Great place with awesome food. Came in a weekday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded as it gets on weekends. Ordered a chicken burger which was pretty epic. The Sangria (Foxy Sangria) was one of the best I’ve tasted in a while. Thanks Matt at the bar for great service! Keep it up guys, will visit again.

Celebrated my friend’s birthday and it was one of the best times ever!!! The host at the door and our server were beyond lovely! The food was heavens along with the drinks!! The atmosphere was super vibey!! It is very hard to find a place that checks all the boxes here in Manhattan! ✌🏼 I am definitely going to back to taste every single dish on the menu and will bring friends along! Thank you to the White Oak Tavern crew for the best night!!!! 🫶🏼I will be back!😍

Great service, tasty brunch, delicious drink menu. Roomy atmosphere and lots of indoor and outdoor seating where you're not on top of eachother. Evy was awesome as our server and took great care of us.

The Porto burger is a nice vegetarian main to order here. Lovely ambience!

We came here because we live nearby and were too lazy to go far given we were up from 4am for the Macy's Parade. Therefore, no real expectations. But White Oak is fantastic! Surprised people don't talk about it more. The food is great and not that expensive relative for these sorts of things in Manhattan. The Mac n Cheese was 🔥 and the Thanksgiving Turkey special was spectacular. French onion soup was solid but probably the least exciting dish. Service was good, cocktails sharp and the drinks selection broad. Decor within the venue was beautiful as well. Will have to turn this into my local go to!

Drinks, whiskey, fries oh my! I liked the fries and the fact they have a whiskey bible. Friendly bartender and great service. Clean bathrooms as well.

We came on a Sunday around 2. We saw our waitress once when she hurriedly took our orders. My coke never came. Our waters were never refilled. The food was nothing special. We ordered off the limited brunch menu and what I ordered had smoked salmon. They were out of salmon. Didn't offer a replacement or discount the dish at all. No one checked on us AT ALL. After an extremely long time my husband had to go find someone to get the bill. I don't understand how a place like this stays open in such a great location. We obviously won't return and recommend that you look elsewhere as well since there are so many wonderful places with great service within steps.

The pictures of the menu on Google are outdated as they’ve changed their menu. They’ve downsized their menu and now have very limited options for people who cannot eat meat and dairy together. My friend usually likes to look at the menu online before he goes to a restaurant to see what he can eat. But when we got there none of the things he was able to eat were on there. When we asked why they explained that they condensed their menu for the summer time. I will be coming again with him when their menu goes back to the winter menu. In the meanwhile, here’s the updated menu for this month (June 2024).

White Oak Tavern was a 20 out of 10 ACROSS the board. The ambiance was so inviting, welcoming. The food was sensational. From their brussel sprouts, to chicken pot pie my meal was next level awesome. The service was exceptional, including the owner being such a down to earth, friendly man. I would HIGHLY recommend this bar to anyone looking for a warm, enjoyable experience.

What an a terrific place! Cool vibe, great atmosphere and friendly service! Had the most amazing specialty drink called "The Graduate" - a definite must have! Next time I'll stay for dinner. The menu looks delicious.

Nestled in beautiful downtown NYC, this Tavern offers a modern, clean, and elegant atmosphere that makes for a truly enjoyable dining experience. The lighting and decor are tasteful, and the staff is both friendly and courteous, which sets the stage for a pleasant evening. Starting off, we ordered the smoked fish appetizer. It had great texture and the quality and quantity were just right, but it lacked that extra punch of seasoning to really elevate the boldness of the smoked fish. The crackers, while fine, felt a bit overpowering for the delicate nature of the fish - a toasted baguette would have been a much better pairing in my opinion. On to the cocktails - they were fantastic! Bold, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, without being too strong. A great complement to the meal. Now, I won't dive too deeply into my husband's burger, though he did say it was delicious! But me, I like to order with a bit more adventure, and this is where the Tavern truly surprised me. Being a Tavern, they focus on a friendly bar atmosphere and pub-style menu, but their execution on more refined dishes really stands out. I ordered the salmon with fresh green beans and mashed potatoes, and let me tell you - White Oak Chef, don't play! That salmon was perfection. Lightly dusted with sea salt and garlic butter, with maybe just a dash of cooking wine, the flavors were fresh, authentic, and vibrant. The green beans, tossed in the same skillet with what I'm sure was a squeeze of lemon, were packed with flavor. The mashed potatoes were just there as a hint - a gentle reminder that the real star was what was sitting on top. This meal easily deserves 10 stars, but since the rating only goes up to 5, consider this review my full endorsement. Absolutely worth a visit!

