Where to Eat, Drink, and Visit Around Woodstock, Vermont | Eater Boston

"I visited the WhistlePig Whiskey Parlour in Quechee’s historic Parker House and enjoyed the inviting second-floor tasting room with leather sofas, dim lighting, and antique frames; rarities like an 18-year double malt rye aged in virgin oak and a 12-year cask rye aged in oak, Madeira, sauternes, and port barrels are sometimes available, and visits are free with a required 30-minute reservation." - Valerie Li Stack

Whiskies From Unexpected Countries - AFAR

"Originally launched on a reclaimed dairy farm and now operating a distillery in rural Vermont, this rye-focused producer sources and custom-treats casks from around the world and even seasons its own oak, creating complex, well-aged rye expressions. The brand emphasizes aged, high-quality rye with crafted cask programs and has collaborated with artisans (including a Vermont glassblower) to present its whiskies as premium, design-forward gifts." - Devorah Lev-Tov

I will say from a whiskey standpoint this was worth five stars but the tasting room was rather small and cramped. Anyway we normally stick to small micro-distilleries but couldn't resist the chance to do a tasting for this whiskey. Any guy way these guys really specialize in rye whiskey although they do have a bourbon and a wheated whiskey. So they do this tasting in flights of 3 and we did the Core and Distillers Craft flights. Vermont Nemesis to 1 oz per customer so the flights are pretty small but that's plenty to get a good taste. I'll save both of our favorites was a 12-year rye, but I don't think we'll be buying it anytime soon at $119 per bottle. That turns out to be relatively cheap as they have a 15-year rye at $289 per bottle and a 18-year rye at $399 per bottle. The 12-year ride is finished in three different wine casts so that probably really contributed to the smooth taste.

Made a special trip to come and do a tasting while visiting family in Vermont. Excellent choices of flights to get a sampling of the different whiskey they offer. Just a heads up, VT only allows a 1oz pour per person or try the flight of three. You can purchase some merch and bottles of whiskey there too. Great old victorian house is the perfect setting to enjoy a Vermont made whiskey in.

Super nice setting and the grounds were very well kept. Unfortunately it not open to the public. VIP invite only. BIG bummer we drove an extra hr. on trip back to Virginia from Vermont. Wish it was posted that way.

Cloud, our server/hostess, was absolutely amazing! She knew EVERYTHING about each sample and took her time with each of her guests! She suggested exactly the right tasting for my wife (who’s not usually a whiskey person) to really enjoy. Great ambience, great service, great time for me and my family on our Father’s Day weekend.

There is no food: just great whiskey and rye. Just about every Whistlepig whiskey and rye is available for purchase. Many are available for tasting. Seating (capacity) is limited, so plan accordingly.

The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The tasting area, while small, is still inviting and cozy. A must stop for any lover of whiskey.

Great visit! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and delightful to talk with. We learned so much and had so much fun. We each did a tasting flight. Each tasting was unique and gave us a chance to understand what we liked and why. We walked out with the bottles of our choice to take home and savor later.

It’s not a bad experience as the variety of what you can sample is great. What you should now before you go is that you get a total of 1 ounce of a tasting, so if you do a flight you get .33 oz per rye. Also you can not ship anything from the tasting room, so if you are flying home sorry Charlie and they don’t sell the good stuff. Even though they had a few bottles of Boss Hog, not for you. Tasting room was nice but lots of challenges with VT law and lack of stuff to buy. Disappointed we were.
