White Lion Brewing Company

This restaurant/bar/brewery is a unique find in the middle of the city. The food is good and the beer is great! What's more, they brew everything on the menu right on site. Just note that here you order at the bar and seat yourself with no table service, and you'll enjoy the place like we did.

Love this place! Rick was our bartender and he was friendly and helpful. I had a flight and loved each beer, but slightly disappointed there wasn’t a stout or porter to sample. The hot chicken sandwich was REALLY good, and the chicken nachos were scrumptious. I really enjoyed the open windows at the end of the brewery as well. When I’m in Springfield again, I’ll definitely come back!

Their space is large and inviting, they host plenty of events and have windows that completely open to the street. This is a must stop when visiting Springfield!

We stumbled upon this cool brewery while walking around in downtown Springfield. Happy we did. The staff is kind and knowledgeable and familiar with the beers and menu items. They are also patient and will help you make a selection if you are undecided. The atmosphere has a cool vibe and is kind of industrial/contemporary. The beer selection is plentiful and difficult to choose just one. I’d highly recommend a flight or two of the beers for a lovely tasting experience. There is a nice food menu as well. We enjoyed our experience and will definitely stop in next time while is Springfield, Massachusetts.

Excellent brewery. Jessica was our server, she was fantastic and very patient. Beers are superb, I highly recommend the Insane Mane Red Ale.

Went first time before a Thunderbirds game. I always wanted to go. Beer great and staff also. Bacon lollypops were degusting. All pork fat except for one. Not sure if will return.

Great brewery founded in 2015 with varied beers in different styles. Contemporary environment that does flights and has superior pub food at good prices. Has a small stage with occasional music. Staff is attentive and friendly. What more could you ask for ?

I generally don't have a problem waiting a long time for food when I can see that a place is busy. I'm also local, and White Lion's beers are undeniably good. But *never,* in my entire life, have I wanted to skip on a tip the way I do this particular Tuesday evening. I was waiting for nearly twenty minutes to order food and was ignored, while three different men who came to order *after* I arrived at the bar were served right away. Neither Rick nor Steve (tenders on staff tonight) paid me any mind until a male tablemate came by to order on my behalf, at which point they took my order immediately. If White Lion's company mission is built on inclusion, not having misogynists waiting bar might be a good start. Will not be recommending the Springfield location until they demonstrate they can do better.

we were in town for a volleyball tournament. They were accommodating with our large group and time change. Food was great.. portions were good and staff was so friendly. Highly recommend!

The process is broken here. Order at the bar- food delivered to you. BUT you cannot get the bartender to look at you. I stood patiently for way to long. and it wasn't that busy. I couldn't even imagine if it was slammed... The facility has on street parking downtown- tough feat even for a Sunday night in the summer. The facility is spacious even has a little stage built. The stage this day had empty boxes placed for kids to stack and play- AMAZING idea1 Our 2 year old spent the whole time playing with the boxes (thank you WL!) It can be loud but fun. I had the highbrow sticky ribs. Falling off the bone, finger licking DELICIOUSNESS! I love teriyaki/Asian flavors. This was extremely flavorful and downright memorable to be honest. We also had buffalo wings and truffle fries. These were just not memorable. They were ok. The kids loved the fried oreos. True score: 3.5 because the ribs were so good

Came during lunchtime, which apparently was great because I felt like we had the place to ourselves knowing that Friday night and all the way till Sunday this place is packed. Enjoy the beer was very good. Had an IPA. It was called the Marcus Camby delicious also had a sandwich and chicken wings. I know that normally I have a picture associated with the food but I've noticed a trend when I'm drinking beer I eat the food and then I forget to take my picture so we're gonna be working on that. This has nothing to do with the review. However, the food was delicious. Take my work for it.

Walking around in between volleyball games we found this place. Went into what we thought was a little mall. Nothing open at the time and not much really going on. We saw this brewery and decided we would come back when it opened. I had a flight of beers, I love sours and they had 5 to choose from, so perfect way to try 4 of them. I had the fight the sour, carnival candy kettle sour, pomegranate and raspberry Bellini sour and the blueberry marshmallow sour. I originally thought my favorite on first sip was the blueberry marshmallow. You can really taste the blueberry and the marshmallow gives it kind of a balanced touch of cream taste. But once it sat for awhile it didn't taste as fruity. The fight the sour and the Bellini sours ended up being my favorite. We ordered a couple of appetizers, the roasted Brussel sprouts and buffalo tenders. The brussel sprouts were cooked to perfection. Cooked through so the center wasn't hard but yet roasted to crispy perfection on the outside. They were tossed with a hot honey, which I think was spicier than the buffalo wings. The sprout were served with a lemon vinaigrette that honestly just tasted like and I very blended olive oil mixed with clarified butter. No real lemon flavor and really not needed. Don't really get how it complimented the Brussel sprouts. They minus the dipping sauce were the best I have ever had and would order over and over again. The chicken tenders were amazing. Fresh chicken breast that you could tell they cut themselves and are breaded to order. The breading was so nice and crispy, the chicken was so juicy. Amazing!!! There is no table service so you will have to go to the bar and order everything. They use a QR code for you to scan for the menu. But once you order the food is brought to you when ready. Service was fast and friendly. I am looking forward to the next time I need to go to Springfield because this place will definitely be on my agenda for the day.

