasting but I’m anemic so that’s mb prob bring a sweater, gave up free poki sticks, desert was good

This place is a true 3. Sometimes it’s a 5 sometimes it’s a 1. The first few times were amazing and fairly priced then 2-3 times in a row the food was bad. And then it has been a roulette « are you catching What the Fish on a good day »

I will order first time today . Deluxe sashimi 12pcs and salmon sashimi 6pcs , laker roll and miso soup I can pay $ 81.53 +tip so expensive and I was shocked. , I was so disappointed and money earlier. It was so terrible, so insincere, so small that it was very expensive and I won't be ordering again. I won't be spending my money on delivery charges and even tips. Waste of money it was such a terrible order.

We ordered 2 bento boxes. We normally order a la carte sushi from you but thought we would try the bento boxes. The quality was awful. Tiny rolls (there were only 4) that fell apart, very tiny piece of teriyaki salmon, cucumber salad was just slices of plain cucumbers (I added rice vinegar, myself). Food courts offer better bento boxes than this. I miss pre-pandemic What The Fish quality. You’ve now lost a customer. 😥

Priced higher than Sugar Fish, and quality is about grocery store level. Went in and ordered edamame, rainbow roll, and albacore role: that was 37$ (13 piece of sushi total) + tip ended up paying 42$. Service was terrible, asked for a side of sauce and they said it would be 1.50$ extra per sauce. I absolutely do not recommend this spot.

Don’t order anything from this place. I ordered gyoza and few rolls. Gyoza was burnt, rolls are not tasty and a lot of rice. Some rolls was falling apart. All the rolls had different size. And i paid for this bs $50. Very disappointed.

First off, love the name of this place and the acronym (WTF). A friend of mine came over to visit, so I ordered some items for us to share. Salmon Sushi (3 pieces), Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Tempura Spicy Tuna Roll, Spicy Garlic Edamame, & Miso Soup. The food was securely packaged and delivered on time. The miso was still hot when it arrived. The presentation of the sushi was nice. The Salmon was fresh and buttery soft. The Shrimp Tempura Spicy Tuna roll was huge and very tasty. The Spicy Tuna roll was good, and the Spicy Garlic Edamame was delicious and addicting. The prices were very reasonable, and the quality was good. Everything tasted fresh. I would order from here again.

I love this place. Small sushi restaurant across from my job. I love to go get away and get lunch! I am a creature of habit so I get: Shrimp Sushi and that AWESOME Baked Lobster Roll! OMFG...to die for last time I got some Garlic edamame, so good! service is quick and vey attentive.

And it happened again, and it was again a delight to consume nicely prepared delicious sushi - directly UberEats delivered to our mouths... PREVIOUS REVIEW Wtf! Wonderful texture and flavor! Ordered as an Uber Eats straight home, it was a wonderful and despite some transport shakeup nicely presented collection of tasty delights: caterpillar roll, crunchy roll, rainbow roll, blue crab roll, miso soup and seaweed salad. All without exception were excellent, fresh and as desired from the distance of my sofa! Can't be much easier ...

I wanted to try this place bc I was really hungry and but a bit on a time crunch. Although it is a sushi place, I was glad they had non seafood items. I went ahead and ordered the pork belly for take out based off their yelp page photo from door dash showing a pretty good amount t of meat. When I get to my destination, to my surprise the amount of meat was only half in comparison to the photo they posted, see their photo for reference. I am a bit irritated as I am really hungry and I ordered the pork belly bowl assuming it's exactly what was pictured. I feel cheated. Won't be going back

This is one of my favorite take out spots. My go to is the lunch or the dinner combination sushi plate. Just depends what time I order. It's really good and the sushi always tastes fresh.

Amazing! Got the sushi combo, shishito peppers, and green tea. Great quality and the delivery was super fast!

Smallest spicy tuna roll I've ever seen in my life. Complete waste of $10. Feel totally ripped off. Inside there were two tables surrounded by racks of take out, no room for customers. Don't bother coming here, absolute total rip-off.

Okay, I love this place. I'm newly gluten free and called to see if a few items I wanted were okay for me to eat. I'm not sure who I spoke with, and I wish I had asked because she was so incredibly kind. I placed my order a few minutes later, and she called me back to confirm what she did to ensure my food was gluten free (even including GF soy sauce) and mentioned certain things I had ordered for someone else weren't safe for me to eat. I appreciate the precautions. Not to mention the food was delicious!

