"Breaking bread at this popular cafe is always a good choice — the in-house bakery turns out fresh baked scones, tarts, and muffins in the morning while delivering a lengthy menu of lunch and dinner options. Amazing food and great portions. Was a bit loud but we were here during the rush. Will come again! I recommend the quiche and the hummus <3

I cannot rave about this place enough. Been coming here for years, and the food is ALWAYS delicious, full of flavor, and just plain great. My favorite dish are the Chilaquiles!!!! But everything I've tried has been an explosion of flavors on my palette. I believe it's a family owned business, so as always, let's support our local restaurants.

Google
A cute little place tucked back on Memorial and Kirkwood. This was our first time here. Atmosphere was clean and classic, food was delicious. My husband had the French Dip, which was delicious, I had one of the pizzas - which was also delicious, but a little salty with the Stilton cheese. Wine was affordable. Will be coming back to try some of the other things on the menu, would recommend!

I dropped by for lunch and happy hour later in the week. Both were wonderful dining experiences. The restaurant wasn't what I expected. It isn't simple counter service. It's sort of casual chic. Aside the dining area, there's a small bar, a private room for luncheons, and an outdoor patio. The outdoor patio is adjacent to a side street and doesn't get direct noise from Memorial. Service and food was exceptionally good. I've only tried the pizzas but probably will make it through the entire menu over the next few months . The happy hour features wine and beer and a small food selection. Definitely worth a visit.

My hiking group and I had a wonderful brunch experience at White Elm Brasserie last July 16. We were all exhausted from a long hike in the morning, but the refreshing atmosphere of the restaurant instantly lifted our spirits. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they made us feel welcome right away. To re-energize from the hike, I ordered the breakfast belly burger, which was absolutely delicious. The patty was made with ground beef , topped with a hefty serving of braised pork belly and all the fixings. It was the perfect way to refuel after a long hike. The restaurant is located in the Memorial/Energy Corridor area ,a charming neighborhood, and the interior was decorated in a warm and inviting style. Staff are knowledgeable about the menu and made helpful. The portions were also generous, and we all left feeling satisfied. Keep it up White Elm!

Google
Just had a business brunch meeting at White Elm with a client and, not only was the food outstanding, but the environment was very pleasant and it was easy to hold a business meeting there. The staff was very professional and nice. The service was great. I ordered the chilaquiles and my client ordered the French toast. Both dishes were delicious! White Elm has a chef dinner menu that they invited me to as I was asking them about the restaurant. As well as a Happy Hour. This is a wonderful place for a Sunday Brunch and maybe I’ll stop by one evening to try their dinner.

Google
Coffee came out room temp. Waters came out after our app. Just really slow service. The tortilla chips on the chilaquiles are soggy. Corn chowder was good. Eggs are good. Really nice atmosphere.

Google
How is this place not packed? The food and atmosphere are fantastic! Adorable place inside, I got the quiche, amazing! Wow! Huge! It took me all weekend to finish it. My friend got a croissant and it was perfect too. Reminded me of the croissants in Paris. And iykyk, the mimosas were poured perfectly! I'm going back. Try it if you haven't.

Yelp
Second time visiting. 2nd time happy happy happy! Came for weekend brunch twice. The quiche has been exquisite both times. The potatoes are delish. The breakfast Sando is quite tasty, the omelette is very good too, we also had pancakes for the table and also very good! The service is stellar, fast, efficient, accurate. Water cup was never empty. Ambiance is chill and relaxed, a great neighborhood spot, recommend.

Yelp
Came here after going with my sister to get her wedding dress altered, and this place was in the area. I saw some good reviews so thought we'd try it out. First impression: it's a cute restaurant, perfect for a casual brunch or lunch. The aesthetic is clean and modern, also a little rustic. Service: Service was good! Food came out fast and can't complain! Food: After much deliberation, I chose the Raspberry Beret (chicken sandwich). I tend to like sweeter foods, so this was right on the dot for me. ! I really liked how the chicken was moist and how the flavors all came together after every bite. My mom got the banh mi, which she liked! I will definitely be recommending this place!

Yelp
You need to update your hours on your building. It literally says Tuesday through Saturday 4 pm to 9

Tracy D.