I'm afraid that this place is if you are going out for beer okay but food FORGET ABOUT IT KID! First I got the catfish nuggets but they were so greasy, broke apart with fork and their Cajun remoulade sauce NOT EVEN THAT & the sticky ribs OH NO-no flavor from the ribs, sauce was just not existent and overall a badly bland meal! The only decent things I will say is water was decent and restroom was clean but however IDK BECAUSE THIS WAS NOT WORTH IT!!!! Another flaw was the music stuff because it didn't seem to have any consistency for the place-ANOTHER ISSUE!!!!

Great in house beers. Boneless jerk wings were tasty. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Love it! Cute place. Great service. Excellent food and beer! We had the Asian wings - omg - delish. We also tried the truffle Parmesan fries - highly recommend. The Mac and cheese balls were also legit good. If you're in downtown Springfield and don't try this place, you're missing out!

Had dinner here with a friend after a conference at Mass Mutual Center. I heard good things about the beer, and I wasn't disappointed. There was a wide variety of beers and hard seltzers, fruit and sours to stouts and IPAs. The food was also excellent. I ordered the street tacos and they were fabulous. This may be an unpopular pairing, but I love tacos and fries! The fries were cooked perfectly! The service was top notch and the washrooms were very clean. Highly recommend.

I was in Springfield for a conference this weekend, and every time I go to Springfield, I am shocked at what a ghost town it is. Restaurants are often closed on the weekends, and there are only a handful of places where you can go for dinner on a Saturday night. It has the oddest downtown scene that I have ever seen in my travels. That being said, I am always pleasantly surprised when I find a gem like White Lion in this sleepy city. It's oddly placed inside a dying mall, which is weird, so when you sit by one of the side windows, you look directly into an empty mall. But inside, the food is tasty and the beer is good. I like the set-up too, where you order everything at the bar, beer and food, and they bring it to your table. It makes it easy to pay separately in big groups. I had the Pilsner which was delicious and tried the nachos, which weren't the most incredible nachos I've ever had, but probably a Springfield 9 or 10.

we had a Christmas party and everything was so great! the staff Rick, Kathleen and Steven were so professional and attentive to all our needs! The food was amazing! the short ribs were delicious!

Solid NEIPA on tap - just wish there was more of a selection. Brussel sprouts were very good, but a bit expensive for not a large amount. Service was great.

Don't be deceived by the location, once you enter you feel removed from the business district and transported to a cool brewery. The staff was very attentive and made great recommendations on what to drink. I tried multiple sours (they have cute 5 oz pours!) And the food was top notch! Highly recommend the sticky ribs! Unlike anything I've had in the area.

Came in for Wednesday lunch since I work nearby. I ordered the sticky rib salad and was disappointed. The salad was basically just a bag of field greens. The ribs were good but you only get two and they're pretty small. All this for $16? I left hungry. Won't be back.

Rick was amazing!! They had a conference or event next door and opened on a rare Monday. Owners did not plan correctly and he was by himself and killed it! Beer was good.

We love visiting White Lion Brewing. We have been three times now and the experience has been great each time. The personnel behind the bar are always fun and friendly. They know their beer and correctly steer you towards what you will like. The beer is great. My husband likes IPAs and I like sours. Many great choices for both. The food is outstanding. The ribs are AMAZING! The decorations are also a lot of fun and tastefully done. Can't wait to visit again.

Came down for the Comedy Show, which is really an excuse to get some of Highbrow Kitchen's Asian Sticky Ribs. Got a side of the crispiest show string French fries and a Grape & Apple Bellini Sour. This place is really something. Can't wait to come back again for some of them ribs! Ray let's bump them to an entrée they are the MVP.

Great beers, limited food options, nachos , Brussels sprouts and chicken tenders that we ordered were very good, sliders were a bit dry.

Beers are solid. Several good sours, a decent pilsner and english brown. Red Ale tinged with cinnamon was the winner. Service is good enough. Music selection loud and talentless. Price -- $33 for 2 4 4oz tasters. A little pricey, apparently with no discount for a flight vs single tasters. Surprising and Disappointing.

