White Castle

I’m standing right in front of the counter and no one is taking my order. There are 6–8 employees working inside, but zero coordination or accountability. I waited more than 5 minutes without a single acknowledgment — no “one moment,” no eye contact, nothing. This isn’t about being busy; it’s about poor customer service and lack of basic responsibility. Very annoying experience.

The food was good BUT that's not why it's 2 stars. The 2 stars are for the way it felt trying to breath and have some sort of pain in my gut. If you don't feel well or you want something quick, don't come here. But everyone's body is different so please enjoy the food. AGAIN THE FOOD IS GOOD, I just had a bad time with it.

Not worth it! No friendly service or standard maintained in the food. God forbid you park for an hour when getting food from there, you also get wrongly towed and end up paying way more than you are ready to pay. This is my first and last visit to this evil place. Will advise my friends the same. If you're reading this, please really reconsider your decision, you deserve better!

White Castle has the best fast food burger buns. But, I want to shout out this location because I always pull up with a $5 coupon and it’s never a problem that I’m broke and paying 10cents cash and the rest on my card. :) This location always gets it right and it’s so gooooood. I can’t replicate this with them frozen boxes :(

Finally made it to White Castle—a bucket list item inspired by Harold and Kumar! The food lived up to the hype; the sliders were satisfying and hit the spot just like I’d imagined. However, the experience was a bit let down by the indifferent staff, who didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming. Despite that, it was worth the visit for the iconic sliders and the fun of checking it off my list.

The African-American female, who was working the night shift 9/3/2025 gave me horrible service I order number 12 sausage sandwich and large coffee. She must’ve gave me some old coffee that was sitting there all night sandwiches were cold. Never gave me the full amount of potato tops that I deserve.. Horrible service she needs to be trained or take some pride in her work .for sure. She didn’t treat me like I was a customer that comes there at least three times a week.

As soon as I walked in, an employee immediately started yelling that there was “no Indian food” and “no halal food,” even though I hadn’t said anything yet. I am Indian, and the way he said it was very rude and uncalled for. He also added, “This is White Castle,” in a very disrespectful tone. The behavior was extremely rude and arrogant. I didn’t order anything—I just left the place.

Do not go here if you want to have a good experience

Stopped here for burgers and fries and all. We had good service, and they places our orders right, Nice vibes and cool people. Louise was a good server. Drinks were on point. No complaints from myself.

This place literally looks like a castle! However, the only inhabitants are homeless people! The counter looks like it's behind a glass wall so thick that they can barely hear you. Is it a bullet proof glass, or is it to block the coronavirus? I got the 10 slider bag with medium fries for about $13. I feel like a 20 slider box was around $15 back in the day. Were these sliders better than the frozen ones you can buy at the supermarket? Technically, yes because it has pickles and ketchup. It's just so satisfying to eat a ton of mini burgers. Maybe next time I'll just get the chicken rings instead. The fries are like the shake shack crinkle cut fries.

This white castle gets three stars at this particular location because they need to work on communication. Although a friendly staff some of them weren't really listening and for that my order was wrong. I didn't want to make a big deal, so I said nothing because I did enjoy my meal. I would say if you're close to this location, sure, get a bite to eat because the food was still good. Happy Yelping!

They staff doesn't change the oil so everything tastes awful. Oh and also don't go lat at night because the staff is always fighting and everything takes 5x longer. I mean I know it's a White Castle but gosh dang does anyone give a damn about anything they're doing at this place? #foodguaranteedtogiveyouastomachache Wish I could give zero stars

2 stars for the wonderful Mary working the cash register! And one star for the delicious fries. Maybe it's me but I really didn't care for the 3 sliders I got or the Oreo vanilla shake.

PROS: Keep in mind this is a fast food joint, the food was fast and always prepared as expected. Whenever I'm here the staff is very kind to me, which is rare when you're confronting fast food employees. Theres tons of parking which is rare in Jersey City CONS: The place is normally filthy and the small place is packed with people. They're also in a congested area by the intersection which makes it difficult to leave OVERALL: This is your normal typical white castle. If you can deal with the location and if they can clean up where people eat than it'll be a great fit for lunch the next time you're out.

they get your car towed even if you are a customer. park at your own risk. If someone is a customer and the receipt is on the dashboard - why would you tow their car. messed up service and way to do business. this is not how to treat customers. on top of that feeding them junk food.

