Whataburger is delusional thinking this concept would be anything close to "innovation" or "progress". Whatever money they are saving by making the process "lean" I'm sure they are losing in business from furious customers. This digital kitchen is chronically understaffed. I went on New Year's Eve, and there were only two employees. There were about 30 people total and our order took over 90 minutes.
Those poor employees were doing their best to keep up which made it impossible to speak to anyone to ask for an ETA, or get sauce, or correct something wrong with the order.
My colleague LOVES Whataburger but comes back from lunch every time with a unique story about how they royally screwed an order or how it took him 45 minutes+ to get his food.
Whataburger if you're going to spend so much money demoing a Taco Bell, constructing a building, getting "futuristic" kiosks, then spend a little extra getting enough staff.
This is a kooky corporate concept that completely misses the mark. Negative 5 stars.