Not the best sushi but good if you're in a rush and need something quick. Definitely better options in the area.

We spent $100 on sushi that basically looked like it came from a grocery store. They smashed their rolls on top of the wasabi, all the rolls were super plain and basic, they didn't include chopsticks, soy sauce or anything extra, and on top of everything else, it took more than an hour and a half to arrive. I honestly believe they must be paying for these positive review. So disappointing and so overpriced

I think through the years I've been very spoiled with the type of sushi I've had in both the US/ Japan. Food was still good, I've just had better. My friend and I ordered the VEGETABLE TEMPURA, CHIRASHI, SWEET SHRIMP SUSHI, and the RYAN ROLL. Chirashi had a really nice assortment of fish including uni & the sweet shrimp was delicious! ENJOY! PS: Got really lucky with parking right in front. But it can be hard, and I believe their is a lot behind the restaurant.

We used to order every week. After the fifth time they forgot to include one of our food items, we called to see if they would please deliver what they left out. The owner refused and told us to go get a refund from the third party service, even though it was THEIR error. Hope the sushi place on Hillhurst is better, 'cause we're done begging.

Beware. My husband got really bad food poisoning last night from this place. Attached is what he ordered. Seems like Salmonella or Listeria. It's a community duty to make sure others are aware and take heed in reviews like this. To note, he has no allergies to raw or shell fish. His portions were sloppy and he said the rolls looked " man handled."

Good sushi at a reasonable price. Ambiance is intimate, though they're a busy mobile order and takeout place so expect people coming and going. Service is prompt and professional. If ordering pickup (which I typically do) know that there's a lot of traffic on Hyperion. You can park on their lot (if you're turning right onto Hyperion toward Atwater) or park on the street (if you're heading back toward Silver Lake).

Ordered a dinner combination and a scallop roll via a delivery service. The fish to rice ratio on the nigiri portions was good and it's very nice that they let you substitute different types of fish for the ones you don't like as much. Everything except the scallop roll tasted very fresh. Scallops weren't bad or anything, but were vaguely fishy. Might have been mixed less recently and really heavy on the mayo. Wouldn't order that roll again. Main issue--and I've never had this happen at a sushi bar--was that whoever prepared it either hadn't been trained to cut fish properly or had started on the sake way too early. Some portions were fine but some were sliced with the grain in such a way that the fish was chewy to the extent you couldn't bite a nigiri in half. How nigiri is cut makes such a difference in how it tastes. The scallop roll was cut so irregularly it was almost funny. Also, the sushi rice was strange-not sure if it was al dente, had been sitting too long or just wasn't pressed right? Maybe because it was late on a Sunday (my bad for craving sushi on a Sunday) someone less trained prepared the meal or was just in a huge hurry. But I probably wouldn't order takeout from here again. Would give it another try in person on a different day of the week perhaps. Their spicy tuna mixture was beautifully seasoned and delicious. Unusual for that to be the best thing on the plate.

The sashimi special, you can't beat that. Service is solid. Ambiance is cozy. Prices are fair. I do wish the bar seats were available though. That's my only critique.

This is place has imaginative sushi rolls and incredibly fresh fish. They're friendly and welcoming, wonderful to interact with.

Mislead by the 5 star Grub Hub rating. This was a departure order from our regular takeout sushi place in Burbank. I wanted to give something different a try & was not impressed. It cost more for less. We had takeout--salmon & avocado cut roll, crunch roll, unagi bowl, vegetable tempura, shrimp tempura & spicy tuna roll, sweet shrimp. The tempura was particularly disappointing--oily & limp. Overall a sad experience.

The miso soup was really good not too salty and with generous portions of tofu and seaweed. The Sunomuno salad was too basic. It was really fresh and I liked that the octopi and shrimp were thinly sliced but it was missing some sort of dipping sauce to add flavor. By far my Clipper roll was the best!!! The fish was so buttery and fresh. The sushi rice was also not too dry or sticky. Loved it!!! Next time I'm sticking to the sushi and miso soup. Highly recommend this sushi spot if you in the Atwater/Silverlake area!!!

Food is so good and fresh! Crispy rice is perfectly crispy and toppings are so fresh and yummy. Wished their jalapeño appetizers was actually made with fresh jalapeño instead of canned jalapeno. The Vick roll is a must try and is my favorite roll.