White Castle I still just order the original, original with cheese and the original with cheese and bacon. Remember these are sliders so don't feel bad about getting a sack or two full of them. Last time we had the White Castle sliders were in Chicago by Chinatown, they were terrible as I made a special trip to order for my kids so they could try them for the first time. So I was with a friend on a work trip and he had never had White Castle Sliders so he ordered one slider, I laughed because it is about 2 bites so he ordered a second one. These were actually good like I remembered from over 20 years ago

This is the first White Castle I've ever been to. The sliders were tasty, but didn't seem very special. They very much resemble fast food. I did however like the pickles. They helped give a slightly more fresh taste to the sliders. I was surprised each slider already had ketchup and mustard in them. That was a cool experience. What really made this place stand out was the service here. The staff was very friendly, and the guy who gave me my order was very accommodating when I asked for some condiments.

Went through the drive thru,ordered 6 white castles, 10 chicken rings AND a chocolate shake. Got my order,no shake,they didn'thearit throughtheintercom. . At that point I just drove off. As I was driving I tried one of the rings,it wasn't even hot,luke warm at best and full of grease. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

I love their breakfast slider because they use real eggs. Coffee is good too. This location has small dine in, so I always take it out.

Tried an Impossible Slider here; this was my very first time trying any Impossible product. I would say that the Impossible Burger comes far closer to imitating real beef than anything I've had before. They've got the color and appearance mostly right, down to imitating the redness of raw meat, though it's missing a oily sheen on the outside. It doesn't taste like pure ground beef, but it does taste like there is some meat inside, sort of like a mushroom meatloaf. I'd be happy to eat this all day long. So I give Impossible Foods thumbs-up for this great creation. As for the White Castle part of the slider, I can't complain either. The toppings were chosen well and helped compliment the patty. However, service was a bit slow; we had to wait over 10 minutes even though there weren't many customers.

Nothing like the movies make it to seem. What's crazy is I got some fresh ones of the fast food joint tasted ehh but had some extra ones that I left in the fridge and tasted better reheated. So I was like wtf. I mean I do get the frozen box usually at the store but it's crazy the fresher it is the worse it is....

Typically fast food joint located as a very intersection in Jersey City so expect the major traffic. The service is quick but not so friendly. There's several parking spaces but unfortunately because its located nearby an Indian shopping street with minimal parking, many other shoppers pull into this parking lot and standby or double park. The annoyance is when White Castle doesn't enforce parking rules or call the tow truck. I tried to avoid coming to this location. The only time when I'd stop by is when I'm really craving a mini slider and I'm ordering it to go through the drive thru. I wouldn't encourage dining in at this place. Watch out for the panhandler here too which management fails to remove them off their property.

When you got those late night munchies, White Castle hits the spot! Service was quick. Parking lot. Cheese Sliders - 10 for $8.99 - Steamed bun, grilled square beef, and a slice of that american cheese. If you don't pay attention, you can knock back 10 like nothing! Addicting! Harold and Kumar knew what they were talking about!

I was so pleased with the service I received from this business. The women at the window name Lillian went over and beyond to help me find the perfect item." "I was very impressed with the quality of the product I received. I love her high energy she was very pleasant. We need more people like Lillian to make customers happy thank you .

If you are a human being don't eat at this place. The bullet proof Glass windows and locked doors and tons of surveillance cameras is a reason not to buy here. The prices have been raised on your favorite items due to higher wages for employees.They make you pour your own drinks too. The poor service from the cashiers with an attitude at this location is an issue. The food is hard to keep down due to it being undercooked. Just don't be fooled by the smell and nostalgia of the past. Keep driving when you see it.

Lol... How did I forget to review this place? It was all my Jersey friend would talk about. Hahaha. Well, I tried one of these over-hyped burgers. The burger patty itself was not very good quality. But the sauce makes up for it. I don't know what they put in that sauce but it is pretty damn good. Too bad the patty isn't. Lol. So, I won't go into detail, but the next day I thought to myself that this place should be called brown castle. =X They often compare this place to Krystal's, but I don't remember that side-effect happening with the Krystal burgers. I'd give this place a higher rating because of that sauce, but honestly, I am afraid of the side-effect. Lol.

