I grew up not far from here and I am so saddened it took me so long to visit the restaurant. My first visit was Memorial Weekend and though I live a good 45 minutes away, I've been back 3 times since that weekend - SOOOO worth the drive. The service has always been impeccable and very knowledgeable when it comes to questions about the menu items. Every time I've visited, the whitefish pate appetizer is an absolute must have. Served with toasted baguette and paired with the cherry mustard and pickled onion, if you like whitefish, do yourself a favor and try it. The buffaloaf is delicious, the portions are so generous and had plenty for a delicious lunch the following day. Cowboy Mac & Cheese? Bring your appetite (or a friend to share it with LOL). The honey plum salmon, ribeye & pot roast sandwich, yes, safe to say, their food is delicious. Desserts, wow, do they have the desserts! Can't go wrong with a nice freshly baked chocolate chip cookie, the bread pudding is very tasty and the crème brulee was one of the airiest & flavorful desserts I've had in recent years. My husband, friends and even my grandson have all enjoyed our experiences at this establishment. To the servers, chefs, hostess, all staff and the owners - GREAT JOB! Thank you for an always pleasant visit and we will definitely be back.

I’ve been here a few times now and each time was a 5 star visit. However this specific review is for my igloo experience. Carrie was a phenomenal server. A rockstar! She let us know she was also serving 4 other igloos but was very attentive and had such a great personality. My Horse Breath cocktail was delicious, probably one of my favorite cocktails when going out. And from a previous visit, I knew to save room for dessert and got the bread pudding again. Very good and the bourbon sauce is mouthwatering! I ordered the Turkey Dinner special which was very good, but their pot roast is still my favorite. I also ordered a bowl of French Onion Soup upon a friends recommendation, one of the best French onion soups I’ve had dinning out as it was very flavorful and not heavily salty like other places I’ve been. It was an absolute memorable dinner experience in the Narnia Igloo.

Google
Many friends over the years have recommended I try the white horse inn. I finally went to try it today with my family. It was great. The building & its history are so special. The food was comforting & delicious. I can’t wait to return.

Google
High end food at medium to high price point. Very good service and very clean. I had the 40 day aged steak for 50.00. I was not that impressed with it. Was good but not great. The carrot cake was very good. I really liked eating dinner on the upper floor.

Google
A delightful experience for my husband and I. We both enjoy horses, so the decor and tribute to the equestrian lifestyle in the area is beautifully done. The waitstaff was very personable, and the delicious meals were served promptly.

Google
The experience was amazing. We did a late lunch for a girls day. The food and service were great. The portions were good size and worth the price of the meals. We are a couple of horse girls so the decor and atmosphere was so fun for us.

Google
Quaint, comfortable, chill, rustic, cool atmosphere and decorum. Loved the wood floors, the enormous horse drawings on the back wall, all the candles in the fireplace and cool large bar area and couches to relax in. Excellent service. Food was delicious. We had the spinach dip w chips appetizer which truly tasted like homemade and entrees were a slab of ribs which literally fell off the bone with coleslaw and potatoes, and the forever favorite Hudson’s salad which did not disappoint, even had leftovers to take home. The restrooms were clean, and unique - the sink faucet is both the water and the dryer just fyi (I was looking all over for paper towels until someone told me the dryer was actually part of the faucet). I will be back to try the salmon and filet the waitress recommended.

Google
We had our anniversary dinner here. The inside of the place looks amazing with the stallion mural wall and tree floor. The food was okay (ribeye): gristle and overcooked. The service was great.

Yelp
So many people had told us about this place, it was on my list and I was extremely excited to finally try it. It is an adorable establishment with two levels. I love the rustic décor and the waiting area with the fire place. It is very cozy and seems like a throw back to yesteryear, like someplace you might grab a bite at in Greenfield Village. All of the people working here were extremely kind and helpful. I, of course, needed to try the chips and dip. It was stellar. I loved the large onion pieces in the dip, and those were perhaps the best chips from a restaurant I have ever had, and that's a bold statement. I had the Charleston fizz, which was very nice, and their red ale made by Frankenmuth Brewery, was amazing. I tried their pot roast grilled cheese and it hit the spot. The ranch was good and the onion rings were great, very crispy. The Ruben was also tasty. For dessert we ordered some coffee, which I might skip next time, but the desserts were awesome. The oatmeal pie was the true star here, and their maple pecan ice cream was the creamiest I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. We also tried the carrot cake which was tasty and a large portion. I would love to go back and try the burrata salad and some other dishes.

