A Second Location of Whataburger Is Now Open in Woodstock, Georgia, and Lines Are Expected - Eater Atlanta

"After first opening in Kennesaw this past November, sparking furious debate as to which cities and counties are considered part of metro Atlanta, Whataburger continues making inroads into north Georgia this week. A second location opens Thursday, January 26, along Highway 92 in Woodstock in Cherokee County — a county the Atlanta Regional Commission deems part of metro Atlanta. Like the opening in Kennesaw, Whataburger in Woodstock will initially open for drive-thru service only, with dine-in service and ordering inside at the counter beginning in the coming weeks." - Beth McKibben

I enjoyed the patty melt. Bench seats were dirty, but it's a nice new building and most of the restaurant was clean.

I was half way done with my burger and realized there was a fuzz sticking out but turned out to be hair…I legit cried bc I am pregnant and it just ruined my appetite and had to go spend money somewhere else to eat after I just spent money here. I would like a refund bc I ordered for myself and my niece luckily she hadn’t ate the burger yet and I told her not to after I saw this in my burger…it’s quite disappointing bc we were both hungry. It definitely wasn’t my hair bc it has chz melted to it.

Google
Food was just as we ordered, dining room was cool and clean and the service was great. The manager went out of his way to bring our food to us and made sure we had hot, fresh fries. It just made the visit even better. Will definitely be back!!

Google
Came to the reviews bc I was impressed with my experience. Expected high 4’s average. Was curiously surprised to see other, loud detractors. Unit leader and his dine in team were fast, friendly, and gave exceptional service. My experience was completely contrary to others. See for yourself.

Google
This place is slowwww, and they leave it absolutely disgusting. Came here once, and then went back, and this same trash has been sitting here a solid 2 hours with employees just sitting around eating.. Someone needs to step it up!

Google
First time ever eating here. Traveling for a job and decided to try it. To save money leave off cheese. 60cents a slice. Go ahead and get a drink because you only save 1 cents not getting a combo. So I'm very full and so is my husband. Gigantic burger and sides. Reasonable prices. The burger is actually big enough to share. Very clean bathroom.

As a huge fan of classic American burgers, I'm thrilled to share my positive experience with the Whataburger in Woodstock! From the moment I pulled into the parking lot, I felt that familiar, welcoming vibe that Whataburger is known for. The service here was fantastic. The staff was friendly, efficient, and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. My order was taken promptly, and even though it was a busy time, my food came out surprisingly fast and exactly as I ordered it. It's always a pleasure to see a team that works so well together. And the food, oh the food! The Whataburger itself was a masterpiece. The patty was juicy and perfectly cooked, the fresh toppings were crisp and flavorful, and that toasted bun held it all together beautifully. I especially love their customizable options, allowing me to get my burger just the way I like it every time. The fries were hot and perfectly salted, and their spicy ketchup is truly a game-changer – it adds just the right kick! Whether you're craving a satisfying burger, a delicious chicken sandwich, or their surprisingly good breakfast items, Whataburger Woodstock delivers. It's clear they take pride in their food and their service. If you're in the area and looking for a consistently great fast-food experience, I highly recommend stopping by Whataburger Woodstock. You won't be disappointed!

Google
It is definitely the best fast food burger around here. I would also recommend the shakes and onion rings. Growing up around here it's definitely a nice sight to see a new place to try. Especially fast food it definitely has brought something new to the community. Only gripe is the drive through was long but it's probably because it's good and new

Yelp
I'm so happy to finally be able to give 5-stars to this location! My last two pickups from here were excellent and I do believe in giving people positive reinforcement. The time before last was a curbside mobile order. The team member who brought my order to the numbered spot apologized for the delay. (I had been so engrossed in reading email messages, I honestly didn't notice any delay at all.). The team member told me they had included a medium fries and a chocolate chip cookie for free because of the delay. How nice! The last order was a mobile order through the drive thru. I was the second vehicle in line. They got my order quickly and it was accurate including a couple napkins. The team member at the pickup window was friendly and their uniform was flawless. I complimented them on such a professional appearance. I think this Whataburger is turning around. I want to thank the whole team on their dedication to improve the guest experience. It's nice to see they're finally on the right path living up to a terrific reputation the chain has earned over the years.