My first time here for a SGRHO event and it was just amazing. I'm not into beer but found something I liked and the location is perfect spot and the wingsss were the best

We received a gift card for Christmas and decided to give it a try tonight, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, parking was a little scarce. We each started with a flight to try to see which beer we wanted the beers were good, i really enjoyed the sours more which normally i don't. Then we ordered the nachos with pulled chicken they were very good needed a little more sour cream and pico but they brought us some extra right away. Then a patron told us the sticky ribs are amazing so we decided to get those then the boneless tenders. The ribs were amazing they fell off the bone and melted in your mouth, for the wings we ordered bufflious (mix of Buffalo bbq and honey mustard), mango habanero and garlic parm. I liked the garlic parm the best the mango did not have much flavor there wasn't much sauce so that maybe why. We also got the beer battered onion rings and at the end the fried Oreos. Onion rings were very meaty of onion which was great!

Everything you'd want in brewery. Ownership is present, connected, and driven by a dope why for the city of Springfield. Beer is delicious, interesting, creative, and sure to offer something unique while also having solid go to options. LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT WHITE LION!!!

First time dining in tonight, I came in for drinks and dinner before a hockey game. I'm a fan of their beers and wanted to patronize the place now that the kitchen is open. Staff was friendly in directing us to seat ourselves and order at the counter when we were all set. Placed an order for fish and chips, and a burger. Fish was super crisp and flaky, fries were hot, and the burger was juicy. They offer a 5oz version of any of their beers so you can make your own flight, which is cool to try out whatever NEIPA or fruited sour they're working on. Was loud and crowded, but that's what you get for going to a bar on Friday night. Still, we were in and out in under an hour. Highly recommend if you want to chill with friends for a long time, or an easy dinner date to start your night.

Food was ok, nothing to rave about. Typical bar food. Hate places that don't have wait staff. You gotta order at the bar. Hire more staff, like duh. IPAs were ok. Do yourself a favor and go to TreeHouse. If your bored and in the area, go in and grab some ok food.

Place is really nice. The staff is very friendly. The drinks are pretty good. Had fries and mini sliders which were good. The only issue was the person I came with asked for a well done no pink nor veggies burger and got a very pink burger with onions. We sent it back to the waitress to make sure it came out well done with no onions and guess what the burger came back well done with onions smh. I really was hoping it would be a good place to eat and drink but I guess don't take the burger if you like it well done. Very disappointed.

Great place, very convenient, wait staff very friendly, turns out we had common friends. Beer was excellent, only tried a few, hot wings were definitely hot. Great selection of food, plenty of space.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The appetizers (fried pickles and jetk chicken skewers) were great. The beer list lacked our favorites ( porters and stouts), but otherwise a great experience .

I am writing this review so that everyone knows that this is a little outdoor beer vendor in a park. I was looking forward to trying some of the beers, but once we got there around 8:30, saw that they were closing up and didn't get anything after walking for 15 minutes to go there.

Disregard the older reviews. This place is now a bona fide brewery/tap room with a fixed indoor, downtown Springfield location. Layout/design is good; the bar is big and long, so plenty of room to come hang with a large group. Despite the massive volume of beer I've drank in my life, I'm not a beer connoisseur, so I can't comment on top-notes, hints of barley, mouthfeel, etc, but I'll say that every White Lion beer I've ever drank has been very good. There's a wide variety of flavors and styles on tap, so more or less everyone should find something they like. Bartenders can help with selections, I'm sure. It was nice to have the owner greet us from out of nowhere, you can tell he's got a lot of love in this place, and I'm happy to support this endeavor.

Heard music when parking for CVS. Parked to see what was up. Saw event with large Jenga, connect four, outdoor seating, live music, beer, and food. Thought this was a promotional event, spoke to the owner (great guy) and found out this is the permanent setup! Really great for outdoor entertainment.

Went to Springfield to see Jay Leno on 6/25. Brewery was very nice, service was good and I really enjoyed the beer. That's is the most important thing - the beer. That said, the nachos were not good and the pulled pork barbecue sandwich was very disappointing to say the least. Stick with the beer. Remember you are at a microbrewery.

Come here. Come here NOW. The beers we've all been getting in package stores in years have been great...but fresh pours are even more amazing! The bartenders are super fun to chat with, and the beers are fantastic! Let's support our local brewery right in downtown Springfield!!! I can not be more emphatic that you should come here!!!

Went last night for beer and dinner before a concert. Beer was great. I had a burger, excellent and my sister had the tofu. Atmosphere is welcoming. Servers are super nice and attentive. Would definitely recommend a visit there.