White Oak is THE happy hour spot for my friend group. We cannot go without a foxy sangria and the trusty fries and dipping sauce trio. Their Brussels sprouts are also good. We've tried many things on the menu here and have liked everything. My sister also loved their BLAT-- bacon lettuce avo tomato. The happy hour deals could be better but I always have a good time here.

This is a very popular spot due to its convenient location. It's always busy--no matter the day or time of the week--it's always bustling with cheerful crowds. This is a well liked happy hour spot for many locals and students. Make reservations for busy dinning times, as the place fills up quickly starting 6pm. Beautiful Christmas decorations adorn the classy wooden decor of this taverna. Spending time here is joyful and uplifting, especially if you're looking for that old world holiday charm. Warm and accommodating host. Waiters are efficient and professional. Food is standard American bar fare. Nothing to write home about. $16 White Oak salad was small and light. Very little dressing. Just a few pieces of lettuce (definitely could've put more of the cheapest produce imaginable for such price and portion. $13 chilly Brussels sprouts were tasty, but not crispy. $21 cheeseburger and $29 wagyu burgers were filling. Cheeseburger was served with all the side fixins', so that portion felt more substantial than Wagyu burger. Wagyu tasted more delicate. Less fat and sinew, which you could taste in the regular cheeseburger, making it a bit tough, if compared to Wagyu patty. Get your burgers medium rare, so that they're not dried up. Fries were standard. $29 salmon with pea risotto was disappointing. Everything on that plate was bland. Zero seasoning whatever. Salmon filet had a crispy skin, which I appreciated, but the fish itself was a bit tough, and again, completely devoid of taste. Risotto was plentiful but utterly lacking flavor. Felt like eating porridge/grits in childhood, when your palette craves flavor yet you have to subside on bland food. Skip--get burgers instead. Everyone in our party was insanely parched after our meal. Drink plenty of water while eating so you're not dying of dehydration for the rest of the night.

I discovered White Oak about a year ago and it quickly became a go-to local spot for drinks and dinner! Love the chill atmosphere and they make one of the best Whiskey Sours I've had in the city. One of my favorite things about White Oak was their famous Chicken Pot Pie - on a rainy or cold day, this was always what I craved! Unfortunately, it seems they've switched from a homemade (& mouth-watering) dish to a heat-up, pre-made version. I'll definitely be back for drinks, but very sad to have lost one of my favorite menu items. Hoping it makes an appearance back in the near future!

Love the atmosphere but the food & drinks were a little disappointing (BLT did not like & eggs Benedict good enough). We found the menu limited. Will try again but not rushing back

I come here pretty often and get the chicken pot pie. I have come in twice in the past week and have noticed that the chicken pot pie is different. Not sure if there is a new supplier, but it used to be served in a kettle type thing they cook it in, where it came out very hot and fresh and tasted home-made. Now, the pot pie is served on a plate with a salad and is barely even warm (experienced this last 2 visits). It tastes like something I could buy in the frozen section of a supermarket for $6. Definitely not worth the $24. I hope they go back to how it used to be. Ambiance is nice and good drinks.

White Oak is one of my neighborhood hangs in the Village. Its horseshoe bar and old-world decor and ambiance is a huge win. Don't leave without trying the crispy brussels sprouts in the "Shareables" section of the menu. So good, you might want to order a second serving from the start. I haven't disliked anything I've ever had at White Oak. Especially around the holidays, it's a fantastic neighborhood joint.

Great restaurant for Sunday brunch. Great food that is reasonably priced, good drinks, and good service. They offer a $30 2 hour bottomless brunch which is a great deal. I would recommend the burger. Highly recommend.