Yelp
This review includes my three visits over the past 15 months. (2023-2024) First off, this is a historic building that dates back to the pre-civil war times. You can read about the storied history so I won't go into the details here. The ambience/ decor certainly adds to the experience of dining here. This is one of the best restaurants to visit around the Christmas holiday season in Michigan. The menu includes a selection of hearty comfort food entrees such as: Mac and cheese, fish and chips, walleye, Salmon, Artichoke-lemon chicken, meatloaf made with buffalo meat, pot roast and various burgers, sandwiches, salads and soups. The service we experienced was attentive. Our waitress Kate, did a nice job with our group of 12. If you like to dine at an establishment that is unique as well as offer good food, I think you'll enjoy coming here.

Yelp
I've heard great things about White Horse Inn and have been wanting to come for quite a while. Walking in, the inn is absolutely gorgeous. From the huge fireplace, to the beautiful floors, to the huge mural on the wall...I absolutely loved the vibe of this place. We sat in the back room, and the paintings, tables and chairs were beautiful and the blue upholstery was gorgeous. Our server Conner was really nice and provided great service. We started with the chips and dip, venison chili and I ordered the pot roast grilled cheese with chips. My friend ordered the burnt ends Mac and cheese. Everything was so delicious, and Conner made sure we were well taken care of! We needed the meal with the seasonal strawberry cobbler and it was really good too. I definitely will be back, I heard Christmas time is really beautiful but reservations are hard to get! Definitely recommend this for a date night, birthday or special occasion. There is a room upstairs you can rent for special occasions also! Our friend told us she hosted a baby shower upstairs. The history of the Inn is really neat also. Metamora is a cute little town and stop by the antique place next door as well at the country market!

Yelp
Everything here is on par. So many good things to choose from from. Go check out place for special occasions. Buffalo Meatloaf is one of my favorites. Huge servings . Tasty with mashed potatoes and gravy, so delicious. Husband loved the Fish pate appetizer. Salads are excellent. Fish is good. All dishes are plentiful. Bread pudding is best I have ever had anywhere.

Yelp
Not sure what all the hype is about. Cute place, eh food, awful service. I ordered a salad as an appetizer for the 4 of us to split, it was off the specials menu and had pears & goat cheese. Not bad, but not memorable. I asked for 4 small plates so we all could split the salad, and 2 of the plates had dried food on them. We sent them back and asked for 2 new ones, and 1 of those plates was dirty as well! My mom got a cup of the tortilla soup, and it was like gravy. My mom won't complain, but she also had the "this isn't very good" face when eating it. She was so hungry, she didn't want to wait for something else. They bring out 4 entrees next, without bussing our table of the dirty salad dishes and soup. We had absolutely no room on our table. I had to pile dishes up and take them to the bar so we had room to eat comfortably. Two of us at the table got the pot roast grilled cheese, and they came out soggy as all heck. Not sure if this is how they're meant to be, or our sandwiches sat there while they waited for the rest of the table's food. Took one bite of mine, then decided to remove what soggy bread I could and eat it with a knife & fork. I also got a cup of the tomato bisque, which was too chunky and too acid-y. The soup needed more seasoning above and beyond the salt & pepper available on the table. My mom got some chicken caesar wrap and was again underwhelmed. My sister, however ordered off the specials menu, Shepards pie, and hers was the only dish that came out hot, and it was delicious. My mom and her friend are sweet-a-holics, so we ordered the bread pudding and oatmeal pie to split between us. We told them we would like 4 spoons and 4 plates as well. The desserts came out with no utensils, no extra plates, and guess what, our dirty entree plates were still on the table. Oatmeal pie, eh, a little dry, maple icecream, outstanding, bread pudding - to die for! It came time to pay for the bill, and it took so long for the server to collect our payment, that my sister went across the street to shop for maple syrup and come back, and our cards still weren't taken. If it wasn't for the shepards pie, maple ice cream and bread pudding, this place would only get 1-star from me.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great service, and even better food! Their specials include drinks, appetizers, food, and even a mocktail! Highly recommend.