Yelp
The amount of time that I hear "What?" Or "Huh?" at this drive-thru is incredible. I have to yell for them to hear my order. Please fix your headsets or the volume or something. I hear the cars behind me going through the same thing.

Yelp
We were on our way to Burger King -- what can I say, I like Whoppers! -- when I remembered that Whataburger opened on Hwy 92 to hoopla and fanfare. So we changed course. Hmmm.... ### I'm generally not a fan of banana products other than actual bananas, but their banana pudding shake is great! Strawberry, not so much. I don't think it's sweet enough. ### The regular burger is nothing to write home about. T gave it 3 out of 5. If you don't like mustard on your burger -- I hate it! -- remember to tell them, otherwise they'll slather it on. ### My patty melt was great. Tasted homemade. Thick -- I think it's two patties melded together with cheese -- and juicy. No unrequested dollop of mustard on this baby! ### I don't understand the appeal of skinny MacDonalds-type fries. That's what they have here. Eh. In conclusion, I think this place is okay. Clean, pleasant staff. Taking all into account, 3.5 stars. Compared to Burger King? I prefer grilled burgers. Whataburger's are not, though I suspect they're made to order. In my estimation, Burger King wins by a hair.

Yelp
My family and I visited the Whataburger on Hwy 92 in Woodstock, GA for dinner tonight. I had an issue with an order mixup in the drive-through on my last visit. I had reported it just for quality's sake. The operator of the store promptly contacted me, acknowledged the mistake, and offered me a combo meal to atone for the prior mistake. The cashier and the manager were great. I ordered the same grilled chicken sandwich as before, and this time it was perfect. A great thing about Whataburger is the options you will get nowhere else. I'm not a fan of the standard "Whatasauce" so subbing that out and adding some grilled jalapenos was a breeze. As was ordering the meals for the rest of the family. We sat down and our meals were brought out by a friendly server who offered us the ketchup or spicy ketchup. Yum on both counts. I don't know what it is about it, but it's great. Especially the spicy ketchup. One thing to note, as food is made to order, it may take a few minutes longer than your standard fast food spot. However, it's worth the wait. The grilled chicken sandwich is great. IMO, the best grilled chicken sandwich. Not dry, well seasoned, great toppings as you like them, all great. My son had a patty melt (great), with onion rings that were fire hot (also great), and a standard # Whataburger for my wife (add ketchup). Another note for Whataburger is that burgers do not come w/ ketchup unless you ask. I highly recommend downloading the mobile app and using it to enter your order to take max advantage of all the choices available. It was a great visit and we will definitely be back. We are thankful to finally have a Whataburger here locally!

Yelp
We finally had the opportunity to check out what the hype and long lines were about. I ordered the patty melt and of course the Dr. Pepper shake. Both didn't disappoint! Chicken strips were a little tough and were more batter than chicken. But then again, this is a burger place. Next go around I'll have to try the triple stack whataburger!

Yelp
I am glad Whataburger is in Georgia now. I have been to several. This location has always done me right. This last visit was not fast but the food was excellent. The service was great. Food was hot and yummy. I got the chili cheese burger and fries. It was a big burger with plenty of chili and fritos on it. It was hot as were the fries. Not terrible prices for the size. Everything has gotten more expensive. So we have to get used to the new normal.

Yelp
This is a brand new location that drew quite a crowd. The employees were very kind. The location was very tidy and the employees did a good job cleaning the tables between guests. My food was so tasty. The spicy ketchup was really good. The Dr pepper shake was delicious. My burger and fries were good as well. The next time I am in the area, I will return.