Went here for a very early lunch and the food was amazing! Everything tasted delicious and fresh and our server, Nue, was so friendly and charismatic. The dining area was small (maybe only seating 20 people max) but I kinda of liked that! Felt like we were in a quaint little izakaya. We shared the shishito peppers, the Laker roll, Kings roll, avocado cucumber roll, and the Philadelphia roll. Everything was SO GOOD! My favorite was the Laker roll, the spicy tuna with ponzu was amazing! The shishito peppers were served piping hot and delicious too. I'll definitely be ordering delivery from here sometime soon, but as far as dining-in, 10/10 experience!

Quality sushi right here. Premium. Owners are nice and gave us an extra free roll despite coming in 20 minutes till close! Rainbow roll is great. Dinner combination bento was solid. Miso soup is quality. Great food and easy quick takeout. Would come again

I have only ordered delivery from here once so I can't speak about the location itself. When I received the delivery the order was correct and the food was packaged well. I ordered the BLCR (baked langostino California roll) it tasted pretty good at first but after a few pieces it started to feel pretty heavily drenched in the dynamite/mayo sauce. Would I order from here again? Mmm maybe, maybe I'd try to steer away from something that includes dynamite/mayo toppings.

WTF happened WTF? You used to be a go-to for the classic spicy rolls, but with them all priced over $10 to make spicy we opted for the premium. Maybe that is the point? Fish lacked flavor and tasted as if it had been thawed from frozen. Yellowtail was chewy and the meal upset both our stomachs. Service is good and friendly, but not sure what happened to this place. It is too expensive and lacked quality on this visit. Unfortunately, Taking it off our list because we really used to like it.

Came in and ordered my food worth close to $70 I ordered 2 sushi rolls and the rest salmon sushi I asked for hot sauce... Sriracha and was told I'd have to pay for it????? I tried asking why would I have to pay for Sriracha given I ordered a few.. 2 rolls and salmon sushi 5 order's. He proceeded to tell me what I ordered doesn't come with sriracha lol this insane lol I felt the need to comment because I find this unfair and honestly weird that they would charge me for 2 packets of sriracha $2!?!?!? I use to dine/takeout in this restaurant and this was never an issue. If you guys are charging for hot sauce to make a few extra bucks simply say it no need to argue with me when I mentioned I was never charged for it before. Not to mention they also wanted to charge me $1 for a lemon wedge ‍ When I asked to speak to a manager I was told we don't have any managers ..... I won't be returning.

What a spectacular gem this little shop is! From appetizers, to sides, sushi, sashimi, seaweed salad, to baked eel - the explosion of flavors and delightful staff make it a delightful experience best shared with friends or that special someone. Order the menu!

It's pricey but just perfect for weeknight take out sushi order. Fresh, put together nicely, kind staff, everything in order. Yes.

My first taste of WTF Sushi after several months courtesy of Uber Eats. Ordered the salmon avocado roll & the eel avocado roll. They were okay, not great. Disappointing in that the rice did not seem fresh (was somewhat dry - since the restaurant had just opened for the day, is it possible that they were using leftover rice from the day before?) & the roll slices kept breaking down before you could lift them up & pop them into your mouth. I had so looked forward to fresh tasting sushi today!

I'm writing this review hoping someone who works at What The Fish Sushi will read this. I've ordered many times from here. Either through DoorDash or Uber Eats. Most times I order from here, I receive my food as I ordered it. However. there has been a few times where I noticed the quantity of sushi is not what I ordered. I usually order two 8pc tuna sushi rolls which should add up to 16 but sometimes I only receive 10 pieces They're usually a bit bigger than normal but I don't understand why sometimes I get 16 normal sized rolls and other times I get 10 larger sized rolls. I much prefer the amount that's offered on the menu. Which is 8 sushi rolls per platter. I've never been bothered enough to write a review about this until today when I ordered two 8pc spicy tuna rolls. One 8pc with cucumber and one 8pc with avocado. I also ordered a spinach salad, a bowl of rice, miso soup and a variety of sauces on the side. Everything was fine except for the sushi. I received 10 larger sized spicy tuna rolls with cucumber "and" avocado. I still wouldn't of written a review if it weren't for the shrimp tempura that was also added into the sushi rolls. I never ordered shrimp tempura and I don't understand why someone would add shrimp tempura when it wasn't ordered. I know mistakes are made but I can't comprehend the logic behind the addition of shrimp tempura. Whoever made the sushi must of read the order, understood that it involved spicy tuna, avocado and cucumber but then decides to add shrimp tempura. I did not order Omakase. I obviously just took the shrimp out but at this point the sushi roll collapses upon itself and it's no longer the same experience. I don't understand why my sushi fluctuates between 16 pieces and 10 pieces and I don't understand the addition of ingredients that were never even mentioned on the receipt. There's a lot I myself can do to prevent this, such as picking up the sushi myself to make sure my order is correct but at the end of the day there's still a mistake being made. You guys have great sushi but I don't have confidence in your preparation. It's one thing to offer the incorrect quantity of sushi seemingly randomly. It's another thing when ingredients are add randomly. Thanks for reading.