Yelp
Easy to find, plenty of parking. It's a neighborhood type of restaurant. Plenty or indoor and outdoor seatings. There's a cute private room that you can host a big party groI came on a Sunday for brunch. Seafood sweet corn chowder (4/5) Breakfast pizza (3/5) Tartine Mushroom (1/5) Tartine Salmon (3/5) - would be a lot better if it was smoked salmon instead of roasted salmon. Overall, decent restaurant and I would come back to try their dinner because that looks better than the brunch.

David H.

Yelp
We came back again for breakfast. We can't stop coming to this place. We had the French toast and traditional breakfast plate as well as some mimosas. The service is always excellent. The prices are right on par or cheaper than some "fast food" breakfast options these days. If you're in the area, gotta check this place out.

Priyanka S.

Yelp
An excellent hidden gem, with the best servers. Whenever we tell them, we are going to share the plate, they divide the portion into 2 and serve. So thoughtful. The ambiance is so cozy and cute.

Cathy S.

Yelp
This is a cute little neighborhood cafe that I've been wanting to check out and had a lovely time for lunch. The menu has a bit of Asian fusion flavors and provides a good variety of items to choose from for lunch. I opted to get the thai crunch salad and it did not disappoint. The salad was a full portion with a decent amount of dressing and a good amount of salmon in it as well. It was more than enough to fill me for lunch. The atmosphere is light and airy and the service was great. Pricing is as expected for a cafe (around $15-$20). I would definitely come back to try the other dishes!

Fletch F.

Yelp
Fantastic food, good service and great atmosphere. Will definitely go back, brunch entrees and cocktails on point.

Christina A.

Yelp
Service was not friendly. The place is beautiful and we drove all the way from Katy just because I really wanted to try an new place and French toast. We spent over an hour looking for a place and choose the White elm. When we walked in we were attended to fast but the waitress want really friendly . She took our drink orders and boom we saw it breakfast ended at 11 am. It was 11:07 when we walked in and 11:13 when we got the one drink . We asked if it was possible to order breakfast. She quickly said no , didn't ask the kitchen or anything . I usually wouldn't be annoyed by this but everyone there was done eating and there was only 3 parties there in total. So technically we were the only new business they would have been handling at the time. Well we decided to leave and not even drink the drink because I wanted breakfast. I probably wouldn't try again because the service the start wasn't friendly. Beautiful place tho so 2 stars for the beauty!

Gail F.

Yelp
This restaurant is a treasure hidden on Memorial Drive. The selection is delightful and food is excellent. Service is always nicely done.

Vickie P.

Yelp
The place is the cutest little place. We loved the decor and vibe that it had. We also loved the our server. Her name is Charmele and you ask for her for service She was fantastic in recommending items for us to try. First, let me say the portion size of every plate was very generous. It was plated well but the down side was it lacked seasoning on several of our choices. It was a common agreement on 3 of the 5 entrees orders. The place was very busy and business seemed to be doing well. The deviled eggs were a big hit. The Monte Cristo was great as well as the White Elm Plate. The others need salt, pepper and a bit more help. Maybe it was an off day because it was our first time. We all agreed if we were in the neighbourhood we would try again. The music was kinda loud and hard to have a conversation at some points. The people behind us commented the same thing.

Austin C.

Yelp
The food is outstanding breakfast, cappuccino, lunch and drinks, dinner. It's all delicious. The owner is a very nice gentleman that always seems to have a lot on his plate, but handles it very gracefully. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a good, peaceful, friendly meal. Service is great. There was a slight hiccup with one young lady in service but over all the place is a success. The owner is a good man. I have read some of the bad reviews and I disagree with some of them.

Zo M.

Yelp
Looking for a new place to Brunch? Saturday to Sundays 8 to 3pm you can find some delicious appetizers such as overnight rolled oats with Greek yogurt and cacao nibs or even tartine with avocadoe cilantro pumpkin seed pesto and pepitas. They even have delicious The Breakfast hand tossed pizza's with goat cheese and spinach and 3 sunny eggs.

Carissa C.