Yelp
I love the service, the cocktails and the amazing decor and atmosphere. The food is basically VERY mediocre and seems to be getting more mediocre. I had the Mac and Cheese that used to be really good...pretty much has the consistency of wall paper paste. Seriously needs a makeover. At least bake it with some cheese on the top. The Brussels sprouts were very good...

Yelp
First time eating in an "igloo"! I ordered the French onion soup, the filet mignon (cooked perfectly medium), and had the ice cream & fudge brownie for dessert. Everything was excellent! The service was very good and friendly. The ambience inside the restaurant felt really cozy! Highly recommend!

Yelp
My friend wanted to come here for their themed igloo dining so we had a group of 10 & chose their Narnia igloo. We arrived about 20 or so minutes early so my husband grabbed a beer from the bar & we sat near the fireplace. This was our first time coming here & it is such a fun, cozy feel inside. Our reservation was at 7:30pm & we were sat right about then. When dining in the igloo, they do immediately let you know that you have a 2 hr time limit which they stick to that was nice for ensuring we were sat on time since larger groups tend to hangout well after they're done eating. Our waitress was friendly & helpful. A few of us ordered different soups to start. My husband & I were the only ones to order tomato & they did forget one of ours along with another persons fruit cup. They were quick to bring it out after I mentioned one was missing. The food came out pretty quickly for our size of group, but after everyone else got their food I still hadn't gotten my Mac & cheese so I had to mention my meal was missing & it was brought out probably about 5 or so minutes later. All of the food tasted really good & no one in the group had any complaints. Most people ordered drinks as well & were happy with them too. Crème brûlée is one of my absolute favorite desserts, so my husband & I split it for dessert. It was delicious & I would definitely order it again! Overall, it was a good experience with good food & I would definitely come back!

Yelp
We read a lot of positive testimonies for The White Horse Inn through a community Facebook group so we decided to give it a try. Overall, our experience was good, the staff was helpful and our service was what you expect, but the food was just okay. My boyfriend ordered a margarita and that was good. For an appetizer, we ordered the white fish pate that came with pickled onion and a mustard cherry, which was phenomenal. We had very high hopes after this appetizer. For main dishes, my boyfriend ordered the potato chip crusted walleye and I ordered the lemon artichoke chicken. My chicken was very good, good well, juicy with a perfect breading and sauce. My vegetables were cold, but my sweet potato fries were also very good. The walleye came out with a layer of baked cheese over top. For lack of a better term, I think this is very cheesy for being a higher class restaurant, I really didn't expect it to come out like this. It had no flavor at all, it wasn't bad, but it didn't taste like anything. Like it wasn't seasoned or even salted. It just wasn't good. For dessert, we ordered their old fashioned oatmeal pie with maple ice cream. This was excellent. Excellent. Highly recommend that if you see this on the menu, you order it.

Yelp
Food and service was top notch! We will def be back! And what a sight to see. Beautiful ambiance !

Yelp
This was my first time there and I can't wait to go back! I got the honey crisp apple sour to drink & the wedge salad / French onion soup for appetizer's ...Both were very large portions and for the main course I split the tomahawk steak with another person, which did not disappoint!
google avatar

JoLyn F.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere! There were four of us dining. We all ordered something different and we all said the same thing, most of the food lacks flavor. The Walleye was bland, the steak had no seasoning, and the Rueben sandwich lacked spice. The only thing that was fantastic was the plum salmon. My husband ordered a drink called horse breath, and I ordered a Cabernet and both drinks were about an inch pour. Way too pricey for what we got. Our waiter Jacob was great! He was very attentive and made appetizer suggestions that were great. He also recommended the salmon which ended up being the only dish that was enjoyed. We ordered the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. A bit too much baking soda which made them salty. Overall very disappointing :/

Yelp
The lemon chicken here was absolutely just delicious. I love the atmosphere. I really enjoy going to the White horse. The food is fresh. I'm really good.

Yelp
What a cool and historic place! The service and food were both great, although the menu is mostly "heavy" dishes. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5.... the chairs are SO uncomfortable!! We were sat upstairs and I could not even sit fully back in my chair and had to cross my legs and sit on the front half of the seat to avoid pain. I'm not plus-sized and have never had this problem before. I would go back but would be sure to NOT sit in that same section with those awful chairs.

Yelp
Returned again this year and food was amazing, if not even better. The Mac and cheese was phenomenal and I adored the Nashville chicken sandwich. The lemon chicken was also a hit. Our food took over 2 hours and restaurant was very busy but overall a great experience. We came during Christmas time and atmosphere was beautiful.