Super friendly staff and great food! I ordered the fish dip which was flavorful and balanced without being too fishy and the pork chop which was cooked perfectly with cabbage slaw that was tangy and delicious! The vibe inside was so cozy and welcoming and the outdoor setup was very inviting as well. I will definitely be coming back for more!

What a gem we found while walking around Greenwich Village and NYU. The interior was beautifully decorated and had a great vibe. Service was friendly and food was served fairly quickly. We enjoyed our time here. Food was all good. We had cheeseburgers, broccoli, Caesar salad, and quinoa mixed green salad with chicken and Moscow mule aI would definitely come back next time we're in town.

Nice spot for brunch or quick bite. Unfortunately they don't service their claimed fish and chips before dinner. Service is good and quick. Good for groups. The black mashroom burger is ok, not that satisfying.

I'm so sad to leave this review because I so wanted to love this place! The great things were the vibe, the DJ that was definitely killing it and the appetizers. We got the yummy meatballs and the phenomenal brussel sprouts. Both were so good. My husband got the fish and chips for his meal and said the fish was very good. I initially got the chicken pot pie. Unfortunately, it had no flavor, at all. So, I ordered the wagyu burger with the garlic rosemary aioli. It has the potential to be good but the rosemary is so overpowering in the aioli. It's just too much. The fries were great, but the ketchup was off for some reason. Like kind of vinegary tasting. Our waiter was great and even took off the pot pie even though I told him it wasn't necessary because I was the one who wanted to try it. Anyway, definitely a great hang out spot with a super cool vibe. I'd maybe just stick with the apps or try something more simple.

The Bacon Mac and Cheese was very good. I had a Threes Brewing ale of some sort, which was tart and heady, yet also a solid beer. I've always liked the earthy vibe at White Oak, and that has not changed. Nice enough bartender; not enough pretty ladies to flirt with but maybe I'll have better luck next time around.

I visited the White Oak Tavern for the first time earlier this month and had a lovely experience! The decor is stunning (and super festive for the holidays). It's a cozy, inviting space and environment. The servers and staff we absolutely wonderful to me and my party of three as well so hats off to them! One of the pals I brought with me is vegan and was able to enjoy a fully vegan appetizer and meal (though we wished there was a vegan dessert option too!). The brussels sprout appetizer is vegan and, though I'm not vegan myself, was one of the best brussels sprouts dishes I've ever had! It was the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and crunchy--yum! Next, I tried out an Ancient Grains bowl. While it was good and made me feel healthy, I was unfortunately a tad disappointed in it. I appreciate the vegan option, but it felt underwhelming in flavor and texture. Overall, the experience was lovely and I'll be back! I'll try something else as a main and report back :).

We stumbled upon this location as we strolled through the streets of Manhattan. We decided to stop by for a quick lunch and happy hour drinks before heading out to our scheduled engagement. Very spacious corner pub with your typical English vibes and decor.

Definitely a hidden gem - Affordable prices, great food, and very friendly wait staff. First time being at a Manhattan Sunday brunch and not feeling rushed out- Very friendly, warm, and welcoming waitress who gave us space and time to enjoy our food, chat, etc. Cute space with a dark and elegant feel. Will definitely be coming back to lunch, and excited to try out their lunch and dinner menu! Mimosas - Strong mimosa ! Fries - Decent fries, garlic herb sauce was fantastic and decent chipotle mayo Florentine Eggs Benedict - solid 7/10. Hash browns were amazing, the hollandaise sauce could have been more flavorful, but had great texture.

Surly waiter. Limited menu. Crap wine. Teensy orders of fries for not so teensy price. Move along, don't bother with this student trap.

Could not have asked for a better place and server(Justine) to spend my birthday with!!!! She went above and beyond to accommodate our large group. The food and drinks were stellar ;) Will definitely come back with our next event!!