Yelp
My family and I really enjoyed this neighborhood cafe! We were able to enjoy their Houston Restaurant Week menu. We were a table of 7, so I was able to try a bit of everything. My favorites were the Salad du Tropics, Pequena Costilla, and the Strawberry Sopapilla Cheesecake. The salad was very fresh And I really enjoyed the oranges. The Pequena Costilla was a super tender braised short rib which was very flavorful. Lastly, the Cheesecake wasn't overly sweet and was more like a strawberry tart reminiscent of one that we used to enjoy as kids. Service was great, and the restaurant is very cozy. We'll have to make another visit to try out their brunch!

Yelp
Very disappointed in the Egg, goat cheese, bacon jam, spinach pizza = Overcooked, Heavy thick no flavor crust, No Goat Cheese, 2 big Blobs of egg on 2 slices (too much egg & not on every piece= should have been 1 egg cracked in middle, Egg even over cooked, No Bacon Jam & tons of Bacon pieces = Not in list of ingredients = Do NOT order this, Not Good! $16.00 go eat Mo's pizza. fig pizza that I ate at a White Elm in 2023 was delicious. Very Small Burger with bone marrow butter = Appeared a precooked Pattie & where was bone marrow butter, Meat disappointing, Bun was delicious.. go eat State Fare's Burger. I tipped 22% as not servers fault for disappointing Food. Sadly, I will not be back. Now I know why never busy when I have been.

David L.

Yelp
Visit regularly for coffee and pastries - friendly service nice decor - love it. Owner and staff recognize us and exchange banter.

Aryani N.

Yelp
The place was swamped and understaffed when I came. They made it work! Everyone worked together as a team and I loved that a lot! Wouldn't mind coming back for coffee and pastries. During lunch time, it gets a little busy, but what can they do it's a nice little spot for this area of town! Came highly recommended by multiple people. I didn't love my bowl, but i need to come back and will update y'all then!

Olga A.

Yelp
Wanted to give a try as I was in the area. Grabbed coffee next door since needed a boost of energy, and White Elm Brasserie did not have any specialty coffee on the menu. As we walked in, a woman who was standing next to a host and appeared to be a manager, told me I couldn't come in with my coffee. Don't agree, but not a problem - there are many other places that could benefit from me giving them business and potentially turning into a loyal customer.

Candy C.

Yelp
Cute decor and friendly service. Very nice local gem. I was great as soon as I walked in and was lucky to get a table right away. Once seated, the server came and greeted me. She took my drink order and gave me time to wait for my dining companion and look-over the menu. So many nice things on the menu. They even have a Monte Cristo. I decided on the deviled eggs (good, really enjoyed the crispy bacon on top) and breakfast hash and my dining companion ordered the Chilaquiles. I have a bad relationship with cheese and all things milky or creamy. So I normally look for selections that don't contain cheese or milk or have a cream sauce. I decided on the breakfast hash because the only warning was "E" for eggs. There was no listing of cheese or a "D" for dairy. Cheese wasn't even in the description of the Breakfast Hash (good, could have used a little more salsa verde on the side) 2 fried eggs, pork belly, onions, peppers, breakfast potatoes, salsa verde. Imagine my surprise when It come to the table with Cheese. Now I am used to picking and scraping off cheese but it doesn't mean I enjoy it. Management... Please review ingredients and update menu. Despite "Cheese Gate"... I would come back but I would also make sure I know what I am ordering and ask lots of questions. Sigh...

Florentin D.

Yelp
So didn't even tried a meal here because the service was bad from the jump when we walked in. Bad energy before even ordering the food, wasn't going to ruin my day; so we decided to go somewhere else people are more appreciative about their customers. However the restaurant itself looks good inside, but not worth the bad service. Y'all enjoy!!

Ananya S.

Yelp
Wow great place for breakfast or lunch - kinda hidden so there's always space. I had the yummy roasted salmon tartine and there is a full bar!!!

Regina N.