Yelp
Very nice place. Very clean and the staff are very attentive. We loved our meal here and will definitely be back. I had the Ribs and they were fantastic! The cocktails are very good as well.

Yelp
A place we had been wanting to try, so went with friends for a birthday. Here's what we liked: * very cool building, loved the rustic appeal inside. Nice exterior patio and upstairs. * Service for dinner was great, good recommendations, attentive and just a fun person. *The warm chocolate chip cookies were so good. -* Liked all the side options with the entrees. * the Plum Salmon was good- * the Cowboys mac n cheese was good, liked the pork and bacon with it. Here's what we thought could be better: * Arrived 30 minutes before our dinner time so wife and I asked if we could go to the bar- and was told absolutely. Us and only two other people at bar and took almost 20 minutes to get a drink. Service wasn't rude but wasn't great. * The spicy shrimp appetizer while it had good sized shrimp, the sauce was missing something. Almost to much Mayo or something. Wasn't bad, just could be better. * The side dishes were just ok, green beans were quite bland and the crispy Brussel sprouts, dare I say were to crispy as in almost burnt, * the carrot cake was just ok, a bit dry and heavy on the orange flavor. * the Horse Breath drink - good idea, again just lacking something. And presentation was eh. Overall- it was a nice night with friends and the final review was just ok. Not sure it is a place I would go out of my to go again.

Yelp
Visited for the first time with friends. Definitely recommend making a reservation which we did not know. They accommodated us with an available table but we only had it for a short visit, essentially eat & go. It all worked out and we transferred across the street for coffee after. We will return again.

Yelp
I came here on New Years Day for my moms 50th birthday. I called to make a reservation two days prior and was thrilled there was an opening for near 20 people on a busy Sunday night. Our server was super friendly and managed well with the amount of people in our party. The food was good and atmosphere was very cool. The two igloos in the back seem fun for a small gathering but the inside is rustic and romantic. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is because the restaurant charges $2.50 per person eating a dessert that is brought in instead of purchased in restaurant.
google avatar

Gabrielle A.

Yelp
After being told this was a very good place to eat, I went with my family. For Lapeer this is a decent spot, however they were definitely understaffed. The staff we did engage with was kind and attentive, but we had multiple servers so it was chaotic. The food wasn't anything to write home about. My filet was fine, the pot roast was half fat, but still good - just couldn't eat the whole meal. The chicken was meh. The carrot cake was different, it was served cold which definitely affects the taste. Nice ambiance for the holidays but a little noisy.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, drinks were affordable. reserved a winter bubble that was great! Definitely recommend

Yelp
Small Town Big Restaurant We went to try out the restaurant and overall the outside was very pretty in the winter season with lights and igloos. The inside was very log cabin style nicely decorated with wooden floors made of trees and other log cabin decor. We were seated immediately with no wait which was shocking by the amount of cars in the parking lot but no wait around 430pm The waitress/staff I wish was better attentive, never asked us for more drinks never took empty plates. The food came out quick with no problem in that sense. The waitress was nice don't get me wrong but overall not on the game in the sense of checking up. - 1/2 Star The food was good but as I have said in my other reviews prices don't justify it this one was right with it. I ordered the bowl of French Onion Soup, it was a nice and plenty of cheese and onions the taste was good not great but overall I'd definitely eat it again. My main dish was the Cowboy Mac and Cheese which had pulled pork added. The size was plenty and at first looking at the dish it looked like no meat till you stir it around and there was a fair share. The Mac and Cheese was below average nothing fancy no overall flavor and some noodles were cold. The pulled pork was mushy which in my book not personally good, the BBQ sauce was good. - 1 Star I'd probably not go back unless I was invited I wasn't overly impressed compared to other reviewers. Maybe it was an off night but for the price they are charging I'd assume the quality of their products would be higher