Love this place! Great place to get poke bowls and all those bento box cravings. There is parking in the back and front. Front parking is all meters so be ready to swipe or quickly pick up your grub. Staff is friendly too!

I had a quick bite after shopped near Tjoe last week. Service was fast with sushi grade C-

A solid option for take out/delivery, the fish is high quality and well made, on the premium menu, the albacore is a stand out. Not five stars because they over do the rice and it frequently falls apart making the Nigri experience suboptimal. Other ppl though may prefer lots of rice.

If you want good, quick and inexpensive sushi in Silverlake, this is the spot. My go-to is the lunch/dinner sushi combo.

I agree with all the other reviews Mediocre sushi and way overpriced I haven't been in person but was really disappointed by my delivery last night. I ordered the roll with the filet mignon on top and was super disappointed by the quality of the sushi and meat not at all what I was expecting

Hmmmm I don't post reviews often, I don't know what is making me want to post this one. Me and my fiancé just finished eating take out from what the fish, the sushi is alright, though there is a variable weight to the amount of fish you get per piece. We both god dinner combos and some of the pieces barely fit on the rice, others were smaller than the rice they sat atop, though that's fine for the price. The real issue I guess is that the rice was like ROCK hard in all the sushi and sashimi, don't know it it was old or over cooked or what but it's weird that they wouldn't have noticed while assembling the sushi, we ended up taking the fish off the rice and just eating those which was good. Anyway, worth mentioning, rice is important. Or maybe it's not Yelp sucks Update: me and my fiancé have been sick for the pst hour in and out of the bathroom proceed with caution.

This is one of our fav sushi spots since we moved. We love that they are on Postmates too! Their Obama roll and crisp rice roll are must try's. We eat here probably once every two weeks.

It's been a while since I came here last - I was surprised by the freshness and quality of the salmon sashimi. They were very tender and glossy. They were good sized pieces!

I've ordered from here a few times. The sushi is decent and they have a few options, but it's a little overpriced for just 5 rolls. They used to only do window pickup but finally opened up for indoor seating. I have yet to eat there, but not sure if I'll be eating there anytime soon.

Some of the BEST sushi i've had in awhile! The food is amazing and very high quality. They offer creative and tasty vegetarian and vegan options with a wide variety. The service is so friendly and helpful. Such a cute spot and the restaurant has a warm, calm, and cozy atmosphere. The prices are good for the quality of what you're getting. Highly recommend! This place is a gem!

They were not busy and totally screwed up my order. I asked them twice to not put in onions because I'm allergic. They put them in and I live too far to bring this back. I mean seriously. How do u screw up that bad when someone is in front of you. I called and the woman took no accountability and just placed me on hold. Never eating there again.

Small hole in the wall. Service is speedy and efficient, refills and anything is brought to you upon your request. The food was fresh and tasty . The green tea they serve compliments the food well and refills are complimentary. Will definitely be returning.

Sushi night am I right? All your usual selections here and also a customizable sushi option. Very fast and accurate service. Would try again. The blcr roll was fantastic so much flavor going on. Try out the miso soup as well!

Wow! What an amazing sushi place! I just had lunch here and everything was so good! Yummm the Obama Roll is just spectacular! Must try! Everything else is great also! Sashimi is fresh and pleasant.

Ordered this place to go. Basic rolls (tuna, salmon, California, veggie, scallops). I'm a little annoyed because they forgot one of the items, but that could happen anywhere. Overall, quality was fine but nothing special. The fish was fresh but not vibrant. The proportions were fine. Despite really missing sushi, this was a somewhat disappointing experience.

Just ordered from this place and not only was the order late, but BOTH orders of sashimi we ordered were not in the bag. The food that did come is not very good. The fish is sort of warm. Kind of unappetizing. Doesn't taste good either. There are too many sushi places in LA to settle for this lack of attention to detail. What a disappointment. $100 delivery order, not good food, and major items missing from order.