If you're going to be labeled as being open 24 hours, can we as consumers please get an explanation as to why you cannot order inside at certain hours? This is absolutely unacceptable to your consumers who now have to pay an arm and a leg for delivery when it's noted you're open 24 hours. On top of that, you're app not only gives a pickup option which wouldn't work since you've decided to lock your doors at an unspecified time, but your app gives error messages when trying to place an order for delivery, forcing your consumers to use third party apps that charge delivery fees! This is absolutely inexcusable! Hopefully someone at the corporate level sees this and takes actions since clearly this ain't the fault of the employees working hard to complete orders

The food is great, I'm mean who doesn't like White Castle right? I have a problem with the service. There's this black chick that works there with a huge chip on her shoulders. I don't know maybe is that fact that she under paid. If that's the case, seek better employment. There was an elderly woman that ordered hot chocolate, she asked or a spoon or a straw To stir her chocolate. The woman replied, your chocolate is already stirred you don't need no spoon. You want a spoon go home and get one. The woman turned and looked at me and asked, did I do something wrong to this woman? I said no ma'am, she's probably just have a bad day and handed the elderly woman a straw so she can stir her chocolate. If I am paying for a service, the server should not have a say on how we eat our food. She is very rude and condescending and really needs another career choice.

White Castle food from this location is nasty and cold. I ordered it thru Ubereats and they sent me cold food and no sauce for they dry ass food. Their drinks taste like water wtf man! Never again!

First of all let me start off by saying I was on the line for a half hour on the drive-thru I get up to the window and because they rushed me so much on my order I forgot two things a soda and a sloppy joe the lady put the soda on my order but said if I wanted the sloppy joe I'd have to go around all the way again they couldn't put the sloppy joe on my order but they put the soda on my order that was total crap okay every single time that I go to this place anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour I'm waiting for my meal and you can't add two things to my order the manager said no okay when I'm done I'm going to call corporate and tell them exactly what happened I'm even thinking of boycotting the White Castle in the neighborhood and pick it in front of it on the sidewalk which I'm allowed to do because it's public property to stop people from going in and buying food that is total crap you couldn't add one Burger because you was so lazy as it is it's the worst White Castle the only reason why we go there is because I don't feel like going all the way to my Long Island house to get one you guys are lazy slow and you don't care about your customers at all and this place deserves to close down because it's terrible like really how hard it is it to run a fast food place I could go in there and turn that White Castle around and be lines at the door for the food you guys are lazy you don't care about your customers it's the worst White Castle in the world

I have not had White Castle food in over 4 years. I had a sudden craving today when I passed by this WC on Newark Ave and Kennedy Blvd. Ordered 5 cheeseburgers and 5 fish. The Fish was overcooked and tasted like it had been cooked earlier in the day (or last nite) and sat around until stupid me ordered some. The Cheeseburgers, the same , Overcooked and dry, Paid over $16.00 , I did not know prices increased that much over 4 years. Anyway, I threw it all out after tasting one of each and will never , I mean NEVER go back.

Solid service, especially considering the neighborhood. The staff deliver with a smile and ask clarifying questions instead of assuming. I stopped in one morning for breakfast (don't ask), and had a flawless order. Scored myself three sliders: 1. A classic - did the job, and gosh, I love the pickle they put on the thing. 2. A fish - less tasty than I remembered, it's a mini Filet-O-Fish. 3. A ghost pepper cheese slider - whoa, there's actually a lil' kick to this guy! If this were a role-playing game, I'm sure I just gained new, strange attributes.

My Togo order was a bit messy but the food was tasty and hot. Only did the drive through, parking lot was dirty too.

A great little burger/slider joint near Indian street/JFK blvd. Best thing about this place is that they have free parking and drive through being on the busy street. Service is great unless you want something unusual from their menu, in that case they take a lot of time. The good thing about it is that they'll let you know in advanced that it's going to take around 5-10 minutes. The staff is very polite and helpful and good to work with in case something is wrong with the order. The food is always freshly made and delicious, specially their new ghost pepper sliders, they're spicy and hot. The bathroom was not very clean and there was no soap in the dispenser, makes you wonder how staff cleans their hands. Otherwise a nice place to get snacks and sliders. 3/5

This location doesn't accept valid White Castle gift cards. I tried to pay with gift cards last night and they said there was nothing on them. I asked them to check the gift card number on the back and they refused to do so. I then pulled out and checked it myself on the White Castle website and they both had $25 on them. The staff weren't rude but they kept on trying to blame me instead of taking a minute to actually check the gift card using the GC number on the back. Try the one in Union because they accept gift cards and the staff seem to be much more friendly.