Yelp
Decided to try this place for the 1st time today Monday 9/18/2023 at 3:45pm. Pulled up to drive-thru, order was taken immediately. I ordered the Whataburger and small fries. Prices are not bad for the size of the burger. I really appreciated the fact that the burger was warm and the veggies were fresh and cold, which means it was freshly made. Burger came with an awesome bun, fresh and NOT SMASHED, fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles and chopped onion with ketchup and mustard. All of the veggies were fresh and I only had one complaint: this burger would have been a perfect burger for me except that it had WAY too many onions, which is very rare for me to complain of because I normally like lots of onions, and the burger patty was too salty. I really like chopped onions so it was a surprise to me to have so many onions on the burger...every time I took a bite lots of onions kept falling out. Again, if not for the over-salted patty and huge amount of onions this would have been my new go-to burger. Now I'm afraid to come back to this location in case this is the way they always prepare the basic burger! The fries were general run of the mill fries, just like any other joint, although they were reasonably fresh though limp. The gentleman at the window was very nice, professional and efficient even though he forgot to give me my change (it was only 12 cents so I let it go since he was great otherwise!). Since I didn't go inside I can't grade them on cleanliness or anything, but it appeared clean through the window. Parking lot wasn't littered like every other place in town. If that burger and fries had been better this would have earned a 5 star all around, but that burger ruined my lunch when it could have easily been fixed. I might try again, or just go to the other down by Town Center.

Yelp
I never like to go to hard on new restaurants, because I understand it can take some time to get the kinks ironed out & I'll have to say Whataburger is doing a great job! There is a bit of a wait, which is expected, but the line was moving nonetheless! It's pretty cool they're open 24 hours too, the laterrrrrr you go, the shorter the line! I ordered 3 chicken tenders with the honey butter sauce, the patty melt & added lettuce & tomato & a side of fries. The tenders were fresh and crispy & reminded me of the tenders we ate in high school with the fries, lol. They were good tho! The patty melt was DENSE, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't outstanding (to ME!). I think if I were to get the melt again, I'd get it without the sauce and onions, that was a bit overwhelming, yet underwhelming at the same time. The fries, thumbs down! BIG THUMBS DOWN!! No seasoning, hell, no salt and they were hard. :/ I would give them one more shot, but I can't promise anything. Lol. Again, its not bad, but for the price, a BIG MEH. The service was fast considering it's a new location & they just opened, the food was hot & fresh, the flavor was just mediocre.

Yelp
We got in line at 10:55 am on Sunday morning and did not get our food until 11:50am. So the line took almost an hour Only the drive through is open right now. There are two lines. The one we picked was a disaster. Ours was at least 2x slower. Also, they gave our food to the wrong person. When that woman came back to complain, they had her correct food ready to go and then had to completely remake ours. They should be double checking names to avoid situations like this. The food was good. We got a #4 (jalapeño cheese burger), a patty melt, #1 (regular one patty burger), and an order of onion rings. We liked everything but have two complaints: (1) the patty melt was undercooked - my dad ordered it and then wouldn't eat it because it was pink; and (2) the mustard on the burgers was overpowering.

Yelp
This place cannot get a curbside order right for anything. I like the food so I go back but if you order curbside you better check your order before you leave because it is going to be wrong usually in the form of missing food. It's not just once or twice it's every freaking time. Chastain Road location jacks it up constantly too. Employees don't care.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
My first Whataburger today. Burger was fine. French fries were great. Onion rings were good. I would stop again.
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
Decided to sit down and relax. Service is great bringing the food out to you and offering up the condiments. Burgers and fries were hot you can tell it was a fresh made burger. What I really like is the tomato and pickles are diced up so you are not pulling them out when you bite into the burger. Bun was soft and grilled just right. We will stop at a what's burger if we are ever in an area that has one. I do miss their breakfasts. Only thing holding this back from a 5 was the bathroom cleanliness. We passed on the info. This is surprising since the rest of the place is well kept.
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
The food here is decent. It wasn't the best burger I've ever had, it wasn't the worst burger I ever had. I had a root beer for my beverage, and I have to say that it was rather watery. The service was pretty good, they got that going for them. The ambience was amazing. If I was eating in ambience alone, this would be five stars. Overall my experience was nice. If I could, I'd rate it 3.5 stars. But sadly, I can't. So, 3 stars!
google avatar

Justin B.

Yelp
Waited in the drive thru for 20 mins and they got my order wrong. Went inside to get it corrected and they got it wrong again. Then when I expressed frustration the manager got an attitude with me. By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced at any food establishment.
google avatar

Mary W.