Yelp
As a true connoisseur of casual dining, I must say that my recent experience at the White Elm was nothing short of exceptional. My BFF and I stopped by for a girlfriend brunch one Saturday and feasted on delicious meal. Located in not so busy strip mall this gem of a restaurant has a cool French vibe with two types of dining options. You can choose to eat in open dining room or in the adjacent dining area near the lounge area. We chose to eat in the room adjacent to the dining room. Seated in a corner table we were ready to taste away. Among the various culinary delights on the menu, the hamburger stood out as a true masterpiece. The patty was expertly cooked, achieving an optimal level of juiciness and tenderness that is often elusive in the realm of hamburgers. The toppings were also carefully chosen, complementing the flavors of the patty rather than overwhelming it. And the bun - a crucial element often overlooked by lesser establishments - was soft, pillowy, and perfectly fresh. In short, this hamburger was a triumph of gastronomy, and I highly recommend it to any discerning foodie. In addition to the perfectly juicy hamburger, we also had the pleasure of trying the deviled eggs for an appetizer and the bread pudding for dessert. The deviled eggs were expertly prepared, with a creamy and flavorful filling that was a perfect balance of eggy and savory. The bread pudding was equally impressive, with a rich and buttery flavor that was enhanced by a generous drizzle of a sauce that may or may not been caramel. Whatever it was, it was delish. Both dishes were true highlights of the meal, and I highly recommend trying them.. All in all, this restaurant is a true gem, and I can't wait to go back and sample more of their deliciousness.

Yelp
We came in for brunch today excited to try after seeing so many great reviews but it started off really negatively when my husband went to the bar to order an iced coffee that I could sip on while seated in waiting area. Server Charmele treated him very rudely and like an inconvenience despite how polite he was. He still tipped. He ended up coming back to bar because the iced coffee was unsweetened (she didn't even ask if we wanted sweetener added originally) and he was surprisingly charged just for the vanilla syrup and was once again treated rudely by her with total lack of hospitality. Then after 45 minutes of waiting (which I can understand, we didn't have reservations) we were seated in the corner of a small room occupied by a large group that had already been drinking for a while, and with the way their boisterous laughing and convo echoed against the walls of the room it was unbearably loud so we requested to be re-seated which thankfully after waiting a few minutes was able to be done. The deviled eggs was what I was most looking forward to trying were a disappointment, flavor was just lacking and they looked to have been thrown haphazardly onto the plate. Not worth $11. Cup of hot coffee was brought to the table without a side of cream and had to wait a while to be able request that. Good thing that the Chilaquiles and the BLT sandwich came out pretty yummy, so 2 stars for that. Appreciate that the side of fruit was a good variety of pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, and oranges.

Ann L.

Yelp
A great spot to grab brunch/lunch. Located in a small plaza, parking was easy to find. They have indoor and outdoor tables. We ordered the charred octopus and strawberry shortcake for appetizers. The octopus was cooked perfectly and served with small baguettes slices. The strawberry shortcake with fresh strawberries was better for a dessert option. For the main course, we ordered the breakfast pizza and banh mi/baguette with duck. The banh mi also came with brussel sprouts. Everything were delish and we didn't have to wait too long. Services were also very friendly.

Jared B.

Yelp
Originally gave this place 5 stars, but my last visit upset me tremendously. The service was terrible. I ordered the classic omelet and it had zero flavor. Potatoes were delicious as always, though. The thing that upset me the most was the service, and the bottle of champagne I ordered for me and my wife for mimosas. She barely came to the table, in fact we got better service from the waitress next to our table. The carafe she brought it in has a 750 ml mark, and it was VERY below. Maybe 3/4 full. I mentioned that the carafe wasn't full, and she said that's a full bottle. The ticket says it serves 6, we got four glasses out of it. When I paid, I mentioned it to her, her response, " I don't know what to tell you you" and then walked off. The service was the main issue. We saw her, eventually to take our drink order and then to give us the check. We even had to ask the other waitress for silverware. The other waitress with braces was so nice! Never going again.

Emily H.

Yelp
Went with our two little ones for an early dinner. The staff were so kind and the service was great. The margaritas were top tier and for the happy hour price of $8 can't be beat. Everything we tried from happy hour apps to entrees was well thought out and delicious. We will be coming back frequently! Great for family night or date night.

Kim R.