Food was ok. We had a large group and they seated us a a table that was a little tight. It was dark and felt a little dirty. Our table was sticky, but I couldn't tell if it was because it wasn't clean or because of the packet on the table. I wouldn't say no if people wanted to go there, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

My friend from home came to visit me, and we went here!! I always see the White Oak Tavern when I'm walking around wash square, and I've always wanted to try it--it gives off a very old timey aesthetic, which I admire. I really love the decor in the place!! They had so many cool pictures and mirrors. It was definitely a captivating place to eat at. I will say though that there was no one up front when we walked in. My friend and I stood there for a while and were about to leave, but then someone showed up. It also took a while for us to get served, but the server apologized for the wait because I think they were short staffed that day. It was all good though! We got our food eventually. My friend got a burger, which she said she loved. I wanted to branch out, so I got chicken pot pie for the first time! It was very savory and definitely a comfort food. The food was honestly overpriced in my opinion. It was good, but it wasn't over the top good, and I don't think I'd want to pay that price for that quality of food. It's a really cute place for dinner and for a night out! I loved the experience all in all!

Ok, no exaggerated review from me - Can't miss this place. The atmosphere in the White Oak Tavern in the West Village is NiiiiiiCE. - Has a small pub feel with a true romantic feel. Screams NYC flavor. The food and drinks are top notch, pub style. Ciara (bar tender) has a world beater smile and personality. The food is exceptional and exceeds typical NYC pub - You won't be disappointed!!!!

White Oak is a neighborhood gem! I eat here weekly. Reminds me of the wonderful, friendly and inviting English Pubs I used to frequent when I lived in London. Delicious food, wonderful drinks, fabulous live music and wonderful servers and managers. Menu highlights are: Brussel Sprouts, Caesar Salad, Burger, Sweet potato fries, chicken pot pie, avocado toast, roasted chicken, miso mushrooms and the salmon. You can't go wrong, everything is good. My only suggestions would be to add better salads to the menu and for the restaurant to have better A/C in the summer. Tip: make a reservation because people reserve tables and it fills up pretty quickly. This is NOT a place for a child.

Happy we popped in here for dinner, seemed like a happening spot and the food didn't disappoint, though the menu wasn't the most appealing to me. Best bite had to be the Brussels sprouts, I'd say not to be missed, but was also happy with the burger.

What a great find when needing to catch up with friends from out of town! The hostess accommodated us immediately and had the most perfect table! Service was prompt, efficient and friendly, thx John! All of our dishes were outstanding!!

This place is pretty cool featuring some rustic decor inside with a dim lit atmosphere. The vibe within the restaurant has been amazing the past two times I've been. I ate here with a large group for a small birthday dinner and another time of four. The food here is pretty tasty and spot on for what they are going for. I wouldn't say the food is over the top but it's always good and so far hasn't disappointed. Service has been great too.

Bad service. The curly hair serve is so lazy to walk up to me when I asked/requested something. She talked across the heads of guests. Serve wrong order, and sent the plate crossing over the heads of other guests. SO RUDE. Or is this something you normalize it is good. Not so sure. This didnt happen once but twice. She doesnt deserve any tips!

We were driving past this and couldn't stop looking at their Christmas decorations so we stopped in and had a late dinner. And I'm so glad we did! We only had 2 people so they sat us away from the tree at a 2 top but there's a gorgeous tree in the middle of the bar. There's booths in the back as well so it's perfect for 4 to 6 people to come here. I got the chicken pot pie and my party got the beyond burger which was done so well she said it's the best beyond burger she had in the city (we are not tourists and we eat burgers often) and my chicken pot pie warmed me up as I had almost no food in the day and I was starting to shiver at night this thing filled me up to the brim and I was warm again. I will definitely come back here for some drinks and to try their famous vegetarian lasagna.

My friend and I went to White Oak Tavern at 2:30pm on a Sunday. It was not crowded at all, but it was raining and Superbowl Sunday, so that was probably why. Lara was our server, and she was fantastic! The interior is like a typical bar, and we were lucky to be seated near the window so it was a bit more lighted. I ordered the Country Breakfast ($20) and my friend ordered a Brunch Burger medium ($19). While I do think the breakfast is slightly overpriced, everything was delicious! ALL food on the plate was seasoned well and packed with flavor. My only con was that the bacon was not crispy, which is my preference. My friend said the brunch burger was also delicious, but beware that it is messy. The only con was the burger was closer to medium-well than to medium. My friend got a Mum's the Word mocktail ($9) that was extremely tart. Overall, I had a great experience at White Oak Tavern, and I would definitely come back if I was in the area because the food was tasty. Lara also did multiple check backs and the water got refilled. The food did take longer than normal (~20 minutes), but it was worth the wait.

