"The pub formerly known as 'The Mucky Duck' remains a traditional place where you’re guaranteed a laid-back atmosphere and a good pint. The concise menu allows the kitchen to concentrate on producing good value cooking from small batches of locally sourced produce. Dishes might appear simple at first, but there's impressive depth of flavour and some playful elements hidden within. The cheeseboard with homemade crackers and English truffle honey is a must, and there are some interesting wines available by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

Visited here after my daughter won a medal for 4 with accompanying wine in the young chefs competition!! From the moment we arrived the experience was amazing! The staff are so attentive, the food is second to none and the wine to accompany each course was divine! Will definitely be returning! Thank you

Booked for a special Birthday. Simply this is the best food I have tasted in my entire life. I am very fussy about food... Really the majority of restaurants food is a variation, tasting slightly better or worse. Here the food is at another level. Yes it is more expensive than an average meal but the courses are wonderful. Prepared by someone who really understands food. It was like an awakening of taste, dish every dish just were expectional. Service was the best l have every received and added to the experience. Good service and good food compliment each other and complete the experience. Dont hesitate book now! This is truly one of life's wonders that you should take the opportunity to sample. Thank you to the Team at the White Swan. You should be proud of your accomplishment and thanks for an amazing night.

We have dined here on numerous occasions and it really has been exceptional every time, the service is always warm and friendly and the atmosphere charming and relaxed. Oh, and the cheese board also deserves a special mention, it’s a thing of beauty! All in all a real treat and we will be booking in again soon.

The tasting menu is always delicious here and the service is friendly and relaxed. The taster is now £75 per head. We did feel that the portions this time were super-small. It felt as though the baked cheesy potato course was used to fill you up, but with only a third of a chicken breast for main and most courses no more than a mouthful, it seems as though the kitchen has been through a significant cost cutting exercise. The “special” wines are a good idea, and we are happy to pay more for something more unusual, but again, limiting the measure to 100ml is penny-pinching and leaves a metaphorical “bad taste”. Better to increase the price and pour a decent measure. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch, but my fellow diners are less convinced about returning in light of these recent changes.

I was so looking forward to visiting this little place after reading all the good reviews and recommendations from friends but unfortunately it was very disappointing… I opted to go on the lobster evening as it’s my favourite dish and the whole night was focussed on lobster, so I felt it was the perfect opportunity for me to sample their food… unfortunately it wasn’t good at all and I am so so disappointed as I do feel they are normally good but on this occasion they really weren’t … we had a cheese cup for first starter and it was delicious and I was excited to taste the remainder of the dishes… the second starter was half of baked potato scooped out then mixed with butter to make a purée was very salty and all i could taste was the creaminess of the butter and what tasted like the cheese from the first course .. I could not taste or hardly find the lobster in it .. then my main course came and it was so so disappointing.. they had cut parts of the lobster from the main to create the starter which just made the presentation look scruffy and the lobster was so over cooked it was chewy .. unfortunately this place is a no from me … I have added some photos .. and labelled them … one is the photos from their website .. one is a picture of my friends meal when she visited last year and one is a picture of my meal .. you can see from the image the lobster is just so overcooked which just left it tasteless and chewy .. and cost £75 per head ..

Most consistently tasty and affordable Michelin star restaurant in the area. At 65 GBP for the lunch menu, it's a fabulous vakue for money. I have been here multiple times and always had sublime food with great hospitality from Laura.