I have been coming to this White Castle 4 over 30 years now the food is decent. I was craving White Castle so I decided to stop had to regular Burgers which were super delicious and nice crispy on the outside soft on the inside crinkle fries. However hours later my stomach was in shambles and I had to lay down the entire night. I didn't have anything else to eat so I know that it was the food that made me not feel good. Will I still go there yes because the taste of White Castle is completely worth it haha!

Our brand new gift cards didn't work! We drove from NYC to NJ and paid for tolls to satisfy our White Castle crave and having to pay for the meal instead of using the gift cards really made the experience unsatisfactory-and stressful! Please fix the machine!!!!

A co-worker went there for lunch and took orders from some of us. I ordered 2 double cheeseburgers, 1 chicken sandwich and 1 order of onion rings. He returned with the order and OMG...the bread on all my sandwiches were hard as a brick! I couldn't even eat them...in the trash they went. The trip from there to the office is less than 5 minutes so why are my burgers ice cold? The chicken sandwich was dry and cold as well. They provided no condiment packets either. Its like they didn't have to make fresh ones, just use left over sandwiches from last night's shift. Never, never, NEVER again will I order from here. You SUCK!!!

We've always wanted to go to a White Castle since that movie came. The staff were very nice although it was a little alarming to give an order to someone behind bulletproof glass. The food though is along the lines of BK or McD, that is, marginal, at best.

Stopped through the drive thru. The service was acceptable, this is more about the food. The buns greasy and the meat lacked any flavor - more oily than anything else. The fries, the potatoes were barely ripe, and as such tasted rather off. And the sweet tea tasted smoky for some reason. Eh. I'm disappointed.

Cravers, descend upon Journal Square and join me at the most royal of fast food dining establishments. Journal Square's White Castle has fast service and they make their burgers the way you expect. Oniony and scrumptious. Thank you.

The service was PAINFULLY slow. We were on line with no sign of movement for a while when the guy in front of us started yelling (and I mean yelling... like in my ear) to the lady at the counter why was it so slow. The lady started being defensive and yelling back which created a yelling match where the other employees started yelling back at the guy. Eventually he got frustrated and left... and for some reason after he left the line went faster. I'd probably give this place 1 star but this place is the only White Castle I've seen that offers Contea Sweet Tea! I expected it to taste like crap and not like southern sweet tea at all but to my surprise it was pretty good. God bless this White Castle for having that lovely beverage, all other White Castles should too. Mmm... I love me my sweet tea. Too bad this place wasn't cleaner (every surface was grimy and had ketchup stains) and bigger (if you have to stand in line you may have to end up standing outside because the place is so small that a line of more than 6 people will probably have you outside) I'd probably rate it 4 stars based on the Contea alone... yes, this is how much I love sweet tea.

There's no White Castle in Seattle so when I saw this White Castle location I just had to try it during my trip in NJ. The original slider is excellent with fries way better than the frozen. This location is super busy. Brought some original slider back for the kids and they love it. Food - 5 location - 2 Service - 4

absolutely trash ass service just sat in the drive thru for an hour just to get up to the window and for them to say they didn't receive my order, besides that it looked dirty with a bunch of bums hanging around, I'm actually glad I didn't get the food the way that place looks I probably would have gotten sick.

Whether or not you're a fan of White Castle, this is not a great location to get your fix. (Oh it is a fix) I've been here a few times and the employees either can't understand English or are perpetually confused. Either way its annoying. Good luck trying to get in and out of the lot too. If you're not walking, just getting into the building can be a pain. Look if you want White Castle, go for it. I certainly have. However if you just want something quick for on the go, look somewhere else.

I know it is pretty crazy after eating all that food at Mana with the fellow Yelpers from Jersey and where ever else, I headed here on the way to the train. I like to head to various White Castle locations that are not in my neighborhood, it is just like a ritual. I don't know I was just really in the mood for some Onion rings. Honestly, that was all I ordered. It hit the spot, lol. Best $1.70 that I spent that day after the fact of you know, hanging out with all the elite people.