Yelp
I've been here a few times. Every single time, the food has been wonderful. It's a cute little restaurant. The service is top-notch. I've ordered a couple of different things, and the food is always fresh and prepared with care. The last couple of times, the server even remembered my drink order and asked if I wanted that again. That's the kind of service that makes you feel special and makes you want to return. I can't wait to try other things on the menu. There aren't many things on there that don't look delicious. Just a side note: get the meatloaf. If you like meatloaf, this is next level.

Tiffany S.

Yelp
The waitress immediately sat me down when I walked in. I told her I was working, and she sat me down by a outlet. It showed that she listens to her guest. I think looked at the menu, and order the seafood chowder it was delightful. Snapper was definitely but definitely flavorful. It came out hot! I then ordered the salmon provencale which was super pretty on the plate. They were on a boil water notice so they presented me with Dasani bottled water. It was amazing ambiance. The place had many window for natural sunlight and amazing chandleries and decors! Over nice clean place with two great choices. Will recommend if in the memorial area for lunch.

Gabriela P.

Yelp
Stopped by after an Estate Sale. Must say everything was delish. Ordered French Toast and Oatmeal. The oatmeal was served cold which was a first but I cant complaint it was delish.

Paula Y.

Yelp
First time here, found this place by watching YouTube's of best places for coffee in Houston. I came across a video called Texas living companies and she suggested White Elm for coffee. When I came, I was surprised they had food too! So I ordered the vanilla oat latte and a breakfast quiche with a side of potatoes. That quiche was delicious, you gotta check it out! I'll definitely be back!

Meredith W.

Yelp
I was treated horribly here tonight by the owner so much that I left in tears. There's a kids section on the menu but trust me, kids are not welcome here.

Jason S.

Yelp
I really wanted to get a sandwich and grab some coffee. This place popped up a block away and I never really knew it existed. The ambiance was very relaxing. The food was delicious. However, it's a little pricy. The meal you see in the picture + coffee = $24. ‍ I love a good sandwich but $18 is too much for me. I could see this place being fun for a date. A lot of people had wine on their table. And I'm sure the rest of their dishes are just as good.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
What a wonderful little hidden gem! Stopped in for breakfast last week and I can't stop thinking about those scrambled eggs. Don't know what they add or how they cook them, but the best eggs I've ever had. Get the breakfast tacos!

K T.

Yelp
Just delicious quality food and unique menu for neighborhood Brasserie. service is friendly and quick. Wine selection is impressive too. The duck confit sandwich should not be missed but our favorites are the Southwest and Thai salmon salad. Enough for a second meal at home, and all without styrofoam . Walk your pups there and tie them in the shade while you eat alfresco. Oh, the baked goods! Best scones ever and I'm an expert on scones & croissants .

Christy P.

Yelp
I've tried more of their croissants and wow, I have not been disappointed. I think this is the first time a bakery has truly blown me away. Probably my favorite croissant thus far is the hazelnut chocolate one...it is nothing short of incredible. There's so much filling, the croissant feels heavy from the weight of it, yet doesn't fall apart. The flavor of the hazelnut creme with the chocolate shell and candied nuts on top is to die for. I know I'm hyping, but I can't help it, it is THAT good! If you love hazelnut, this is not a pastry to miss!

Kaila S.

Yelp
I came in for brunch with a friend. We ordered mimosas to drink and the deviled egg appetizer. The mimosas were good and the deviled eggs were really good! A great way to start our meal. I ordered the monte cristo for my meal and was very happy with it. I ended up getting full fast so I had quite a bit to belting home. Later on I microwaved it expecting it to be gross since it's reheated fried food and to my surprise it actually reheated really well. The monte cristo also came with breakfast potatoes with a Cajun seasoning and they were delicious. The atmosphere was nice but kinda loud and the service was good. Their dinner menu looked good too so maybe I'll check out their dinner.

Cori R.

Yelp
Nasty slimy omelet. How do you ruin an omelet?? Either the vegetables were rotten or the eggs were bad. Worst breakfast I've ever had.

Vahid M.