Came here on a WHIM on a date .. not the kinda place i would have chosen for myself but i brought here and i MUST say that it was pleasantly surprised ... it's a rustic bar grill the decor is campy AF love the chandeliers the vibe of the restaurant was for me Our server Brain was the BEST So I ordered a spicy margarita and the 1st one was ok but i told Brian that it was missing the tahini powder and he went in his personal stash and he hooked me all the way UP!! With my next 3 drinks were rimmed with it and for that Brian got a 5/5 for his service!.. A1 .. so for Apps we got the Mini Crab cake's which were delicious a 3/5 only cause the garnish wasn't not edible to me and they should give more aioli other than that i would have given it a 5/5 and i got a Cesar salad and i won't like this was a damn good salad only thing is the croutons were not choice they was soggy so i give the salad. 4/5 for that reason only For the main i got a blacken chicken sandwich which i thought was gonna be spicy but it was a nice juicy well seasoned sandwich. This was a super quaint traditional tavern. It was easy to imagine this place being open 100 years ago, wish I knew the history of the building. The service was excellent and the food was tasty. Super holiday feel with beautiful decorations for Christmas!

Was meeting a friend that I have not seen in at least 5 years. It was an amazing setting, we got a great table. The bar looked great just all was full at the moment we came in. Started with donuts () , and they were supposed to have filling with alcohol, but they were just regular donuts, not very good that's why my rating is 4 stars, but maybe someone else will love them, who knows. Other than that all was great: drinks, service and food. Would come to test the bar, it looked really good time there.

Everything a great " tavern" should be ; warm and welcoming, lively atmosphere and an expansive selection of beers and wines. The White Oak takes it over the top! The bar area does not dominate the room, but generates a festive atmosphere in the ample open seating areas, as well as the quieter cozy nooks. The menu features inventive twists on traditional fare as well as delicious upscale dishes. The our small family group enjoyed a very memorable birthday celebration there and we look forward to our next visit!

This is a great bar. I enjoy it here! Service is friendly and attentive. Place is cozy and old school feeling. Apps are good as bar food, but the actual food menu with entrées is not something I would come here for - pretty basic and no stand outs. There's way better bar food out there. Burger was not great and either was the salmon. Deviled eggs are good.

Classic NYC tavern in a premium location. Great beer selection. They have their own private label brew. Spectacular brunch specials with bottomless mimosas.

It seems that the owner would rather slander me than address the very real issues. Bad food, health department concerns and unprofessional interactions. To be clear, there were no "unwanted advances" I had zero interest in any of the employees and never approached anyone in that manner--I often ate quietly alone and left. The accusation is absurd and an excuse. In the evening in question the GM did not even explain clearly what the issue was, no part of the concern made sense and I had come for dinner at 5:30pm and stayed less than an hour. None of it adds up--it's hard to be "defensive" without clarity, but frankly I have plenty of choices, the food is inconsistent, overpriced, and a dishonest attack on me from the GM says more than whatever issue he is having with his staff. Disappointing.

Good solid brunch food. Went above and beyond to get us a better table than originally reserved. Service a bit slow, but this is a sit around and chat kind of place. Chicken in the Chicken and Waffles was tender and succulent. Avocado toast with egg was fresh and delicious.

Stopped by here before The Blue Man Group show and wow, this place did not disappoint! Def wished we wouldve gotten here earlier to take advantage of the happy hour. But next time! We were seated outside since it was a nice breezy evening in NYC. But we took turns to goto the restroom and the indoor decor was definitely a vibe! We ordered a few items to share and loved everything -burrata (comes w bread too!) -crispy brussel sprouts (they were not lyin when they said crispy!) -fried chicken sliders (chicken was so flavorful!) -foxy sangria (HH wkdays 3-7pm) Definitely recommend checkin this spot out!