Yelp
White Horse Inn is lovely. Got there at 6. They sat us almost immediately for our reservation for 5. Waitress got our drinks but then disappeared for quite awhile. By then we all needed another drink but we're getting hungry so we ordered the whitefish pate which was excellent. It came with a couple of little sides of things which I did not try. I had French onion soup which was good. I ordered the ribeye. It came medium like I wanted but it just wasn't very tasty and it was a bit tough. Real average. Then we didn't see our waitress for a long time. Probably because they are are short staffed which is a shame. I will go back and try something else next time.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to the white horse twice, once in the summer and again last night NYE. We went last night because I had a gift card to use. Now I remember why I don't go out on NYE. The place was packed and loud and it was very hard to hear anyone at my table. They put in extra tables and packed as many people in the restaurant as possible. The service was a little slow which I expected, but that didn't bother me. Our waitress was working hard. We were seated near the entrance which also didn't bother me until it started filling up with people. I don't know if people were coming in without reservations or their tables were not ready yet but our table was surrounded by people. It seemed to happen right when our food came out. So I was surrounded by people while eating. At one point I looked around and on my right and left I had butts in my face. People were backed up to me on all sides. I thought about telling the hostess but I couldn't have gotten out of my chair. It was so uncomfortable. Trying to enjoy an expensive meal with my family in a crowd of people feeling like everyone is watching us and with peoples butts in my face. When the waitress asked if we wanted dessert I thought why? So everyone can watch us eat that too? It's a shame people don't think about where they are standing but I also think it's the responsibility of the host/hostess to handle the crowd. I feel like the restaurant wanted to make as much money as possible they forgot about the comfort of their guests. The food was just okay. Expensive for the quantity and quality.

Yelp
If there was a restaurant within an hour of my home I would choose for dinner it would be this one!!! Every small town should have a destination restaurant like this. The interior has an old American feel with amazing facilities. Plenty of space. The menu is fantastic American fare. I've had the Buffaloaf every time I come and have loved it. But this last time I had the prime rib and it was maybe the best I have ever had. The au jus was perfect. They also have my favorite wedge salad (for which I am always a sucker). They have full cocktail menu as well including a bar area I describe so that I can persuade But this has got to be my favorite place north of the Wayne Oakland Macomb area. Just damn cozy!

Nicole K.

Yelp
First visit on New Year's Eve was an ambitious move. Although we had a reservation it was still a long wait for our table. I felt bad that several people were standing in the lobby crowding the space. We were seated at a two top table. Our server was Connor and he did a great job. Drinks: Not a good Old Fashioned. I'd stick to the cocktail menu or wine list. Food: Prime rib was great. Very flavorful. The ribs were pretty good. They did fall off the bone. Fries and coleslaw were good. The wedge salad was big enough to split and really tasty with the candied bacon. The oatmeal pie with maple ice cream is unique. The texture is kinda dry and chewy but it works. I did not like the carrot cake. It was dense and tasted more like pineapple than carrot. Overall a good experience and felt the flow went very smooth once we were seated. Like many other reviewers, I agree the service was 4 stars, food is 3.5 stars.

Stacia G.

Yelp
I've been here twice. Once in the winter when they were doing carriage rides downtown and an unbelievable wait, next for summer on their beautiful patio. Cannot say enough good things about the food, drinks, and staff. Town is cute also and worth a walk around.

Yelp
I wanted to see how my second visit went before writing this to give it some time and to not rush to judgement. So... VISIT ONE: We (2 of us) had dinner. Atmosphere was great, the decorations during Christmas are beautiful. The handcrafted floors are stunning. Overall, was a 10. We both were very pleased. HOWEVER, After dinner, I paid the tab, went to bar, and grabbed a drink to go sit by the beautiful fire place. After sitting there for roughly ten minutes and enjoying our glasses of wine, our waitress came up to me and asked if our meal was ok. I said "yes, thank you for asking." She then said rudely "I just couldn't tell by the tip, I thought something might have been wrong." I was extremely taken back because the nerve of her she to come and ask. For the record, I tipped 20% on the pre-tax amount. Her tone of voice was very off putting. So I said, "My apologies and handed her $20.00 more dollars and said I hope this helps" and she grabbed it and walked away immediately. I will never forget how rude she was. Hence the delay in returning. SECOND VISIT: Tonight, mothers day. Again, two of us. We sat on the patio, weather was great. We actually ended up getting the same server. Not sure if she recognized me but I recognized her immediately. I was like oh great! Hope this goes well. So we order and she pleasant. Food comes I ordered the $45.00 filet which is what I usually get when going out to nicer places. The steak was just ok this time but the two sides were very cold. Cold enough it wasn't melting the butter pad even pushed in the potatoes. I asked the waitress if they could heat them up. She comes back 3-4 minutes later and said they made me two fresh sides. Ok great! They they were cold also, so not so great. So ended up not eating them at all. Cold green beans and mashed potatoes are not good cold for me. I then ask for the manager to come over and this is where I am not pleased. Her attitude to towards the table was less than pleasant. She acted like she wasn't happy to be there and I was an inconvenience to her for even speaking to us. She didn't ask, she told me she took $10.00 off my meal. Then offered my better half a free desert and never even asked me. Weird, I'm the one paying and I had the bad meal and yet you ask her for a dessert? I guess something must be wrong with me. I'm sorry but when you drop $150.00 or more for two people to eat at a "nice" restaurant I guess I expect the staff to not be rude or condescending. I haven't decided if I willing to go back or not.