I ordered food from ubereats I ordered a chocolate milkshake and sausage and eggs no cheese (because I am allergic) waffle..once I got my order I received a soda no milkshake at all and my waffle had cheese which again I am allergic to and bacon even tho I ordered sausage horrible experience

I don't get it. I've been dying to try White Castle for a long time, even more so after watching Harold & Kumar. It's now clearly evident that you need to be high to enjoy the burgers here. Maybe my expectations were too "high," but even for fast food these were absolutely the worst burgers I have ever eaten. Mushy grossness was my first thought. Is my car still here was my second thought (more on that later). I managed to eat 2 sliders before I couldn't take it anymore. Maybe if I had grown up eating these it would be different. But it's sad when your sliders make McDonald's look gourmet. On the bright side, my fries were yummy. Side note: This particular location is located in the hood. While the employees are protected behind bulletproof glass, customers are left to fend for themselves should a gun battle ensue. Dress appropriately in Kevlar and please lock your car doors. Don't say I didn't warn you.

The one star for just being there. I went to this location twice and the first night they said they were out of burgers. I had kids with me so I asked if they can make some and I don't mind waiting. The lady told me it's a 10min wait. We waited about 40mins for our food. The second time around they were out of burgers again. We went to Union location instead.

The food is delicious, mouthwatering 4 bite burgers made the same way each time. The staff changes often but the greasy burgers of yesteryear remain. The only part that sucks is the management. They will tow your car regardless of you being a customer or not...I literally watched them hook my car while I was chomping down on a cheeseburger inside the castle. I had to rush out and let the driver know, he apologized and explained the management asked to tow all the cars.

The place is a dump. It is not clean. And the burger I had order they were cheap but bland. There was no taste what so ever. I would not prefer to come here again. The only thing I liked about this place was the staff. They were quite friendly.

Only came here because I was visiting from the west coast and had never had an actual "White Castle" slider. Went in late night and the place was filthy. I should have walked out at that point. Got a couple sliders to-go and ate them as soon as we got to where we were staying. Got violently ill after eating. Was up all night throwing up. Save your stomach and get the frozen White Castle burgers you find in the fridge at the grocery store and cook them yourself at home. They are actually better than what I had from the restaurant.

It's sad that they need pawn shop style bullet proof glass at the registers but behind that glass are some very friendly people. I have been buying impossible sliders here (silicon valley R&D is now in the castle) since they started and staff was even nice enough to bring mine to my car since they take too long (made to order) for drive-thru. Will return.

Late Night Danger Everything Seems Undercooked Overwhelmed Staff Many White Castles are located in seedy areas and attract drunk/high customers in the evening, this one gives you all that and more! On occasion I have a craving for junk food after work (3:30 am.) and drive through the taint of New Jersey on my way home. Heading north on Kennedy Blvd I look to my left at the WC and see one car placing their order at the drive-thru, bingo right? I should know better. I found out what takes the FAST out of food at this location: This is your brain on drugs The five people in the car ahead of me spent the next 10 minutes trying to maximize their eighteen dollar collective fortune while cleaning out their car, tossing all kinds of trash out the windows and cranking music. Let me get... five of these and two of those, six medium... no small of that. Ten with cheese - no three without cheese and on and on, WTF! The guy taking the order was VERY patient saying, so you want six with and four without and six small? No, I said three of those and five of them some extra this on that, no make it two without on that and on and on until the final decision was rendered: A "Crave Case no cheese, cause no one in this car like cheese". That's right, over 10 minuets to order a box of plain burgers and a few sodas! The play What was going on was as you order the screen gives you a list of the items and the price. These doped up geniuses figured they would try to manipulate the order to spent their entire fortune on what their clouded heads thought was going to cost eighteen bucks, while the rest of us waited, their first try was $31.56! The line now had four cars behind me and the folks were becoming impatient honking horns to which the protagonists responded " f them, we were here first!" After some fifteen minutes I got to the window, the guy was very apologetic and offered me a free drink, I said no thanks it's not your fault, he handed me my order and a large coke and apologized again. Two Stars for the valiant employee working the window! Pro Tip: Always leave enough room from the car in front of you to escape if things go bad.
