Where to Eat, Drink, and Visit Around Woodstock, Vermont - Eater Boston

"Part of Quechee’s historic Parker House has been transformed into a tasting room for Whistlepig, distillers of some of the country’s finest rye whiskey. The second-floor tasting room is all inviting leather sofas and dim lighting, with antique picture frames telling the history of the house. Some rarities are available only on the premises, such as the 18-year double malt rye aged in virgin oak barrels, and a 12-year cask rye aged in a combination of oak, Madeira, sauternes, and port barrels." - Valerie Li Stack

Whiskies From Unexpected Countries - AFAR

"Originally launched on a reclaimed dairy farm and now operating a distillery in rural Vermont, this rye-focused producer sources and custom-treats casks from around the world and even seasons its own oak, creating complex, well-aged rye expressions. The brand emphasizes aged, high-quality rye with crafted cask programs and has collaborated with artisans (including a Vermont glassblower) to present its whiskies as premium, design-forward gifts." - Devorah Lev-Tov

I will say from a whiskey standpoint this was worth five stars but the tasting room was rather small and cramped. Anyway we normally stick to small micro-distilleries but couldn't resist the chance to do a tasting for this whiskey. Any guy way these guys really specialize in rye whiskey although they do have a bourbon and a wheated whiskey. So they do this tasting in flights of 3 and we did the Core and Distillers Craft flights. Vermont Nemesis to 1 oz per customer so the flights are pretty small but that's plenty to get a good taste. I'll save both of our favorites was a 12-year rye, but I don't think we'll be buying it anytime soon at $119 per bottle. That turns out to be relatively cheap as they have a 15-year rye at $289 per bottle and a 18-year rye at $399 per bottle. The 12-year ride is finished in three different wine casts so that probably really contributed to the smooth taste.

Cloud, our server/hostess, was absolutely amazing! She knew EVERYTHING about each sample and took her time with each of her guests! She suggested exactly the right tasting for my wife (who’s not usually a whiskey person) to really enjoy. Great ambience, great service, great time for me and my family on our Father’s Day weekend.

Kelin was our staff member/server. Very knowledgeable of all liqour. Made our first visit memorable. Did a tasting and bought a few things. Area is intimate and not loud at all. Great area to have a great tasting. No food options.

Great visit! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and delightful to talk with. We learned so much and had so much fun. We each did a tasting flight. Each tasting was unique and gave us a chance to understand what we liked and why. We walked out with the bottles of our choice to take home and savor later.

Kalen, our host was very well informed and easy to get along with. The product, of course, is outstanding. The atmosphere feels historic.

This is a very unique spot that feels like a true speakeasy. The service is on point and we were lucky enough to only have one other customer there. I can imagine that when it’s busy, it’s a little tight. That said, you’re only allowed an ounce pour (they do have flights which I highly recommend) so you’re not going to be there for hours.

On our last day in Vermont my love and I took a little drive. I was surprised to learn that my favorite rye whiskey was made in Vermont and there were few tasting rooms around you can visit and take the opportunity to sample some of their newest and most delicious creations here. Now there is no food here and you can only only have 1 ounce total so for 3 sips that's barely enough but our host Bill was great. Very knowledgeable and enjoyed learning about the distillery. The best part of course was sitting across from my love, giggling and enjoying our Vermont getaway. What a magical place to celebrate our love and journey. Thanks for the adventure make everyday worth living. Your moon,💋🖤🖤💋🖤