Heidi C.

Yelp
Our waitress was Michelle, she was very nice very professional. The food was amazing me and my two friends were our first time and we had the warm summer salad and the turkey croissant fabulous also love the decor so nice.!

Yelp
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Our group of six selected a variety of delicious appetizers, entrees, and drinks. We'll definitely be back.

Brayden H.

Yelp
Our first time here ! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and has very beautifully decorated igloos to enjoy your meal in. Angelee was a great server, she had the best vibes and fit our party very well. She was fun, humorous, and attentive with our order. Very pleased with our visit and hope to have Angelee as our server again.

Melissa B.

Yelp
Terrible customer service! Terrible!!!! The manager and the owner told me our server would be fired for our experience! We had to wait way too long for our table, this place seems very understaffed, and it doesn't seem like they care... about anyone! I will not be visiting again, if this is how they treat customers/employees! For shame, white horse! For shame!

Yelp
The maître d' was extremely handsy with my wife. I got herpes from the Cowboy Mac. The iced tea was really good though.

Yelp
Iconic place jn a quaint town. The ambience is very nice, historical and the food is great

Yelp
First time here tonight. We had a delicious dinner. Started out with the 1/2 Orchard salad which was delicious. My husband had the Buffaloaf and I had the 8oz filet. Everything was delicious and great portions. We finished off with the Vanilla bean pastry tart with a mixed berry compote; yummy. Our server Craig was excellent. We will be back.

Yelp
Established 1850 ! Really great historic ambiance. Had the Turkey Reuben, White Fish Pate and Brussel Sprouts. All excellent. Great, attentive service.

Yelp
I had a hard time giving a review on 03/15/25, the food is outstanding but the service less than ok. We sat upstairs and the waitress was not attentive and in fact was missing for so long that I had to get up to find someone for a drink refill. We literally had to ask for everything such as salt and pepper, refills, etc. . In addition the bake potato seemed to have been around for a while, it was dry and the potato had pulled away from the skin. The ambiance is relaxed and inviting. I would say this time around I was disappointed.

Yelp
Ambiance is fantastic. A bit loud but better upstairs in the back room. Food was good. Somethings better than others. Server was trying super hard. Kitchen clearly overwhelmed. Two hours for dinner to appear? Granted large party and they did try to make it good by offering dessert...but it had been a long work day and nothing would make up for the lost sleep....

Yelp
From the food to the service, I have never had a bad experience here! We have come here often for dinner, and the food has great flavor, generous portions, and always a 10. The ambiance is also a plus; it has a rustic home-like feeling, great for groups or a romantic dinner. 10/10

Yelp
Food was really good but fly infested. Hard to eat and swat flies at the same time. Nice atmosphere.

Yelp
Ambiance was great and very unique. Food was terrible. Meat was so flavorless and bad quality. Undercooked vegetables. I was really looking forward to this place too.

Yelp
Great place! Shelby was our server and she was fantastic! The soft pretzels sticks are delicious, the Maurice salad is great and the ambiance is lovely!

Yelp
We have enjoyed The White Horse Inn for many decades and have enjoyed the growth and ambience they have given to our community in the recent years. The 5 stars are not enough, everything is outstanding inside and out, especially the staff and food!