Yelp
Long drive to have this experience The food was served hot and very appealing to the eye. The service was first class. The associates were friendly and quick with orders. The young lady bring the order to our table was neat in appearance and very friendly. As we near completion of our meal, she asked if she could bring our milkshakes. Truly enjoyed the experience. Too bad there are no Whataburgers on the SOUTH SIDE OF ATLANTA!!
google avatar

Hap C.

Yelp
It's a good fast food burger, but waiting in line in the drive thru for 20+ minutes with only 4 cars ahead of you, and using the app to place your order disqualifies it from being "fast food." On the one hand it was midnight, but on the other hand there was clearly one car that took nearly 10 minutes to get their order, because we didn't move. Window mishap? Kitchen cooking slow? I dunno...but I do know that $20 for a breakfast bowl and a combo meal is on the pricey side. You can almost pay the same price at a sit-down restaurant for a comparable order, so if we likely won't be back unless we're in a pinch.
google avatar

Chris V.

Yelp
Consistently a top burger, with lots of choices to top it the way you prefer. I always order on the app and it's ready when I arrive, versus waiting in the drive in. Service has been hit or miss but the food is always good.
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
Ok y'all let's get into it. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich meal. I asked for my fries to be a large and no pickles on my sandwich. I also asked for extra sauces to try like the jalapeño ranch, and the honey bbq sauce. My drink was an Arnold Palmer with no ice. Once I got to the window I paid and was given the bag of food. Then the drink. I only glanced in the bag to see if sauces were in there and they were. When I got home it was not what I stated. The only think right was the sandwich with no pickles. The drink was a large and not my fries. The sauce was regular buttermilk ranch not jalapeño and my Arnold Palmer drink was just diluted sweet tea not a single drop of lemon. My name was spelled wrong just a mess. I'm not sure if they had a bad day or didn't hear anything or did what they wanted to do but I'm not a fan! The place is 24/7. They have two drive through lanes. And the store is located next to chic fil a. So you know it's busy on both ends. I have driven by before and seen their line wrapped in two lines and out the parking lot. The parking lot is not that big. When you turn in the second left is to the drive through if you turn left at the first part you will be in the regular parking area which has no outlet. No sign for that so I definitely turned wrong first. The sandwich: The spice was more like hot sauce. When you bite into the sandwich you can see the sauce that maybe the chicken is coated in to make it spicy. But it was giving more hot sauce that spice. It was crispy and had a nice crunch. If you don't like hot sauce I would not recommend. It's a building kind of hot. First bite will seem empty then as you chew you should feel your mouth starting to sweat a little. I thought it was good. I put bbq sauce on it because with no sauce or mayo it's very dry not super juicy. Fries - The fries gave me a McDonald feel. Skinny and salty but they didn't crunch when you bit into it. Maybe they were older cus they were more chewy but still warm. I'm not sure if I want to try this place so my recommendation is low. They had breakfast options which stop at 11am per the sign. And they have shakes , burgers , and an eclectic dessert menu. Try if you wish guys.

Rick T.

Yelp
Food was not hot. Service was extremely slow (20 minutes for a hamburger when the place was not busy.) Barret Parkway is a busy location, but not many customers here - because of overpricing, slow service, and mediocre food. Manager provided flimsy, irrelevant excuses. Won't be back
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
Waited 25 minutes in the drive thru for fries that tasted like they had been reheated and a lukewarm burger with soggy tomatoes. I didn't even get the ketchup I requested 30 seconds prior at the window.
google avatar

JJ P.

Yelp
Came here around 11pm Wanted to try this place out Only one drive thru was open, looked busy, Girl who took our order, she was good and nice. BUT now it comes to food now. Ordered 2 combos Very simple burger with fries and drink Simple cheese burger, they tasted like whopper from Burger King, not great about this place, had weird after taste, like old grease on the meat, fries were like McDonald's fries, shoestrings style, they gave me wrong drinks. I asked to change the drink but worker told me that I already touched it. How would I know if this is my correct drink or not if I don't taste them, anyways They were way too over priced for the taste and quality, I will not be back here.
google avatar

Jennifer V.

Yelp
I'm begging you- please don't come late at night. You will NOT MOVE in the drive through. Lines of cars that never seem to advance forward. I had already paid on the app, otherwise I would have left!
google avatar

Dominic T.