Yelp
We had been to White Elm a few times for brunch and dinner, and recently I recommended it as a spot for a good-bye lunch for a colleague. We showed up in a group of eight, and ordered a combination of pretty much all items on the menu. I chose their salmon, but others went for pizza, steak, sandwiches and other options. Everybody was happy with their food, we had a great experience and were treated well by the staff. One of the major advantages of this place for me is the spacious feel of the interior of the restaurant, and the amount of natural light. You can practically sit and eat for hours without feeling confined.

Lee N.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service. Portion size was very reasonable for the price. The Monte Christo was great with the raspberry jam making it tops!

Egg Donor S.

Yelp
Our Houston surrogates had such a great morning. Amazing coffee, service and wonderful conversations.

Hayden S.

Yelp
I am giving this restaurant four stars for the complete package of food, service, and ambiance. If rating the food alone, I probably would have gone with three stars - not because the food was bad, but because to me it just wasn't special. Our waitress was super nice and attentive, providing great service. The spot itself is a cute and cozy little diner. For lunch, I ordered the turkey avocado BLT and fries and, as I said above, it was fine. Nothing to write home about, but overall a decent meal. I was really interested in some of their entrees, but their brunch menu doesn't include the full menu so I wasn't able to try the dishes I had my eye on. Perhaps I'll return again when they have their full menu and see if those meals are more exciting. Price-wise, the total for my husband and I with tip was in the $30 range.

Lawrence K.

Yelp
This is a very clean place for the "Ladies who lunch" crowd. The make a fairly decent cappuccino but unfortunately their scones are a dry, brittle afterthought. They cater to the 45-59 year old crowd and service is a cross between McDonalds and a sandwich shop. If you have an extra forty dollars for an OK place where you can spend it - by all means try this place. The ambience is loud and sterile. With below average service.

Paula M.

Yelp
This place was super cute. I ate here with my friends and daughter. The food was delicious and the service was nice and fast. I will definitely be coming back.

Kevin S.

Yelp
We ate here for brunch on a Sunday and were pleased overall. The service was a bit spotty - sometimes we couldn't see our server for 15 minutes or so. The food was good, though. The devilled eggs were delicious with just the right amount of jalapeno to give them a kick without overpowering them. The NMH Burger was good as was the While Elm Turkey Avocado BLT, but they weren't quite worth the price. The surprise was the house made cheesecake which was not on the menu but offered by our server - it was one of the best baked cheesecakes we've had in Houston. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Julia B.

Yelp
Loved this spot and will definitely be coming back! We ordered a pastry, the avocado toast w eggs, the classic scramble w bacon, and the breakfast croissant with ham and egg (I don't think this is what it was called but can't remember the name of the dish) Great coffee and brunch! Cute and well decorated place. Service was timely and everyone was really kind.

April K.

Yelp
I loved the clean, open classy decor and feel of White Elm. We arrived at 11 am and were seated right away. The waitress gave us an excellent run down of the menu and suggested the items she thought were the best, which I always appreciate. We ordered the Grateful Bird and the Le Grand Garcon. The Brie on the Bird was a nice touch and this came together for a nice light and fresh sandwich. My friend and the Garcon and said it was delicious. I recommend the duck fat fries as well. It did get a little loud when the restaurant was at the high time of lunch around 12:30 but otherwise a great spot for lunch!

Angelina C.

Yelp
cute little brunch cafe! beautiful inside and wonderful ambiance. The portions were sized well and the quality was great!! Mimosas were also delicious. The tartine sampler was my personal favorite. Great combination of savory and sweet!! Only con-- I didn't like the strawberry shortcake dessert too much as I found it rather salty

Chaotic H.

Yelp
This was my first time here and sadly it will be my last. However, let me start off with what I liked about this place. The staff is very friendly and courteous. I was greeted immediately when I entered. When the waitress came to take my order, I can't remember if she gave her name. But she was very attentive and took her time answering my questions about items on the menu. I ordered the White Elm Omelet. As you can see, it looks very appetizing. However, I was disappointed. It did nothing to appease my pallet. It included shrimp, which I really enjoy but this item has no flavor and was quite bland. I suggest including some seasoning in this particular item. Overall: C-

Yelp
Delicious lunch!! Seafood salad full of crab, shrimp & scallops! Melt-in-your-mouth strawberry shortcake!