Yelp
To be honest, I haven't felt the magic of Christmas this year & I haven't even put up a tree, which will be a first for me. I made reservations for the White Horse Inn weeks ago in celebration of Christmas Eve. I've been wanting to come here for quite some time, as it came highly recommend. Metamora is about 50 minutes from my house and I was excited to take a little drive and enjoy the beautiful scenery...I just wish there was a covering of snow for the holiday. It just sets the mood for the season. Pulling into the White Horse Inn, I felt like I was in a Hallmark Christmas Movie. I had stumbled upon Christmas! Perfectly situated in the adorable town of Metamora, the White Horse Inn sits proudly on the corner. The twinkling lights are mesmerizing and heated igloos surround the property. They can be rented for a fee. A roaring fire greets guests walking up the path to the restaurant. Words don't describe what lies behind those red doors. Honestly, this place is stunningly beautiful. Every room is decorated with Holiday cheer. The Inn has recently been renovated and it is simply amazing. I love the horse theme throughout the Inn. We had the BEST server named, Brittany. I don't think I've ever encountered a server who has such a great personality! She was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. She took her time with us. I enjoyed seeing all the families gathering and spending time with each other. It was truly a magical night. We ended up ordering the black & blue Filet & the Cowboy Mac'n cheese with pulled pork and candied bacon. OMG!!!! The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. We ordered freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I almost forgot to mention our cocktails. Trust me, you must order the Mint Julep. I think it was the best I've ever had and that says a lot coming from this Kentucky girl. I want to thank the White Horse Inn for an incredible evening and bringing the magic of Christmas alive. I can't wait to come back. This might be my new Christmas Eve tradition.

Yelp
Tonight we took a long trek and braved the endless construction to check out the White Horse Inn. I don't know much about the history of this place but the building and surrounding ones are quite old. The ambiance is charming and the decor is a perfect mix of old and new. Connor was our server and he was very sweet and attentive. The place was great, service was great and the only reason for the 3 stars was the food. What a disappointment, the food was just ok boarding on not that good. Maybe it was an off night? It was the evening before Father's Day and the inside was full with reservations along with a small wedding party upstairs. We sat outside on the patio and the chairs were comfortable, no bugs and the weather was perfect. On to the food...I ordered the potato chip crusted walleye and my partner ordered the prime rib. There were 6 more in our party but I'm gonna concentrate on our dishes. The walleye had a nice mild flavor unless you got a piece of the skin, then it was very fishy. It was baked on aluminum foil topped with potato chips and cheddar cheese. It stuck to the foil and was mildly difficult to eat. I now wonder if that's on purpose so the skin sticks and you don't get that part? It comes with a vegetable and potato. I picked fries as my potato. Fries were good, oddly shaped but nice and crispy and the veg was broccoli and green beans. The veg was severely under cooked and was almost raw except the temp. Very much so a mediocre meal. My partner ordered prime rib with baked potato and same veg. His prime rib was over cooked. He said medium rare and they seared it on a flattop and it cooked through. Not how you should eat prime rib. He ate it anyway. I tasted and it was bland. He liked the veg and potato. Nothing special and quite pricy for this meal. We ordered to share the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. They were good, warm, very buttery and very undercooked. All in all we won't be driving up to Metamora to dine at the White Horse inn again.

Yelp
AMAZING PLACE!! Never been to metamora before (or heard of it) but i was with my grandpa and he wanted to eat out here, i said sure because he always had great picks for restaurants. it was some of the best food i've ever eaten, and our server hannah, did a wonderful job especially with how busy it was. we had the artichoke dip and shrimp as appetizers and i ordered the mac & cheese and lemon artichoke chicken as my meal. the baked potato i got with it was fluffy, buttery and warm and the veggies were steamed to perfection, along with the evenly breaded, crispy chicken and how the flavors blended together was amazing. for dessert i got the blueberry pie with ice cream. it was a special tonight so they might not have it when you see this, but it was delicious. they homemake their ice cream and it's a very creamy vanilla bean. amazing place, definitely recommend for a nice dinner (reminded me of mojo dojo casa house from Barbie a bit).

Yelp
The White Horse Inn is one of my favorite local restaurants. The interior is simply stunning, and as an avid horse lover, I appreciate all the details put into it. The fireplace and the main floor are the main attractions, but take time to look at everything. The food is always consistent, and I love to start with their pickles. I am not a pickle lover at all - but theirs are amazing. Every dish I've had has always been fresh, flavorful, and delicious. You get a lot of bang for your buck with their steak dishes (about $40 for a ribeye dinner in a world where it's at least $50-60 at other places). If you can, dine here during the holidays as they decorate the place beautifully and have outdoor dining igloos, which makes for a fun dining experience!