Yelp
Best tasting fast food burger I have found. Also it is a massive burger, so you are able to get very full for a better price then a Five Guys.

Mary M.

Yelp
I wasn't THAT impressed. First off, way too many oversized chopped onions that resulted in an unending case off indigestion even though I picked many of them off. On to the beef. The sandwich was large as was the burger. The beef was dryish but passable. The accountrments we nice - a tomato slice or two, lettuce, and some pickles. Too much mustard as it dribbled out the side and, from what I could tell, no catsup. It certainly was filling, though, really filling! The fries taste like they are from fresh potatoes. Nicely seasoned and bordering on crispy. Darker would have been nice but they tasted good as is. Would I go back, only if I was hungry and nothing else was available.
google avatar

MaryBeth N.

Yelp
We went to the grand opening of the new Whataburger in Woodstock ,GA. I was expecting us to be in line for hours and we were in an out in 30 minutes with our delicious food. The food was piping hot and was very fresh. We also got the Dr Pepper shake which I highly recommend. Overall I had an Amazing experience and will definitely be coming back!

Hay H.

Yelp
More than one opportunity to justify my decision to eat here; no justification. Not even the slightest hint of concern for the customer. We shall not give them opportunity or cause for concern as we will not trouble them again! We will be next door having chicken!
google avatar

Jordan M.

Yelp
It's nice that the place is open late and serves breakfast for 12 hrs (11pm-am), and the ambiance is lively in a nice, welcoming way. The prices are relatively standard for a fast food joint, but the food is overhyped in my opinion.
google avatar

Sean D.

Yelp
One word ... OVERRATED. As a native Southern Californian, the cult following and comparisons to In-N-Out Burger are laughable. There's just no comparison. A more suitable comparable to Whataburger would be Jack in the Box, which I still think tastes better than the food from this overrated Texas export!
google avatar

Andy A.

Yelp
Great food but very poorly managed location. Drive thru averages one car every five minutes. They need to learn from the people next door.

Heather S.

Yelp
0 stars . This whataburger location on highway 92 in woodstock is completely disgusting. My experiences here have never been well this will be the last time i give this place a chance, I ordered 2 meals and a drink with each. The incompetent worker outside taking my order put over 5 meals and sides on my ticket i paid almost 100$ in total for multiple bags of random food i didn't order. The young lady's name was alyssa she also was scratching scabs off her face while bringing out my order. i suggest nobody come here at least to this location it is obvious on how incapable the staff is. Kanes just opened up i have a lot better expectations for it then this shit shack.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
If you are looking for a late night snack DONOT come to this location! Ordered 2 burgers and after driving home just to find there was only 1. Tried calling the location and they did not answer. Was not given any drinks and when asked for the the drinks they guy said check your receipt instead - as if we didn't buy them! The burger was cold, the cheese was not even melted and fries were cold!!
google avatar

Elaine C.

Yelp
Not a bad burger, would definitely go back, but not sure why everyone went crazy at this brand new location. Traffic reports on the news, etc., because of the "new whataburger" seemed a bit contrived. Good food though.
google avatar

Michell W.

Yelp
OMG! I grew up in SE Texas and frequented Whataburger as a kid and remember them being pretty good. I was really excited that this was opening up and waited patiently for the lines to go down since they opened. That hasn't happened yet and with good reason. I ordered online and picked up and WAS NOT disappointed. Whataburger is cooked to order, hence the long lines AND the most delicious hamburger ever made! When they sought out 'to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, "What a burger!"', they succeeded. They still have spicy ketchup too! Welcome to Woodstock Whataburger!
google avatar

Catherine B.

Yelp
Just plain bad. Cold Burger, cold fries, spicy ketchup has less flavor than Heinz regular. Service was sssssllloooow, no line, simply no hurry. Will not return.
google avatar

Lena R.

Yelp
Overpriced. Almost $30 for 2 burgers and 2 fries, no drinks (although cheaper than 5 Guys) Fries were nice and crispy. Service a bit slow, but it was not open to dine in yet. It looks nice from the outside. Not sure why they have 2 drive-through lanes built with the right lane having to be serviced by employees walking orders from inside. Maybe it will all make sense later.
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
I'll be honest, This Whataburger location is Mediocre at best I've tried better locations. It is not all it is chopped up to be so I would not recommend this particular store if you are a first time Whataburger customer. The food is always a little over cooked here, fries are always a slight bit cold and taste redipped into the fryer to warm up, and the service is definitely a hit or miss. I have never been inside the drive thru is set up kind of like Chick-fil-A.
google avatar

Amil J.

Yelp
If you looking for a late night eat and the food is fresh then this is your spot. The onion rings and fries were fresh and crispy. We had the cheeseburger and bbq chicken strip sandwich...
google avatar

Vicky L.

Yelp
Had a line at the drive-through but moved fairly fast. The food was good. It took a while for us to get home so naturally the fries weren't the best anymore. Whatacatch dinner had two pieces of generously sized fish which were pretty fresh and hubby enjoyed the burger.

Michelle H.

Yelp
This was my third time I've had an issue with my breakfast order. Whereas, they either forget to put items in my order or don't cook the food correctly. I asked for my sausage and bacon to be cooked well done. They only gave me 1 sausage patty that was barely cooked and the bacon wasn't well done. When I told them they forgot the other sausage patty. They gave me a OLD/HARD sausage party in a box. Everytime I come here it's in the early morning when NOBODY is in drive thru. My order be the only order they have to cook and they don't even be making my damn order right. The employees are super lazy, don't follow directions, and always get an attitude when you tell them about the order they messed up. I will never patronize this location again.
google avatar

Cheryl H.

Yelp
Let down. Burger had a grey color to it. Definitely NOT fresh. Wayyyy to much mustard and I've never had a bun so heavy. Taste is meh. Definitely not a go to place for me. I'll stick with Freddy's!!
google avatar

Jim L.

Yelp
After all the hype in the Cherokee Ledger and seeing the drive-thru lines, I thought this would be a really great experience. Not!! This was one of the worst burgers I have ever experienced. Tasteless and mushy, with three pieces of chopped iceberg lettuce, an unripe tomato slice, and tasteless meat. So disappointed! All the five star reviews are evidence that Southerners do not know a great burger and will eat anything you put in front of them.
google avatar

Lacey G.

Yelp
Disgusting food and the WORST service w we . Why would anyone eat here ?!??? Ewww the longest liens And somehow if there are only a few cars in line, you still wait 45 min for the slow people working. I'm it sure why. This is not days food , but maybe it's not supposed to be?'
google avatar

Franklin B.

Yelp
Yay. Whataburger is the best burger in the fast food category. Glad it is finally here. Reasonably priced. Great service. It is crowded because it's good. People are lining up because it's good. Go in the off peak hours for less crowd. Got the regular cheeseburger and the jalapeño cheeseburger combos with fries and rings. Can be hard to a wrangle table, it is crowded because it's good and reasonably priced.
google avatar

S T.

Yelp
Seriously? A line to get this subpar, fast food, who cares burger? I'll say this, the place was nice and clean.
google avatar

Brandon D.

Yelp
Staff was top notch! A pleasant experience. Food was made fresh quickly and with a smile!
google avatar

Philip L.

Yelp
Do not got go for breakfast, it is bad service is terrible employees playing to much. Food terrible. No one caried enough to ask.
google avatar

William M.

Yelp
Went there for the first time. The place was packed - probably 20-30 minutes to get my order but when I home the items I ordered were correct . The what a burger was everything I had heard it was-fantastic!!. Best burger not cooked at home by far.
google avatar

Leanne F.

Yelp
So i have been to Whatburger in Texas, knew food would be good. But, the line, only drive thru open, was long!!! The lady taking our order messed up so much, literally took us 10 minutes to order food. Line would go faster if they had someone that knew how to take the orders. Then, the girl came out twice to get our name, then brought out food, it wasn't ours. Ugh! We got our food, when we got home , drinks were coke instead of Coke Zero. Ugh!! $52.00 expected my correct order, especially since i ky drive thru open. Won't go back till dining room is open. Not impressed!!
google avatar

Marcia H.

Yelp
Took 25 minutes to get a dry, cold, tasteless burger. I don't get the hype.
